I have shopped with Christianbook several times in the past including one with a hiccup that was fixed. This past order through has made it my last. I ordered Bibles for my shop on Jan 14th this year. I had ordered gray linen cloth bound Bibles. A week or so later they arrived but were the wrong Bibles; hardcover, tan, and smooth. I contacted Customer service and they sent a refund label and a new shipment of Bibles. Again, they were the wrong ones. I called customer service this time to straighten things around and was told the right ones would be shipped right away and that the SKU labels were wrong in warehouse. A week later I got an email that they looked into the mixup and saw that the pictures on the listing were for the wrong cover of Bibles and said it was their mistake, but they would not be sending the Bibles that were pictured in the listing and told me if I wanted the correct ones I would need to pay more. I declined as I had already spent my budget for Bibles and could not spend more. I sent back the boxes of incorrect Bibles for a refund. A few weeks passed and I emailed as my tracking showed the Bibles had been returned and I still didn't have the return to my bank account. I was told if I provided tracking numbers they would refund the money right away without processing the books. I sent tracking numbers and was then told they could not process the return until the Bibles had been processed and that it could take 2+ weeks to even get to them. So here we are, nearly 2 months later and the return still has not hit my bank account. Normally I let these things slide because I know how hectic things can get but I was told one thing and then another and the issues with the Bibles wasn't even my fault.
Not sure how the hell this so-called "christian" company got my email, but the $#*!ters have been spamming my email like crazy. WTF?
I have bought numerous items from this site; 2 bibles in the past 2 years, and recently a larger order for gifts.
I believe they have good prices, it seems most of their items are at discounted prices.
For the bibles I purchased, I always add an imprint which makes it more personal.[this is why I ordered my bibles here -] I love that this website has such a large selection of items. It is good, but also time consuming to scroll through if you don't know what you're looking for.
I think the shipping costs are reasonable when ordering within a certain price point[ I live in Canada so there's the exchange rate to factor in with the total costs -- for someone in the USA or with a currency stronger than the US dollar, it is worth it no matter what]. I received my items within 5 business days when the site lets us know it would be between 2 to 6 days business days.
Within my most recent purchase of gifts; I ordered a few mugs. The pictures werent revealing enough for me to know exactly what I would be getting. For one of the mugs it was beautiful, but I didnt feel comfortable with the design and sayings on it. I called them [they even open really late -til 11pm eastern on a week day. Thats a blessing] to let them know that i'd like to return this item and purchase something else. I did not want to pay shipping to return it. As I spoke to the lady on the phone she was kind and told me I could receive a credit from the mug I purchased, on my new order and I wouldn't need to return the mug. This was really a blessing from God. I am glad I don't have to go through that ordeal. I ordered a book instead and a bookmark and will be awaiting these items.
I am a new to homeschooling and found this site to be great to look at the different curriculums available. It's website was user-friendly and easy to maneuver through. That's where it stops. Being new at homeschooling, it is difficult to sift through the many curriculums available and to find the proper fit for your child. Like many newbies, I continued what my child used in her private school. When I received the items, I called multiple times to question returns on the curriculum kits, since I already had the student workbooks. I returned several kits initially and was refunded for each individual item. Well, as you progress with homeschooling, you find what works and what doesn't. My child didn't care for traditional methods of schooling, therefore I called again and questioned the return of these items, only to receive reassurance. All of these items were returned within 30 days. Yet, the following 2 other returns on these kits were charged an additional restocking fee. When I squawked, I was told I was suppose to know from the first time that it was a courtesy refund and it wasn't allowed a consecutive time. How is a consumer suppose to know if not warned the first time to beware of buying kits! Especially when the 3 other customer reps that was spoken to, failed to mention that a restocking fee was going to occur. Whatever happened to the saying that the customer is always right? Especially with a CHRISTIAN bookstore? Now I know why the homeschooling books recommend Rainbow Resource Center and fail to mention Christianbook.com. Only if the owners know how their customer service dept conducts themselves!
Very happy with products, service and shipping. I will definitely order from them again :)
