Unreliable people on here who all want paid "under the table" in cash at a Registered Nurses hourly rate to babysit. Hired a 20 something year old on a Thursday and then asked her a question on the care.com messaging system about coming in 1 hour earlier her first day on Monday and was surprised to find out she found a different nanny position but didn't bother to tell me! Left me hanging and scrambling to find care for my 2 babies last minute! And lots of older caregivers who want paid under the table and don't want you to report your child care expenses to the IRS so you can get your well deserved Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. I spend over 10,000 per year on childcare! I need to report that on my taxes! They would rather YOU pay the taxes on the dollars you pay them than for them to pay taxes! Total deadbeats who don't want a real job b/c then they would have to pay taxes. Reported this finding to care.com which their terms and conditions state that you must comply with federal tax laws and they just didn't care. Should be called "Idon'tcare.com". Save your money and look elsewhere.

Worst Experience
September 21, 2018

Care.com is a scam! They advertise on the baby first channel on cable claiming to have qualified nannies and babysitters who have been background checked. They don't mention that you need to pay an additional fee in addition to what you have to pay for membership to get some sort of background check. In addition the few people that have responded to my full time nanny ad are either full time students who don't have very much time to do anything but simple babysitting or are already gainfully employed persons who forgot to take their resumes off of the website once they found work. In hind sight I wish I hadn't wasted my time nor my money on care.com!
I will be filing an official complaint against care.com with the Better Business Bureau!

Bullcrap
September 21, 2018

The site setup is crap, paying to see responses is a ploy, and $20 a month is way too much. Just signing up was a hassle as it asked for the same info several times. They send so many emails it's spam. Job posts are vague and some offer payment that's less than minimum wage. How does that even make sense? If you're paying $20/month just for the website why would you agree to less than min. Wage an hour? Ridiculous.

DO NOT USE this service. After paying for premium service and being charged for a second time, my account was terminated. I cannot get an answer as to why. I assume it is for not engaging in the service. But, I am a single parent to two children under the age of five. I have a full time job, a part-time job, and I am a graduate student. Life happened, I got busy, and was not able to follow up with childcare applicants. Care.com will not allow me to create a new account, will not refund my payments, has no phone number to contact customer support only an email and mailing address. There is also no way to file complaints. Don't waste your time and money!

Recently signed up for care.com which apparently connects people who are looking to hire cat sitters/dog sitters/housekeepers. Despite my having 30+ years experience owning cats and dogs, having references from previous employers who have trusted me with the care of their animals, having 20+ years experience in retail management, I did not even get 1 employer (applied for 100+ positions) who was even remotely interested in even conducting an interview or asking me a question. But I guess I could have TRIPLED my chances of getting a response if I paid their monthly fees. And, Oh, I'm very sorry. I've been a little deceptive here. I did get one response. And after sending my CV to the gentleman, I received an email from Care informing me his profile was pulled from their website and they hoped I did not send in my CV as this gentleman was a scam artist. Fantastic.

Little bit of background: I've used care.com since it started, as a caregiver for kids with special needs. I've paid for the background checks and all of that. But now they are wanting a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION to be able to use their site?!?! This is absolute crap and sad money making tactics in my opinion. Needless to say, I will NOT be use their website anymore. They can shove their monthly subscription bs where the sun doesn't shine.

They have a very "legally" convoluted and misguiding way of explaining charges for a membership to hire caregivers and even though I signed up for the most limited time period could, I was being billed by Care.com recurrently after using their service for pet-care just once. I looked it up online in another scam search and found a lot of people have been ripped off for years in this way. Be sure to check your credit card bill carefully every month!

There is no help phone #. They don't answer my emails.
When I saw I had to PAY for an employer to respond to my application (how is this even optional'? They can't contact the potential employee unless both sides pay) I paid for a month.
I've sent 100 messages/applications that I got every criteria for (25 years experience), often I'm the first applicant- and I have NOT ONE REDPONSE. Not even a query, so yes- I am wondering if they are being received.
Do they have to pay for each message read? There is no way to tell if they are getting the application. And no one at Care to call or email. What does the check mark next to the messages mean? There's no help.

I've been on this site a very long time. I'm a paying member but not one person has responded to the numerous messages I've sent even when they've shown interested in my profile!
I wonder if messages actually get through!

They had me so excited when I signed up and saw so many jobs in my area. What they DON'T tell you is that you have to pay to see the responses from your applications! This is such a SCAM! If i am looking for a job, then obviously I need money so who is gonna pay to find a job?!

There are tons of people advertising jobs, but the vast majority of them, probably 80% or more, will not be able to look at applications because they are not premium members. The site allows this, presumably, so that people looking for jobs will be inspired to pay the premium fee to enable them to send messages to all these wonderful job posters. What they don't Realize is that they have very little chance of getting a job. It also looks to me like this site itself is creating bogus job posts. Take a look at a lot of the tutoring jobs. They have way too little information. If you were actually looking for a tutor to help your kid, would you really just post "family looking for part-time tutor for math"? Seriously, this could be anything from kindergarten number readiness to AP calculus. If you really are looking for a tutor, you're going to be a little more specific. If your goal is simply to increase the number of postings on the site, however, you would probably just be click click clicking these automated options.

Received email today from Gretchen, stating that they were downgrading my subscription to a "FREE" one. This after I clearly requested a closure of my account.
The best part of Gretchen's email was that they are issuing a refund of $27.30 for the two months and 2 days remaining in the three (3) month subscription of $58.50. Fuzzy math? You betcha.

If your want to waste your time and money, go ahead and post an ad with this outfit.'
If not, here are a few facts: 1) the free membership is a joke - you cannot talk to any applicant until you upgrade to a premium membership, which is quite expensive given the poor results. 2) The website is a complete nightmare. 3) They have no interest either in the families or the caregivers. 4) if they screw-up they expect you to pay for their mistake. In my case one of the team members who promised to "freshen or refresh" my posted ad, instead edited it in such a way that it made me go ballistic when I read it. To add insult to injury, shortly after my phone chat with the team member, I received an e mail titled "Your Job is Closed - Did You Hire?".
When I asked the team members, by email and by phone the next day, to either reinstate the correct ad or issue a full refund, I was told by the team member on the phone (Kenth) that they could not restore my ad; however, after consultation with a supervisor, Kenth said they would make an exception and charge me for one month and give me a refund for two month; In dollars and cents, they would charge me $29.25 and would give me a refund of $29.25 based on my payment of $58.50. Conclusion, do you really want to do business with these characters?

IAM really disgusted

This company is a rip-off, save your money and go elsewhere. They require an upfront $150+ subscription fee to use basic services. We were never able to hire anyone from the site, since the information was often unverified and inaccurate. Since I could not hire anyone, I asked for refund of our subscription having never been able to use services, they refused! Save your money. Care.com is a rip-off.

HORRIBLE
August 20, 2018

Care.com is the worst online company I've ever used. Hired someone who ended up stealing from me. Used care.com again to look for two job offerings (one for a sitter and one for a housekeeper) and I have apparently been banned from care.com for unknown reasons. Called and spoke with Ken (who is apparently overseas and doesn't have a way to contact a supervisor since they're in the US) and told me the reason was listed in the email, which it wasn't. When I asked to speak with a supervisor I was told the request would be submitted but that it isn't guaranteed a supervisor would contact me back since it isn't part of their policy. UNPROFESSIONAL. But why I'm really upset is that I have yet to receive my $60 back for membership and I've also been informed that the reasoning as to terminating my membership was sent to anyone who has contacted me about my job postings (yet I am unaware of why), which is a disgrace and slander to my business

Recently I found out a child care worker was back working in North Georgia after a child was injured in her care and had to go the hospital. She was found neglecting a child in her care in which the parents nanny cam showed her hitting him in the head. She also did not watch a small child who could have gotten out and been killed on a main road. She was found to have been on her phone and left the child unattended to get in the road. She hit this child repeatably in the head and screamed over and over. This Person just legally changed their name from Missi Lehmann to Missi Romo. She should never been reinstated with the care.com site under a false name/ name change. She is going to be out there hurting and neglecting children once again. Care.com should screen the pictures and ban prior nannies. She is allowed to work again under another alias name. Beware of Missi Reynolds Missi Lehmann-Now Missi Romo!
