No idea what all the whining is about
July 18, 2023

I've used Discogs for years now.

I've bought many items - mostly LPs - via the site and have only ever had two issues with items being far removed from their stated condition. I got refunds from PayPal in both instances. Discogs also removed the negative feedback from one of the sellers (the other didn't leave any).

Just like eBay, you need to look at the feedback left for the seller of anything you intend to buy AND the seller's response to that feedback. Two sides to every story.

Most sellers will confirm their stated condition for an item; few of them have actually downgraded Ed their own rating after I've asked them to check. I've then changed my mind about buying tat copy and looked elsewhere.

I've bought items from around the world via Discogs, although my purchases from the USA have dwindled since the postage costs rose dramatically after an edict from Trump.

I've!so read something in here about difficulties in cataloguing collections. The Discogs system could not be more helpful or comprehensive. It does mean you have to expend some time and effort in identifying what you actually have in hand and matching it with the same item on Discogs. It's that simple. If you item is recent enough to have a barcode, then the Eiscogs app will allow you to zap that barcode and add the item to your coll3ctiin list within Discogs.

Your collection can then be viewed in any sequence you wish…most recently added, high-to-low value, low-to-high, by artist, by album, by year, by format …it's massively useful.

Your collection can also be downloaded as a CSV file and stored as a spreadsheet. Many insurers will accept this as a value rating should the worst happen to your collection.

Are there rogue traders in there? Most likely…but show me on online platform without rip-off merchants. The vast, vast majority of sellers, though, are fellow music lovers. Don't let those on here - who have ignored seller ratings for the one purchase they've ever made from Discogs - make you think that's the site is a den of thieves.

They're completely wrong.

Oh…and the comments about the forum being full of opinionated idiots…just show me one forum on the whole internet where things are any different. I avoid forums everywhere like the plague for that very reason.

My bottom line is that I cannot recommend Discogs highly enough. Ignore the nay-sayers.

A website that is run by absolute tossers.
July 15, 2022

I would not trust this site when it comes to buying and selling physical music recordings.

I have boycotted this site since 2004. What people are now saying about Discgos was happening even then. Specifically that it is a website is a haven for online bullies, racism and homophobia. And it is the people who maintain the website that seem to be doing most of it.

I tend to go to Music Stack rather than Discogs for buying and if I need some information on a release I will set the search so it does not include results from Discogs. I also keep an eye out as the years go by for people who see it for what it is.

The one thing it does have in its favour is the way a user can compile a list of releases and save it to a device. When I was using it this was an excel spreadsheet.

But... the site is a real mess. They decided in about 2004 to expand from purely eletronic music into every genre going. Now searching for a release is not easy unless you are already an expert on it in the first place but that defeats the purpose of such a database. Therefore adding said releases to a list as such is not straightforward unless you got a copy in your hand for reference!.

The fact that ordinary people waste their time adding submissions to this site for free is absurd. The childish minded moderators love to reject them for the smallest of reasons and personally I cannot see the point of helping someone build a website for free just so my username can appear at the bottom of the page of a release as a footnote. These moderators are connected, either in some capacity within the music business or just buddies of someone who is.

The reason I am writing this is because of my own personal experience. When I was adding quite a lot of releases to the site in the early days, there was a collective of moderators and other members who ganged up on me. I decided to stand up to the ring leader, a person called Eric Hart who uses the moniker 'Bunkerheadz'. Within a day of letting him know what I thought about him, my acccount had been removed and all my work lost. Well I have not forgot him and I have not forgot that and I have never forgotten the experience of Discogs either.

There is plenty of other ways to get the accurate information on music releases nowadays without feeling that Discogs is the only go to source. As for buying and selling records Music Stack is far better and a lot easier to use as well.

Tip for consumers:

The only things I would recommend is to get what you need out of it for nothing. it is useful for things like cover art if you are digitally converting your music collection. It provides registered users with a free personal database by adding releases to a list. Everything else is a waste of time. Apparently the app is extremely poorly designed.

One person support team who is the absolute scum of the Earth
June 24, 2020

I submitted a new record that wasn't on the site... i guess i did something wrong: AUTOMATIC BAN FROM CONTRIBUTING TO THE SITE! Alright, so since I couldn't even attempt to fix my errors I turn to the forums to seek help... some people tell me what I did wrong (I posted the entire submission in CAPS basically) So some people there fixed the submission for me... but for complaining about being banned for one submission is was then BANNED FROM THE FORUMS!

A month later after doing nothing but selling records everyday, I had a 100% buyer and seller rating, I awaken to my account just being banned! I contact """"support""""" which is always the same person named Diognes the Fox, who gives the same copy and paste response to everything, every time I ask for any specific reason I was just banned out of the blue, he tells me
"Due to multiple violations of our Terms of Service and marketplace guidelines, including multiple cases of abusive behavior and harassment, management has determined that your account will be permanently banned from Discogs.com. This is our right under the Terms of Service. This decision is final -- the account and any linked accounts will remain permanently banned." This is the only thing he ever says!
Meanwhile in reality, I now can't get to any of my pending orders, none of my tracking numbers for records i put in the mail, none of my corespondents with buyers, nothing!
OK, so I know that the CEO of Discogs is Kevin Lewandowski... and the phone number to their office is *******340... so I suggest anyone in my position simply take to bombarding them with phone calls until you get the answer's you deserve... I'm going to start calling multiple times a day... leaving multiple messages... and I'll be reading all your reviews of their company and I'll begin relaying these messages directly to the CEO if I need to.

This Place is Biased And One of the Worst Incomplete Databases Ever
June 2, 2020

This place is one of the worst places you could ever try to sign up for. I've had a few friends recently denied to join the site because they claim their accounts are "associated" with someone else's that caused problems. How in the hell do they know that? These are personal friends and legit people who work in the industry... and this is their first time signing up. They were rejected flat out. I mean what the hell is that? I've been a member of the site in the past and the people who are associated with the site are nasty, hostile and unaccommodating to anyone personal needs. To get in touch with them requires an extra layer of security that shouldn't be required... this isn't Amazon whose customer service is light years better. At least, they can resolve problems or answer questions the same day, not whenever they feel like it like this place does. Adding to the matter, is their super complicated set of rules and guidelines that read like Secret Service text book and that if you don't follow correctly, you get attacked on all sides by these hostile trolls. To contribute to the site, is very complicated and difficult because you try to put all the information of a CD or record and if you miss one piece of information or you put the wrong one, basically you get attacked not only by the administrators, but also those "priviledged" and "biased" long time members who think they're always right. These are the same jerks that if you try to correct or fix one of their listings, you get into a major fight with and the one who gets in trouble is you because they prefer to have these members with "Rank Vote Points" that feel are their best people who think they know everything when their listings and databases are still filled with serious errors and alot of misinformation that needs to be fixed and corrected properly. These people are relentless and do not stop attacking you until you do it the way they want you to do it, when you're merely trying to correct a situation they started in the first place. To deal with these people is a frustrating and excruciating. Their site is fancy looking but the quality is not there. This also applies to selling on the site which is also a major headache with buyer fees that practically almost take up 50% of what you make and on top of that, they want you to pay another countries' taxes like Australia or Germany for example. VAT they call it which is not right that the seller should assume those taxes unlike eBay or Amazon where the buyer is the one assuming the Taxes. So that makes a very small piece of the pie for selling there. Also, many items are outrageously overpriced and undergraded. I contacted a seller who had a CD i was interested in it and asked him why the condition is what you stated. He reluctantly stated that the condition was poor because the booklet was damaged (pages stuck together) and the CD had marks from the booklet and a few scratches. YET, this seller has the CD priced at 100 dollars! 100 Dollars for a CD that while rare, most would donate to Goodwill because of the poor condition. When I asked him if he would take half of what he was asking for and stated that the would take 20 dollars off and then came an insulting remark which was "... if you want a better conditioned CD, then buy the next one available on the site". Just because a CD is rare or out of print, doesn't mean a person is going to buy it for that price especially in that condition. There are other sellers are who are just plain rude and unpleasant just like the people that run the place as well as their contributors like a member who calls himself "steve dot fletcher" who thinks he's king of the world and that no one has the right to correct his contributions. If you don't people to fix your mistakes, then post correctly. This attitude is condoned highly on this site and it is that disgusting attitude makes it harder to want to be on it. If they want the site make public, but private and have people who have been their longer put in the information, like sites like AllMusic for example, then do it. Not jerk people around and mistreat them. These people go as far as to threaten you in everyway possible in a hostile manner. That way, people can see the information properly and no problems. Instead they trick you into joining and then you get attacked for just about everything including the pictures you upload or putting information that you know is correct. This site is not the Best IN THE WEB or the BOMB. My post isn't about people getting scammed or ripped off, which happens on a regular basis there too. They're not protecting you from anything, they're more worried about the percentage of the sale they're getting. Plain and Simple. These two posters are hiding the real truths about the site and it is really pathetic. Morons! You can't cover up for people who are hostile and act like a bunch of old trolls because they think they're king of the world. I hope that one day the site is taken over by a more friendly group of developers and this garbage thrown out. They're only worth attention as a database despite all its errors but for everything, there isn't anything there that you couldn't find somewhere else with better customer service and prices. Discogs is a wasteland for those have been there from the beginning and pissed their territory for others not to be apart of. If they let you join that is. I'm glad my friends didn't join, it's a waste of time and energy on people who aren't worth five minutes of your time or for that matter your life. Anyone who tries to defend them, is just another old troll who's been there too long and deserves to go down with the ship.

Impossibly & needlessly complicated for sellers
October 25, 2018

Decency prevents me from using language I'd like to use about this stupid site. Many issues from trivial to annoying could be listed here. The actual process of buying something is fairly easy. Marginally more complicated than eBay. It is the listing of items to sell that's a horribly finicky, fussy, exasperating, humiliating, cumbersome and tedious process. If your item already exists in their database, again not too cumbersome. The real frustration is entering something that is NOT in the database where this site really breaks down. The details required are vast and the slightest error gets you a pop-up on what's wrong and if that fix gets through the system and something else is still wrong, you get an email the next day telling you how to correct it. Well, that ain't so easy. The email merely uses their own jargon to tell you what to do and mostly refers you to an online document or a suggestion to go to the forum. It is a "noreply@" email, so you can never interact with the person sending it to help you clarify something. In fact there are no humans you can actually write to for help or info. You must read a document or search through hundreds of thousands of posts on their forum.

Then there's inconsistencies. On one Russian composer the name had to be entered in Cyrillic script. His English equivalent name popped up as non-existent and could not be entered. But there were multiple other listings WITH the English version of the name. Want another: a city needed to be appended to the name of a performing group. I did so. A few days later another editing message arrive that I should not list the city. This now counted as "two" faults on MY part. I could go on and on.OK, so you've spent an hour (my average time for a new listing) inputting photos, data, names, and what they call "credits". These range from a sound engineer to a solo bassoonist, hundreds of them in fact. Now again, ANY inaccuracy and you get another email the next day with more of the same. If you get too many of these "correction" emails, your are in a sense humiliated into a blacklisted situation by what they call a Contributor Improvement Program. It locks you out of doing any more editing or submitting until people "vote" on your submissions. This is so stupid as to be a disqualifier in its own right. All I want to do is sell something and make a few dollars. I don't have time to read other members' listings and vote on whether they are correct or not. But members are encouraged, almost mandated to do so. This is because your new listing will NOT show up in the database until it is voted on. If fact you are encouraged to post on the forum asking for someone - anyone - to review your listing and vote on it. What kind of crap is this? Thus you are locked in a sort of Limbo where you are stuck and can't do much of anything.

Even deleting my account was a tedious process. The only good news today is that I'm FINALLY deleted and done with this maddening site. Sadly, I wish there were other sites to list, buy and sell CD's, records, etc. Sure you got eBay and Amazon but one is timed and the other requires you to create a "store" for $40/month (!). That's a lot to sell a couple dozen items. We need a far simpler version of Discogs.

Discogs Arrogant Users List
January 20, 2017

I struggled to find a resolution to an old irrational user on the Discogs forum last year and was one of many online supporters that also felt obligated to report this "antagonistic revelry" from a series of gang up commentators and commentaries.

The rash of retaliatory negative votes, to taking a once friendly hobby to a place of constant bickering and ignorant troll like behavior from users that had nothing better to do but bully there know-it-all self righteous and down right disrespectful actions. Many newbies just abandoned their accounts from this abuse since it was constant and finally when Discogs management was grouply alerted of these violators I was like many satisfied to find long time users become "Former Submitters".

Remember while Discogs is a User-Built database of music. More than 317,000 people have contributed some piece of knowledge, to build up a catalog of more than 7,800,000 recordings and 4,700,000 artists with former moderators used. Now relies on peer to peer justification for reviews, submissions, clarification of votes and a community guidelines explained here.

https://www.discogs.com/help/doc/forums

Exerpts include the following:

What kind of behavior is expected at Discogs?

~ Please be helpful and polite.
~ Be kind to new users; we were all new once.
~ Stay on topic and post messages in the appropriate forum or group.
~ Report inappropriate comments
~ Respect intellectual property rights.

https://support.discogs.com/en/support/tickets/new

While Discogs team realizes there are still many bits and pieces to undertake containment, a fair share of these aforementioned incidents still occur but remain under reported and hence therefore, nothing is done.

https://www.discogs.com/team

The methodology for this thread is to bring to acknowledgement these incidents of callous ill justices and practices to unite both group and peer activity to find course for a resolution. This is a belief that I'm sure Leadership at Discogs would like in their ranks as a form of growth rather than stagnant kaizen to their model plan.

These below users which caused heartburn to many, many newbies as well as contributors that just wanted to catalog music for their marketplace found much backlash to where they either abandoned their account or finally stood up and did something about it.

Former Long Time Users / Contributors that constantly violated terms and guidelines of social practice aforementioned for user-built community:

Do not buy from Discogs
October 25, 2016

Do not order from the site Discogs! They let their seller's take advantage of the buyer and then deny responsibility.

I purchased a record from this site in July. For those who don't know, Discogs acts as a forum in which people can buy and sell from vendors all over the world. At the time I thought the record I was pursuing was rare as it was a limited release, and ordering from China seemed like a reasonable option at the time. The album (there were two total records within) cost $40 itself and the seller charged $20 for shipping. The shipping seemed excessive but I had never ordered anything from China so at the time it seemed like I really didn't have another option. I looked at another seller and shipping from Australia was a hair more expensive. I did not receive the record for a month and a half. Despite multiple emails to the seller "chaorenguoguo," I was stuck waiting and wondering if the record would ever arrive. The seller gave me some tracking number from a Chinese shipper I never heard of. Their response to my inquires was simply reach out to Paypal for a refund. Discogs does not process payment, you are forced to use PayPal. A couple days later the album finally arrived and the packaging was bent on the side and obviously damaged. I opened the package hoping the records within were not damaged which was not the case. Both were bent due to the pressure from whatever was pressed against it. I put them on the turntable out of curiosity and the spinning record looked like a wave. The arm moved up and down as the record spun due to the bent record. I was not going to play this and damage the arm on my record player. Beyond that the expectation for the record was "mint" (perfect) condition which was not the case. I reached out to the seller for instructions on what to do and sent pictures proving damage to the packaging and record. As opposed to simply sending another undamaged copy, which any reputable seller would do, "chaorenguoguo" requested $12 for shipping! After paying $20 and waiting almost a month and a half to receive a damaged record I felt it was very unreasonable for me to pay any more money. What if the next record came damaged again? Would it take another month and a half? I told the seller that I should not have to pay more and that this is something that he should take up with the shipper. The seller told me he would take such big a loss and would not reship if I did not give him more money. I advised him that was not my problem and that he needed to resend an undamaged copy and he refused. That in itself was ridiculous so I asked for a full refund. The seller told me to reach out to Paypal. I didn't know at the time but with Paypal you are only given 45 days from when the order was originally placed to file a dispute. I called and explained my issue and Paypal said they would file a dispute with the seller. After a couple days Paypal emailed me and said that I have to return the damaged record and provide a tracking number for a refund. As long as I get my refund, whatever, I thought, so I went to the post office to ship the item. They advised me that the cheapest option to ship to China with tracking was $62. I paid $60 and I have to pay $62 to return it? Since that was not a possibility I reached back out the the seller. They said that it is Paypal's policy and that I have to return it for a refund. I again called Paypal to explain the situation. It is insane to pay more in shipping than you paid for the item. Surely they would be reasonable. I told the rep I could not provide a tracking number as it was too expensive. The rep agreed that the situation was crazy and he would file another dispute. He said that he felt confident that Paypal would rule in my favor. He also informed me that he had to act fast as my 45 day window would expire in a couple days. 45 day window? I just got the parcel! Beyond that he stated that it is not Paypal's policy to have the item returned, the seller was forcing the return for the refund to be processed. I did not get a reply for three days and the email told me that my dispute was denied as I did not provide tracking information. That's why I called them to explain! I can not return the record as it would cost me more than the initial purchase! At this point Paypal would not allow me to file another dispute as the 45 days expired. I reached out to the seller again and advised him that Paypal told me that he was forcing the return and that it is not their policy. Here is the seller's response: "If problems occurred in the order, I suggest resolve it through consultation.
I told you I can ship you another copy and you only bear little postage, but you refused. Then I confirm fully refund and you return it, you tell me the shipping is so high. Do you think I must fully refund just as your complain? It is not fair to seller, isn't it?" My concern is not what is fair to the seller, I just want what I paid for. I again advised the seller that they are forcing the return through Paypal. Here is their response: "Paypal and discogs will tell us how to do. No need to email me more. Bye." Are you kidding me? Around this time I examined the original packaging and shipping label and discovered that the seller paid $1 for shipping. $1!? And they charged me $20 to ship on the original order and they're asking for $12 more to reship! If you think this is incorrect then check this out: https://m.alibaba.com/showroom/shipping-rates-from-china-to-usa.html. So then I call paypal and again discuss the scenario. They said I did not provide tracking and that the 45 day window had expired and due to this they cannot issue a refund. The seller is forcing the return and I cannot provide tracking due to cost. At that point I escalated to 2 supervisors to appeal their ruling. The second and final supervisor said that it is not their problem and since the seller is requesting the return, I have to comply. The seller knows how expensive it is to return it and they are pinning me in an unwinnable position. Paypal told me that had always been their policy. How is this possible? Who protects the buyer here? How is it even a possibility that the seller is the one to decide if the damaged item must be returned with full knowledge that the return shipping costs more than the initial purchase? He then said what more can I do for you? He did nothing for me to begin with and proceeded to dust me off. Furious, I reach out to Discogs. Someone here had to acknowledge the absurdity of the situation and side with me. Discogs then proceeded to tell me that since they didn't process the payment they cannot force a refund. I asked them to arbitrate a resolution between myself and the seller and again Discogs refused. I told them that this was insane. They are the one's who control the site. Discogs can suspend the seller's account until they conduct themselves in a reasonable fashion and we agree upon a solution. They said they could not do that. I reviewed Discogs policy on seller returns and here it is: "We know that refunds aren't something that you are excited about. But please remember that the seller must honor all returns with a full refund; we encourage you to work with the buyer to reach an accommodation on return shipping costs." This was never done which is a clear violation of Discogs policy. The seller attempted to extort $12 more in shipping from me, when they only paid $1 to begin with! They acted in an unreasonable fashion and would not come up with an agreed upon solution. In Discogs own policy it states that they will suspend the seller's account if they violate their policy which is clearly what happened here. When I brought this to Discogs attention they stated that this is only a guideline and that I have to have this settled via Paypal. Are you freaking kidding me! Discogs denies responsibility as they dont process payment. Paypal denies responsibility as the shipper is requesting the return. The shipper is stating that they won't act unless Paypal or Discog's directly advises them to. So where does this leave me? $60 poorer with 2 broken records which act as a constant reminder of a sleazy seller "chaorenguoguo" who overcharges for shipping, and hides behind policy while being the catalyst for the return the whole time effectively succeeding in stealing $60 from me in exchange for damaged goods. That and the deplorable customer service of both Paypal and Discogs who continue to deny responsibility. I will never again do business with either site and discourage others from using them as well. I cannot believe both would allow this seller to blatantly steal from a customer, and then deny all responsibility. If anyone has experienced this and are pursuing a class action lawsuit I am in. I cannot allow these sites to continue to take advantage of honest people as they do.

My painful adventures on Discogs.com
September 1, 2016

After almost 2 years of purchasing albums from Discogs with 91 purchases and over $2500. 00 dollars spent on hundreds of albums here's my take on Discogs. About 30% to maybe 35% of the sellers actually use the goldmine grading system that the sellers are required to use! As per the sellers agreement that the sellers have to sign. The other 65% to 70% over grade by at least one if not two levels and some even more, I have even had sellers tell me they had their own grading system Unfortunately the sellers agreement is not enforced by Discogs when it comes to grading.

When you actually call a seller on their poor grading most of the time they offer you a refund of some percentage to make you happy never actually giving you the record as they described it in their add so it's just another cheap poorly graded record in the collection instead of that near mint copy that you paid for and are now still looking for. Please don't get me wrong I have found some great sellers on Discogs but it is way too small of a percentage and they dont always have the album I am looking for.

So here's what happens if you have a problem with a purchase. I received a $48 dollar record from Switzerland that arrived folded into a very nice V that fit into my mailbox (Duh) really! The seller shipped it in a thin folded over piece of cardboard mailer that was clearly used with labels on top of labels, without a backing board, (funny the seller even admitted that this had happened before) I contacted the seller and let him know, he wanted pictures I sent them, he then wanted me to return the album, I asked him if he would repay return shipping knowing that he was not required to do so and also asked for a return address to ship it to as I could not even come close to reading his chicken scratch, 14 days later I had to ask Discogs to threaten to suspend his account just to get a response with an address, I filed a PayPal dispute after posting in the forum and being told this is what I should do, I also put in a support ticket with Discogs, they did nothing, I won but to get my refund I had to return ship the record with tracking, the cheapest USPS with tracking was $50 and I just cant spend another $50 to get my $48 back, I tried for over 45 days to get the seller to answer yes or no if he would cover the shipping cost, he never did, he also never offered a partial refund to soften the hit, so I left honest, truthful negative feedback without a personal attack in it because I'm out $48 dollars, I have a shattered record and now I have a retaliatory negative feedback that has two personal attacks in it, although Discogs doesnt think so as I asked them to remove it and they wouldnt, this adventure included 2 support tickets with multiple emails and a feedback review with a sorry for your luck statement, thanks so much Discogs.

Bottom line the feedback system on Discogs is a complete Farce that promotes deceptive selling practices. Sellers over-grade records and buyers live in fear of retaliatory negative feedback if you dare to leave legitimate negative feedback, so even if you try to find good sellers amongst the bad ones its pretty much a trial and error and youre out your dough. Buyers are so afraid of getting retaliatory negative feedback that they are leaving positive feedback with a negative remark so really you have to go and read all the feedback and then go to the buyers feedback to see if retaliatory negative feedback was left, its really a convoluted mess that is impossible to navigate and get right. Looking for those really good sellers is getting harder and harder.

I have finely had my fill of feedback insanity, over- graded records and no buyer support that I have decided to never purchase from Discogs again and Im in the process of looking for a different record database program.

Please if youre a collector that cares about his or her records thinking of using Discogs dont save yourself the trouble. If youre a current Discogs user and think their great because you havent had a problem yet, remember that yet stands for Youre Eligible Too and that its not a matter of IF you will have a problem its a matter of WHEN. If you dont really care about the grade of your records Discogs is great but I will leave you with this word of warning, Shipping One record to Europe with tracking from USPS was $50 so steer clear of overseas records as its a total crap shoot that they will get here undamaged, almost all overseas albums that I purchased had at least 2 corner bumps or more (goodbye NearMint) if you have made it this far I thank you for your time.

I WAS SCAMMED by DISCOGS
May 25, 2016

Hello! I am MIRCEA POPA from Romania.
I`ve just become a victim on this totally online scam business called DISCOGS. Three years ago I decided to become a member of this comuninty making an account because I had some ROMANIAN LP that they aren`t listed on DISCOGS database and I learned that DISCOGS is like WIKIPEDIA of LPs and CDs. GReat idea, I said thinking abot the DISCOGS.So I scanned the LP and I submitted on DATABASE helping other collector to buy or to sell the items.
But 2 weeks ago after I submitted 58 LPs and CDs I received an automatic email from DISCOGS tells me that I was suspended to put new LP tell me that I have put on CIP (Contributors IMprovement Programs) an automatic software that detects that submissions have errors and the users are punished by forbiding them to put another LP for undetermined time.So to be put out of CIP meaning regain the right to submit new LPs Discogs offer the banned user who submit LPS a "good plan" to be removed from CIP.The user must enter to a forum and gain enough correct votes from other privileged users who had a right of vote the submissions of the users and after obtained enough correct votes, the user will be put out of CIP and regain the right to submit new LPs. For example if you have 500 LPs and CDs and you want to sell them but the items were not listed on DISCOGS, you will submit them on DISCOGS. But after you submit 50 of them, DISCOGS banned you to submit them telling you that your submissions have errors and you must obtain enough correct votes from other privillege users telling you to enter on Discogs forum on a thread about CIP and request votes. Smells fishy! So DISCOGS forced you to bribe (with PAYPAL money)other users to vote "correct" your submissions to regain your right to submit again.
I told my suspicion on Discogs forum. I was banned imediately and my thread about this aspect was deleted by Discogs staff. I filed 3-4 complaints(tickets) to the dIscogs staff expressing my indignation about Discogs policy of CIP. Last Friday I received an email from Discogs telling me that my account was banned from the site meaning my IP address was flagged and I can`t acces my account from my computer. Last year I started to buy some items from Discogs and I have 100% positive feedbacks. Last months I made 3 orders and I wait to receive the package. But I can`t talk to sellers because now I am banned and I can`t acces my private messages or my orders situation. It is a probability that Discogs will use my personal information without my consent and sell to a third party. It is clear that I was banned because I expose the fraudulent activity of the network to blackmail users to give me money to regain some rights of using the network.
So I was scammed. Discogs looks an excelent idea of LP database but in fact iit is an intelligent online SCAM.Do something to stop this fraud.
PS: Today I wrote this poston FB DIscogs page about my problem.

I was banned on PAGE and my post was deleted. THis is 100% prove that DISCOGS is a megascam global business. I was scammed by this company. Discogs will use or sell personal information about me without my consent. So it is 100% sca, m. Avoid it!

Avoid Discogs.Com LIKE THE PLAGUE!
April 14, 2015

I'd give this company Discogs.Com ZERO STARS if this system allowed it!
I was a Buyer who spent literally thousands and thousands on this site. And everytime I had ANY issues I would contact their "support staff". They continued time and time again to always take the seller's side and make excuses for their dishonesty, ineptitudes, or inability to conduct business fairly. This all came to a head just in the last few days where after I, who again, have been an upstanding customer with a near 100% feedback rating (2 ratings were messed up dishonest sellers who cancelled randomly but the great discogs wouldn't remove the ill deserved feedback) reported a few problems. This website DOES NOT care one iota about paying customers, no matter what their reputations. They ha dthe gaul to suspend me, again a reputable customer for a long time, for absolutely NO reason. They claimed that asking questions about items I want to buy were somehow now "harassment". When I explained to them over an dover that I am protecting my money and I have every right to ask questions. They threatened me a few times and then suspended me for the questions and for a few times ending multiple support requests to them. Imagine that, they want to rob buyers of their rights and freedoms to ask questions on things we are paying for with our hard earned money. They keep trying to tell buyers what to do with their money and bully them, This "support staff" are the worst staff I have ever ever come in contact with. Keep in mind 99% of the sellers I do business with on that site (and 6 other sites) had NO problems with my honest fair and thorough business of asking questions, making sure there are no misunderstandings, and always paying quickly. This site however rewarded my honesty as a buyer with suspension and NOW they banned me. Why? Because I told them what I thought about the bogus suspension they gave me. But I did it in a calm intelligent manner. They started deleting my support requests when I asked them to help me with a seller who lied to me on condition of a cd. So here I'm ripped off and they won't even help me! They are deleting my requests for NO reason after they suspended me for NO reason! And now they banned me. For what? Asking questions on products I am paying for. For asking questions after I entered into orders BECAUSE their site's so messed up that many emails I sent with enquiries never even got to the sellers until the orders were placed! You know how I know this? They told me on more than a few occasions that they never got the emails from me outside the order! That is discogs' responsibility and yet their 'support staff' is mistreating/chastising ME for THEIR issues... And here discogs is disciplining me for simply trying to ask questions about items I want to buy! For sending multiple support requests to them that they could have easily deleted, but instead they chastised me for it. As they chastised me for everything else. Strange I have been buying online 20+ years and NO OTHER SITE has had any issues with me as a buyer. And my business habits on discogs are just as honorable as every other site I buy. My feedback is 100%, I spend $1000's and this site has the gaul to rob me of my rights, chastise me, and ban me. For again NO reason. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER EVER buy on Discogs.Com as the second you have ANY issues they will turn their backs on you, take the sellers' side and threaten you to stay in line and not bother them or ask any questions. I never cursed at them or did anything illegal or of misconduct. And I had NOTHING but positive feedback from 99% of the sellers I dealt with... And I still got banned and they aren't even allowing me to deal with any past orders (that again I paid my money on). So they basically told me they could care less if I was ripped off on anything. Just as they could care less about anything else that a buyer deals with on there. I didn't even address the many scam sellers on discogs that will blatantly lie to customers on condition of cd's and then when they have a problem the seller blames the problem on them. Just like what happened to me on the last order that I complained to discogs which eventually got me banned. Here I'm the one getting ripped off and reaching out to discogs for help and they are banning me. DO NOT SHOP ON DISCOGS.COM.! You will regret it if you do! If anyone empathizes with this horrible injustice of how discogs.com has abused me as a buyer and person, then please send me a correspondence of what I can do to remedy this situation as I spent a great deal of money over the last year or so on their site... Thanks
E
