I have used Chegg Book Rental on only 2 occasions (2x too many) with the same problem both times. Returned the books timely, received confirmation of receipts, then 1 month later they charge me to extend my book rental. Have to call them and have them correct their error. Do they do this to everyone? Who is to say. If you don't catch their "mistake" do they eventually credit your account for the book and keep your extended book rental money? I won't ever give them that opportunity again. I don't have the time for incompetent people!
They will constantly lock you out of your account for 48 hours while your account is "under investigation", preventing you from being able to view books or study solutions, on the pretense that you have been sharing your account with others. I have never done this, but they will lock you out of your account and steal your money, on top of preventing you from seeing the content that you paid good money for.
I used them my first semester - the prices were a bit higher than other sites but I had heard good things about them. I got my books pretty fast but 2 of the books I ordered were missing- it took a few days to get it resolved and eventually the books arrived but it was already 2 weeks into classes at that point.
If you use Chegg, no that they will report your use to the college/university if contacted. They will hand over your information to the college/university for violation of their honor code or academic dishonesty even though you paid for the service. They will hand you over and throw you under the bus. If you use their service, they will contribute to the detriment of your future.
I made myself an account with the idea that I would use this site to help with my classes. I first of all never used it for the 2 months that I kept this subscription going. Second after I cancelled it in May 2019, I still continued to get charged each month. I got locked out of my online banking (because I forgot my password) so I never noticed until just recently that I was still getting charged each month. I tried to cancel the subscription online but it wouldn't let me because it said it was cancelled already. Still doesn't explain why I was still getting charged each month. Anyways I called customer service but never got in contact with anyone. I was on hold for over a 30 minutes. Long story short this website is a waste of money and a scam.
Whichever questions I wanted help with, it did not have the answer to. Total waste of money, and they are answered by some random person who wrote inaccurate and incomplete answers on a piece of paper and uploaded it. Not clear, not accurate, this is even if you found the answer to what you are looking for.
Chegg is the worst don't waste your money. They are nothing but people running scams! Go to CourseHero they are way more efficient and they actually have good customer service! I will never give Chegg another dime of my money again! They accused me of suspicious activity and when i tried to speak to someone to tell them that its me they still locked my account and told me i had to wait. Then after 48 hours I received an email of them telling me that i can use my account but they will continue to monitor me. I am not a child I canceled that very same day. $#*! CHEGG!
Came here to buy textbooks and tutoring. I am never doing that again. Amazon has better deals on used textbooks and rentals. And their tutors aren't that informative either. My tutor literally just solved my problem for me and didn't explain anything.
Do you a favor, use chat GPT instead. This site do not have answer at all. They just want your money.I have to contact my bank to get my money back for the subscription that I used for a day, since they don't want to refund me
The experts are hired from India. They are hiring just about anybody, even those with no expertise and without a complete degree. Also the employees are NOT satisfied with the payment policy of CHegg India. They offer peanuts. Less than $1.5 a question.
The customer service sucks. I was told false information and when i asked to talk to the manager, he simply told me to stop using chegg? They call themselves 'experts' but 80% of the answers are incorrect.
I gave one star because I had to. Chegg is not an honest company. I rented two books and when it was time to return I called asking for a return label and was told one was coming to me. It never came so I kept paying for extensions. I am disabled and live on a fixed income. The person I spoke to said a label would arrive. Waiting for it to come again never happened. Today they tried to bill me to buy their books. I contacted PayPal that corrected the situation. Books still here waiting for the label. Students beware, Chegg is not the company to do business with. They already made over 161.00 and still no label.
It's the first time using chegg.com, but I rented a book and received it really fast. I also received a $30 dollar gift card to hello fresh and a $20 gift card to Shutterfly, as well as a red bull, a Swiffer duster, and tide pods with a coupon! They really know how hard it is to be a college student, thanks chegg!
I've sent numerous messages and called and left emails, nothing, I paid 30 dollars, sent 4 problems to a supposed tutor over a week ago, I've still heard nothing from tutor or chegg. I really needed help and they exploited that and ripped me off
I had cancelled my Chegg account over a year ago only to find out they kept on billing me and taking money out of my account. When I gave them my cancelled date and asked for a refund they told me to go F**k myself so I had to file a lawsuit to get back the funds they illegally stole from my account.
Takes more than two hours to reply or answer questions. Don't pay for this website!
They say they answer 20 questions per month but you won't have your answers most of the time. If they do give answers, They give wrong answers or ask for more information about the question while the question is completely clear.
I was a tutor at Chegg. It was good in the beginning, but one day when I logged in, it stated that your Account is not approved. And then they sent me an email and said that I have been completing student's work, which is not allowed. I am surprised for their reason, because this is what students come at Chegg. They want their assignments done. And I still dont understand that what I have done wrong?
I was a tutor with InstaEdu for years before Chegg bought them out. In August 2018, I wanted to add a new subject to my list. However, I was already maxed out at 40 subjects. I tried multiple methods to remove some subjects myself, before I finally decided to contact Chegg about the issue in September.
Now, 4 emails and 1 phone call later, they have done absolutely nothing to resolve the issue, instead responding to every single one of my correspondences with a slightly different paraphrasing of "We're sorry about the issue and your frustration. We have no timeline to fix it. Our team is aware. Let us know if you have any further questions."
To anyone thinking of tutoring online through Chegg, please reconsider and take your valuable brains elsewhere. To those considering receiving tutoring through Chegg, please be aware that the tutors are treated horrendously.
I decided to buy some of my books from chegg to get them a little cheaper, although some end up being more expensive so I just find those else where. When I received my first two books, the one box was already breaking and the book wasn't even that heavy. The boxes aren't of good quality at all and they expect you to return them in these if needed? Not to mention the books aren't protected in anyway. It's literally just the book alone in the crappy box. I'm also still waiting on like 6 other books I ordered a week ago. They've been "shipped" but there isnt even an estimated date of arrival. Needless to say, I will never be buying from chegg again.
P.S. Chegg always says you get a free gift but I've never gotten one. I think it's bs to get more attention and purchases
I ordered a textbook from Chegg and they sent me an empty package. Then, they sent me a textbook on CD which was not what I ordered. When I called to resolve the issues, they told me that I ordered the wrong thing and that they didn't make a mistake, which was not true. I asked for a refund and customer service said they'd send me a pre-paid shipping label. It was never sent. I followed up and received nothing but attitude from the customer service agent telling me I was outside the 21 day policy because of their mistake. He said I could still get a refund (thankfully!) but that I had to pay for shipping and tracking - ridiculous. He also said Chegg did not make a mistake (true, they made THREE). I am furious and will file this as fraud if I do not receive my refund back. Horrible, horrible customer service. I will NEVER buy another book from Chegg again. AVOID!
Answer: Half real half scam wil work for a day or 2 then lock you out
Answer: The monthly money is for an additional service. You can opt out of it at the time of your order. Supposedly. Check other reviews. Many of them say they were still charged after canceling the service. My best suggestion is to stay away from Chegg if at all possible.
Chegg has a rating of 1.2 stars from 457 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Chegg most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. Chegg ranks 108th among Textbooks sites.
