I've been on this site for about 4 years and have even paid for Premium Services and the only thing I have ever gotten was Scams asking me for my home address and Banking Info. When I send them messages about the Scams, I am ignored. Don't waste your time or money.
We are moving today, and I had four open jobs (housekeeper, nanny, dog sitter, and helper for my son with special needs). Out of nowhere, I was alerted that I was "lifetime banned" from the site. The $120 membership fee through iTunes is not refundable. They won't tell me why, and I have been using this service for TEN YEARS. I had six interviews lined up; but all the contact information is not available anymore and the candidates were all apparently alerted that I was banned. I am a professional working mom who relied on this site and told every female I ecer coached over the years that care.com was the secret to my success. Right now I want to scream! They point out in their TOS they can ban anyone for any reason at any time, there is no process for undoing the ban, and they don't have to tell you why. How is this legal?!
Please don; t register with these guys, they say they have a free service but then want to charge you to forward you request to the babysitters. I didn't pay and now I've had over 40 emails from them saying sitter has responded. I went with Sitters instead.
Been on Care.com for 3 years off and on. Never get a response after applying to hundreds of caregiver and housecleaning jobs. Just found out today that I have to pay in order to receive a response from those I applied to. They never told me that so I just wasted all this time waiting for jobs and they were just scamming me. They should be shut down for committing fraud against everyone on the site
Total waste of $$$. Don't send money. They make $ off of us looking for job. They "say" people are interested but I applied for 40 plus jobs. Nothing!
Not alowed to send phoe number to speak with somebody you want to hire. Need to use a confusing chat message and I believe you need to pay $35 to talk to prospect.
Click on the 5-star reviews and review them.
Many of the "5-star" reviews should be "1-star". People write a bad review, but accidentally leave the wrong star checked. LOL
Concerning the other positive reviews: This site is not reviewing your specific care provider. This is a review of "care.com". There is no benefit to telling us, "Susie Smith is the best care giver ever!" I bet there is less than a 0.1% chance that any of the other readers live near you or Susie Smith.
Remove those two erroneous categories from the positive reviews and look at what remains. :)
I HATE companies that provide no phone number on the website for you to contact them. Further, on the credit card statement there is a number, BUT THERE IS NO OPTION TO TALK TO ANYONE ABOUT STOPPING YOUR BILLING THAT YOU DID NOT ASK FOR! Finally, when you call, you have to pretend to want to hire someone to even get into the phone system. SHAME ON THIS COMPANY!
I get messages from Care.com saying someone is interested in my profile and would like me to contact them. I have to buy credits to apply for the job and correspond with the person. I have never heard back from anyone. I had gotten a few good jobs on this site a few years ago and then no payment was required. It is run much differently now and Ive had no new jobs since then. Beware! I also saw an ad I had applied to on care.com on kijiji site, complete with my picture and a link to Care.com.
I started to sign up for care.com but realized that it was not the right company to advertise with. I cancelled the same day. They keep charging my account. I called to talk with them about it but the person I talked with would not put me in touch with billing. They kept saying they did not have the billing departments number and that they would pass on an email to them and this will take up to a week for them to email back. They will not call back. Its a scam they just keep taking your money if you make the same mistake.
I can't seem to get any assistance from them. I had an employee write a review and it won't show up. I have emailed them twice, no response. I also emailed them a couple weeks back asking about a woman who wants to pay $100 a week for 72 hours/week which comes to $1.38/ hr. THIS IS NOT EVEN MINIMUM Wage which is illegal. I am frustrated with the lack of problem solving within their corporate office. I even called and couldn't get any assistance. Whatever you do, don't UPGRADE. It's not worth it.
I also had my account (which I haven't used in years) closed because of a background check for something from 17 years ago that didn't even violate their own rules, which I sent to them in an email. They were completely ridiculous and "thanked me" for my understanding which is funny considering how I do not understand how something so insignificant can get me banned. I think if I was paying to use the site they wouldn't have closed the account.
First, it took about 15 minutes and finally a Google search just to FIND the customer service phone number. At least someone answered quickly. But I was told that bc I hadn't received and responded to an email regarding a concern on my background check (an issue that's totally minor and explainable), I am NEVER allowed to have an account with them again. They only give you a few days to respond, and I was away on vacation, so didn't even have a chance. Total BS!
Unfortunately, I did not see the reviews before signing up.
They make it nearly impossible to cancel service and even after disputing the charges they will not relinquish the money for months you did not use their service.
Their service is poor at best and and even after charging my credit card for an additional 7 months (yep 7 months of unauthorized charges) they did not provide services during that period. Run away from this company!
Sadly I did not read reviews about care.com before signing up for the website, but this company is a major scam. They tell you that if you upgrade you will receive access to background checks, references, and contact information, yet once you upgrade your account, you actually do not have access to background checks. You are required to pay an additional amount to sign up for background check access.
I retraced my steps thinking that I missed something (fine prints), but nothing in the process of upgrading commented on the fact that background checks are not accessible with the upgrade. They seriously mislead customers to thinking that background checks are accessible if/when you upgrade. There is no difference between the U.S. and corruption done in developing countries; the U.S. simply has legalized corruption, in which big business rally together, hire lobbyists to get congress to write laws benefiting them and scam us regular folks. When you call Care.com to complain, they refuse to give you a refund for their obvious scam. SMFH
Care.com does not review or do a adequate background check on anyone. Missi Lehmann abused my child and was allowed to post as a legitimate caregiver. I figured out after I let her go that she was abusing my son. I had several parents tell me they witnessed her slapping and abusing my child at the park and my child recently was able to communicated the constant abuse from this person. Do not ever use Care.com to ever hire a nanny.
After complaining about care.com and receiving a class action lawsuit settlement check for the misuse of my personal information, guess what? I was terminated from the site after many years off and on with them. Always great reviews and I have met so many great families from accepting jobs on care.com. I work for three families presently. This company doesn't have to tell you why they terminated you but they send you a message saying that it could have been for numerous negative issues, theft, mistreating a client etc. I made so many great relationships that I don't care what care.com tells everyone I have ever had contact with that I am terminated, elude to a negative incident etc. They are a money grubbing scam.
Ive had to take care of my husband for the last 5 yrs. Because of heart problems. This was stressful on me as I had to take care of all my husbands doctors appointments, assist him with keeping there, filling prescriptions, as well as working and take care of the home. ALLOWING True Hands Home Health Care to come into my life as our home health provider has really benefitted and a blessing for my family. It has made me to feel more comfortable leaving my husband alone knowing that someone will be there to take care of him when Im not at home with him. I really enjoying the much needed assistant that they provide. I would recommend True Hands Home Health Care.
For my mom's live in caregiver opening, I got 18 responses, 12 applicants, interviewed 5, all outstanding with experience and references, and hired a great person in less than 4 weeks. Effective, the results are well worth the premium membership.
I cancelled my premium membership about 5 months ago and every week or 2 I receive a text from a new number claiming to have gotten my number from the care.com site and looking for childcare or personal assistance. I never put my number up as public when my account was active in the first place so I wasn't sure how they had gotten my information. I have taken a screen shot of each text I receive and email the help center to which they respond something along the lines of "your privacy is one of our top concerns" I've sent at least 10 emails and still continue to receive unwanted text messages. I would skip the site and see if your local area has a babysitters page on Facebook. That way you can get a better idea of who will be watching your children/who you would be working for.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
