In order for you to recieve or reply to messages you need to purchase membership. Not worth it. I paid the membership fee and have messaged several care givers and no replys. I am out of money and out of a sitter for my son. Scam scam scam stay away
I signed up for care.com thinking that I could earn a few extra bucks. I applied for this dog sitting gig. The next day I received a notification saying that I had received a message from the job that I had applied for. I open the message and I CANT READ THE MESSAGE! It says if you would like to see the reply you can upgrade your account. I was already not wanting to spend the $20 but I decided that if I did get the job it would be fine so I got the 1 month subscription. I go back to see what message I had received and there was absolutely NOTHING there. They scammed me into thinking I had a message and took my money later to find out the message did not exist. I have requested to have my account downgraded but have not gotten a message back. I also emailed them about a refund but after all of the reviews I read I am positive I will not be getting anything back. Lesson learned. NEVER AGAIN CARE.COM
Y They just want your money and you get little to nothing back in return. Features that used to work now dont because I will not upgrade. Constant ad pop ups saying I must upgrade so I get a better listing and viewing by potential clients. I have always passed my background check and honestly have never gotten a job from this site (caregiver here). What else. Oh the sorry drop down resume system that never works and if you have nt worked for someone on care.com it will now let you post a resume. So I cannot use the drop down box. Sorry not sorry care. Com but will just advertise my services in the paper for that price. Also skeeved out that my privacy is compromised AND CLOSING IT DOWN. Just avoid.
Years ago this used to be a very good site. Now care.com is run by scammers just trying to take your money! A "Free membership" really gets you nothing. I wasn't able to see the message sent back to me when I applied for babysitting positions. It now says I need to upgrade to a premium membership in order to read it. Care.com doesn't tell you this until you are at this stage in the game. And it's not cheap! Never was like this a few years ago!
In one opportunity I open my profile with Care.Com as a basic member. I put my email as a personal information to the company, but in a few days I started to receiving dozens of false messages for Movil and email, asking for my service as care giver, all the stories was false and had the same standard, they ask my personal information as my social security, address. This page make me afraid. I don't understand how can it continue working.
I have been a full time nanny using care.com for years. I am very unhappy with the website. After going into my account to apply for some additional jobs I found that they recently have made a change to where a care giver must pay to send an application to potential clients. Unfortunately this makes it very expensive to manage that task as job applications are rarely replied to, in my experience and 6 other of my colleagues only about 1 in 10 applications sent get a reply back and maybe 1 in 20 actually take it so far as to interview. I can't pay 20 bucks just to hope I get 2 replies and hopefully 1 interview. That adds up quick. And after knowing that care seekers pay a monthly fee, I think this whole site has gotten to out of hand and expensive!
One of the features I paid for was not working correctly. I was also frustrated that I was billed after the end of the month without any type of notification so that I could cancel. Lastly, care.com shares your information with third parties as a default unless you carefully read the fine print and change it. When I brought up my issues with customer service in an email I simply got an email back saying they would cancel my membership after the end of the month. They did not address anything I was concerned about or apologize for the error in their website causing me to not get the correct applicants for jobs I posted. I paid for nothing.
I simply checked out the site once and made the mistake of putting down my email address. I received dozens of emails from applicants when I had no job to offer. I think this website is one big FRAUD.
I have been a member 'care giver' for many years on care.com - until today! When I began my membership the site was relatively newer and I was pretty impressed. I even got a few jobs. But the company has since lost sight of it's orginial purpose of putting the care giver together with the care seeker; they have gotten VERY greedy. I always had the 'basic' membership. But I started to notice that I was no longer getting any replies to jobs I inquired about. I found out that 'basic' members can no longer "talk" with other 'basic' members. One of you has to have the paid (and very expensive!) premium membership. I am so disgusted with this company. I was going to try the paid membership for 1 month but you can only sign up with your credit card for a recurring monthly payment! So I decided to try giving them a call. As of this moment, I have been "on hold," listening to a recorded message about them having "high call volume," for 1hour and 8 min's! When I get through to them I will close my account and I will certainly be spreading the word about the greedy practices of this company. Ok, so after over 1 hour on hold, I did speak with a man with a very strong foreign, hard to understand, accent, from some remote call center. I gave him my complaints. He confirmed that indeed it used to be that 'basic' members could talk with other 'basic' members, but that the company updated their policies to reflect that at least one of you must have the 'premium' paid membership. No wonder I was never getting any responses! I knew my basic membership gave me limited access and I was fine with that, but to go further and limit all basic members from contacting each other is such BS!
I have used Care.com for about two years. There are a lot of candidates but you have to be careful and know what you are looking for. I had one person I had to call the police on so I don't know how well they vet the candidates. Out of 4 hired caregivers, there have been two that have gotten it right -- so 50/50? HOWEVER, for some reason, they terminated my account for absolutey no reason. I am so shocked they did this and their documentation does say for no or any reason. But come on, you don't get rid of a customer for "no" reason! Something is fishy with this system but again, if you are careful and do ALL of your background checks and reference checks, you can find a few good apples.
Where these applicants come from, I have no idea. As least Craigslist is not a scam!
I've had a profile for three-years, and nothing. At first I wasn't consistent, so I thought it was me, but then for the past six months, I've applied for jobs that I match or are in my area, and not even one reply. Then I learned that you can't even get a reply unless you pay monthly, you're wasting your time. Based on other reviews, you're wasting your time and money if you do pay. I've gotten messages from people on jobs to email them, then after a few of those, I got hacked and my computer and phone became compromised. I had to reset my phone back to factory to restore it to safety (didn't want to take any chances), and my computer, well the normal security, and resets had to be done. As I read through MANY jobs I started to realize that they are all pretty much saying the same thing, just rearranging the words, feels like a scam site.
I felt about as safe talking to people at care.com as I do on the legendary 'danger haven' of the lightweb... One tiny picture several tag lines didn't give me any information about people and I was hesitant to share my address with several that responded. Charging for nothing is offensive. I am embarrassed I used dollars to vote for this option. I can only try to remember to avoid contributing to shady Internet companies that do not provide services or contribute.
This site is awful. Both parties have to pay? No way. They try to scheme you in any way possible. Sittercity.com is better. An actual legitimate site.
I was checking out the Care.com site to see if it was something I would be interested in to find a pet sitter. They required my name & credit card info in order to browse the site. They put a 4 minute timer on the page so I thought that meant I had four minutes to check out the site. Apparently giving them my name & credit card info constituted signing up, my mistake. I saw they charged my credit card. I never completed my profile, never posted a job, never contacted a caregiver. I contacted them via email (the only way to reach them) within 2 hours to cancel the "service" & be issued a refund. I went in & totally removed as much information as the system would allow, but of course they still kept my credit card info. I received a robo reply saying essentially "sorry you were unhappy with our service & your credit card will not be charged next month." I'm sure I'll have to fight with them in a month, but I'll deal with that later. I emailed them back & said the robo reply didn't address my concern & request for a refund for a service I never received but they didn't reply. I informed them I was going to dispute the transaction if they didn't credit my card. I spoke with my bank (Bank of America) & they essentially said too bad, there was nothing they could do because I had signed up for the service. Lesson learned, but I wanted to share my experience & warning with those considering signing up for Care.com. DON'T!
These people are unbelievable. Who pays to apply for a job? That's nuts. As someone below me said,"If I had $20+ to pay monthly for premium membership just to apply for a job, I would not need a job!"
Useless site for people like me who go there with hopes of making money and they're asking for the little that you do have. Sad.
I was about to pay for my one month subscription when i read the fine print which read "You also agree that your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each subscription period, and your credit card will be charged according to the above terms for your plan, unless you cancel your subscription before it renews. If you cancel your subscription during a subscription period, you will continue to be billed for the subscription on a monthly basis until its originally scheduled expiration date". When I called customer service I was told that if I subscribed today I would be automatically billed again on August 29. When I asked her how i could avoid being charged again she responded that that I would have to down grade my subscription on August 29. I told her I was confused how could I avoid being charged by downgrading on the same day that I was to be billed again. The lady got an attitude and told me I did not understand and kept repeating the same thing. I asked if I could speak to another rep, she said that was not possible. I decided not go on with the monthly paid subscription. Also, since I have signed up on the cite, I have rbeen contacted several times by a people with the same story of losing their husband, their child being in a wheel chair and them needing to have a new wheel chair delivered to my home priorr to their arrival, which was clearly a scam. I am taking down my profile.
I am beyond disappointed with this company. We paid their $39 monthly service fee to try to find a nanny for our children. We paid the money, and within an hour Care.com terminated our account with no explanation. They still debited our account and have refused to return any emails or communications. This company might not be a scam, but they have horrible customer service, horrible account management, and are more than happy to take your money, terminate your account with no services rendered, and then completely ignore you.
I have been contacted about 10 times by potential clients for my tutoring service. Every contact is by text message. Every contact is worded nearly identically, and is by someone who's child "will be moving to my area in a few months" and needs English and math tutoring and someone to run errands on weekends. The wording always sounds as if the person writing it is foreign, and they always offer to pay outlandish prices, even though my fees are stated on the site. They never give a contact number, and when I ask them to call me to discuss specifics, I do not hear back from them or am told they have some disability that prevents them speaking by phone. I'm afraid it sounds too "phishy" to be true.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
