WHAT IS A CORRECT NUMBER? There is no way to end my account here; everything I got was a scam of a deaf woman with kids and a dog moving to "my area"... and then she wanted my address and personal information.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET OFF THIS SITE?
LISA
If I could give it no stars I would. They do a background check without telling you if you want to hire. This private information somehow gets to a scammer who tries to get money from you by pretending your relative is in trouble. Coincidence?
The name Mr. Coleman, wife Betty and daughter Clara. Clara is in a wheelchair supposively and they are coming from CA to attend classes for the bureau of investigation and will give 300 dollars for 3 hours a day. The kicker was the first weeks money will be sent from the bureau ahead of time along with the money for the wheelchair. When you deposit the money in the bank let them know. I told him that I don't know where their from but here in MI that's called a scam and if the check comes I will give it to the police and the bank. Didn't here from them again. The whole thing was skeptical because this would have been my first job. Be careful guys.
My daughter applied for a dog-sitting job that was a total scam- she wound up getting threats that someone would "slice her up" if she didn't cash a fraudulent check. No help from care.com but we did go to the police.
An absolute rip off, a hot spot for scammers that will exploit your information and on top of that, you're less than likely to find any work. I spent more money on this website than I made from it. Don't waste your time. When I inquired about the scammers I was being exposed to and receiving texts from, care.com did nothing but send an automated message. They care about nothing but making money off innocent people looking for work. It enrages me this corrupt and wasteful site still even exists.
I used to use sittercity.com and care.com back in 2011 to get jobs. Wow, how things have changed. The site charged my card despite me not signing up for a premium account, there are never well-paying jobs posted, and I just got a scam email from them. I tried to find contact information to notify them of this, and there is NO email, and the phone number I found on a random website hung up on me -- never spoke to ONE person. The only thing they are good for is taking your money. Stay far, far away.
Yes, the girl in the TV ad for Care.com is adorable. That's where the fun stops. I signed up for a "premium" membership so I can work while I was between jobs. Kept getting the same scam ad sent to me. Never once did I get a legit lead to follow. Complete waste of money.
After being a member for over 7 years they terminated my account. No reason given.
No phone number to call. Sent several e-mails asking why my account was deleted and
No response. Worked for irresponsible families of whom did not pay until I threatened to report them. Posts by employers were fraudulant, posting one rate of pay and then upon interview reduceing by as much as $5.00 per hour.
I never signed up for a form of membership where I was being charged $20 a month and I was never refunded. There were no emails about signing up and or renewing the membership. I also opted out of having my phone number public and to receive text alerts, but IT STILL HAPPENED. And not to mention, a bunch of strangers were texting me! I told them to take my number off of my page, I even tried it myself and I still received texts! This whole website and their customer service is a joke.
7 months after cancelling with them, they started spontaneously charging me again without me having signed up again and without sending Me any kind of renewal notification or billing notification, like I used to get when I was a willing customer. They refuse to refund anything beyond 30 days. Please beware that when you cancel you HAVE to get some sort of unique confirmation number for it to hold water with your credit card company or bank when you try to dispute the charges. Of course care will say they don't give out transaction or confirmation numbers by you simply have to insist. I regret ever signing up.
Care.com is a shoddy service that simply doesn't interact with it's clients. You can never get a live body. It's automated, but their programs never work properly. The fastest they have resolved any of the many problems they have is about two and a half days. Finally, they lure you in with one stated fee, but once that's paid, there are additional costs when you interact with one of their contractors. And I often get random billings that were not disclosed and are not explained. They get your credit card information and continue to add fees and costs indiscriminately.
Stay away from Care.com!
I got. A bad review from a client that kept in boxing me for a scheduled time to communicate via chat. Twice I set up a time, even gave out my personal phone # with a time on the second attempt. This per never called but keep texting asking questions not related to the position. So I politely asked that person to please stay Out of my in box. Later I saw a bad review on my page from the same person and asked care.com to review it, they could have read the message... but the bad review remained... So I called to cancelled my profile and was told that I could never post on there site. I Suggest you syay away from this site
My ladies son's sitter was under constant sexual harassment with his father. She called the company after quitting and no response. Offers of drinking and sex with an underage girl. Do NOT let your daughter work here, they don't care. Shame on them.
I am embarrassed to even write this review as you will see why. About 5-years ago, when my sons were younger, my wife signed up for a 1--month trial on Care.com to find a babysitter. We ended up finding a babysitter on Craigslist for free! But the scam at Care.com had been set. Apparently my wife had to provide her credit card initially, which I didn't know about till much later. After the free 30-day trial, they started billing us! The card is only billed quarterly, this way, you only get 4 chances a year to see the charge. A calculated move by Care.com to disguise the fact that they are charging you. Plus, no emails were ever sent saying "Hey, we are charging you for another quarter"! My wife's credit card was connected to a business account that I seldom review. When I uncovered the sham in May 2017 I called Care.com. I told the customer service rep I had been charged every quarter for the last 5-years and this had to be a mistake! To that she said "I will look into it." Needles to say she never called back. I made 5 more calls and eventually got an email from Care.com saying they would refund 1-months worth of charges, since that was "all they were required to do under their contract." They said it was unfortunate that I had been charged over $1,200 for the last 5-years, but ultimately it was my responsibility to "cancel services". I've thought about suing them but it's just not enough money to sue over. All I know is they are complete crooks and a total scam! --- Bruce C.
The background check DOESNT matter! We have tried them over and over thinking we just got a bad egg. Thieves, liars, crazy people! Stay far away from this company!
Charged me for a monthly subscription even though I ordered a 1-month subscription. I'm sure it was written in the fine print somewhere that they would continue to charge you unless you cancelled, but I find it unscrupulous that they are not more transparent about this. I would use another service if possible.
Care.com has recently added a new feature. Now you cannot contact potential care giver at all without them. Now, even if you are a paying customer they will not let you share your phone number and they have it set up so you have to go through a middle man( care.com) they contact the person you are interested in for you and will not let you leave a message but care says they will tell the person that you called. I have to keep playing phone tag and it makes it more difficult. They say they added this for safety but it's really only so they can control things more. I wish there was another company to use
Looking for housekeeper for a client - a shambolic collection of unvetted and inexperienced cleaners appeared, mostly 8 miles plus away which coming through London is a long journey, certainly too long for a daily few hours... that's if anybody even bothered to reply. The auto rebilling is mentioned- in the small print - but there is no other advance warning that it will be taken before it is and the 'customer care' is rude and unhelpful. Absolute waste of money with no valid leads to staff. Avoid like the plague - these people should not even be in business.
They will charge you an ongoing subscription regardless of whether you ever use their service or not. The charges happen every 3 months, so I did not catch the charge until I had been unknowingly charged $300 for a subscription I never approved or used.
After calling customer service, they told me too bad and to read the fine print on their website. I wish I had never ever visited care.com and was a victim of their unethical business practices.
I have read numerous reviews and can tell you that "Sheila Marcelo" is a "Thief". She has founded Care.com and steals "Money" and "Identities" when Passing Judgement by allowing a Disgruntled Client / Employee to determine care.com's Banning of a Person "Without Investigating A Specific Claim". Sheila Marcelo was actually Sued for Neglect over a Death Of A Child and you can search this to corroborate My Claims.
They will Judge and Eliminate your Use of their Site with only a Complaint. No Investigating, No Legal Crime Committed just Heresay. DO NOT USE THIS SITE. You will Regret using this Social Media Outlet and it could come at a Cost to you.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
