Check People Reviews Summary

CheckPeople.com presents a mixed reputation among its users. On the positive side, many customers appreciate the quality and accuracy of the background checks, citing detailed reports and useful information that can be difficult to find elsewhere. However, significant concerns arise regarding deceptive billing practices, with numerous complaints about unauthorized subscription charges and difficulties in canceling services. Customer service experiences are often criticized for being unresponsive or overly focused on upselling rather than addressing issues. Overall, while some users find value in the service, the prevalent negative feedback highlights a need for greater transparency and improved customer support.

This site purports to charge $4.99 for a single background check. In reality, they enter you into an automatically renewing $49.99 monthly subscription. There is no notice of this until a month later when the charge shows up on your card. The site makes no mention of the subscription and has no cancellation link. It is designed as a revenue miner to get people who don't monitor they're credit card charges in detail. I had the call and threaten criminal charges to get the subscription I supposedly entered into dropped. A very shady and underhanded operation.

Same experience as everyone else. They talk about a $4.99 charge up front. No where else does it talk about other charges. The funny thing is once i authorized the $4.99 charge at that exact same second i get an email for the $4.99 receipt and a fraud alert from my cc company for $7.00. After reading reviews it looks like this company will wait about a week and charge an additional $44.95. I just called my credit card company and and disputed the $7 charge and shut my credit card down. Now i am stuck waiting 10 days for my cc company to send me a new card.

Crooks!
April 28, 2019

I went on this site to check to see if a current business associate is a felon. I paid $4.99 on my CC for this and received whatever was available, whether it is legit, who knows, since obviously they fraudulently bill your CC for unauthorized charges!

The following day I was alerted by my CC for a possible fraudulent international charge. I spent almost an hour trying to reach their CSR department. After reading them the riot act, the girl actually had the audacity to ask me if she could offer me a discount off what they billed me fraudulently! WTH? How about you refund that $49.99 before I have you arrested on theft by taking charges? My credit card company was notified of what occurred, my account closed. If that charge isn't reversed within a couple of days, I will be filing fraud charges. I am so over the internet crooks!

False advertising of "free public information," at the end of sign up they ask for your credit card information to bill you for the FREE information. They showed that I was ONLY paying for $1 sign up fee. That the original price was $10 and it was 90% off today. I accepted the $1 fee ONLY. Then within less than an hour my BANK texts me and alerts me of FRAUD by checkpeople.com! They tried to transfer $7 out of my account WITHOUT my authorization or without making me aware of it! They did NOT explain why they were taking any amount of money that was not a part of my sign up fee from MY ACCOUNT! I've heard from BBB reviews that it gets WORSE through the month. They say that they try to prolong you account cancellation so that they can transfer nearly $50 out of your account EVERY MONTH for services you did not opt for! I made a detailed report to the BBB and am BLOCKING checkpeople.com for ANY further charges and repeated attempted charges.

Bullsh**
November 10, 2017

I'm pretty upset after agreeing to a 1$ fee for a 24 hour background check I was charged 44.95$ for the month. They do not let you know upfront, you have to read the terms and agreement, which I didnt and it's my fault for just giving out my debit card number like that. But it doesnt end there. A few days later I got a 21.95$ charge from experion which I have NEVER had any type of account with them. So now I'm a little over 60% in charges for crap. I never have gotten an unknown charge, so to coincidentally get a charge from experion right after the charge from checkpeople doesn't seem to coincidental to me. PLEASE cancel your account if you do the 1$ background check because theyll charge you a pretty hefty fee if you fail to do so. Dont give these motherfuc**** your money.
