Never ending hoops to jump through, no end in site. Gonna have to drop my insurance with Oscar. Worthless.
I obtained CVS Caremark when my husband's company was bought by another larger entity & that's who they already used for their pre-existing employees. I allowed them to begin sending my medication refills immediately & after researching the cost of our insurance, our deductible, etc I promptly called them and told them in no uncertain terms to cancel my auto renew & delete my card. 3 mths later I received an e-mail saying that my order was sent out. So I called and asked how it was possible... crickets! Not an intelligent answer to be had. I was told there was no card on file, when I asked how the medication was being paid for then I was told it was charged to a card ending in ****. I asked for a supervisor, she spoke such broken English that I gave up & asked for HER supervisor. She took my information & said they call me because they're not on site.
The only information I got was that it was sent out & the payment was being processed. So they wanted me to wait for it to arrive, call back to dispute it, yadda, yadda, yadda to which I said that was an unacceptable option considering they were committing fraud.
The next day there was no call, amazing huh?
I called my credit card company & tried to file a fraud report, but they stated I had to wait for it to process... what? I need to let the fraud be completed?
I called back CVS Caremark to ask why I didn't receive a call. I was told they called & there was no answer or option to leave a message. Well, it's my cell phone... the one that's in my hand, so that's a lie!
The agent said that they deleted the order & will send a reimbursement check out via FedEx. Funny thing is they said it was already in the mail and couldn't be stopped... now it's miraculously stopped?
They were obviously just trying to charge me fraudulently and my complaint nipped it in the bud.
I wouldn't recommend using CVS Caremark at all! Their customer service sucks (I was in the process of being transferred several times & as a result I was hung up on & had to call back)!
Too bad zero stars is not an option. If you need prior approval for a drug, even if it has been previously approved in the annual process, good luck. You have a better chance of winning the PowerBall. Caremark has been approving a drug for me for at least a year under a medical necessity. Time for renewal came and it was denied for some unclear reason this year. Nothing has changed. The "geniuses" in their medical department recommended generics or other alternatives, some of which have been recalled by the FDA due to impurity issues and resultant deaths of people who have taken the drugs on the recommended list. Others show dangers for people with my medical history, of which Caremark is aware. If they would do their job, they would know that the drug in question has no generic. But I guess I should take one of recommended drugs anyway since the sooner I die from taking a poorer quality alternative, the sooner they can quit collecting my premium and stop paying benefits. You cannot spend less than 45 minutes on the phone with these people trying to get to their issue and heaven forbid if you have to call back with a follow up, because the representative in the phone pool has to take half an hour to review your entire history again. Their decisions appear to be capricious and made without looking at the record of prior approvals for the same drug. This company presents as a wholly unprofessional company that prays on people's unwillingness to ask questions and get answers that make any sense. If I had an option, I would avoid these people I could. Based on their recommendations, I cannot see that they have my best health interest at heart. Although conclusory, it looks like the bottom line trumps health considerations. Would not be so hard to understand if this drug had not previously been approved. If Congress wanted to investigate what is wrong with the prescription benefit systems in this country, Caremark would be the poster child for them to start with. These are my opinions of this business based on my firsthand dealings with them, I hope your experience is better.
My husband is other mail order plan. They are refusing to send him his BP medicine, so now I'm having to share mine with him. The customer service is a joke. They don't have a clue. The most incompetent plan. I can't imagine the sickness and deaths They are responsible for due to their incompetence. I have filed a complaint with Medicare against them, but I have doubts that they will take care of it. They have no business offering this sorry, disgusting plan to Seniors and should be held accountable. I hate this plan. In my book, they are incompetent murderers and should be out of business yesterday
Literally impossible to get a definitive answer (e.g., "YES" or "NO") on any substantive aspect of my prescription plan. I wish I were exaggerating.
Every time that I need my headache medicine refilled I am promptly sent an order confirmation with a ship date. When the order doesn't arrive I call and I am told different things from the prescription has expired or the order exceeds the prescription requirements. Nobody can tell me why I have an order confirmation with a ship date and no medicine. Nobody can give me a straight answer. Unfortunately I have no other way to get this medicine with my insurance coverage. I have to jump through hoops with a migraine to get my prescription filled. Still waiting. Order not received.
I wasn't able to have children so I did IVF my medicine that was proscribed was $4000. 00 CVS charged 10,000: eating up all of my insurance benefits non refundable and not corrected for the HUGE MONEY ERROR.
After trying and fighting for months over the availability issues of controlled meds on hand I am done. The pharmacy employees are tired of it as well. IT is not the employees at CVS that are the problem it is that CVS no longer wants to fill for Carenark because they don't get as much money so I do without so people that don't have a discount get filled ahead of me. FOR instance... they have 87 of 90 of the pills I need... Instead of filling my 87 and owing me three they will force me to come in every week to get 7 at a time so they can keep the stock for others that are paying full price. Each week I am having to call to remind them they need to refill my order. Then call to see if it came in. Then call to see since it didn't how to resolve it. Then ask when we can pick up a borrowed amount... then sit in line to pick it up. Then have to explain again to a young tech everything. Then repeat the next week because they refuse to fill the full amount... not cool. I have been with CVS 30 years. The last 3 have been hell. I had moved everything (30 prescriptions to an independent in town) because of the hassle. I am now moving my last script. I had rather pay 40 more a month than be pissed of and wasting an hour on the phone every week and atleast 20 in line every week for 1 script. Good bye CVS
CVS Caremark is one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with! Local CVS pharmacies cannot cross-talk with the mail order drug company. Insurance premiums through them are excessive. Service is poor.
Wait times to talk to an agent are excessive. Moreover, you're apt to get transferred between their various divisions none of which are interconnected. Whatever you do - stay away from this company!
Avoid this company at all costs they will do everything possible to avoid coverage. If I could give this company a negative I would.
If you think the savings on co-pays is worth it, please think again. Turning your wellness and health over to this garbage company could be lethal! Incompetence, apathy and total disorganization are their default! You will end up running from pharmacy to pharmacy begging for your meds! $25k a year in medical insurance and this is what you get! FYI: CVS careMARK is not linked to CVS brick and mortars. If you think they'll help you out during a med crisis you are WRONG :(
CVS Caremark is so aggressive. About 6 weeks before I need to renew my medications, they will send me a flurry of text messages, several a day. It is so intrusive. And then if that weren't bad enough, they start sending letters. So obnoxious!
They force you to fill a 90 day prescription force you to use their horrible pharmacies with the worst pharmacists around town. You never get a call back from a manager. They are literally the worst pharmacy care company around!
If I could give less than one star I would. So bad that they prompt me to write about it. Always an issue. These people must just want you to die because they fight like hell NOT to give you your meds...
My wife used Caremark a few years ago and it was a disaster. It literally threatened her health. She didn't get a Med on time that she needed and customer service was horrible.
I myself have stopped doing business with CVS because they also became so bad that my health was threatened due to their severe dysfunction. I was a loyal customer for decades.
I'm now signing up for Medicare Advantage Plan. The insurer is truly fantastic, and they offer discounted pricing if I use Caremark. I said No Way. I'd rather spend a minor amount more than to leave my health in the hands of Caremark.
According to highly regarded Johns Hopkins, 37% of all deaths are due to medical errors. With Caremark I'd be on the bad side of that %
This company cares nothing about the patient's quality of life. My doctor and I have been trying to get prior authorization for my medication since early January. We have complied with their every request (mostly trying cheaper medications) and have been denied four times. I have been having to pay $1,342 (thank God for Good RX!) per month for my medically necessary medication. I used Express Scripts previously and had no problem with getting my prior authorization approved. I have been using this med since 2006.
As a Pima County employee, I was told by Pima County to get my prescriptions filled at CVS because Caremark Rx insured people, like me, would receive the best prices there. I just found out that CVS is overcharging me $95.00 per 30-day supply of a medication I need. CVS charges $280.00, while Albertson's Pharmacy only charges $185.00 for the same medication. Caremark Rx coverage is crap, and Pima County is lying to us. The drug rep for the medication I am taking has never heard of anyone paying more than $30.00 for this medication. Caremark is complete garbage.
One day you can have your prescription, next day you can't, forget the prior auth, it won't help. Nice to have the prescription service overruling the doctor. NOT.
My wife was prescribed Stalera after having bowel resection surgery due to Crohns disease that was forcing her intestines to narrow and close. This was denied saying Humera was required first. Upon submitting the request for Humera it was denied. We were told all that was needed was an appeal with information from the doctor. Needless to say after doing that she was denied saying that she din't meet the qualifications that the doctor stated full well in his review that she had met. Now we have to do an emergency appeal. Crappiest insurance I have ever had. When it comes time to renew we will be going elsewhere. I would reccomend that if you have other choices even if it costs a little more I would choose a different company. I have worked for insurance companies in the past. They just want to make their millions and screw over the little guy.
If you like being told 'your doctor didn't prescribe that' or 'we sent that to you' or 'here's how much it will cost' or 'we won't bill you until you approve the cost' when NONE of those things are true, then this is the pharmacy for you! The phone folks are SO HELPFUL and kind, but WHATEVER MACHINE TAKES OVER IS NUTS. NOTHING they say happens. Want the medication you asked for? Sucks to be you! If you live in CA they will send you whatever they want. Don't like it? Call for 6 weeks begging for the right one, then they will send it (6 weeks late) and NEVER GIVE YOU THOSE 6 weeks BACK! So if you are a 'whatever drug you wanna give me is cool, whenever you wanna send it' kind of consumer, then sure, they are fine. If you've been on the same rx for 25 years, get ready for a shakeup.
Answer: Unfortunately, my health insurance provider switched from Express Scripts to CVS Caremark. This would not be my choice!
Answer: I could reach customer service however they do not provide assistance. Unless you request a senior member it's a waist of time.
