Couldn't Do Without Consumerslab
April 27, 2024

Consulting Consumerslab is my first task before I purchase any supplement, as there is no way to tell which is most potent, which are beneficial and which may be harmful without testing. The discussions, and reviews of recent studies are terrific. Honestly, I would be lost without my daily ConsumersLab email.

I've been using consumer lab for years now to help me navigate the choices I have to make about what supplements would be helpful to me, and which of the many offerings are the best and most affordable. Thank you for the work you do.

ConsumerLab has, over a period of more than 10 years, become my "GoTo" source for information on natural supplements abailable on today's market. From quality testing of specific supplements offered by numerous manufacturers, to up-to-date experimental testing results from all over the world. Testing using scientific methods of specific supplements, many resulting from statistically significant human group studies. Studies carried out to determine the effectiveness of specific supplements in addressing various human health issues. Also, ConsumerLab publishes information on alerts concerning poor quality supplementation products being uncovered by government watchdogs. All of this information helps me make better decisions as to which supplements to use and which to avoid. This information also helps me make decisions as to whether to try new supplementation, or to abandon a current part of my supplement regimen,

Consumerlab
January 26, 2009

Consumerlab - It is a very interesting site. My 1st question is... who funds them? There are alot of sites out there that report only the way the owners prefer for their benefit. I really liked how detailed the information, but can I trust it to be true?
The site it's self is easy on the eye & is easy to understand.

Hi Tracy - Our Product Reviews are funded by subscriptions from individuals (primarily consumers and health professionals), libraries, and colleges. We also operate the oldest, 3rd party quality certification program for dietary supplements in the U.S. In that program, any company can request, for a fee, that we test one of its products. Go-to for supplement info
March 31, 2020

Consumerlab.com is my go-to site for objective information about supplements and their usefulness or lack of usefulness, and for side effects and interactions. Kudos for a unique and comprehensive source of accurate information. The occasional updates that are pushed to my email are much appreciated, as they cause me to re-evaluate and update supplements for my own use.

I use your site a lot for information on supplements, etc.
Buying supplements and other health products can be so confusing. Thank you for your testing and reporting. I have learned so much! Unfortunately, you don't test some brands that i use. For example, Dr. Sears Omega 3 fish oil. Please test his products. Thank you.

Reliable source of accurate information
March 31, 2020

I have subscribed to Consumer Lab for about three years. I read the scientific information and recommendations posted on Consumer Lab for every supplement I consider. Unlike the hype and ratings you find in Amazon or other reviews, this site actually tests the supplements to ensure they have the amounts of active ingredients they claim and are not contaminated. They also provide scientific research to help you decide if a supplement is right for you. Finally, they tell you which provides most of the active ingredients for the lowest cost. A subscription is well worth the relatively small cost.

Thank-you ConsumerLabs.com
May 5, 2016

A message to ConsumerLabs.com just because I've used & felt for so long that they were a such a good organization, and I wanted to tell 'em so and thank them...

Dear ConsumerLab.

Of all of the many subscriptions I have had r/t health, yours has been one of the most valuable.

Thank-you for your work and for this service.

I don't know where else the public could go for true (independently research-based) information about what we are buying (especially supplements).

The public is just trying to be healthy and you protect us from gov (special interest influence) and industry compromise / ignorance.

Thank-you, Again!

Sincerely,
Chris, RN, BSN

ConsumerLab barely meets expectations
November 27, 2022

The product reviews get worse as you test obscure brands when most of us use the popular brands by known manufacturers. For instance, you have reviewed neither Nature's Bounty nor Puritan's Pride in over two years. What's the mattter? PP was sold evidently, but it remains a popular brand. Also Vitamin World. I buy a lot of Vitamin Shoppe's products, nary a review. Swanson? Same. Shiff, same. GNC, sometimes.

Long time user
March 31, 2020

I started using Consumer Lab shortly after its inception. I suspected there concerns about supplements that weren't being disclosed. Over the years I have modified my supplement use, changed sources and changed vendors based on Consumer Lab information. I am a member what the health industry defines as the oldest old and I'm forced to become aware my body reacts to certain supplements. Right now I'm not using any supplements and I feel better. If help in this arena, its inclusion will be appreciated. Also, reviews of oral hygiene products would be helpful. Since I have a sensitivity to fluorides, references to creditable studies relating to their efficacy would be nice.

Great website
September 11, 2017

I had been considering subscribing for about a year but couldn't make up my mind whether or not to spend the money. I finally did subscribe a few months ago. I believe it is a sound investment.

I often read about how this or that supplement will perform some sort of miracle for you. ConsumerLab is an impartial source to get the truth about supplements so you can avoid wasting money. If you decide a supplement might be helpful, ConsumerLab will let you know which brands contain the ingredients they're supposed to.

In addition, they are good about responding to questions. For example, I had a question about whether collagen supplements contained tyramine. I wrote to ConsumerLab to ask about that, and Jared replied the next day with a clear answer.

I highly recommend subscribing.

Testing
June 12, 2020

1. To fail a product because they don't meet their own high labelled standards, and to pass a product that meets their own poor labelled standards makes no sense. 2. You have lost your perspective. Harvard (https://ethics.harvard.edu/blog/new-prescription-drugs-major-health-risk-few-offsetting-advantages) indicates 128,000 people die of prescriptions drugs each year. In 2010, not one person died by taking a vitamin. To indicate vitamins have no value for certain problems because of a lack of RCT testing is missing the forest for the trees. Besides, we are coming to realize that medical testing is fraught with statistical problems (https://www.nature.com/articles/d*******0874-8). You need to reevaluate what constitutes valid research.

Excellent content, clumsy execution
June 21, 2023

Once I'm able to get to the article I'm interested in reading, all is good. Very informative, well- researched, and thorough. I also appreciate the continual updates in yellow highlights. Now here's what needs to be improved. When I receive an email highlighting an interesting article, I click on the link, read a brief summary and then to go to the full article I need to log in. However, after I log in, it doesn't take me back to the article and I have to search for it. It's a huge time waster.

I cancelled my subscription and requested a refund. After sending a number of emails without reply I wrote a negative review on sitejabber and was promptly contacted by consumer lab and offered a refund. I'm satisfied with the outcome.

ConsumberLab's encyclopedia.
August 20, 2020

I have been a member for several years and just now started using the ConsumerLab encyclopedia. I find it a good resource for information on medical conditions and ingredients that have been used to help this conditions without all the information about specific best brands. It is sometimes more helpful than a full review. I wish I knew about this resource earlier and suggest that ConsumerLab advertise it a bit more by specifying that this is ConsumerfLab specific encyclopedia or maybe call it something else.

My earthly bible
March 31, 2020

Nothing I enjoy more except reading about my yankees. You guys are the best. My wish is that medical terminology would be followed by a simple explanation so I wouldn't. Have to go to the dictionary and lose my train of thought. Am getting older and those memory pills as you have pointed out aren't cutting it.

March 31, 2020

I depend on Consumer Lab for reliable and accurate information for products related to the amount of listed active ingredients, contaminants, side effects, contraindications and summary of scientific studies for the efficacy for the claimed benefits. An immensely invaluable resource
April 3, 2023

I have subscribed to Consumer Lab for many years - so many I've lost count. And I'll keep my subscription going ad infinitum. I check Consumer Lab for information and reviews several times a week. I often make purchase decisions based on their recommendations. There are many occasions when I have stopped using a product based on information I learned from them. There is absolutely no better source for reviews and data on vitamins and supplements than Consumer Lab.
