Been ordering from Breck's for years. I am a very experienced gardener. This year ALL the tulips contracted a bad virus. I just planted the Dahlia's I had ordered. Do hope they grow well as the tubers look terrible with just a very small bother plant attached. I have grown dahlias from Breck's for years but something major has changed. I absolutely would NOT recommend this store to anyone, especially until I see if the terrible appearing Dahlias actually grow and produce. They quality plummeted to the bottom and the prices through the clouds. My "refund" for the tulips is just store credit. I will continue to ask for refund for poor products, hoping sooner or later I wll be sent something worthy of my time and their price.
I made the mistake of ordering over $200 worth of tulip and amaryllis bulbs from Breck's. Out of 100 tulip bulbs, about 20 were small and shriveled and five had to be discarded because of obvious disease. Many of the very expensive Amaryllis were under the promised 24-26 cm. Size and when they bloomed, I discovered that three were not the even variety I ordered. When I tried to return the under-sized bulbs I was told that Breck's does not refund money, even if they failed to meet their own specifications.
We ordered 20 Amaryllis Kits that were incomplete. They were missing the "disks) that were stipulated as important to establish the planting of the bulbs. There was no notice as to why this seemingly essential part of the order was not included. No help from customer service.
I bought a fairly large order of spring bulbs. After placing my order I received notification that my bulbs would be shipped near the end of October. I live in Calgary. We're often under two feet of snow by then. I contacted Brecks and was told that's when they would receive them from the supplier and there wasn't anything that could be done to expedite my order.
I watched as the most beautiful September passed by, followed by three weeks of lovely October. My bulbs finally arrived just in time for the weather to change. Calgary is now, indeed, under feet of snow and we have only one quarter of our bulbs planted.
What a colossal waste of money. I will never order another thing from Brecks.
This is the second time and THE LAST ONE I order from them.
1st order placed in April, would be partially received in October. Received an email a week before delivery date saying that 50% of my order was out of stock and discontinued... Six months after my order!
In the meantime, in June, I placed another order supposed to be delivered early to mid October. I waited until November. Called customer service today, after a LONG waiting time, I was told that the "delivery will be pushed to Mid-November, insisted for a date and the delivery slipped to early December" Really...
I have to wait another TOO LONG time to get my money back, money they have had since June! The refund will need 30 days to be processed!
Never order from this company.
I ordered specific rhizomes and all were labeled as my order. When a few have bloomed they were not what I ordered but something I wasn't happy with. You never know until they finally bloom so you're pretty much stuck with what they gave you. I was gifted some all labeled with a variety that came up something different so not a one off. So unhappy because iris are my favorite flower.
I was so happy to find a flower bed already designed for me. Something was to bloom all season. Unfortunately out of all the bulbs and roots we planted I have one plant growing. My daughter commented today that we planted alot of things for it to look so bare.
I ordered from Brecks in March, was told items would come in May, then June. When I called customer service the middle of May, I was told that items would be 'rushed' and arrive by June 1. It is now June 11 and no order. Looked up the order and it has been pushed back yet again. Also ordered shade plants in March-arrived in April. When they arrived, 1/3 of the plants had come loose in the packaging and were damaged. Definitely will NOT order from Brecks again.
Ordered 2 dahlia tubers from. Brecks because they had a variety competitors did not offer. (Competitors offer 5 tubers for same price) Received (2) tubers that had all bulbs broken off. Never order from brecks again

I placed an order for $110 worth of products in late January 2021 -- 2 types of dahlias (2 per pack@$25); a phlox ($20), bee balm (3 plants per pack@ $15) and Lillies (3 bulbs for $20). As of Fall 2021, only the three lily bulbs had grown. The dahlias, phlox and bee balm never grew. So I essentially paid $37 per lily! Brecks generously refunded me $30. I do not how this company stays in business.
I ordered 4 different perennials from a Brecks BOGO advertisement. Not only were the plants tiny but the second one of each of them was so small I had to wash the roots of the main plants to find them. I planted all of the poor little things with little hope that any will survive. I also ordered Hellebores for a friend in January. They still have not arrived. Very disappointing.
I've used them a few times with mixed results,. Delays are a common occurrence and while customer service is friendly, spring planting is best done in spring, not summerr...I've had enough and will avoid future disappointment by avoiding Brecks in the future.
I wish I had read the reviews prior to using Breck's. I can echo nearly all of the one-star reviews listed. Only a small fraction of the plants I originally ordered grew. They allowed me a partial refund in the form of product credit. I didn't really want anything they had to offer but used the credit... then I had to pay $10 shipping for the replacements! Park Seed replaced a plant immediately and sent it to me. I'll use Park Seed again, but NEVER BRECK'S.
My first time using Breck's I placed orders in March for April shipping. The initial available shipping date was April 10 to the 15th. They keep moving this date forward. It is now the 16th and my order hasn't shipped yet. Contacted Customer service and it was my worst experience ever! Im just about ready to cancel my orders and give up on these guys. I would not recommend these guys, Oh, by the way, they already charged my credit card BEFORE my items shipped. That is also not right!
This is the second time I have ordered from Brecks and the service was as poor as the first time. Two months after ordering plants for my wife for Mothers day, they are still not here. Repeat of the first time. I called several times and got the same run around. Finally I got 9sick of it and demanded my money back and after a week of waiting, it finally showed up. I will never order from them again This is a very poor company and I advise that you DO NOT do business with them.
I ordered about $150 worth of Dahlia bulbs in winter of 2021, they arrived very late in the planting season and were very poor quality. We planted them and only about three of them grew and bloomed and were very underwhelming. I contacted Brecks and they issued a credit for the next planting season. I ordered again this year. I emailed for a refund around the end of May as I did not have them yet. They were willing to issue the refund. With a day or two they arrived. Same situation, they were awful quality. An Agapanthus bulb I ordered, could not even be found in the bag of dust they sent, I contacted them around the and said this is ridiculous and to issue my refund. They said to plant the bulbs and if they did not come up, they would issue a credit. It is now July and only one bulb has grown. I know it is not me as Dahlia bulbs that I bought from Home Depot are flourishing in my garden and look beautiful. DO NOT BUY FROM BRECKS!
I ordered (separately) 2 Cala Lillie's and 1 I See Stars Siberian Iris. The iris was a BOGO but I only received 1. None of these plants (actually bulbs and roots) ever grew. Breck's gave me a partial refund instead of replacing the items, which just means I have to spend more money which I will not do. Do not use Breck's.
I spent over $1500 and planted everything as recommended using their food. 95% didn't come up and the rest are so feeble it's ridiculous. Complete waste of money. Caveat emptor
Do not purchase from this company…ever. The coordination in email material is contrary to the ones emailed before; and then again come the apologies and corrections…. And more apologies. CRAZY AND UNNECESSARY STRESS…. Better to buy local; and have far-far less hassle and enjoy the delightful non- stressful garden( If necessary I can show proof by emails.)
I ordered Lily of the Valley through Brecks. I have wanted to have these in my life forever now. Finally ordered them and painstakingly followed their directions only to have them all die. SO DISAPPOINTED. I would consider another venue for your bulbs.
Answer: They never sent any product that I order for fall. Canceled my order after cashing my check. Still waiting for the refund. So no becks products to show off here. Only a un happy customer
