Decluttr Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor communication, prolonged shipping delays, and issues with product quality and returns. Many customers report feeling misled by product descriptions and express frustration over unresponsive customer service, leading to claims of unethical practices. Conversely, a small number of reviews highlight satisfactory experiences with product quality, particularly regarding refurbished items. Overall, while some customers appreciate the selection and pricing, the overwhelming sentiment suggests a pressing need for improved transparency and reliability in customer service practices.

On 11/30/20 I purchased a Pixel 3 in pristine condition (order R*******). The phone was shipped quickly, and I received it and activated it on 12/3. Immediately upon booting up the phone I noticed a small pixel burn at the bottom of the boot screen. The burn persisted during regular use of the phone as well as on the lock screen. Since I had bought a phone in "pristine" condition that had allegedly passed a 90-point inspection (including a screen pixel test), I was very disappointed by this. I continued to use the phone for 3 days to see if I could live with the burn. However, on 12/6 I decided to return it.

I was disappointed to find that Decluttr offered no option for talking with someone live (phone or chat) and that I had to submit a form to request a refund. After submitting a form I waited a day. Then I waited a 2nd day. But I still had not heard from a human. Finally, on the 3rd day I found an email address and sent an email. Still no response from a human. On the 4th day I sent another email. I also began reading reviews about Decluttr online and was a bit scared by what I read: plenty of allegations of Decluttr not responding to communication and\or damaging phones that had been sold to them. I began wondering: if their communication is this bad, what would happen if I tried to get them to honor their warranty? Finally, on 12/12 I finally heard from a human. To be fair, Jenny (the agent who responded) was polite, professional, and honored my request for a full refund. She also responded to subsequent replies quickly, issued my refund promptly upon receiving the phone I sent back.

My main reason for buying from Decluttr was their advertised 12 month warranty & 90-point phone check test to certify it as refurbished. However, my experience with receiving a phone that clearly hadn't been examined closely during their 90-point check process, coupled with taking nearly a week to respond to my requests left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. Until they offer better customer service that provides responses from humans within 24 hours, I will not buy from them again.

They Broke My Phone
December 23, 2020

I was quoted $135 for my Google Pixel 3 online (order *******). I sent the phone and received an updated quote of $12 due to my phone having "software" issues. My phone worked just fine when I sent it. I requested my phone be sent back to me, which they did. Now my phone will not even turn on. I cannot charge it and there is not indication it is alive at all. Decluttr broke my phone and bamboozled me. I am not a happy camper.

One time and last time user. They 'found' issues with my device and cut the offer from $41 to $8. I just rolled over and accepted it, but will no longer do business with them.

Traded an iPhone
December 22, 2020

The process worked exactly as described. Reviewed a quote based on my description, label for return and off it went. The received it in about 5 days per UPS. They acknowledged receipt and then told me they were reviewing my phone to see if it matched what I said. Within in a day the money of the price quoted was as in my PayPal account. I know others have noted differences here but that was not the case for me. This was so much easier than trading in through my carrier. I have a very good experience and got a fair price but more importantly this was so quick and easy! I'd recommend using them in the future.

Satsfied but Suspicious
December 6, 2020

I just purchased a refurbished "very good condition" iphone 11 from Decluttr.com. The cyber monday deals seemed good so I made the purchase despite not knowing much about the company. After purchasing, I read some horrendous reviews from angry sellers who never received payment for their phones, and how the company was impossible to get in touch with. This made me very worried, but my phone arrived within 4 days of purchasing despite the holiday rush. I was also concerned that I would not get an "unlocked" device, but I did, and I am very happy with my purchase thus far. I only hope that I am able to reach the company if I need to use my warrenty, since the 12-month warranty was a big selling point for me.

Not so bad
December 2, 2020

This site is only good for the games and dvds and books, the media option. Very easy to use with the bar code scanner and the immediate price they give you. The electronics like phones and tablets you are going to get the same thing anywhere else you go, they are always going to find something wrong or are going to send you a new offer once received. You'll find that anywhere. I really had good experience with the media, they paid for the shipping labels, and they paid me quick, the same week I sent it out, and they didn't change the price for any of the games. This is the 5th time I used them and have been happy with each one. So I would recommend only using them for games, dvds books and even cds. Very good experience with those.

I deactivated my T-Mobile line that I had an extra line basically for no reason and sent in my iPhone 8 Plus. I received an offer of $226 and then they said once received that it was for a different servicer and dropped my offer to $204. I actually forgot to remove my T-Mobile Sim card for my T-Mobile phone. The phone was brand new because Apple had to replace it when they lost mine so other than that they reduced it once received and claimed it was for a different provider so please be careful even if you send brand new items into them they will make up some excuse to lower your offer.

Bad business
November 22, 2020

I had an iPhone 7 Plus in perfect condition. Decluttr said they'd give me $181.00 for it so I sent it in. I got an email back from them saying that the microphone didn't work so their offer was reduced to $56.00. Before I wiped my personal data and settings from the phone I regularly had conversations on speakerphone and did FaceTime with my grandkids. After I wiped the phone I put it in a box on a shelf; nothing happened to it that would have caused damage to the microphone. I declined their offer, and got an email saying my phone would be returned to me in 1 or 2 days. When that didn't happen I contacted customer service and eventually I did get the phone back, without the accessories that I'd sent in with it. Check out all of the complaints filed against Decluttr with the Better Business Bureau and you'll see that this kind of experience is unfortunately common with them.

I am an eBay seller and decided to use Decluttr to clear some inventory and space. I had in total sent in 7 boxes and around 90 items total over the period of a few days. One of my boxes was a box of 11 books. I did not receive a payment. I checked the tracking and it was late for some reason making it to Decluttr. All the boxes I sent before and after that particular box made it days before this one box. I figured I didn't receive a payment because the box was just late which is weird since I mailed it with two other boxes that made it earlier. After sending a complaint for not getting a payment for the one box, I got a message that 3 of the books were "missing". Those three books were all college text books that weren't your usual. 10 or. 15 book. Even though I purged these books as an eBay seller, I knew they could eventually sell for $30 or more on eBay. I purged them anyway needing to circulate inventory. My payment is being held up due to the books missing from my box. I can only conclude they were stolen by a book seller while the box was in route that recognized the shipping label was to Decluttr and needed to source books during the lockdowns or maybe a Decluttr employee may have stolen it themselves. These ARE just allegations but the fact that 3 college textbooks which ARE valuable to resell went "missing" and I may not get a payment is ridiculous. I have more inventory I want to send in but will likely use another company since I don't think this will be resolved in a manner that will satisfy me. Maybe Decluttr can prove I DID send those books in by matching the weight of the box from UPS vs the combined weight of the books on the order in total. 3 textbooks missing would cause a 4-ish pound discrepancy. Not happy.

SCAM COMPANY
November 18, 2020

You will get $0 for your phone while they claimed they would pay $100+. Upon receiving my phone, they claim that the phone is not authentic or has a non-US specification... while I got this phone directly from Verizon. I got my iphone stolen, which I could've sold for at least $50 at other places. Please look for other places if you are willing to sell your product, because they will take it for free.

Extremely poor customer service is a generous review of the assistance I received through this company. I purchased a phone that was advertised as "unlocked," (with the sales invoice clearly stating this information) however the phone came requiring a SIM password, in other words, it is locked. Mistakes happen however I feel when this is the case a company should be eager to alleviate the issue. Weeks after trying to activate my phone I am still unable to use it and there is no way to recieve any real help. Decluttr provides NO customer service via phone and thus far all I have received is automated responses via email. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone nor would I do any business with them again.

I sent my iPhone back well within the warranty period and they did not honor their promise. The phone was in pristine physical condition and developed an internal issue and they said it was damaged by us with zero explanation.

Rip off
November 5, 2020

I sent in an iPhone 7 in excellent condition, in the original packaging. They claim that it arrived with a cracked screen and offered me a much lower price than what they advertised. There is no way the screen could have been cracked while in the original packaging. If the package had been damaged in transit I doubt that they would have excepted it.

The Ultimate Con Job
November 3, 2020

I went through the Declutter website and input the info on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The website offered me about $140 for the phone. They received it and claim they will be putting the phone through a vigorous check up. Today I received notice saying that the phone has "issues" and the revised offer price is $12.00... you read that right $12!
That is INSANE. I declined the offer and they say they will be mailing the phone back. I could sell it on Ebay and make more than that. What a con job! Stay away from these people.

They offered me 130.00 for my Apple Watch. It was in mint condition. When they got it they said something was wrong with it and they couldn't buy it. They also never sent it back to me. Avoid at all costs.

False damage claim
October 23, 2020

I would never do business with this company again. I sent them a perfectly good iPhone SE. It had a screen protector with a couple of chips in just the protector it's self, not the actual screen. I told them that I have arthritis in my fingers and was not able to take the screen protector off but that the screen was fine. They just sent me some bogus email saying that there was a green tint all around 1 cm of the screen which never existed and I packed that meticulously. So instead of $40 they offered me $7.20. This company lies and are a bunch of crooks. I'll burn my stuff in a fire before I ever deal with this company again.

FRAUD!
October 1, 2020

FRAUD! This company offered me a buyback price of $25 on a used phone. I sent it to them and they reported back that it "failed" their inspection (for reasons that were FALSE - which they later recanted). They offered a revised buyback price of $2. I declined their revised offer and, per their guarantee, they sent me my phone back free of charge... however, THEY STOLE MY BATTERY! They kept my battery and claimed that they couldn't mail the battery back to me b/c of USPS laws! (WHAT?!?) Ironically (or not so ironically) when you go to their website and get an evaluation on that same phone without a battery... they only offer $2. THEY PLANNED TO STEAL MY BATTERY! What a fraudulous business! They trick customers into sending in phones, steal their batteries and then send back the phones without batteries!

This company said they would give me $102.00 for my Galaxy S8 so I charged the phone and sent it to them. I got an email saying the charging port was damaged and the would only give me $11.30. The charging port was not damaged and they did send the phone back and I was able to charge it--no problem. They also did not send back the charging cable and 2 charging adapters that I sent with the phone. The old saying "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is". I would never do business with a company like this.

Terrible service
September 17, 2020

I sent my DVD's and games in and never received payment, I have submitted all of my banking info and still have not received payment. They claim my account number was wrong and will not send the money until they get a bounce back from whatever account they originally sent payment to. We are going on 2 months now. I have requested them to send my products back. Waiting to hear.
