I got a care giver, that worked out fine. But Beware. If you are signing-up for ONE month. Care.com uses deceptive words. They do not tell you you have to cancel. My feedback from the was: "If you click the orange upgrade button, you will see **All subscriptions automatically renew until cancelled** Nicely hidden. You know you Im right. Im sure care.com thought long and hard how to confuse us for your gain. They would not give me my money back. It took me three months to notice.
I was looking for babysitter/ nannie for my 2 year old and I put my email in my profile for potential employees to email me and they have taken it out over 3x which is frustrating! I don't see why you guys don't advertise that you have to pay in order to even read the messages! What an joke and complete waste of time
So annoying, it's super slow or down a lot of times. I keep getting "error" when I send a message or try to schedule someone.
Care.com has not been providing good "care" of their clients". I have potential babysitters to hire that I am unable to run background checks (that I paid in advance for) on because of their website technical difficulties. I have asked for them to run manually but I guess in this tech world things can no longer be completed manually but by a system. So I have been waiting 2-3 weeks for them to fix the issue. I have followed up via email several times with no response from anyone. I have called several times with no update, progress or resolution to the technical situation. I just keep getting the same reply. I have requested to speak to a supervisor and they tell me that they will call me next week. I am frustrated and sadden by my experience. Your main clients are most likely "working moms". Do you think that we have the time to call and email several times a week with no resolution? You should consider making things easier for you type of clientel.
Signing up is a complete waste of time. I only have the basic level, being able to view and apply to jobs, but when a potential employers responds, the site tells me I have to upgrade to a paid membership in order to view messages and engage in further contact. As a college student who is just in need of some part time work, I found this to be absolutely ridiculous. No where on the site does it state you need a paid membership in order to communicate with potential employers. It's frustrating because I can see potential employers are emailing be back and I simply cannot view their messages. I feel bad because of this and I also think it's unfair to both parties. Potential employers may think I'm a flaky care giver because of my lack or response, but in reality it's because the site is blocking the ability to view messages. Overall, go with another site or find another way to network with parents. I don't believe in paying to get a job.
State explicitly they don't offer refunds, so at least their upfront about it. But, terrible way to do business. No email notifying that they are billing you etc... Other free sites that much better..
Stay away from Care.com!
I work for one family and they pay me through the Care website. Several transactions from last year where rejected by my bank and returned to Care's payment processing company. The funds have disappeared ever since. It amounts to over $1,000. I have spent numerous hours trying to figure this out with Care, have called in and emailed soooooo many times, and waited for hours. It has taken over two months now. And still, problem is not resolved. My family's credit card was charged with over $1,000 and I have not received it, and it looks like I never will either. The money got lost in the books because they don't know how to operate a business, and the company makes itself richer on the work I performed with the money I earned and should rightfully belong to me. Really upset with this poor and terrible service. They owe me money and are not willing to resolved the issue.
Stay away from it. When something does not work, do not expect they will resolve the issue for you! They will also not reimburse for any kind of issues. They just pretend the problem does not exist! And send you away recommending to talk to someone else.
I am a student, out for summer break and, because its so short, decided to try pet sitting over the summer instead of applying for position at businesses. Thinking care.com was a reputable site, I decided to give it go. The Basic membership (free) state we could apply to jobs for free. I designed a profile and was excited to build my business. Well little did I know, in order to apply for positions on this site, you have to have credits and credits have to be purchased. Currently, most positions required 4 credits to apply, each at about. 90 cents a pop. So I would be paying nearly $4 for each application. How is this legal? Why should I be paying to apply for employment? If I had extra money to frivolously spend on applying for employment, I probably dont need a summer job. Its a horrendous system and keeps a ton of people from applying simply for economic reasons. The "free" jobs that are listed on the website consist of outside companies advertising for people to join them. I most certainly won't be using care.com. Its a disgusting and greedy practice to require people to pay to apply for jobs. Care.com should be ashamed, I would give no stars is possible
Tried running my normal background check on potential ee's yesterday and it kept saying it needed to VERIFY ME before it would run the service I had paid for... It asked for info on me which I then provided and said it couldn't verify me! SOL! NO instructs - nothing -. I called Care.com only to be told that procedures had changed and that I needed to fax off my passport, utility bills, paycheck stubs etc. so they could run a background check on ME before they would run the profiles on my prospective ee's. NO INFO ON CARE.COM WEbsite. They figured if you got frustrated enuf u would finally call. Terrible ( non-existent) rollout of new guidelines.
This is my third time use of care.com, first time before 3 year this was ok, I mean the care giver you try to contact they reply you back. My second year expirence was not good because i was trying to contact some people they never contact me but the other people that I never contacted they tried to contact me but finally I got some one out side the care. Com. This is my third time and I am pretty much sure the all msgs or email are not going to the perticular person that you trying to contact and only one person/day may or may not tried to contact you that you never contacted before. In this way they try to lengthen your time of member ship and you can never end up with your match. I think i have wasted my money this time.
If you are dissatisfied, you can not get a refund. I paid for a year's subscription (over $100) and used the site for 2 days. I didn't realize that you paid when you started and then paid a fee when you signed someone up for a job, and then another fee for insurance for the provider.
Just tell people upfront what all the costs are. I don't mind paying when I know what my costs are. Care.com doesn't care.
I just joined care.com about a week ago in search of a new job, as I quit my full time job. I don't pay for my membership, i just have the "basic" one. I have received multiple emails from parents who are in need of care for their children. I have only had to pay for the background check and MVR check, as my potential families have requested it. If you are reading reviews before signing up, definitely do it if you are in search of a job! You don't NEED to pay any money, they don't force it upon you.
Rip off site. Something is always a glitch even though I have been trying to leave peacefully. Keep trying to upgrade you. But upgrade means nothing
Glad i ran across this review site regarding care.com I was very interested in care.com. Doing a career change and wanted jobs pertaining to animal and elderly care. I thought this site was going to be a perfect fit. A red flag went up when I noticed i had to pay for credits to even apply for any postings. I can understand a membership fee, but there fee's seemed excessive. Judging by what i am reading not only do you have to a $25 membership fee is also required to get responses. They are just taking both ends money and getting away with it. Unbelievable. Not to mention, there is no screening process which puts both parties at risk. How is this site still operational.
Two months ago, I had paid for three months of a membership so I could get a better chance at getting jobs. First of all, I hadn't gotten any jobs until recently. I asked to cancel it a month ago after getting no offers for a month, but they refused. So I kept it and I got one gig, not full time. So, I'm getting payments through care.com and tried to hook my card up to it, they said it had insufficient funds. So I tried again later, then it said it was the wrong card number. I used the same exact card to make payments for a membership. So what I get from this is that they'll approve my card so they get paid but not for me to get my money. So I called their number, which took a while to find. And I click the numbers I needed to and it was suggesting all of these issues which none of them were related to mine. So I did some research on how to get a person on the line. I clicked the number and waited for 45+ minutes for somebody and finally pressed 1 for somebody to call me once they're available. A couple 30 seconds after I hung up, I get a call back from them. My phone rang for 3 seconds and then they hung up before I could answer. I called back and they said it was after business hours and to call the next day. I had been trying to get a hold of them since 10 this morning and nothing. I need the money I have been working for. This is schemey to me. Why is it so difficult to get to talk to a person on care.com?
You can get a basic membership it's easy! You can apply for jobs your interested in, BUT! If you want the potential employer to be able to respond, YOU need to upgrade 24.99 a month, So Why don't they just Tell you that from the beginning, that way your informed and not lure you with a basic membership that will do u no good, just flat out tell folks what it's about and the different priced memberships from month to month etc and call the 24.99 per month the Basic and go from there, instead of luring you with a basic membership that you can't use until you "upgrade", it's a dirty way of doing business
I think this a totally horrible I wanted find a babysitter for date nights and I just couldn't First off they don't hold anyone accountable if they check their messages. I had a couple of experiences were I was arranging something then they suddenly were moving!
I would suggest you go to the local colleges that have classes in what your needs are and look for students. They're trying to impress someone, their teacher/school. Trying to get a good grade. Care.com applicants are very iffy at best.
Thanks for listening and stay safe
I used care.com when I moved to a new state and I had no sitter and I honestly did not feel comfortable hiring a stranger. To make a long story short right after hiring a care.com sitter I was informed my account would be shut down for a fight I was in 13 years ago. I explained that I was no longer a teen and that they were treating me unfairly. I was young literally. I understand taking certain charges like disorderly conduct very seriously. However, there is nothing else on my record and I was not trying to be a caregiver. I needed one. They made me go through some investigation where someone called and asked me a yes or no question which did you remember the year olf my charge and I said yes and that was it. 1 question and boom it was over the next day I was informed that my account was permanently terminated to make an even longer storey short I had no sitter in a state I did not know anyone and the sitter I eventually found turned out to be a closet crack addict and her husband hit my child leaving a bruise on his leg. This could happen to anyone, however. Care is supposed to protect parents from having to seek sites like craigslist or neighbors they think to see safe and then find out almost too late it is not. I don't blame care for my child being hit by someone I blame them for taking something I did 13 years ago out on my child saying I am not worthy is the sane as saying my child is not welcome either... what happened to the care in Care.com. It was built for single parents and news flash single parents shouldn't be told any ever. Screen properly not blindly;. Anyone can harm a kid and to make matters worse the girl I did find was an 18-year-old with a 3-month-old baby that she showed up at my house too with her boyfriend in tow and when she asked if her boyfriend could pick up my child from school I fired her immediately and that is when I turned to my neighbor who I did screen by having playdates but people will do bad things regardless of a misdemeanor or a 100 percent clean record.
I have been on care.com for 3 years. I have rarely had any jobs contact me. After years of being active on and off the site. I was applying to atleast 10-15 jobs during the time I was looking and I never got any responses. I got curious and wondered why nobody every contacts me back. I made a fake account and put an ad for a babysitting job, then went on my other profile and applied for it. Then went back on the fake account and realize that if you do not have a premium account, the person can not even read your message or contact you back. So now i know why no one has contacted me. This site is only here to take your money. Waste of time
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
