I own a house with quite a history and have been told by neighbors at least 2 people died in my house. But, the report I paid $15 for yielded no results of any deaths or crimes when I know otherwise. It just gave me a comprehensive list of all the registered sex offenders in my area. Not worth it. I'm going to have to go through police records to find out. The house is haunted and I need real info. Don't waste your money here.

It's ok

It ran the report and came back that no one had died in my house. I did some digging and can't prove anything otherwise, so I can only assume it's accurate. The price is a little steep, though, at $12 for a single search.

Definitely not worth it
October 31, 2023

My home was built in early 1700s, lasting through both the Revolutionary War and Civil War. According to the report from DiedInHouse, they could not find any records of death. That must be why this house feels so crowded at times. The list of names associated with the property consisted of only those from 2000 on … an obvious scam — very disappointed.

I'm the original owner, still alive. A neighbor 2 doors down the street came to our house. She was frantic because her mother had just committed suicide. I gave the police report. The police collected my name and address. DiedInHouse likely obtained that report, didn't read it, didn't care, or probably doesn't know how to read.

My grandmother and cousin died in the same house. I wanted to see if this website was legit. I figured it was only $10, so I gave it a try. The report came up empty, no deaths. This is a garbage business. It's not even worth my time to get my money back, but if I can save one person their $10, let that person be you. DO NOT use this stupid, worthless website.

Read Reviews, Tried Anyway & Ripped Off
March 16, 2021

I came to this site and read the reviews, so I guess it was my fault since I was prewarned. I just bought a house where the guy died (of natural causes) in, and I was talking to the neighbor when he mentioned how the the guys girlfriend had shot herself in the face a few years back and committed suicide in the home. I've been trying to find out who this person is and the details of it with no luck. I came across this site, and after reading the reviews, I thought no way... but as time went by with no luck searching, I decided to give it a try. It came up 0 results, when I know at least 2 people died in this house. Don't waste your money and get ripped off like I did!

Critical info
September 29, 2021

I firmly believe that people should utilize this site. My brother was bludgeoned to death in his garage, and the current owner (by legal default) harassed our family, destroyed mementos, and testified for the defense during the murder trial. The perpetrator was convicted of first-degree murder with special circumstances. Kristin McDowell, the present occupant, is a wretched, nefarious succubus with whom I would not condescending to transact business. If this home goes on the market, I would advise against its purchase. Kristin sent the bill for my brother's body parts to be cleaned from the murder scene. Kristin, and this home, are an abomination.

Total Sham
October 12, 2018

I did a test, using my old address where my grandmother died. The search came up with no deaths. I immediately contacted them for a refund. They told me I had to provide proof that my grandmother died in the house. I sent a newspaper clipping where it clearly states both in the body of the text and the headline that she died at her residence. They said they would not refund but would update the report. So basically I paid and had to do the work myself. I tried to contact them by phone but the message on their phone says that they no longer offer support over the phone and you have to contact them via email. I reached out several times and they did not return my emails. I escalated the claim to Paypal and and putting in a complaint with my credit card company. They said it clearly states "No refunds" and they don't have all records and you should do your home work and ask neighbors, your realtor, and double check records yourself. Then what the hell do we need them for?

A Waste of Money!
April 15, 2021

I looked up 3 addresses, 2 of which I knew people had died in their homes. What I got back in the report was, 1 address just listed those who had lived in the home (as expected). The other 2 listed people who had lived at the addresses, of which some were now deceased, but couldn't say whether they had passed away in their homes or elsewhere. Anyone can find out if someone is deceased, as well as, who lived at a particular address. And you don't have to pay for that information. In my opinion, this is a scam, plain and simple.

Scam
February 2, 2018

This site told me there are ZERO registered sex offenders in the zip code *******. There are almost 500! Many are very close to the house I am thinking about renting. Now I have no way of knowing if there has been a death in the house, because this site is a scam...

Completely inaccurate
September 15, 2022

I searched 3 addresses for 30.00. The first was a house on the street where I grew up where a very tragic and gruesome murder occurred around 1982, but the site said there was no record of any deaths on the property. The second was my grandparent's house, where the previous owner committed suicide in the house. Granted, it was back in the 1960's, but the site indicated no deaths on the property. Finally, I checked my own address and it said no deaths on the property but now know they would not likely know if one had occurred. So, a waste of $30, which maybe I deserve for my morbid curiosity.

Waste of money

I entered my parents address, where there was a fire 13 years ago. My family occupied the property then and still owns it. The previous owner died in the house and was not found for many days after her death. Nothing showed up in the search.

Initial report useless
November 10, 2016

No value here. I wanted to see some details about recent death in apartment that I know occurred. Listed no deaths found. Did list apartment renters, including person who died there. Did flag a few of those renters has having died but with no indication that it was at that address. I assume they died after moving. Most other info, which I really wasn't looking for anyway, was not filled in. Such as school info, demographics of the area, etc.

I am sorry that you are not pleased with your report. A death not displaying on a report does not mean that it did not occur; all it means is that we were not able to find it. The site was created to help people who care to know, find out if a death has occurred at an address. Since you are stating that a death has occurred at this address, I will go ahead and update this address in our database for future customers.

There are roughly 5 Million positive records of death in our database, we gain roughly 500,000 new records per year, but we are not even close to having all records.

As we state in our FAQ, Terms and Disclaimer, we do not have all deaths at an address, therefore we also provide all of the names that we can find that are associated to the address, then let you know out of that list who have been reported as deceased. This allows you to expedite your research. A DiedinHouse.com report is not a one stop shop, in addition to running a report, we always recommend to continue to do your due diligence by asking the owner, your agent, the neighbors and local government agencies.

Please review our FAQ to learn more about DiedinHouse.com before making a purchase. Also feel free to email us any questions before purchasing at: info@DiedinHouse.com.

Also, in 30 days we will rerun the address through the system and provide you a second updated report. In 30 days simply log into your account to find your updated report, hopefully we will be able to find some additional information.

Don't waste your money. I found out that most states aren't required to keep databases for this stuff, so your search will most likely come up with nothing.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
September 10, 2017

When I bought my first fixer-upper the neighbors told me the house was famous for a cheating wife having been shot in bed. A co-worker's mother remembered it being a local sensation. The house did come with a bratty, as opposed to scary, ghost.
My search, NOTHING, not even the name of the seller who lived there for 40 years.
Another property, a wonderful tenant of 14 years died there... NOTHING, not even his name.
L wasted $19.99 on three reports. Wish l had read the reviews first!

Phony...
August 9, 2016

I did 2 searches to see if this was real and it's a fake. My mother and father passed away in the same apt and it told me no deaths had occurred there. My father died in 2001 there from cancer and my mother just passed away on April 16th this year in the same apartment. Then I ran another search of an old neighbor who killed his wife and then killed himself by taking an overdose and the same thing happened. No result of any murder/suicide at that address. I lived 2 houses away from these people. Don't waste your money.

Susan,

Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your parents. I am also sad to hear about the tragic death of your neighbors.

I am sorry that the system did not find the record that you were looking for and that you are not pleased with our service. A death not displaying on a report does not mean that it did not occur; all it means is that we were not able to find it and our data providers do not have any records of the event. It would be impossible to have every death that occurred in a home, but we are doing our best to tie in as much data as we can and as fast as we can.

Your service is not complete; we will now do some further research for you online during the next 30 days. We will contact you immediately upon finding any additional information. Also, in 30 days we will rerun the address through the system and provide you a second updated report. In 30 days simply log into your account to find your updated report, hopefully we will be able to find some additional information.

We do not have or claim to have all of the records. No one has all the data on anything. Car, house, or even background check report companies and government agencies do not have all data. This includes the big three credit bureaus and the US government. Even though we state that in the Disclaimer, Terms and Conditions, FAQ and in all of our press, some customers think that we do claim to have it all. If we could have it all that would indeed be nice, but it is not reality. Therefore we do our best to provide our customers with as much data as possible so that they can make the best decision for themselves before deciding to buy or rent their new home.

As of today there are roughly 5 Million positive records of death in our database and we increase that count by 500,000 per year, but we are not even close to having all records. We have roughly 350,000 manual entered records that can reach back as far as the 1800’s, but most of our records, automated and manual are from the mid-1980s to present.

Our disclaimer states that DiedinHouse.com is merely a great tool to use to assist you with finding out if someone has died at a specific address. It is always recommended that before anyone purchases or rents a home, to run a Died in House Report, ask the seller if they are aware of any deaths, speak with neighbors, search the address online and check government records for any information related to the property.

DiedinHouse.com was developed to help people who care to know, find out if a death has occurred at an address before they decide to buy or rent. In most states it is not required to be disclosed to buyers or renters. This happened to me and I felt that a tool like this could help others like me as well as Realtors who are searching on behalf of their clients.

Please review our FAQ to learn more about DiedinHouse.com before making a purchase. Also feel free to email us any questions before purchasing at: info@DiedinHouse.com.
