I booked a flight with travel protection, and decided to add two more days to my trip. I was told it would be better to cancel and use trip credits. Well you can only book through customer service and on their screens the price for my trip was $600 more! So I asked to be booked at a different hotel within the price range I felt confortable with ($720_$750/ per person) only for the guy to book me 1 1/2 hours away from my original destination! So when I called back to change the hotel back to the area where we were flying to they decided to try to jack up the prices and are trying to charge me $900, for a hotel that costs the same price as my original hotel. One agent said $331, then the phone hung up, I called back and now this Jonathan guy is trying to charge me penalties and fees when the first said there was no cancelation fee. Now this guy wants to charge me $100 per person X4 for changesfor a total of $880 because they booked me 1 1/2 hours away from my destination! DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY, THIS IS HORRIBLE! I WILL NEVER BOOK WITH CHEAP CARRIBEAN AGAIN AND WILL MAKE SURE TO TELL EVERYONE I KNOW AND EVERY REVIEW STE HOW HORRIBLE THEY ARE!
Sorry for the late review. Unfortunately, I had 2 unexpected deaths and did not have the opportunity to do a review earlier. Luxury grand Bahia was the worst hotel ever. Safety and security should always be a primary concern for all travelers. However, during my stay at the Luxury hotel, I felt very unsafe.
My stay at this hotel was from 8/11-8/28. On 8/13 my first bad experience occurred when the door did not open, I called the front desk and security personally came and checked the door and assured me everything was okay.
On 8/14 while I was naked and laying in my bed, 2 girls walked into my room. This was a very traumatic experience that only increased my fears and anxiety about being alone. I called the front disk along with the manager and I was reassured that it would not happen again and they moved my room. However, I was very confused about how two women were able to enter my room! When you check in, you are supposed to be escorted to your room by a bellboy. After the room changed, my stay became even worse.
My key malfunctioned on numerous occasions which was a major inconvenience. About 4 more times after the malfunctioning, I was offered another room but at that point, I was over it and I declined. I just wanted a room with the property security system in place. The hotel does have phones in the hallways so u can contact the front desk for emergencies, but good luck waiting for someone to pick it up because you will be waiting until your check-out date. Due to the malfunction of the phones, I had to physically walk to the front desk numerous times to get a new key which is about 10 mins walk. Can you imagine going to dinner to have a few drinks, go to a show, go back to your room and then leave your room to walk an additional 10 mins to go to the lobby! I did have the pleasure of meeting with the manager, Mr. Bowen, 2 times and he reassured me that it won't happen again, which was not the case and the issue was never resolved. As a complimentary gift for my troubles, I was offered 1 spa service in exchange for signing a non-disclosure agreement! This was my first solo trip and because of Luxury Grand Bahia, I would never do that again. I'm writing this review to warn other single ladies who are traveling alone to take care when staying at this hotel. I also have an email from the Manager discussing my experience.
I asked cheap Caribbean to change my hotel to another hotel within the same price range or I would pay the difference during this stressful ordeal and was denied my request.

At 9pm on Friday July 29th my son was FORCIBLY REMOVED from his room at Breathless Punta Cana by security personnel. They asked him to leave the property immediately due to a supposed FRAUDULENT RESERVATION. My family reserved and PAID for 4 rooms in this resort, (the 7th time we have been at Breathless), months before our trip.
The night manager, Fabio, insisted that they had received an email from our travel agent, CheapCaribbean (also owned by AMR/Apple Leisure) that the reservation was fraudulent for 2 of our 4 rooms. We promptly showed them copies of reservations and payment receipts for all 4 rooms that were made months ahead of time. The night manager would not give us a copy of this supposed email from CheapCaribbean, claiming it was proprietary company information. So, we had to take his word for it. The fact that we showed him all the documentation didn't seem to matter. Either repay the entire amount of the rooms or leave the property immediately at 10pm in a foreign country with nowhere to go. We were extorted into paying the full amount or leave the property in the middle of the night.
CheapCaribbean was closed and we were not able to contact anyone from the agency. We begged Fabio to at least wait until morning so we could get this sorted out. NO, pay the entire amount or leave the property right now. With no other choice, we paid.
The next morning, we met with the resort sub-director, Rafael Almonte, who basically reiterated what the night manager had stated. Again, any request for proof or documentation was denied and we had to take his word for it. We asked to see the hotel manager, Javier Rufino, but were told he was out of town.
When we got back in the US, we called CheapCaribbean and they claimed they had no knowledge of any email sent for a fraudulent reservation.
