Tina and Chuck are very professional in regards to their work ethic. I used them for two moves while being disabled. However, Tina sent a contract with one price for the second move. When I asked for the final invoice, she just through out a number. I believe they need to be better versed in what their cost to benefit ratio should be. They are overpriced by 35% on their fees from the average cost of movers. I agree the price I was quoted originally for the second move was low and gave them double that. I would advise that they hire a financial person to help them out. Additionally, one of the unpackers sat around for 2/3 of the time but I got charged for her time. And the movers they hired cussed and were unprofessional the entire time. They are kind people but I believe they need to grow in a professional sense.
This company is a franchise and cares more about selling there program than your homes valuables. Use Maxsold or any other competitor there Terrible
All I can say is if you hear the name Caring Transitions save yourself the nightmare and keep looking! Not only did I lose money, I had to deal with the job never being completed, online auction had started & items still not all were listed. I ended up doing a lot of the work myself after numerous no call no shows. I was even told some of my items had brought in $1,000.00. I never made a penny. I also had to deal with arguing to get my house key back. I wasn't living at the house so gave a key to make it easier for them to get into the house. I was informed why did I need my key back since I was selling the house. I could not even get a donation slip as promised much less itemized list of what sold. This company seems to just want to sell to "their friends." Awful company and experience.
Very professional, educated and friendly. All their stuff are quality. It's also close to my house
Be wary of the descriptions of merchandise!
The description the the item was "25+ lavender ball mason jars"
Which in all sense reflects more than 25 jars and or possible other items. When we picked up the item there was only 25 jars. Not even a rim or lid.
So either they gave the other stuff away, or they purposely mislead the bidders into bidding higher, or lastly they just can't count.
Either way buyers beware of southern Ohio's caring transitions online auctions.
Complete sham! KenE Stocks Denver Central franchisee is a complete con artists! Ray Fabik the president of the company is equally useless. "careless transactions" took on my mother's estate by way of an industry referral. The people who gave the referral ended up having to finish the estate sale that he couldn't be bothered to finish. Which in the end was a good thing because they actually split the proceeds. Caring Transitions will contract every penny of the proceeds into their pockets. And invoice you after selling you loved ones stuff. Horrible company!
They prefer to work with dead people. No questions asked, take the money and run. They don't like people overseeing their crew. Big red flag. When asked for itemizing their fees, they declined. Rude!
Wish I had followed my own advice before engaging Caring Transitions in Baltimore, Maryland (the Baltimore Franchise) to handle a July 2021 "Estate Sale" for our recent relocation. Our home in Maryland was nearly 7,000 square feet and filled with 40+ years of collectibles, antiques, furniture and valuables (yes, lots of stuff that would be considered junk too, I'm sure)... The big mistake I made in engaging Caring Transitions was not fully understanding the 'sales pitch'... I thought they were going to charge me hourly rates (65 an hour) for all their prep, packing, etc. plus charges for packing supplies and for monitoring the auction, running it, etc. Turns out they do charge for all of that at 65 an hour plus a 'Lot Preparation Fee' called "Sale Management and Creation on their "Total Services" listed on accounting I received... AND they charge 35% of all sale proceeds (after deducting credit card and PayPal fees) in addition to all the labor charges. That 35% is across the board, regardless of sale value... so, for example $5500 of highly collectible bourbon took a 35% haircut along with everything else... In addition, the "Online Auction" for our rather large sale only lasted three or four days... there was no way we got adequate exposure or time to sell at reasonable prices. It appears that the 7,000 plus buyers they tout to people like us are knowledgable that a Caring Transition auction is a good place to 'steal stuff' at below bargain basement prices... sure, I know that a lot of household stuff is of minimal value when you go to sell it... In a Caring Transitions online auction EVERYTHING seems to have minimal value. The bottom line for our activity with them was a sale that generated $22,700... after all their fees and charges plus their 35% commission on the sale, they calculate that our 'net proceeds' are $3,700 - less than even the value of the Bourbon... should have kept it... would have at least eased the pain of doing this... If you are considering Caring Transitions PLEASE BE CAREFUL and take your time before signing anything with them. It is going to cost you a lot more than you might think from the sales pitch! You have no leverage once your sale is 'done'... it can't be 'undone'... BUYER BEWARE!
Make sure you test all items before you bring them home. I bought a microwave on my first auction that looked brand new but when I got it home it didn't work. The company graciously refunded my money. I have now participated in more than 15 auctions and I've been very pleased with the items I have received. If you buy electrical items make sure you test them before you leave. Be sure you look at the pictures very carefully and read the descriptions. Like any other auction site you have to be careful and know what you are bidding on. If the items are not as described or do not work they will refund your money. This is a good company and I will continue to buy from this company. I love the "Pickers Sale"s which include a lot of items that were not bid on during the auctions.
First I want to mention, I am 73 years old and am partially disabled which Stacey knew before she took on this task. I have a contract with caring solutions that says for a $500.00 Deposit they would downsize for me. When they first came they walked through my whole house and through all 3 of my sheds as I told them there was quite a large quantity. They said no problem. They were to take the first $2500 and then if a larger amt. Was made they would charge me 35% of the total sales. I told them I've never done this before so I really took them (Stacey) for her word. They told me nothing would be sold for less than $1.00, and never mentioned $1.00 PER LOT with more than 4,5, or 6 items in a lot. And mentioned nothing about not selling anything electrical. I also showed them and told them of the approx. 100 animated Christmas figurines up to 5 ft. Tall (animated means they are electrical and move. This was all to be done. Then I was told we should have a second sale just for Christmas at a later date closer to Christmas. Items start selling in the stores in September so I wanted it all done. I even postponed a surgery because of them. Two days after they were here, Stacey called me and told me it was too much and they would need another $2500 to hire a truck and find storage. They said they couldn't possibly do it>>> in other words they bit off more than they could chew and said they wouldn't be back unless another $2500 would be taken out of the sales. In other words they would take $5000 of the sales of my things. That's not what my contract says. They went through my whole house and saw everything I wanted to sell. Naturally they turned it back on me and said I'd have more room. They saw what was here and the size of my house. Then when I asked for my deposit back she said I had to pay for the help she sent here and I would not be getting it back. So as a result they have my $500 deposit and have sold nothing and the pictures they took they still have. I want those pictures because I paid for her employees to take them so they should be given to me since I paid the employees that took them. And on top of that, my house looks like a pig pen. I told them I would match my items with the boxes they belong in because she complained how much time it would take them to do it. Even though I could hardly walk, I tried to help them and then they stuck it to me. She didn't even offer to auction the things she already had pictures. In stead of renting a truck and storage places for $2500 more, I would have bought a new shed and put on my property. At least I would have something to show for that money other than renting a truck and storage. I don't trust them now. I have a video of how they left my house. I am not computer savvy, so I don't know how to put the pictures on here. If they had started with the big items, they would have had more room to put the other items. And for that matter, Stacey's attitude needs an adjustment. The first day she came into my house she said " your paying each of these people $65 an hour so we have to get started. She didn't need to come into MY home, with an attitude because she was having a bad day. For the record, she was only here for 3 hours and I haven't seen her since! She copped an attitude on me on the phone when she said they wouldn't be back! I will be contacting the BBB.
I don't know how to put my signed contract or pictures or videos on here, otherwise I would
Carol Brudon.
These people are not to be trusted. The remove items from site for their own personal use w/o permission or payment. THEY feed on the vulnerable. They don't know the value of anything Take way to long at what has to be done (charge by hour). Fees are outrageous! Try to charge by the hour and a commission! Do Not Use. NOTHING SHORT OF CRIMINAL
I bought a item and it took 14 days to get any response from her and suddenly when I retracted my bid and asked my credit card company to refund my money she responded
That's fine, and none of that is true. I explained to you the break down of shipping costs, you violated our terms and conditions and you can no longer bid on auctions on CTBids. Please learn to read instructions before bidding. Buyers like you are a nuisance. You don't understand how auctions (or shipping) works. You were given the cheapest shipping rate and refused to pay. I did absolutely nothing wrong.
I saw one of their items online called and paid for it with my credit card. Had a friend to go by and pick it up Only to find that it was marked up and sold for double of what I paid. Now I have to fight to get my money back dishonest would not recommend them for anything. They have terrible feedback plus now they've committed fraud lost $51.36 sending my credit card statement and a letter to the attorney generals office
If I could do a negative star review, I would. Not only did they not sell my big selling items, such as my couch, loveseat and chair, they dumped another client's trash at my house because it was being bulldozed. They threw my stuff in tubs and sold it in bulk items. Also took mattresses out of an outdoor building and left them in my yard to be ruined by rain. I was told the house would be emptied and anything left after the sale would go to charity. Didn't happen. When I inquired about these issues, I was told my stuff was not worth trying to sell nor would charity take it. An ice maker and 4 wheels were also missing... Then, they sent me a bill. Right... Not happening.
I am a very active online auction buyer and collector. I have had awesome experiences with the 3 local CTbids (caring transitions) locations in metro Atlanta. I also buy from out-of-state locations and that's where the trouble begins. With some of them, the communication is awful and I bought & paid for items that the franchise donated instead of completing shipping with me. Most of the locations deal with an outside vendor like UPS or Pak-Mail for shipping but the Franchise adds on a handling fee which varies from location to location. Some are $10 to $30 for the first item then it varies per item for a handling charge. Uniformity would be helpful to all.
With the cleveland location, and after several items being "donated" after I paid for them, I want an upfront answer on shipping and handling charges. If you are an out of state buyer, absolutely do not buy from the cleveland folks at this franchise location. Before the auction was completed, I messaged them about shipping as I was buying a sizeable amount of stuff and one particularly expensive item. I never got an answer to my question. Instead, I eventually get a text saying pay the invoice "ASAP" - followed by if it's not paid by 5pm, we will suspend you account and resell the items. Ever so lovely, I'm out working with crews and not sitting at a computer so I had no way to pay it. I sat down this morning pay them and find my account blocked just as they threatened. Amazing to me how some people do business when it's ever so easy to pick up a phone and communicate with someone. Lot's of online auctions to buy from so avoid this one! It's ok, the $1,000s I spend every year will just go to other business and not these guys!
Mark and Shawn-We appreciate everything you did for us! We knew this was a huge undertaking, and the stress that both my sister and I were under... well you can imagine along with having small children and a busy family. We never would have gotten this done just the two of us. You both were sensitive to us knowing that this was difficult, and an emotional process, however you both were so professional. You answered questions, continued to keep contact on a regular basis and let us know everything that was happening. This was priceless to us, and please let me know if you ever need a referral. Thank you thank you thank you!
I bought some Sterling coins from CT the other day and emailed the owner of the CT franchise, that I would like to have them sent to me USPS. I received a shipping invoice for $39.00. I was not at home when the invoice arrived and my husband, quite surprised, called the owner to complain of the high shipping charges because I had specially asked that it should be mailed. The owner was extremely rude and told him that she wouldn't do as requested, that all shipping was done through their shipping agent, that if he wanted, he could accept the shipping, $10.00 transfer fee, plus a packing fee, plus postage, or else forfeit the sale. Thinking that they were talking about a single coin and couldn't understand why these charges was more than the coin itself, he ask her to cancel the sale. Just as he hung us, I walked in and when he told me what he has done, I looked up the sale and saw it was from another, CT owner that he was thinking of. I immediately sent the CT owner an email, less than 5 minutes, canceling the the cancelation explaining, what had happened, and asked for a new shipping invoice. (Incidentally, the CT shipping invoice does not say where it is from, so I could see where he made the mistake. Not hearing anything for a while, we emailed again. I might add that I purchased these coins way under value. I finally received a response back that she would not send an new shipping invoice and and even though I had paid for the coins, she would be crediting back what I had paid, AND FUTHER MORE was blocking my account from trading the ANY CT owner again. In less than 5 minutes! I haven't received the refund as of this morning AND true to her word, my account has been blocked. I am convinced that because of the value to the coins vs what I payed for them, she kept them for herself and blocked me with all CT vendors so I won't speak out of her practices. Since I could not find any corporate telephone address, email or address, it leaves me with my only recourse but to cancel all of my purchases other CT owners, and there are several, and notify my request a charge back from my credit card company for all payments. This is the 2nd time something like this has happened. My husband bid on something last year and before he own, he went into the hospital with COVID 19, and almost died. When he was released and felt good enough to work on the computer, he found that he too had been frozen out of his account. When he sent out a question as to why, the CT owner said that he had sent 3 unanswered emails and when my husband tried to explain why the delay, the guy all but called him a liar and froze him from doing business with Carling Transitions. Folks this is one of the absolutely worst organizations. However, there is a silver lining to all stories: Even though the way my husband was treated last year, I was considering buying a franchise. We had talked about it several times since the first of the year. At $44,000,00, franchise fee, their business practices now reviled, I still have my $44,000.00 in the back. As they say, buyer beware!
They are totally focused on their subpar online auction platform. They do not support the on-site estate sale and relocation services. They are NOT nationally recognized for anything. Figure out how to do this on your own and save hundreds of thousands of your hard earned money.
We hired Caring Transitions for our second estate sale. We had one sale late spring, that sold a lot of our stuff. I needed to finish downsizing, as my husband has dementia. The local manager of Caring Transitions is really nice, as he's telling you he is there to help you get through this difficult transition. It is a business preying on people in real need of assistance in gaining some financial benefits from a lifetime of investing in things they enjoy and love. I can't speak for all Caring Transitions franchises, but the one in the Augusta, Georgia area is out for the money, and blaming the customer if you complain. It started with our possessions being lumped in plastic tubs and listed for a $1 per tub. I was told not to watch the online sale, because it changes dramatically toward the end. How does a tub of items worth several hundred dollars get sold for $11? And, the guys who were brought in pack and move us were absolutely the worst. We rented a POD, but instead of packing it properly, they put in an outdoor swing and other items that were not broken down to fit properly. Parts were left on the ground, and it was dumb luck that I found what would have been expensive replacements. The cleaning crew (not a part of Caring Transitions!) had to keep pointing out items that were left behind. In the end, the cleaning crew I hired gathered everything that was left behind, and are holding them for me. We got our stuff in the new house. 60+ year old china from Vietnam was not wrapped. Precious art was tossed in boxes with other items. There were many boxes that weren't even full. They packed heavy pantry items in huge boxes, and hangers in small book boxes. Furniture was broken, but the local Caring Transitions manager said it was my fault as it "had to have been broken before the move." It was NEW! All I can say is the local Caring Transitions manager in the Augusta Georgia area is ready to blame the owner. His people never do anything wrong. BTW - He sold over $9000 in items. We are going to be lucky if we get $2000. So much for their 35%. It is way, way, way more. That money was for my husband's care.
Answer: I liked the name with Caring. But they weren`t caring. They were expensive, and I would be better off donating my clean quality posessions to charity, but unfortunaletly I need the money for a move, so I will be exploring other avenues. I wasted 2 weeks waiting for them, and worked an entire week preparing my things for inspection.
Answer: No they are not a scam they are a very legitimate company. All the people that work for this company are carrying truthful individuals and tried to help you as much as they can.
