They only care about the money, not about the experience or the client.
I had to cancel my order for a mistake I did along the reservation, they didnt wanna cancel it with full refund. They've charged me 55$ cancellation fee for an 100$ order.
Even supervisor was unhelpful.
Will never book with them again.
I booked a rental car in Malta for 34 USD and they never forward the email to the rental car company. I wait so long for them to pick me up and I ended up paying 50 Euro instead 34 USD. For the price I rather rent from other company that have an office just outside the arrival. Never gonna book from this website again.
This place will definitely take your money and run. They assure you they've given you the full price with all fees included. Wrong! We've had several times where the rental car company tells us at pick-up that if we don't pay more money they won't give us a car. Oh, and then there are the companies that tell us they don't have a car for us even when we confirmed it on this site weeks beforehand. This company passes the buck to the car rental company, and they pass it back to carrentals.com, and you, the consumer, are the big loser.
U-Save worst rental car company ever! F*** thieves! Don't use their car! They just keep trying to charge you! Please don't use that company! Companies like those shouldn't exist!
U-Save es la peor compañía de renta de carros en la historia! Son unos jodidos (para no usar otra palabra!) Ladrones! Solo tratan de cobrarles más y más! No usen esta compañía! Este tipo de compañía no deberían existir!
I just had such a bad experience with CarRentals.com that it has to be shared. I recently booked through CarRentals.com and was told at pickup that my car would cost $161 more than promised at booking. Then at checkout I was charged a full $362 over the booked fee with the overage NOT related to fuel or insurance charges but to various other fees and charges unrelated to my use or care of the car. Customer service has been dismissive and useless, replied to me once without looking over the confirmation and receipt I sent them then ignored my emails. This company's promises are worth nothing and they're not accountable. Do not trust them! I'd have had a much cheaper rental doing it directly, and known ahead what it would cost.
They forced me to pay for my rental ahead of time. They supposedly have a link about their terms, but I reached this site by already accepting terms from Kayak. Their terms are hidden, but it doesn't matter because they don't stand behind them. Customer service is pleasant but determined to do nothing. NOT PCI COMPLIANT, do not trust your credit card with them.
They withdrew $254 from my account after they knew I didn't get the vehicle.
I booked through Rentalcars.com and Sixt for a weekend rental but was denied due to my ID not matching. I just moved, and showed the clerk my proof of address and he texted his manager and she denied me due to someone who recently stole a car but completely unrelated to me. I don't care about being denied, but they still charged me $254.00 for a car I never received. Neither company is helpful and Rentalcars.com was extremely rude to me and refused to release my funds. I asked for district manager numbers, supervisor numbers or email addresses but Benjamin in Mexico city refused to release it. I am absolutely livid and I feel taken advantage of. I work hard for my money to give them my business and they rip me off. The website states that I can be refunded so I appealed and Benjamin and his supervisor Ivan refused to release the information and funds. Sixt was not helpful with releasing my money but a representative stated that they should because their records clearly indicate that I never received the vehicle. Benjamin stated in a conversation that he couldn't release anything but offered later to release 27 dollars for insurance. The insurance is what allows me to be refunded because of situations like this. My email stated that it can't be refunded AFTER booking. If I saw something like this then they wouldn't get my business. Online stated that I could be refunded if I appeal. Very unprofessional business. Their stealing money from people.
An online reservation for a premium/luxury car was made at Enterprise through CarRental.com. Before the date of pickup and payment, a pop up appeared on the rental confirmation page showing an 80 dollar discount to "purchase your rental car now". I went through the steps to purchase and finalized the transaction. An email confirmation followed now with a different off airport company I had never heard of. And the premium/luxury car was now a down market Hyundai Elantra or comparable. Fifteen minutes later CarRental.com refused to refund the transaction or help in any way. Im now trying to stop the charge through the credit card.
Price was originally $1200. The car we rented and the one advertised was not big enough for our party even though their website claimed it was. Final rental price was $4400. They refused to make up for their false advertising. Joke of a company. Rent from the actual companies not this third party joke of a company.
My husband booked a car for 2 weeks through their website and paid the money by credit card, unfortunately he got an emergency & had to leave after 1 week, they charged the full amount of money, refused to return any money back
Made reservation for two passenger van specifically Opel Vivaro since there were 14 of us and lots of luggages. Avis declined my hard copy of the reservation which clearly had the pic of Opel Vivaro and explained in two areas of the reservation "Opel Vivaro or similar" and offered us Opel Zefir which was much smaller 7 passenger suv. Since we could not fit in them with our luggages we insisted on Open Vivaro but they declined and said we need to contact carrental.com with our issue. Finally we were forced to pay additional 150 Euro per day to upgrade one of the cars to what it was supposed to be. Send email to carrental.com and they claim the reservation was for Smaller Opel Zefir and when I sent them the hard copy proof of my reservation for bigger Opel Vivaro there were no response. DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE IN YOUR RESERVATION WITH CARRENTAL.COM OR YOU WILL PAY DEARLY AND CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. They are scammers who will tell you anything you like to hear but after the sale there is not even a phone number you can call them. I have attached copies of the printed reservations.
Read all the bad reviews, they're true. What looks like a good deal is NOT worth the little bit of money you MIGHT save. Book direct!
Terrible customer service. Reserved and then cancelled a rental within an hour online. They get their $55 cancellation fee--fair enough, that was part of the deal. But while they were quick to charge my credit card for the reservation, they do not care about refunding my money (minus their $55 cancellation fee) for the cancelled reservation. Have called multiple times, spoken to the manager several times, and each time it's the same story: it'll be 7-10 business days. First, it was some "processing error" on their end that prompted a new round of 7-10 business days... then it was that they processed their $55 cancellation fee and that prompted another 7-10 day wait. It's been almost a month and nothing. Just left a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
They are misleading with their user experience and if you are not careful you buy insurance you didn't know you were buying. They also advertise free cancellation and this is NOT true at all. Lots of terms and conditions. Do NOT use this company as their are way better options out there. Basic internet scammers.
I used carrentals, the delta to the price from the car company was under 10%, but decided to try it. Rental was with Eurocar.
When I came to collect the car I was told by Eurocar that I needed insurance (not listed by carrentals), it was in Europe and this was to be 2x the price of the rental. Told the company I was covered by my car insurance company, this wouldn't work, and had to demonstrate (had to get them talking to amex) that my CC would cover any excess. Seems like I would not have had to make these extra steps if I ordered directly from the car site. The 10% was not worth it and it took *******@1hr to resolve this. No heads up from carrentals - very frustrating and a bigger issue than any I've had with other sites.
We purchased insurance at the time of our booking, but when we went to pick up the car we were told that EuropCar would not accept the insurance we purchased through CarRentals.com (Allianz). I spoke with the insurance customer support and was told they could do nothing to help resolve the situation other than give us a refund.
The whole thing was very expensive, doubling the cost. CarRentals should not sell us a product, that cannot be used and assure us everything will be fine. The car rental company representative regarded it as a type for scam. I agree.
Asked to pay extra to guarantee a Volvo XC40 at booking
Got a old damaged smelly high mileage Nissan on arrival
On return from holiday told not this was to guarantee a similar car; how this can be called similar with 30 years in the motor industry this is all a con
Paid over £300 for a weeks car hire could have got cheaper if had wanted a Nissan
You have been warned
STAY AWAY. Carrentals.com provided a misleading confirmation which caused my family and I to NOT be able to pick up my reserved vehicle. Subsequently, I had to rent a vehicle from another vendor in order to get my family to it's final destination. They won't take ANY blame, won't let me speak to a supervisor, and won't issue even a partial refund.
This place is a joke. Rented a car in Orlando. Took 1 1/2 hours for shuttle to pick you up at the airport. Advertised 10 min. When we got there people were sitting on the floor waiting. You had to sign in. People had been waiting for over an hour for cars they had reserved. We left and went back to the airport and rented from another company. We would've wasted half a day from our vacation waiting. This is an Expedia company. Never again. If it sounds too good to be true... beware.
This website rip me off for a couple time.
First time I rent a van for $302 on April 18 to April 21 total cost. By last minute at midnight to get the car with Econome rental. They did not accepted insurance by my insurance or insurance I bought online, they made me to buy their insurance for $60/day. They made me to pay new rate of the rent of $150/day and many other fee. At night and trip was booked, I do not have another option. I took the car and final rental for 3 days was $879. What is the rip off?
Second time for now I booked form May 14 for July 21 to July 30. Their cookies ads kelp change the date of my booking why i did not realized until three hours after. I could not cancel it because I did pay them the cost. I contacted them 20 times to solve the problems, the never give me money back. What is the second rip off?
Say away from this company!
Answer: Carrentals.com is a scam outfit. Never pay in advance. Read the fine print. I have been traveling and renting cars for 40 years and have never dealt with a more unprofessional or dishonest travel company.
Answer: Back in the days they were my favorite website, they were the best, I didn't use anything else. But not anymore, they just joined the scammers and become of of them.
Answer: Stupidity, because everything is so darn expensive in 2022 that it pushes unsuspecting victims over to the "promises promises" platforms, like CarRentals.com.
