Why is it described as curated? The web site is full of fake and wrong description!
20% commission is insane, especially the poor customer service, the long delay for delivery (it can be more than 8 weeks!). No guarantee for the buyer nor the seller.
That website has been created by peoples who only want to make money and are totally disrespectful with their clients and customers... Sad
Chairish has a lot of variety in their listings and I'm sure the individual sellers are great. But the whole point of using their service is to arrange the logistics, and unfortunately they're terrible at that. The moving service damaged my stairwell when they delivered a dresser I purchased. By some miracle, the dresser wasn't damaged. I took photos immediately afterwards. After three emails and three phone calls, complete with the usual "let me transfer you" and then hanging up on me, I got an email a full month after my delivery saying they would not reimburse me at all for the "white glove delivery" fee. What an awful experience.
I purchased a wall mirror from one of their sellers for just under $1000. And it was never delivered because the seller gave a false tracking number (that corresponded to an unrelated item and delivery address). I will spare you the boring details but Chairish basically did nothing to help me. No offer for a refund. Stopped answering my emails. It's impossible to get anyone by phone. This is FRAUD.
It's a shame. Please be aware which sellers you purchase from on their platform as basically you are on your own- paying a broker (Chairish) that does nothing for you.
Do not buy from Maria R, Ontario, CA. She is a thief. She has owed me $1650. 00 for several months, promises to take care of it TOMORROW but never does. Her husband is in cahoots with her. Forewarned is forearmed.
Chairish is an absolutely terrible company. We've been attempting to sell through them for over two years and are finally giving up. Dealing with them is nothing but wasted time and energy, resulting in unnecessary business expenses. Buyers are far better off working directly with the person or entity in physical possession of the item for sale.
I had a horrible experience with Chairish where as part of their 48 hr guaranteed return policy, I refused delivery of chairs that were priced at $2700 (and I bought for $1700) that were supposed to have "original finish" and "minor imperfections." When we unwrapped one upon arrival the delivery person and I both were shocked at their obviously new, garrish finish (made to look original at a distance for photo purposes) and huge cracks down the middle of the seats.
When I wrote customer service they said the seller replied that I was told they were "rustic" and that's what "rustic" means, and that the cracks "add to their charm." I was told I should have "looked at the photos more carefully" rather than believing the long distance shots at face value and trusting the description.
It is worthy of note that I own these exact, rustic chairs in their original finish and with minor imperfections. I can assure you the chairs I received look nothing like them.
I was told they are keeping $1000 of my money for the round trip shipping cost. Proceed with caution. Just know you are not well protected from fraud when you buy from them.
UPDATE: After this review, I have been contacted and offered a full refund. I will update again when it has been received.
I have been with Chairish for many years. The wrong glass was sent to buyer and sent right glass at no charge. There are some glitches in program but love their customer service. Highly recommend.
Buyer has 48 hrs. After receiving item to complain about any problem. They are the few sites that actually answer their phone calls.
Go Chairish!
I recently moved into a new home and Chairish has been my go-to source for adding new items that are unique yet affordable. I've sourced numerous things from Chairish including larger pieces (media console, night stands) to smaller decorative objects. They have a great curated selection of all styles and all of my pieces have arrived in perfect condition.
Not sure what all the negative reviews regarding shipping are for but their 3rd party for shipping has always been super prompt, and very easy to work with.
The shipping can be expensive but you can usually bid a lower price that off sets any of the fees.
Can't believe how many incredible, unique finds on Chairish. Love that I don't need to dig around to find the gems. I had a great buying experience and shipping was super easy. Would recommend to anyone!
Bought several things from Chairish and always have had good experiences. Like that it's curated. Stuff is easy to find. Make An Offer is a great option. Any questions I've had, their customer service team has been quick to respond. Great experience.
Purchased a rug from Babylon Rugs on Chairish that came with a large stain on it. Chairish has no buyer protections. I buy a lot of things on other platforms and have never had any issues in these instances where the seller gave an inaccurate description until I got to Chairish. The customer service trying to get them to do anything about it (unsuccessfully) has also been terrible. Avoid this site, use any of the other platforms with better buyer protections or know you may be throwing your money away.
Chairish has many antique, vintage, one of a kind, and difficult to find items. There really are some great finds on this site, and the prices are fair. Unfortunately, their over-priced 'white glove shipping' makes it difficult to afford the furniture piece you love. You can make a lower offer on your purchase, but all offers are final. The big problem with this is that you don't find out exactly how much the shipping will be when/if the offer is accepted, and they charge your credit card immediately if it is. Considering that shipping costs can be as much as $1,000, this could lead to some heart-stopping shipper shock.
These people are so caring, they have great design sense and they want to make their customers happy! You'll find terrific looking things on their site. It makes me want to ditch all my current furniture and start over. I love their photos of pieces that work together.
I sold a piece of furniture on Chairish almost 3 weeks ago. They still have not lined up a shipper. I ask for updates and they just send Me a default email. Same one every time. That states they are working on finding someone to handle the shipment.
I recently almost bought a bamboo mirrored 8 panel screen on chairish. Blue Moon Antiques and Couture, the seller, blatantly lied about the condition saying it was "excellent" with "no loss of bamboo on any of the panels". Then I paid a shipper to pick them up after purchasing, but my shipper told me they were not in good condition with pieces of bamboo poorly glued on and chunks missing which seller deceptively did not disclose even when I specifically asked. Although chairish gave my money back, they refused to reimburse me for the shipping charge I had to pay to reject screens because of dishonest seller's condition report. Then they let the seller re-list so they could still make money off the sale although they did make her admit condition flaws. This was only 2 of the screens, and who knows what else was wrong with the rest. My shipper recommended after having seen just 2, that I should reject the panels.
I've watched this company evolve and grow, although I've only purchased a handful of items through the website. All were fulfilled professionally and I was very pleased. Lately, I've enjoyed using the feature of looking at items based nearby from local storefront sellers. I've found a few "favorite" stores I didn't know about that I now visit in person. It's a nice win-win-win all around for buyers and sellers. Bravo on the evolving business model!
I have gotten several responses from this company, all placing blame for damages on me. They think that you are blind and illiterate that you can't see the pictures or read the postings for the item when it was for sale. Now they suggest I sell it on their website to RIP off someone else to get a return of my money. Scammers!
Does not stand by their sales promise, items delivered late, damaged and will not take responsibility for damages or shipping. They offer to take item back but charge you the shipping which virtually gives you very little if your money back. Don't trust this company, I wish I hadn't. It cost me 1200. 00. Please consider another company before you choose this one. It is well worth your while to avoid this dishonest compant
Chairish is an auction house that allows a seller to set a reserve but allows the buyer to harass you for $5 bid increments that need to be attended to or the bid process shuts down. "hello? Chairish? Do you want my business of 20%? The Chairish items that are accepted can be capricious too, what? You don't take Vitra Museum miniatures of iconic designer chairs? Really? The shippers are hit and miss. I can do better hiring through Uship than they do, besides they make me liable for all the problems anyway.
I ordered two lamps from Chairish. They both arrived severely damaged beyond the minor scratches on the listing pictures. When I sent over 20 photos documenting the damage I waited three weeks to hear back and they claimed the lamps were as represented! Really? They were glued together with crazy glue! When I asked to return them they said I would be charged $90 in shipping! For two three pound lamps. Are we shipping to Russia? AWFUL. When I read the other reviews of this site, this seems to be common practice. NEVER AGAIN.
I sold a piece 5 1/2 weeks ago and still haven't been paid out.
This website is a joke and their "white glove" shipping is about the slowest process ever. I ship freight via uShip often and would never put up with this sort of thing.
Answer: Mary, because, simply put, it's a truly freaking awful place to be a seller. Yes, their commission is huge, but that's not even the beginning of the problem. It's also true that on the outside, it looks like a relatively professional, albeit middling enterprise and buyers trust it at first. I understand why you ask this question. But the people behind the scenes, every single one of them from VP's down, are disgustingly petty, cruel, dishonest, manipulative, cold, strange, socially inept, paranoid and just disrespectful people. They treat sellers like absolute garbage, suspect them of the worst, offer no freedom as to the listing, barely can get something listed in 2 or 3 weeks, then suddenly they all list at 2 am on a Sunday with messed up pictures. The more you sell, the more hateful they become toward you. Every time you ask for them to fix or help with something, they keep score. Every time a client has a question about their order or cancels or returns an order, they keep tabs as well. Use this information against you any chance they get. You willl never get paid. By never I mean in order to get paid, you will have to send multiple emails in the months after your sale in the hopes that someone might look up the tracking number you provided and mark the order as delivered. These emails will also count toward that tab. They will try anything not to pay you. They will lie and say a tracking number is fraudulent or that the package never sent... holding your money. They will say the customer hasn't confirmed delivery. They can barely answer simple support questions, nonetheless keep tabs of every order tracking, delivery and payment status. When I say it's a disaster, I am not exaggerating. They also scam the uship couriers and buyers out of any last penny they can. They will violate their own terms of service without a second thought. They will never hold themselves accountable for the mistakes that happen on their end. And if you speak out at all, you will be threatened and your account closed. It's a tragic, tragic place to do business and is tantamount to a scam operation.
Answer: I'm asking myself the same question, but not only do you provide your credit card information in advance, but they actually CHARGE your card for the offer amount BEFORE the seller even sees OR accepts the offer! If they don't accept it, then you have to wait 3-5 business days to receive a refund! Are you kidding me? They are making interest off of the week that YOUR money is in THEIR account! How can this be legal for you to pay for something that may not even be available for the price you have offered? And I'm being charged $19 to ship a small boudoir pillow PLUS a $5 SERVICE FEE which goes to Chairish for "administrative & credit card fees"? I am totally disgusted
Answer: All Chairish offers is a public comment space which the seller can ignore to its advantage (as happened to me). I posted comments that were ignored, too. I suspect that Chairish cares only about shipping, for which it charges an outrageous $299+
Chairish has a rating of 1.6 stars from 160 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Chairish ranks 652nd among Furniture sites.
