Buyer Beware
January 14, 2023

I purchased a 2012 BMW 750i xdrive from Carvana in April 2022.
The vehicle had less than 70,000 miles on it. At 70,528 miles I had to have it towed to the local BMW dealer where they found this vehicle had major problems that existed when the car was sold to me but did not show any signs at the time. I am looking at a $13,000.00 repair bill due to major engine, Driveshaft universal joint, Radiator Temp Sensor leakage and more. Link to estimate below

Bait and switch
January 14, 2023

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. I BOUGHT A TRUCK FROM THEM FOR MY BUSINESS, THEY ADVERTISED THE CAR AS FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. WHEN I GOT IT I REALIZED THEY LIED AND IT WAS 2 WHEEL DRIVE. AFTER PROMISING THEY WOULD SWITCH IT OUT THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS. GRETCHEN ACTED NICE LIKE SHE WAS GOING TO HELP ME AND THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED RETURNING OR ANSWERING ALL OF MY PHONE CALLS. I HAVE NOW HAD TO RESORT TO SUING CARVANA. THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST COMPANY IN AMERICA, AND IT SHOWS FROM THEIR STOCK EVALUATION. THIS COMPANY WILL BE BANKRUPT SHORTLY, PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER USE THEM.

Don't buy from Carvana!
January 11, 2023

I bought 2012 Audi Q5 with 90,000 miles for $21,000 and after just 9 months the timing chain broke and destroyed the engine. I just found out there was a class action lawsuit for the timing belt, but was told the warranty just expired. Carvana would not try and help me get another vehicle and just said to bad. When you buy a vehicle for $21,000 you think it's top condition. I rely on my vehicle to get to work. How do they think I can make payments and if I can't get to work. I can't even buy another vehicle because I still owe $18,000 on it. Carvana should be ashamed.

Great car but…….
January 7, 2023

I chose to take a chance on Carvana, because I really hate the car buying experience through a dealership. The haggling, back and forth, tug-of-war process at a dealership is exhausting and frustrating. The 2 great things about Carvana is one, the price you see is the price you pay plus registration. The second great thing is that Carvana has exceptional customer service over the phone. They really are helpful and seem to genuinely care about your experience. Now to the bad. There seems to be a lot of moving parts when it comes to buying a car 100% online. It took over one month for my car to be delivered to me when they usually advertise that it takes a couple of days from when you choose. My original delivery date was changed without any concrete explanation given. Had it not been for the fact that I really liked the car that I chose, I would have backed out right then and there. When the car did arrive, it had noticeable scratches that were not shown or disclosed in the photos that I chose from when I picked the car and it was another tug of war, trying to get Carvana's insurance company, SilveRock to fix and repair the scratches. The car also had mechanical issues related to its central computer. I was fortunate that the previous owner of the car purchased the car from an authorized dealer which extended its new car warranty. But again, I had to battle with silver rock in order to allow the dealer to diagnose the issue. With all of that said, my overall experience with buying the car from Carvana was a good one only because I really, really like my car. I would advise anyone in the used car market to only go with Carvana or any online car seller if you don't like buying a car from a dealer. If you can maneuver through the back-and-forth struggle with a dealership, then stick with buying your cars from a dealer. I definitely will consider Carvana when I have to buy another used car in the future.

Car gimmicks

We purchase two vehicles
GMC Arcadia and a Dodge journey

I'm guessing around coming up on 2 yrs since purchasing. GMC already had a brand new Transmission replacement. Carvana did right by replacing only because we fell in time frame of warranty. That was pretty good but, you still have to be aware that they're still a business. Now on the other hand with the Dodge Journey, I seen little patch up work here in there I see a new paint job was done with drips on it right now. I spent $1800 for them to replace the radiator two thermostats two times and the housing of the thermostat, I thought after the repair we was good but it still ended up overheating which was the cause in the first place right now I'm still waiting two weeks already had a GMC Dodge dealer my car still at after repair in spending 1800 call been in there for two weeks already and still they do not know the problem I thought a car van was a honest business but they proved me wrong. I'm still waiting on the diagnostics for my car and the outrageous price they're going to charge me for the repair it's a 2019 dodge journey just beware, the pick up and dropping off in the easy purchase is good but all that irrelevant if the car don't work and you're still paying thousands of dollars for almost a brand new car 3+ year old car we already spent over two grand on repairs and still waiting for the results of whatever else is wrong with the car right now Just beware buyers. … I would've added with physical visual proof, but the paperwork is with the car in the shop still…

As a cash buyer I thought it would be easy and convenient to purchase a Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude from Carvana. I couldn't have been more wrong. I selected a vehicle, paid cash for it, got it home and put the VIN into an app that tells you the facts about the car. I discovered that they misrepresented the vehicle on their website as "AWD" and in fact it was a "2 wheel drive". I called right away and that's when the run around began. They don't assign you a customer service rep, instead they make you call in each time and wait on hold and no one ever takes accountability to help you. Finally after a couple of days, I spoke with Josh. He seemed genuine in wanting to assist me and we talked for 15 minutes while waiting for a supervisor. He then says "hey, I'll call you right back as soon as I connect with my boss". I said OK and I never heard from him again. It took them less than 24 hours to take my cash from my account, however; they took 5 business days to put the money back.
I don't foresee this company being in business this time next year. I ended up going to Sands Kia and buying the Jeep Grand Cherokee I wanted with AWD for an excellent price. They made the experience great - it was fast and easy.

It's a no for me, dog.
January 4, 2023

Purchased a car. The delivery was delayed 3 times. A tree fell on the car about a month after I purchased it. They took about a month to come get it. Carvana did nothing to help. Still had tocontunue to make payments on a totaled car. Was told I'd be reimbursed, still haven't seen the money.

I recently lost my voice and it is recovering. I ordered a car from Carvana and they wanted me to give them a call. When I called, the lady asked for my social, my phone number, my address, and date of birth. I gave her all the information, then she refused to work with me just because she says my voice sounds like a women. I asked her what other verification does she need so I can show her that I'm the buyer. She says she can't disclose any information then puts me on hold multiple times for over 30 minutes. I told her my voice is recovering so I can't talk too long and asked if she could help me or not. She keeps putting me on hold saying let her check. I even gave her my driver license. I never seen a customer service discriminate over my voice and refuse to work with me.

BEWARE OF CARVANA CERTIFIED VEHICLE BS
December 30, 2022

Carvana is the utmost worst so-called dealership I have done business with. My vehicle was delivered to my home 3 weeks ago with faulty breaks and missing break parts. The mechanic diagnosed the issue, and carvana will not cover it, stating I have driven the vehicle over the coverage limit. They are some type of demons that would allow a vehicle to be delivered to someones home in that condition and not want to fix it. Please beware of the carvana certified BS. How can a car be carvana certified and make it out of the shop in this condition. Then, when I called customer service. The OFFICE LEADER blamed me. Stating it was my fault, I should have called sooner. Wow...such a leader! I hope they are paying her enough to sell that small soul she has. What a grinch! It was the Christmas Holiday and some of us were out of town spending time with family. Beware of Carvana if you do decide to do business with this Trash of a company. Make sure you take that vehicle to your local mechanic asap. You don't want to be blamed for them delivering a car to your doorstep that could potentially kill you. Signed pissed as hell because I have to pay for someone else's screw up. I wish I could upload this report and pricing for a repair on a vehicle I only drive to work and has been in my possession for only 3 weeks. Ugh... so disappointing that theses big companies are allowed to treat people this way.

Stay far away!
December 22, 2022

Went through the process to trade my car in, picked a car, signed my contracts, and had a delivery date scheduled. 24 hours before delivery, they sent me an email that said, "sorry, we can't sell you this car. We'll call you in 24 hours to explain why."

I called them immediately, and got my call escalated to a rep. He told me that they didn't have the car. Wait… the pictures show Carvana plates on the car, and there was a so called 150 point inspection. How do you do that without having the car?

I'm staying very far away from this business. My BS meter is pinging like mad. I had switched my car after this, but I cancelled that too and just went to a dealership. 12 hours later, I had a charger hellcat and Carvana is disappearing very quickly in the rear view mirror.

Bought a 2016 Jaguar XJ - a car I had been wanting for years. Finally was able to get a used one with 55k miles. Little did I know that what I was buying from Carvana was a piece of junk. Came with bad brakes and out of balance wheels- this was fixed through the warranty. Then after ninety days, yes days, things really started going downhill. Transmission locked up a couple times, a part of the seat back started coming loose, and then the big problem at day 98. The car had a coolant leak which caused the engine to overheat and blow out. 15k at least to fix but because I couldn't get it to someone who could fix it till day 105 nothing was covered. I feel robbed and cheated and i am getting stonewalled by both Carvana and Silver Rock. Carvana doesn't care about their customers or stand behind their product. Run away!

Updated review
December 22, 2022

I know people mostly write reviews when things go wrong, but I will write my positive review. From start to finish, this has been by far the best car buying experience I have ever had. Purchasing my vehicle was super easy and fast. Bought it on a Monday and it was scheduled to be delivered that same week on Friday. The delivery was great-on time, and the driver was wonderful and professional. The car only had one very minor issue that really wasn't an issue-a hubcap was missing. The associate-Matthew-was amazing and bought a set before delivering my car. My car is fantastic, I love it! I did have it looked at, and it was given a great report. My registration tags and license plate arrived today, in just over 30 days. I know that there can be issues with any used car purchase, but I am very pleased with my overall experience.

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT
December 20, 2022

Total DISAPPOINTMENT! Just bought a new used car from Carvana (2020 Mercedes GLA 250,6347 miles) picked up the car yesterday, and upon trying to start car, push to start button won't work. The Carvana attendant was like "that's not an issue, just take it to the manufacturer, it'll be an easy fix" so went ahead and used key phob to start car, drove home that night and both key phobs stopped working, cannot lock car. Tried using the keyless lock to lock car from driver side door, but still car refused to lock even though car was turned off and on park. I'm having to go to bed with my car doors open cause apparently it's a piece of Junk! To think I paid over 36,000 for this, I was so excited when I got it, the color was exactly what I wanted, but now I'm just so furious and can't wait till morning to return it! The car makes weird noises when I drive and wobbles like it's going to crumble

Payments for a car that I can't drive
December 16, 2022

I purchased a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze in February of 2022. Had no issues and trusted Carvana to provide me with a great car that would last me a couple of years. I was wrong, recently I had to pay for new brakes, rotors, as well as an oil change. Which is fine that's typical maintenance for a vehicle. I was told by my mechanic that the car had patch work done in order for the vehicle to sell as well as bad wear and tear, and oil had been leaking in the engine previously before I purchased it. A week later the head gasket blows, I was informed by the mechanic to call Carvana. I call carvana and I am placed with an advocate and I inform him of my issues. He informs me that I am out of the 100 day warranty however if I'm able to provide documentation from a mechanic I could submit the documents via a link provided. I spent the past two days gathering the information just to informed by Carvana that they provided false information. As customer I am upset because I am now stuck with a car I can no longer drive and a car payment. Now my car will be repoed and this will end up on my credit. All because an advocate provided false information and made it seem like this situation would be fixed. Now that I have the documentation I'm being told nothing can be done for my situation.Due to the fact that I purchased the car in February mine you I've only had the car for 8 months. Had two different mechanics do diagnostics and both are stating that my gasket should not be blown and the damage was already done prior to me purchasing the vehicle. Now I'm stuck with a payment and am being told that I'm better off getting another car than getting this fixed. I owe close to 14,000 for a car that is not working and will cost even more to get fixed when the issue can happen again. I am at a loss for words by the way I have been treated by several so called advocates. Regardless I was provided the wrong information and the situation has yet to be fixed. I am being blamed by advocates when I have proof/documentation from a certified mechanic at precision tune stating the issues wrong with my car were prior to my purchase. It's no reason I should need a new engine within 8 months unless there wasn't already preexisting issues. Advocates were very rude and condescending regarding my issue, it was made like it's my fault. I have documents as well as proof of call where I was told to get information from a mechanic to send to Carvana. Now I'm getting the run around and nothing can be done. Yes I know of the warranty and 7 day guarantee but I was told by an advocate to submit documentation to prove the issues are preexisting which I've done. Yet nothing is being done to fix the situation. I recommend doing research on Carvana before buying a car, wish I would have looked more into the reviews prior to this.

I found just the car I was looking for on Carvana. I have used Carmax for the past several purchases and assumed this was similar - I was wrong. It was difficult to get a real person to help when I had questions. Each time I talked to a real person, I was given conflicting information from the previous person I had spoken with. Some of the issues:
1)I was first told I could use the sale of my car I was replacing to offset the sales tax on my purchase- I needed only to upload an official state Bill of Sale. Then days later I was told that was not possible and needed to be handled by the DOV. Fine, but give me the correct answer in the first place.
2) Carvana moved my delivery date three times. The last time I literally was on the phone with a customer advocate that assured me everything was in order and my car would be delivered in the next two days as stated. Less than an hour later I received an auto-generated email that my delivery date was moved to the following week. LESS THAN AN HOUR from being told differently. I had sold my car and was without for this period of time.
3) When I received the car there was no front license plate bracket. I live in Missouri and the car was delivered to Missouri and tagged in Missouri. Missouri REQUIRES a front tag. I was told first that they would pay for one, but the next guy that walked in the door said all they would do is drill two holes in the bumper and I would have to take care of that.
4) My vehicle arrived missing a rubber hood stop which was clearly visible in all of the pictures of the vehicle. Too bad. They don't cover or replace that. It was in the pictures and NOT on the vehicle.
5) They really want you to finance with them. I have excellent credit. They offered a rate of almost 11%! I financed at my bank for just over half that. They offered me 1/3 of the trade in value on the car I was getting rid of.
In conclusion - no - I would not recommend Carvana. Carmax was much easier to work with. While I'm glad I found the car I wanted, I will not use Carvana again and will not recommend them to anyone else.

In the year and a half since purchasing my Audi, I've had to put $7400 of repairs into it and it is currently at the dealership once again, for about $7,000 worth of more repairs. Bad motor mounts, torn bushings, oil and coolant leaks, clogged fuel injectors, the list goes on. The "84 whatever point inspection check" that they advertise must be a joke. Within 30 days of purchasing the vehicle, almost everything that isn't covered under warranty needed replaced (battery, brakes, tires, etc). I do not recommend Carvana to anyone. I'm fairly certain they buy auction vehicles and immediately resell them regardless of condition.

Carvana sold me a vehicle that had front bumper damage. They were not transparent. My new finance company, Upstart, paid Carvana $22,000 for a 2017 Honda Civic EX with 43,200 miles. Carvana's lack of transparency infuriates me. When I went to the Honda dealership today to sell my vehicle, the salesperson told me that damages were on the CarFax. However, prior to my purchase of the vehicle from Carvana. I ran a VIN check, and there were no damages indicated. Carvana was deceitful in their conduct by failing to notify me of the damages. I'm seeking monetary compensation. PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. YOU WILL HAVE BUYER'S REMORSE.

Bad engine.
December 10, 2022

I bought a 2015 GMC Terrain it was supposed to be certified inspected and before I even made my first payment my GMC was running poorly. I put 9,000 down and the complete total was slightly over 20,000. It started making a loud sound and turned out my used/new vehicle was bone dry of oil. Oil in the tailpipe and oil stains under the hood. That's not something you think to worry about after dropping 9,000 down on a certified inspected vehicle. Sure my warranty covered it but who wants to deal with all the other butterfly affect problems from that bad engine? I requested my money back or a vehicle that's actually worth 20,000 and because it was after their 7 day test drive window they said no and I didn't even have it 4 weeks yet at that point. Don't trust Carvana.

Just bought my car two weeks ago, engine light came on day nine, on a newer jeep wrangler. Took it in under its warranty, haven't had the car for two weeks now. Major repairs are needed, and the mechanic said they couldn't believe they sold me the car in the condition that it is in. I am planning on suing. I've had to pay out of pocket for Ubers and bus rides, which takes me three transfers to get to work. When I called to ask about a deferment on the first payment, since I haven't even been able to drive it, they simply told me "no". And then, if I didn't pay, they would come and take the vehicle. Intake manifold gasket, plenum gasket, and oil pressure switch need repaired. What's worse, is that the warranty department haggles with the mechanics, trying to get them to buy the cheapest parts that would wear out within a year or so. Just found out they are also going bankrupt. I understand why now. Horrible experience!
