I had a seller grossly misrepresent the item she sent me. At first I thought it might have been an honest mistake, so tried contacting her. Her response was basically "oh well you can sell it to make your money back."
So, I left her a negative review and contacted DePop. DePop refused to help, saying that I had to go through PayPal. Meanwhile, the seller started threatening me via personal messages.
Based on the evidence, PayPal ruled lightning-fast in my favour, but I had to return the items. So I ended up being a lot out of pocket for the shipping.
But, I figured even though I didn't get much of a "refund" (only about $3 once the cost of return shipping was factored in), that I was finally through all of this.
Just yesterday DePop emails me to claim that I left "inappropriate" and/or "dishonest" feedback and that they've put a strike against my account.
I'm guessing that the seller (scammer) wanted the review removed. Rather than trying to contact me, or find out that PayPal had ruled that the seller was in the wrong, they just punish the victim and allow the seller to continue scamming.
Absolutely horrible service. Do not use.
Purchased 3 items that were all the same size but when they arrived 2 of them were kids sizes and one was regular womans size. I tried to return with the seller but she stopped responding so I contacted customer service. They told me to return the items with tracked shipping (cost $55) and they would refund me. The seller claimed to never receive the items and depop refused to give me a refund because the 'tracked shipping' didn't include a postal code which Canada Post doesn't do for security reasons. I had the customs information attached which showed proof of address but it still wasn't enough. After about 20 emails back and fourth I opened a dispute with my bank. Depop has now suspended my account and sent me this email:
As we haven't heard back from you, we've had to take the action of suspending your account.
We urge you to contact your bank and withdraw this dispute claim as soon as possible so that we can assist you.
Please note, you will be unable to open any further accounts on Depop unless this situation has been resolved.
Please do let me know if you need any further information to resolve this.

Absolutely awful customer service. I don't need my account because I won't be shopping from your company again.
I just want to make other depop sellers aware of the VERY POOR delivery service Depop is offering in collaboration with Hermes: 3 out of 7 parcel I have posted using this service got missing and received ZERO help. After MANY emails to the costumer service (almost 2 months) it turns out that I have to refund the buyer out of my pocket, and depop will cover only £20 - I have been told it was my decision to use their service (advertised as a wonderful and safe solution for people shielding during the pandemic), so I should pay the consequences. Basically like if I advertise myself for a project, get the money, screw up the project and then blame it to employer as it was his choice to give the project to me, not taken responsibility for the very poor service provided. I hope this post/review is useful to other people that would naively trust Depop delivery like I did - is crap, they know, and won't do anything to help or rectify it!
Depop is good to buy some cheap "vintage" bs, but NEVER buy anything expensive here. THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING! If you have any issues they just send you a paypal link and ask to open a dispute there. 0 customer service. This platform is just a joke.
Absolutely disappointing purchased something a month ago and still not even sent by seller and no communication and depop customer service was useless
DO NOT USE DEPOP! My item got lost using their postal service and they won't refund the amount.
Their customer service is atrocious and as they retain your funds until they feel like paying out, there's nothing you can do.
USE EBAY INSTEAD
Out of the 9 purchases I've made in the past 6 months, 5 of them have been problematic.
Here are the issues I've had:
-Seller who doesn't ship for over a week with zero communication/ignoring messages
-Taking two weeks to ship with constant excuses
-Photos deliberately taken to hide stains and no mention of them in the description
-Being sold a fake brand name item, being told "tough luck" by the seller, and then being dragged through a PayPal claim just to pay expensive return shipping in the end
4 out of 5 of those purchases were from sellers with amazing reviews. These are issues that I have never run into when buying on other apps such as eBay or Poshmark. I now feel extremely hesitant to buy on Depop, and I removed all of my own listings because I can't imagine the types of problems that arise being a seller on this app.
I only give two stars rather than one because Depop staff did act extremely quickly to remove unfair feedback on my account when a seller retaliated against me for opening and winning a PayPal claim (counterfeit item). Also, when I manage to find a seller who is reliable, I enjoy the items that I can find here. There just needs to be higher standards for sellers.
This seller sends you tattered old clothes instead of the ones you ordered and then ignores you and refuses refund when you try to contact them. SCAM!
Took almost £10 in fees for an item I sold on 17th Sept. I'm still waiting for MY MONEY. Use ebay cheaper fees and they don't hold money for over 2 weeks. Would give 0 stars if I could
A seller sold me a pair of pants that were heavily edited to appear to be a totally different color than they were in real life. I asked the seller respectfully what resolution we could come to. What did the seller do? She doxxed me on Reddit, then proceeded to call me crazy via DMs, harass me on Facebook and even deployed her friends to harass me. She also left a completely fictitious review on my account.
Depop sided with her, despite all the photos and screenshots I sent in of everything. I am so disgusted that she received absolutely no consequences for her unprofessional and unethical behavior. So it's okay she can endlessly harass and bully me, and I haven't even gotten a refund on the POS item I received which was completely inaccurately advertised, and she doesn't even get a slap on the wrist?
Completely unacceptable. Looking into my legal options against the seller and against Depop. Originally, Depop said the review I left on her account would be allowed, due to the mountains of evidence I sent them. Well suddenly, I get a random email from Depop saying my account has been flagged, and my review has been removed for abusive language. My review only stated the facts. Yes, I mentioned she posted my personal information to Reddit. All buyers should be made aware of this, so the same doesn't happen to them when they get scammed!
If there's one thing for sure the customer service reps don't thoroughly read emails… it's almost like they don't read the details you put for the issue at all because every time I've ever reached out to them I've had to explain myself and talk to them like LITERAL BABIES in email 5–6X before I can get them to actually acknowledge the issue(s) at hand.
ABSOLUTELY USELESS CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Wouldn't even give them 1 start.
Take money out of your account with no notice what so ever. Resolve the issue in hand, then take the money out again. Been waiting over a month to get my money back and none of their customer service team seems to care about their customers.
Never using them again.
It's been a while since I shopped on DePop after a particularly bad experience. I had a seller grossly misrepresent an item (listing said it was a size 10… it was in fact a size zero).
When I contacted the seller she said "sorry I don't do refunds". So I opened a case.
Then I started getting numerous threatening messages from her after opening the case and leaving a negative review. She kept telling me that I had to remove the negative review, that she wanted both items sent back immediately, and other nasty messages. It got to the point where I called the police for advice - I was scared because she had my address. They told me I could open a report, but I decided to hold off.
I ended up sending the items back - and she did refund me - but it cost me more to ship it than I got back.
Fast forward about 6 months- and I get a message from DePop saying that she flagged my review as a false review and they threatened to ban me.
I told them what had happened- sent all the messages. They didn't really care. I told them to delete my account.
Meanwhile she can continue scamming people with no consequences.
Honestly this is the worst customer service team I've ever experienced. They ate extremely unprofessional and biased. They delete listings for no reason and ignore you for the most part.
I been selling on depop for years and I always had problems by them mistaking me and shutting my account off 3 TIMES! They don't give any warnings! They have bad customer service! They don't even have A number to call to complain! I had so many positive reviews, once again they closed my account because of a item they didn't agreed with which was brand new makeup! Now they won't give me my account back! So AVOID DEPOP THEY SO BAD WITH DEALING WITH COMPLAINTS AND SOLVING IT
Depop is an absolute disgrace. It's where so called customers go for a freebie, to steal money & goods from honest sellers & getting you shut down because Depop have an inefficient customer service platform and permits them to lie & get away with it. You list all details as an honest seller, actual pictures of the item, give customer services all the info they require to prove your innocence but still they go in favour of the dodgy customer after a freebie & your account is shut down & they keep your takings dispite your great track record of sales & feedback over the past few years! They shut your listings down for word descriptions also, I don't mean copies etc I mean actual style wording as apparently its classed as insulting. Had that numerous times, so this is the last straw, I don't want the account back, keep it! Plus FEES are high, as well as sellers being treated like dirt, you have to keep reshreshing your listings to get em seen daily/hourly, you can never talk to just one person in customer services, you get several in the space of an hour, it's the worst selling platform iv had the displeasure of using! Stick with other better well known selling platforms folks, save yourselves the time, money, stress & inappropriate guilty before proven otherwise. Absolute sh!$ show!
Yes its not safe, I had very bad experience with this app, it's not the app itself but the people who managing it in the UK, one of them called Grace she ordered an item from me then she asked for refund and I refunded her but she didn't send me back my item, instead she closed my account.
The people who managing this app in the UK are NOT professionals, and one like Grace is truly thief.
For parents do not allow your kids to use that app its NOT safe to give Depop your bank account details or your Paypal details.
On the 26th of June my account was closed due to 'the use of stock images'.
Since then there has been a lot of back and forth between myself and various employees. Some asked me to provide proof that images were mine, some insisted that my photos are in fact stock pictures.
What doesn't help is that each time a different person responds to my query therefore the whole conversation is incredibly inconsistent.
I guarantee that all images on my profile were taken by me. I tried to explain many times that some were taken years ago on models (I have provided screenshots of my Instagram from about 6-7 years ago to show some of the photos). The more recent listings had pictures of clothes on either the floor or the hanger as I have a one year old child and no longer have the time to do proper photo shoot.
The staff keeps insisting that I use stock images however they are unable to prove it. Even though I showed that some photos are still in my camera roll and some are on my Instagram. I have no reason to lie about this.
I've had my account suspended in the past for using stock images, I apologised and vowed to never use stock images again. Since then I have taken HOURS to take and edit photos of all my items as I desperately wanted to do better and keep my account and improve it since it's my only source of income as a stay at home mum.
This whole ordeal has caused me an insane amount of stress and frustration as I have basically been accused of lying and stealing photos that are all mine! Even as I am writing this email I am so upset and angry that I am shaking.
The fees are insanely high that Depop charges. They also have a ridiculous shipping system that will end you with making less than $1 profit (this is if you charge fair prices in your shop)! I see no reason why they have the fees that high when Depop is pretty simple and bare min type of platform service...
This platform manipulates sellers to price items way higher than normal or what is appropriate. Or, the seller ends up eating costs or making VERY little profit despite doing all the work and SELLING an item to someone + mailing it out. I wish this could be remedied, but with the way the 1% runs everything and the less privileged are forced to use crappy unfair platforms like Depop to attempt to keep the lights on.
Also, the site forces you to be 'active' regularly but gives no timeline as to what that equals. Not sure how this is okay? I noticed last week I had been on the app, liked some other sellers items and even replied to a msg- yet the next day Depop took my profile down stating I hadn't used the app recently enough.
The longer I use Depop the more angry and used I feel. :(
Very frustrating platform, I've never experienced one so unprofessional. Not sure if they have any real people working at DePop or just bots. Have removed several of my items with no warning, I'm assuming because they are higher end designer items. I emailed with proof of authenticity (certificate of authenticity from 3rd party professional service, I sell vintage and have all items authenticated), no response. I feel like my account has been flagged now because they keep removing item after item. I have proof of authenticity for all my items. They either have people who have no idea what they are doing working for them or they just delete items randomly. It's completely bizarre. The email response was generic and unhelpful and asked me to provide proof of authenticity AFTER I had already supplied certificates! Their customer service makes me think they are part of a program that gives jobs to cognitively impaired and illiterate recently paroled inmates trying to reintegrate into society.
Answer: Major scam. And not worth the fees they will charge you to sell. Rubbish and rude customer service, and the people buying off you will try to scam you by lieing to Depop and PayPal saying they never received the item. But when you track the tracking number they've signed for the item themselves!
Answer: An apparent availability of items that were not available elsewhere. Turns out that the reason that they were available is that they were fakes and frauds.
Answer: It might be a scam honestly, i would say open a dispute with them. Mercari is a lot better btw, way cheaper. Mercari also holds the money until your item is delivered and you inspect and review the item.
Answer: Right with you on this. Jerks banned my account and I've never had any bad reviews and nothing but positive sales but they will continue to allow scammers to steal your stuff and still haven't seen any of my payments from items I sold since they stopped my account. They said today I should get my money by 7/9/2023 it's 9/6/2023. So apparently they don't even know what month we are in right now. Idiots
Depop has a rating of 1.2 stars from 265 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Depop most frequently mention customer service, buyer protection and tracking number. Depop ranks 570th among Marketplace sites.
