I subscribed to a plan that would cost over $100 per month under false pretence promising me the help I was looking for. A few hours later I realized this service was in no way the help I was looking for. I called them right away to get my money back and they told me it would take up to 2 weeks. I called back after 2 weeks and they told me they are backlogged and that's why it's taking so long (not a good sign). It's been over 3 weeks and they keep telling me I will get my refund as soon as possible. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY!
I give constant contact one star because they treat their customers like criminals, puting them through questioning about where all of the emails come from and shutting down their customers accounts. I am sorry I signed up with them. It was a waste of my time. I have a small business and emails get the word out about what we have to offer. I have a different account with another company and they treat me better. I have plans to add a second account with a new company that has multiple servers which prevents account from being shut down.
We received a few voicemails from Mike, who says he works for Constant Contact and is selecting businesses to put their menus up on TripAdvisor, but he needs to conduct interviews. This immediately set off alarm bells - then a quick online search (including on this site) shows horrible sales manipulation tactics. I thought both TripAdvisor and Constant Contact were legitimate companies! So I asked Constant Contact, and it turns out it is their family company, Single Platform. Obviously any company that resorts to secretive and weird telemarketing is not the kind to do business with. I am so glad we use MailChimp for our email marketing! By the way, Mike's phone number is *******445.
Very inflexible and not reasonable when it comes to canceling the account. They charged us for months after we no longer were using their service and told us none of it was refundable. Not good for small businesses, and would not recommend! They also repeatedly paused our account for contact reviews which cost us time and money, even though all of our contacts were verified multiple times.
This product could NOT be any worse. It is completely counter-intuitive when it comes to designing emails. Have talked to them a few times about the problems in creating a new email, but got absolutely nowhere. Basically, their position is 'it is what is is, deal with it or leave.' Well, I'm leaving.
Be careful with this prank company. I started my free trial planning to test the platform and quit if I don't like it. But they charged me for monthly subscription 5 days before my trial expired. Because, how they explained, "it says like that in T&Cs" which are hidden somewhere on the site. I sent them email asking for the refund straight away but they never replied because (again their explanation) "they don't have the team who handle that kind of queries". But why the heck you have contact form on the website? I expected at least a reply. Today I finally called them because I couldn't find the option to cancel the contract (which really doesn't exist on the wrbsite so only way is to call them) and successfully managed to leave this so-called company. I am sure their main income is coming from the cheated customers because their customer support is horrible. Stay away from them and keep using the reliable email marketers. Who knows what kind of "hidden T&Cs" you haven't read
If you open a new account and upload emails you are going to have spam reports for the first few emails. Anyone who does marketing will tell you this, there are just people who don't remember signing up. You get TWO chances then they will lock your account and make you unsubscribe any emails older than 18 months. It doesn't matter that a pandemic happened in the middle and many businesses came to a standstill at that point and weren't collecting emails. Save your time and money, use a company like SendGrid that has reasonable rules. I just lost 3 hours of time, which is $$, building my campaigns, uploading lists, and dealing with their idiotic support team.
I used Constant Contact for 2 years. Then one of my X-employees logged into the account and changed the ownership to their name. Constant Contact refused to turn it back over even though I had the account for 2 years and was paying for it. They stole my whole contact list and gave it to a competitor. I called the legal department and they refused to even look into it. CAUTION you could loose your entire business and still pay them $60 a month to do it.
The recent move by ConstantContact to a new email editor has been a disaster. The new editor is far inferior to the previous one and customers have no choice. Read what users are saying on the CC community -- customers are leaving in droves.
Been a customer for years. Great for my monthly email program. My two biggest complaints are how they have changed the platform to limit not only the number of available layouts, but I can no longer edit the content through html. It looks like someone (a techy person) wanted to make it easier, but instead they made it more limited.
The second biggest complaint is how it doesn't automatically resize for mobile.
Fortunately, I use the same layout I have used for years, so I just keep copying it and then changing the content, so I still have the full html editing use and can change the stylescript as well.
For someone who has never used a program like this, the current layout and newsletter choices appear to be extra simple.
Is used by phishers to send fake "your account is being shut down" emails, using screenshots of actual emails with attached links, Constant Contact doesn't seem to have done much to curb this or acknowledged it at all, on account of blacklisting of them being as early as 2009.
I've also seen many examples of them having a misleading trial policy.
P.S. Said phishers use multiple emails so the included unsubscribe button on all Constant Contact emails doesn't actually do anything.
Customer service is a nightmare, I waited a month to hear back from billing, they charged me again in that time. After advising you must email to cancel they replied after a month and advised I must call to cancel. I'm very frustrated.
I signed up for the services. They really wanted my credit card information and signed me up for a monthly plan. They then cancelled my account in the evening on the same day I signed up- no explanation. I called the next morning and they told me it was because of compliance issues- that's it.
Spent the entire morning working on a newsletter for my workgroup. Went to lunch, came back to my desk and I had been logged out of my account due to inactivity. Not a problem. Just log back in, right? WRONG. They had CANCELED my account without ANY warning or ANY justification. I'm at work, at my desk, and they found a 'security loophole' that was a 'threat'. I've no idea what they are talking about and neither does my workplace. I was actually going to signup with them, until this incident. THe person on the phone said I had lost all my work and my account was erased. Just absolutely disgusted. Goodbye ConstantContact! I'm looking elsewhere for my newsletter needs.
I signed up for constant contact, I was not able to use it. I tried to cancel the month to month. Every time I tried to cancel. There is nothing you can do to select cancel. The platform is designed to call someone out in the universe to beg for mercy to cancel. I finally got the number from my credit card company, called, bypassed the robot, and set myself free.
My email (& an associate) were placed into their system by an unknown vendor. When i removed myself from one email chain a second from another advertiser popped up.
Not wanting to chase this down forever i called company directly to remove my email from theri system completely, along with any other email addresses for my staff. They said they could not do this, that i would have to provide them with contact information for each staff member to remove their emails individually. And when asked who put our names into the system so i could phone them directly to stop it, they told me they would not tell me who is addind my staff emails to the spam lists... so you wont tell me who from here you've added, wont tell us who is adding us, wont take us all out without a ton of work.
Some ethics.
Avoid unless you want to piss all your clients off.
Run. This company is all about the volume of customers and not their individual customer. If you value any part of your business, do NOT put your trust in Constant Contact. Find someone else, anyone else. If you are with them for years, they still treat you like a stranger. DO NOT TRUST THEM.
Will never use again and when I receive an email, will immediately unsubscribe.
In the beginning, you are old you have a "early success team." This is code for, "Tell them whatever you need to in order to stop them from canceling the subscription."
After 14 days have passed, and you're waiting for follow up to those sweet answers, you start receiving emails that what you were told is impossible.
Stay far away. They lie, they're aggressive, and they're compiling data on EVERYONE on YOUR list for THEIR use.
Constant contact started off ok, then out of no where they won't let me back in due to security issues. They never really explained the situation and was very vague. I signed uo through Ipage so I couldn't change my user name and password as they wanted me to. Ipage and Constant Contact teemed up, but when a problem came up, they blamed each other and neither one of them wanted to take responsibility for the situation. Ipage tried to help, Constant contact gave me the impression they didn't want to give me the time of day, very disappointed in technical support and customer service. Constant contact continued to take my money while keeping me out and of course no one wants to reimburse me...
Service is horrible. The Premium Plan comes with X2 "Onboarding Calls". Not sure where they get these REMOTE people that come up on the schedule but they are rarely present for the GOOGLE MEET meeting they set you up with and they claim to call you but don't. The sales people run you down to sale you then dissappear after you signup. They don't return calls! I believer the product is good but the service is HORRIBLE. I will be looking at other companies that do the same thing even if it's at a highrer price. I run a Financial Planning Practice and can't afford to kee wasting time with such poor and inept service and customer support
Answer: Because of their aggressive business practices. They lie, and they're compiling data on YOU and YOUR list to THEIR use. Go with MailChimp. More expensive but at least they don't lie and aren't aggressive.
