This company also sells on EBAY 'digitaleletech168.' I asked them two questions about a camera they were selling on EBAY and they answered back with the answers right away and asked if I wanted to buy it. According to EBAY rules they aren't allowed to sell without going through EBAY if they had it listed there. This clued me in right away that they were dishonest and I never bought it. I will be notifying EBAY about it.

I second all the negative comments digitalelect.com. Same thing happened to me, but until reading these other complaints, I didn't realize I had been had. I ordered a very expensive camera for my husband's birthday. They assured me it would ship within two days, but then they sent an e-mail to tell me I had to call them to verify something with my credit card. What a farce. They did the exact same thing as with others, selling me extra batteries for much more than what I had originally ordered. DO NOT buy from this company!

DIGITALELECT is a classic bait and switch operation and I highly recommend everyone stay clear and save themselves a lot of trouble. I purchased a Sony NEX-5 camera and the price quoted on the website was nowhere near what I ended up paying. What are standard accessories become expensive extras at DIGITALELECT. They claim that they sell discounted products but by the time you get what you need like batteries and memory cards plus outrageous shipping costs legitimate sites are cheaper. Be warned, stay clear!

I became a victim of the bait and switch scam also. Just wish I had reviewed them first. I too was told that my Canon Sx30 camera came with a 20 minute demo battery and bought the 4 hour upgrade with the extedned warranty. I became suspisious and checked with Canon directly only to find out that they only ship this camera wiht one battery and charger that I paid to upgrade. Customer service won't even respond. Filed a complaint with BBB and found them to have an F rating. Buy your camera anwhere but here. They are scam artists.

We tried to order a camera, thinking we were getting a great price; they later contacted us to say that this camera DOES NOT COME WITH A BATTERY; which is standard with all other companies... the battery would be $80.00 EXTRA, and they actually got irritated with us when we refused and told them to cancel the order! We are going to have to CANCEL our credit card now because we don't trust them to not use it anyway!

I wish I never bought this camera from Digital Elect.Com.
I got burned. The camera is awesome. Company would not credit my card to equal there so called package deal prices on-line. I don't know what else I can do. They had recorded the sale on the phone. The " Customer Service Department " has not return or responded to my e-mail to receive the fully recorded sale.

I ordered a Sony DSC-TX9 from digitalelect.com for $299.00. They called me back two days later and told me that the camera comes with a battery that lasts for 30 minutes, the charger is slow and takes 8 hours to recharge, and warranty is 3 months. They recommended me to upgrade the battery to 5 hours, upgrade the charger to a 2-hour, upgrade the warranty to 1 year. All of those upgrades plus S&H and insurance, total of $419.00. I made a huge mistake by taking their words for it.

After I received the camera, I stopped by the local Sony store and found out what digitalelect told me were not true. All the "upgrades" were not really upgrades. The camera comes standard with those "upgrades" anyway and it costs only $299.00 at the local store. I called digitalelect back but of course the customer service gave me a dance around. Please think twice when doing business with them to save you money and head aches.

I recently purchased a digital Camera. They advertise that you get what the manufacturer provides but that it might come in a non-retail white box. What they do not tell you until after you place your order is that they do not provide the battery or charger that comes with the camera from the manufacturer. They substitute a non-rechargeable 2 hour battery and then attempt to sell you additional batteries... a shady practice even if they disclosed that up front - which they do not. Once they get you for the "real" battery, the price is above that available at other, reputable dealers.

Unfortunately I found a big list of other victims only after I made my purchase. But digitalelect's methods are largely the same.
When I see "free shipping" it should mean PRECISELY that -- not some last second scam put on you that they also need to charge an additional 9% for insurance as stated on the tiny print of their policy page. I was also called by phone and they tried to upsell me for a bunch of stuff I didn't need ("I noticed that you forgot to order a memory card or rechargeable batteries...") and also they tried pulling an extra "deal" on me for an additional $10, and I got nothing more than their empty words in the delivery box. In the end I paid more than $80 additional than what their website quoted me, or over $55 what a reputable dealer like B&H charged.
I was also told my credit card statement would be listed as 'Crazy Camera Deals' but in fact something else entirely was listed.
I trusted Nextag since they were highly rated there. But every complaint they get about DE they give the store a chance to reply (always like 'we were honest, please call our customer service line') and the store has the last word.
These bait-and-switch tactics are totally misleading and they appear to have several false fronts and store names. I warn everyone who reads this to stay away from DigitalElect.com, and you check the Policy page of that online store to see if they have some BS line like they will also add on their own 'insurance cost'.
Good places like B&H or Amazon are honest about "Free Shipping".

They show you one price to get you to buy then they don't follow up emailing you the order with pricing so they can get you on the phone to verify something stupid so they can try and sell you up with accessories at high prices. If you don't go for their extras they jack up the price of the camera.
I got charged $44 more for the listed price on the camera I bought and they said they gave me a package deal. No deal, just bare bones out of the box with the only extra was a lens cleaning kit that you can buy for a couple of bucks! Bottom Line is, find a reputable store to buy from, these guys rip you off!

Their website was not what sold me. Nextag said they were the best price for the Nikon d3100 camera by a few dollars. But Digital Elect sells you supposed "upgrades" that are standard items and then charges WELL above where their true value is. I bought a Nikon d3100 that was supposed to be $569.00 and was sold on "extras" that I later found out were standard on all Nikon d3100 cameras (the battery and battery charger they sold me were included and not really upgrades) and the high speed memory card was nothing special and I wound up getting charged $400 for $40 of extras after much research. Customer service (maybe the owner) is surly and I was put on hold for several minutes when I chose Customer Service. When someone answered they said I had dialed another department and made me wait several more minutes for Customer Service. They would not do the right thing and let me keep the camera for the price advertised. And I found it $10 less at another retailer online and was told they'd match other prices. But they insisted that I send it back and wanted me to pay restocking fees at first until I cancelled payment with my credit card.

After purchasing a canon camera for my daughter, I received a phone call 2 days later informing me that the camera only comes with a temporary battery that will die after 20 minutes. I had never heard of such utter nonsense in my life! Then the person proceeded to try to sell me a 5 hour battery and recharger for sixty dollars, continually repeating that the battery that comes with the camera was basically disposable and that he was offering me a great deal on the 5 hour battery. I immediately asked for my order to be cancelled. I did receive a confirmation e-mail that stated that my order was cancelled and my credit card was not charged. It was just yesterday, so I will continue to look at my bank statements to insure that i was not charged. Please do not order from this site, wish I had read the reviews before I ordered, would have saved time and trouble

I found this company on Nextag when I was searching for a camera, and it had a high customer rating there. They had the lowest price by about $25 after shipping charges were added - and no 9.5% state sales tax that we have here in Washington. I got the email with my order number and the statement that the order had to be cleared through their "order verification department" before it was finalized. I got a little suspicious at that time, and, when I got the voicemail that asked me to call them, I got really suspicious. Only then did I read the negative reviews on the internet.
When I called I also got the song and dance about a 20 minute battery. I immediately asked to cancel my order. The salesman agreed and that was that. I received an email that the order was canceled. The low price appears to be a magnet so they can get you on the phone and sell you stuff. As soon as they knew I wasn't going to be sucked in, they dropped me and went on to the next person.
Nextag should not list this seller!

I had a very BAD experience with this company, I purchased a camera from them over the new year weekend, When monday came around I recieved a e-mail saying they couldnt process my order without speaking to me first.
So I called the company got a story about a battery that i needed and it was on sale for 50% off from the manufacturer, I was busy at work and said do I NEED this battery for the camera to work? They said yes you do, so i said send it to me but if i find out I don't need it I will be ****** He went on to say why would I lie to you... Didnt you read the website information!
So when I got a break I went to the website and found out the information he gave me was bogus and I called the company NO answer, Called three times more, Left a message on the answering machine and then finally called another number from the first e-mail I recieved and got a rep... I asked to cancel the order and they wouldnt give me the cancellation code that they say you HAVE to get from the company via phone, And so i asked to speak to a manager, At this point I was livid and just wanted my cancellation code, I put him on speaker so that the employees of my job could hear how he was being rude, Screaming at me and refusing to give me the cancellation code I requested... When he realized i was on speaker phone after 5 minutes of his rude behavior he spat that both orders were cancelled and he hung up on me!
I called discover and blocked any charges from the company EVER... theyr a BAIT and SWITCH company BEWARE!

What other customers said about this outfit are true, they are very dishonest. I WOULD NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN. I ordered a Canon camera, thinking getting it at a great price, but only was notified by e-mail that I need to call back to "verify" my order. During the phone conversation, I was told the camera came only with a single-use demo battery and I need to purchase a rechargeable one. I told them their online spec says it comes with battery pack and other necessary accessories, and I fully expect the camera be at its full functionalities right out of the factory box. If this is not the case, they can cancel my order. The man at the other end, without hesitation, said that your order is cancelled. Obivously, selling that camera at the listed price does not make sense to them, and they would either have to make a significant profit on selling other add-ons or not sell it at all.
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!

Terrible company
All they do is lie to try to make the sale or make another sale.
I placed my order on December 3rd. I called to confirm my item was in stock. I made it very clear that I needed my item by the 14th. They said that it would take 2-3 days to process and 5-8 days to ship for an average of 10 days and that while it might be close it would arrive on time.
On the 5th I called again and asked if my order had been processed, they said it had and it would ship that day.
On the 7th I called again and asked if my order would ship. They said it would ship that day.
On the 8th I called and asked if I could cancel my order and was told it had shipped already but there was no tracking code.
Late on the 13th now I got an email informing me that my order had shipped. Only now, 10 full days after I placed the order has it finally gotten out of their warehouse. That is pretty bad for something that was supposedly in stock and was promised to have been shipped twice 7 and 8 days ago.

Each time I called the company assured me that everything was fine and that things would arrive on time. They also tried various scams to sell me overpriced batteries or memory cards.

Much of this companies public relations excuses hinge on it being a warehouse seller. What about being in the warehouse direct business involves lying?

I will never EVER use this company again. All they do is lie.

I had ordered a Camcorder for my wife for Christmas. I was called telling me that this model was "no longer available". I was being "upgraded" for free (there's my first hint) to a better model. Then it was batteries, the one's that come with the camera are not good enough. Then that led into why I didn't just purchase the "package deal" that they had with a bag, batteries, etc. When I asked the price, it was going to be just over $900. I said NO because I wasn't familiar with this camcorder and I wanted to research it first. (Thank GOD I did that.)
The funny thing is that the original camcorder I wanted to order is STILL listed as "In Stock" on their website. Not only that, the camcorder I was being "upgraded to" was listed for $609. That's $300 LESS than what I was quoted by Alan on the phone!

S T A Y A W A Y F R O M T H I S W E B S I T E!

Look them up on BBB if you have any doubt in your mind. I did, and canceled my credit card for protection. BBB has their location on Google Maps. Looks questionable to me if you read their "policies" page as to their explaination as to why they can sell so cheap. Also did a reverse phone search on their phone number. Oddly enough it doesn't come back listed as a place of business.

Well i ordered a canon 7d of their website. It was a package deal it came with the lens and everything, the price that was advertised was 1,385 dollars. I in my head was thinking oh what a great deal im buying it... i gave them my credit card info and everything, then the said, my order was successful and they gave me a order number without any other info just that number. A day later they called me on my cellphone and told me that the camera that i bought was in a package and i had to add 300 dollars i though to myself ughh w/e I'll get the package. Two weeks later my camera comes in, i open the package and i see a white box reading canon 50d i was like damn the screwd up my order i called them and talked to them about and the guy told me i ordered a canon 50D when i clearly had a call from a customer service agent telling me need to buy the package they said no they have no record of this. I was starting to get annoyed and then i asked them if i can replace the camera i got with the canon 7d he told me yes, then he told me how my much my total was going to be 1900 dollars and the price they have it advertised is 1385. I was like what! What do you mean 1900 dollars the price on your website says 1385 the guy told me that you had to buy a package... DO NOT BUY FROM THIS WEBSITE THEY ARE LIARS! THEY RIP YOU OFF, THEY HAVE A F ON THE BBB BE WARNED, i am also trying to set up a lawsuit with this company for false advertising.
