I was reached out by a client by care.com wanting me to watch her dog. After two days of communicating via email, care.com sent me a email telling me she is no longer with the service. They let her go with no explation. The woman was still emailing me and i directed her email to care.com. Several more emails came from this person, i am still forwarding them to care.com asking them to call me. Now i have a biogas check from her and still no call from care.com. I have cancelled my services now and in the process of exposing their services nationwide. If anyone else has information as i do reach out to your local law enforcement, tv station and paper. This company is not legit in my eyes
I have signed up twice for this service (shame on me) looking for care, spent weeks trying to find someone. I just paid for a single month in both cases, but as soon as my month was up, I couldn't respond to any of the offers. In both cases, I found someone who quit after one or two sessions, and each time I had paid $39 to care.com for the match up.
Do not use them.
Their website clearly states that if you downgrade your account you will no longer be charged. I am STILL being charged and THEY are making excuses that contradict their own policies.
I believe they publish fake posting to tie you in. Price models are designed for entrapment. Beware. Better asked real friends or your neighbors.
They cheated you on the fee. They then forced you yo upgrade your account to premium, and when you refused, they sent message to your contacts and correspondences at care.com and told them you are not valid.
What a crooked way to mistreat people.
Beware.
They advertised a $57 service for 3 months in total, but they actually charged $45 each month. I request cancellation in the second month, but they refuse to cancel it at the second month.
Do not give them credit card info. They will take your money every month without your authorization.
Had used care.com in Sept. 2016, all ok. In Aug 2017, the site is glitchy, difficult to use and although I paid, could not get phone #s of applicants. Can't find phone # to cancel service. HORRIBLE! DON'T USE! Charge applicants to get my phone number. NO WAY!
I went to care.com to find care for my infant. A day after creating the account i couldnt see nor reply to the messages from prospective sitters. So of course Im desperate and paid $32 for the premium account. The site wont show the phone # and sometimes the messages just disappear or never send. I ended finding through a friend that my city had a fb closed group of sitters. Within hours I found 2 schools and 6 stay at home mom's that watch kiddos for a living for half the price from care.com. Most sitters on the site are not state licensed nor CPR cert but they will charge you $30 an hour. No thank you. Oh and did I mention the site doesnt allow specifying rates other than hourly rates at a minimum of $10/hr. Care.com bye. I cant believe I wasted my time and money.
I have made several accounts and they all get deleted. I had one person respond to me for babysitting. I was supposed to have an interview today but there that goes, out the $#*!ing window because the website decided to delete my account for the 8th time.
I registered before i moved to US to search for childcare. They charged $80. After few days they terminated the membership and refused to provide any explanation. They didnt refund the money back. I am trying to find out how to sue them
I was on Care for years. I always had good luck finding nice homes to work in. I am primarily a chef and companion. I contracted with a family to care for their sister-in-law. I had been praying for a live-in position so I could help someone really in need. When I got into the home, I realized it was a hoarded nightmare, with rats and filth. I had already moved in before I knew the truth. The family had left her in despicable conditions, totally unsafe for a paralyzed individual. They had also taken control of her finances and were trying to declare her incompetent. Her husband had passed away and it was the perfect time to pounce. She was terrified they were going throw her into a nursing home and take her house and money. She begged me to help her, so through her attorney I became guardian after a series of events over several months. After spending months removing thousands of pounds of hoard and remodeling her little house, getting her benefits in place that her in laws didn't bother to do, we are heading toward our one year anniversary. I quit taking a paycheck months ago because I wanted her to have enough money. I am a music teacher, so I teach and have retirement.
Her sister-in-law posted a scathing, slanderous review on my account. It was all because I had helped her block their attempts to toss her away and take her assets. The accusations were scandalous and completely unfounded. I have a stellar reputation in my community and was heartbroken that others might read and think I would ever exploit anyone in anyway.
I could not get this disgusting review deleted. There was no disputing the horrible claims made against me. Care.com does not protect anyone from slander. They just blatantly post false reviews without investigating the validity.
So... after years on this site I had to delete my account so this deliberate character assassination would get no further attention.
Shame on you Care.com!
I finally responded to one of their emails to get premium package at discount. This was a stretch for me being unemployed. I have yet to be able to apply for any job because it says I don't have profile yet on another page I do. Asked for refund and they said I did not meet criteria because I tried to use service. Just signed up for premium two days ago so my request is within the required 30 days. I wish I had looked for reviews before signing up.
I have been employed through care for about a year-and-a-half now and it has done wonders in my life. I was fired from my job when I moved out of my hometown to Missouri. I discovered care.com through the grace of God. I previously was a preschool teacher for 14 years that was hactic and centers did not care about my passion for children. Care.com allowed me to work in different states and get jobs as soon as I arrived in that state. For the most part the families on care are awesome and I keep in contact with most of them. I have 25 ratings five stars through the childcare portion of it. Care.com has been a life saver to me. Many changes throughout the time of me using the site but I just adjust and keep applying to clients. However now they are really forcing this premium membership thing and it is not allowing me to apply to certain jobs nor not is it allowing clients to reach a great and passionate childcare providers such as myself. However what God has for me is for me! I have never paid for anything on care but made lots of money from that site. (I was always told as a youth to not pay for a job) This is why I am writing a review because it has been good to me! I can pick up a job anywhere I travel! AND I WORK FOR JESUS CHRIST SO I AM A BLESSING TO PEOPLE WHEN I COME INTO THEIR LIFES! Thanks CARE.COM
I wish I had come to this site and read some of the reviews before getting enticed by a "special" discount on their one-year premium membership.
Profiles do not seem to be real; no response to inquiries.
Realized after the first week that it was a scam and tried to get a refund; was told they have a "no refund" policy... Offered to allow them to deduct the full, regular 1-month rate and refund the balance... No deal.
Bottom line... Find yourself a reputable business and stay far away from care.com.
I didn't get job offers but did get many requests from Care.com to pay more for my ad to get more hits but it would have been more than I wanted to pay monthly. Also, when I looked, there were about 800 caregivers in my immediate area.
I joined care.com to find positions for pet sitting/dog walking to supplement my income as I had recently become unemployed. Every offer I got was from the same person (just changed the name) offering me to walk their dog for 25 an hour along with some other duties. The person "recently relocating to the area" and was offering to send me a check for 3k for items for the pets and for me to deposit that in my account and then take $500 for my first weeks pay. YEAH OKAY, LET ME GET RIGHT ON THAT. I got many of these same offers with no legit offers. I contacted care on numerous occasions to refund my membership and have not heard back.
They do a terrible job of vetting. I would not use them for anything. I only paid $20 but it is the principle of the matter. I would not use care for anything.
I just joined care.com last friday and purchased a one month membership of 32$. On tuesday, when I tried to connect on my account, it said that something went wrong. So I called their customer service and they told me that they have deleted my account and that their policy enables them to give me an explanation. I asked for a full refund as I did not even have time to use my membership. They told me they couldn't give me a refund, the girl on the phone also refused to transfer me over to her manager. I posted multiple comments on their facebook page, they deleted them all. I have file a complaint with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for fraud.
I found various types of jobs for several years on this website. The background and rating system working well for me. I got emails stating I needed to give permission to people to view my background check and I did. I applied to lots of jobs I didn't get just like everybody else but I found enough work.
The phone numbers don't show as a precaution. I still get scam texts years later about phony jobs.
I'm having less luck trying to find help on the site now. My ad has garnered a total of 3 responses. All 3 sent generic responses that didn't address my ad at all. When questioned, the candidates even admitted they didn't read the ad or just didn't respond when asked. I wouldn't let someone that irresponsible in my house.According to the site there are over 500 candidates in my area....
They reserve the right to delete your account for any reason. I was supposedly sent "numerous" emails regarding the closure of my account. I still to this day have not seen a single email. My account was closed as I did not have the chance to "contest" the closure and I am not able to get an account again. This comes after 2 years of wonderful service, out of the blue. Not only did I receive SCAM texts and emails almost once a day but I rarely found it possible to reach somebody on the phone about this issue! They have some serious security flaws and I wouldn't put my information on there for anything.
Answer: Hello, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they are currently investigating Care.com. This is important enough to me that they have scammed me out of 6 months of payments and I had to close my credit card for Fraud. If you have had a bad experience with Care.com, I would encourage you to file a complaint with BBB. If enough people complain, then they will take more serious action. Here is the website. It is a short process to submit a complaint. https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started
Answer: Steer clear from Care.com or what we prefer to call Care-aless. Com! They are only about profit for them. The site is for trollers that prey on innocent families. You'd be better off putting an ad in your local newspaper. Most local newspapers also have online readership too!
Answer: I am determined to shut this site down. I am contacting news programs, The Today Show, Good Morning America and any and all others. Shut them down!
Answer: This is so sad! I have been on both sides as I have an assisted living home in Pensacola Florida. I used care.com to staff my home; awful. Then when I had myself on as a provider they suspended me for a 14 year old non viloent misdemeanor, and they did not even have my permission to check past 7. They want you to get crappy providers, the good ones are kicked off because once ya get a good one, you no longer need them. Cash cow corrupt company who makes rules up as they go along, I heard 20/20 is doing a special. I plan to contact them, as I am verifiably the best care coordinator hands down, extremely good with direct care. You will only ever be returned 1 month contact the Federal Trade Commission file a complaint that's what I did, the more problems the better the case against care, com
Answer: I would be cautious. I hope she is not moving for the job, as that is NOT a good idea. I get text messages daily from people asking me to email them (often for a friend), or someone coming from out of town or whatever. I delete these right away. First of all, they should go through the regular website and email you. No one would hire anyone without first meeting them, checking references, etc. I am sitting at the home of someone I took with through the Care site. I first communicated via email, then set up a face to face and met the kids. If it seems too good to be true, it is. USE COMMON SENSE! Seriously, if you don't have common sense you really shouldn't be taking care of kids, pets or anyone else!
Answer: Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they have a big money backer and can screw people of their money and lack of customer service? They should be called, I don't care.com
Answer: If I were you I'd choose another site. Care.com is terrible.
Answer: Some of the clients are looking for cheap labor through the internet for housekeeping. I usually tell the person to call me back for interview finish. Then I would tell them that I am self-employed and they would need to file a 1099 for taxes to IRS.
Answer: Care.com is set up for parents that pay for the service... Parents can enroll for free and place and add. However, If they do not forward their credit card any messages from caregivers will have a blocked phone number. The babysitter cam also enroll for free and make a profile for her services. However if she does nor forward her credit card she can only apply to 8 jobs every 28 days and only the ads from parents that have paid for an account will be able to contact her. DO NOT respond to anyone contacting you on your phone that did not contact through Care.com first... This is always a scam... The message will look like this: I am moving to your area soon and need car for my son/daughter. Kindly respond to my email.(They are looking to scam you for money.)
Answer: Sitter city.com could help you. I have honestly had nothing but problems with care.com. They make up rules as they decide not how things are written and do not follow their own privacy policy. They feed on single moms and dads. As well as children providing for aging parents You can place an add on Craigslist as well, for free and your prospective employee provides their own background check as it can be a most recent one and obtained by themselves at 5 to 10 dollars
