My girlfriend flys to pick up daughter and granddaughter. Supplier refused to release vehicle and both refuse to refund the deposit they took day of booking. Do not trust this company or any of their suppliers. Would have been less stress to purchase a beater and drive to Charlotte NC and back.

No customer service whatsoever. Do not use I'm warning you. And the insurance they charge does not cover you and you will need to buy more insurance from the car rental company. This place is a total scam and you be better off renting straight from the rental place you are going. It will be cheaper.

I wished I've read the reviews before I've rent the car from this company. Same experience as most of other clients here. I was lurked into paying up front and was charge $1600 -had no problem with that-but needed to cancel the reservation over a month before my trip. NO REFUND!
NEVER RENT THE CAR FROM CARRENTALS!

No refund

I wasn't able to travel to Texas on May 5th due to a COVID 19 diagnosis and other family matters. My mother passed away on April 7th, 2021 and I changed my travel dates so I could be there for her memorial on May 15th. I requested that this company change my rental dates to May 13th through May 14th but they didn't respond. I wasn't in Texas on May 5th, I was still in Montana. They wanted proof of my COVID test which I provided. They won't approve my request unless there is a date on my test results. I was screwed out of $240.00 by this company. I don't have this kind of money to waste and they took advantage of my situation. I may contact an attorney about this.

I went to Carrentals.com website as it is the only way to communicate with them to ask for a 1 day extension. They told me they cannot extend a current prepaid agreement and said I had to make a new reservation and would have to bring my car back and rent another car for the additional day. They were not willing or able to help!
Do not use this service!

Insurance scam

Rented a car in Cancun from carrentals.com for more than other websites because they specified that MEX liability insurance was included in the price. However, they do not include anything to this nature in the reservation, and after booking it was hard to find anything to this effect. The car rental company (Mex, in Cancun, also 1 star) did not accept their insurance coverage since I did not have a letter specifically stating we had 3rd party liability coverage for a minimum of 125k. Carrentals.com should not falsely advertise that this insurance is included, especially since they should know which companies do or do not accept this.

Furthermore, while I was at the car agency, I was chatting with a carrentals.com agent to try to get a letter, and they were unwilling to email me anything in writing stating specifically what I needed (and they admitted that not all companies accept their insurance).

Lastly, I booked the reservation, but named my husband as the driver. This was an option on carrentals.com. However, this did not transfer over to the car rental agency, and the agency charged us to make my husband the driver since the reservation was under my name (even though I made him the driver in the reservation).

These two items combined more than doubled the cost of our car rental. Would not recommend carrentals.com.

If you make a reservation with this company, ensure there are no issues at all with what you need. If you need to contact them for customer service, you will not be able to get through. I recommend using your phone and the chat, as it will be available on mobile but not desktop.
They will tell you they have done one thing but not actually send any confirmation, then when you push for the confirmation they say that it did not actually occur and nothing can be changed.
I did not ask for a refund. They said they would cancel my request and refund me and i specifically told them not to cancel. They said they had refunded and i had to call the rental to make sure they did not cancel. I then followed up on the refund and they told me i won't recieve it since i did take the rental, when i told them i was going to and they still said they were going to issue the refund.

I had a pre-paid reservation for a minivan through carrentals.com. A last minute meeting came up that I couldn't get out of and they wouldn't let me switch the reservation to my wife's name. They wouldn't let me cancel. Nothing. My wife needed the minivan to pick up my disabled parent and drive them to a doctor's appointment but thanks carrentals, we had to find another method of getting them to the doctor's office.

Do not rent from them

Charge credit cards upfront for the full price of the rental and when services are not rendered, refuse to refund money. This is an online scam company. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that the young man was located out of the country and a manager was unavailable. This is an unacceptable practice.

Non-refundable

I used Kayak.com, which referred me to CarRentals.com to reserve a rental for a business trip. The dates were changed by the website to a week later than I originally requested. I reserved the car, but noticed the dates were wrong immediately when I viewed the confirmation email. I contacted CarRentals.com within 15 minutes of reserving the car. Two days later, I received an email from Rebecca stating that there were no refunds for pay now, and I should have seen the notice. It's not obvious on the landing page. I would suggest never using Kayak.com nor CarRentals.com. Ever. Dirty, underhanded deception.

I wish zero stars was a possibility!

I booked a car rental in Hawaii for a trip. The site advertised free cancellations in multiple places, so I booked a car. A couple weeks before the trip, my 16 year old had a mental health crisis and spent a week in the regular hospital followed by a week in a mental health hospital. My husband and I, clearly could not leave our son and take a trip in his fragile condition. So I tried to cancel the reservation. They said no is was non refundable even though the website advertised free cancelations in multiple places. Apparently, there are 2 types of reservations and in microscopic writing they state that the good rates are non refundable.
I sent them a copy of my sons hospital release papers and asked for a refund. They said no because it was not the date of the original rental period. We went back and forth a few times. I had to get a letter from the psychiatrist stating that my husband could not leave the state on the dates of the rental agreement. I am still waiting on a refund! I will never use an expedia company again. They have been so unreasonable and just cruel about this situation. Hello! Life is messy sometimes... for everyone! I did not plan this! So carrental.com has my $450 for a week car rental in in Hawaii that I never used. I will never ever use an expeidia company for anything again! The website was misleading and the company policy on extenuating circumstances for cancellations is egregious. Buyer be ware!

Please read all reviews of this company's shady business practices. I did not and got burned, had to learn the hard way. I booked a Priceless rental car through carrentals.com for my wife traveling by herself to FT Lauderdale. She was delayed a bit picking up the car due to a luggage issue at the airport. She called me to tell me that the Priceless car facility was closed (someone at the car facility had told her so). I told her that can't be true at 6pm on a Thursday night. I proceeded to call Priceless and they told me that they were open but her reservation was closed because she was not there to pick up her car at the pick-up time I had reserved (5 pm). They gave her a ONE hour grace period before they gave her car to someone else. She was stranded with 2 kids and no cars to rent, 1500 miles from home. Priceless was no help. I went back and read all the fine print from the carrentals.com reservation and confirmation. NO WHERE did they state there was a ONE hour grace period to pick up the car and if you missed your pick up time, they would give your car to someone else. Apparently there is ALOT of information that carrentals.com fail to disclose after reading other reviews, after the fact. DO NOT use this THIRD party service to rent a car, no matter how appealing the rate is. You have been warned!

THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY

Terrible unethical company. They will offer good rates if you prepay- don't do it! Be aware that they will keep your money even if your travel plans change and you never even pick up the car at all.

Totally crooked

I wanted to rent a car for 3 weeks from February 23 through March 16. My travel plans got delayed by one day, so I needed to pick up the car this upcoming 24th instead of the 23rd. CarRentals.com said my choices were to pick up the car on the 23rd or cancel the reservation and book a new reservation for nearly 2x the price. Nobody is giving me a straight answer why I can't just modify the upcoming reservation by one day. Totally inflexible. I asked them what would happen if a customer needed a one day delay due to a terrorist attack or a natural disaster. They said there was no exception to their policies. No modifications allowed. I offered to pay for the rental in advance. They said it was too late, since I had to do that when I first booked it. I have never experienced a rental car company so hostile to their own customers.

Worst company EVER

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. They actually stole my money. I booked with Dollar and had to cancel reservation and even though Dollar canceled with NO PROBLEMS what so ever, Carrentals.com kept my money and refused to return it for absolutely no reason. The manager I spoke to made no sense whatsoever. It sounded like he was reading off a script the entire time. DON'T BOOK HERE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

SCAM/Bait and Switch

I reserved a Payless Car Rentals car in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico using Carrentals.com. When I got to the airport, the Payless shuttle pickup never arrived. On line chat at carrentals.com said they would call Payless. Allegedly they did so but there was no answer. I called Payless at the San Jose airport and they said that they had no confirmation number or reservation under my name and worse, they had no cars to rent. A Firefly rep overheard all this and offered to rent me a car for 4X what the "quoted" rate was with carrentals. When I got to the car pick up location, it was Hertz and I ended up with an even higher rate than the Firefly rate the girl quoted, allegedly because they didn't have any cars of the class she quoted. Clearly, carrentals.com is a sca. DO NOT USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE.

CarRentals.com WAS one of the best sites before but that's not the case anymore. Their choices went to support very bad sites, such as the biggest scam of all u-save. I stopped using them awhile ago after their customer service was like "well, we can't help you with that". CarRentals.com is not good anymore, I don't recommend them at all. Try different sites.

IM A HOME HEALTH NURSE- I WAS EXPOSED TO A PATIENT WHO WAS SHOWING SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF COVID 19. PATIENT AND I ARE GOING TO BE TESTED TODAY- SINCE I WAS CARING FOR HER. SINCE THEN I HAVE SELF ISOLATED UNTIL I RECIEVE MY RESULTS, WHICH COULD TAKE 3-5 DAYS AFTER BEING TESTED. MY RESERVATION IS IN 2 DAYS. I HAVE SUBMITTED A LETTER FROM A DOCTOR WITH A LETTER HEAD STATING IM IN SELF ISOLATION BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE EXPOSURE AND THEY DID NOT ACCEPT THAT...
THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT-
I have been informed by my escalations team that the attached document does not qualify to get a refund, since it is a word document that can be created or edited, we need medical proof issued by the hospital or health institution that is letter headed and signed by the doctor or medical lab test result for a positive test and illness.

IT DOESNT MATTER IF THE RESULTS ARE NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE- I STILL HAVE TO ISOLATE WHILE WAITING FOR RESULTS!

There was no reservation under my name in their system. Which I was charged for. So there was no "reservation" for me to be late for. My flight was delayed because of a sick passenger. That is 100% out of my hands on being "late". On top of having to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a walk in rental because they didn't have my reservation from you guys that I ALREADY PAID YOU FOR. Horrible customer service, both companies blaming the other and now the customer is at fault here? Your representative told me in multiple occasions I would receive a refund for the price difference in vehicles. $190 give or take with taxes. I honestly, in the name if customer service, thought I would receive a full refund. I will be blasting this entire experience on Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp, and any other social media platform I can find. At the very least I deserve the $190 refund of price difference.
