Bikes Direct offers quality and affordable bikes that get you way more bang for your buck than at your local bike shop. I needed a new commuter bike and bought a Motobecane Vent Noir from Bikes Direct and it's been a very good experience... I got a very smooth riding, beautiful bike that has a carbon fork and Tiagra/105, at a time when you pretty much have to spend at least a grand to get anything other than Sora from Trek, Specialized and all the other top brands. I got good Ritchey stem/handlebars/seat post same as on my carbon race bike. Nice Vuelta wheels and nice tires. The seat is a bit mushy but fairly standard for bike in this price range. Handlebars came with an extra spacer and a longer stem so I could raise it beyond the factory setting. This bike even came with SPD pedals, for an additional savings from not having to purchase separately. The bike came quickly and was very well packaged. No damage whatsoever even though the box took a beating... how much you'd have to shell out to get a comparable bike from Trek and other companies. And I can vouch they are right having owned or ridden said Treks, Specialized, Giants or high-end Schwinns. I endorse this store and experience completely. I bought my new Motobecane Strada Express 24 bicycle at Bikes Direct and I am very happy with the purchase, it was worth every cent of it! I'm not a professional bike rider, so I needed something comfy, simple, and suitable for commuter roads. This bike suits me perfectly! The only slightly negative remark I would like to make about Bikes Direct is that their website is quite outdated and not very comfortable to use. It simply doesn't feel like a user-friendly website, and the information you need is quite hard to find :) But I guess that pays off with the quality of service they provide! Thank you!

A faulty tire caused the tube to explode 30 minutes into my kid's ride. They don't provide a warranty.
Do not use bikesdirect.com - my kid could have been seriously hurt. It could be you or your kid next time.

This is my second bike I got from Bikes Direct. Inside the box was some hidden damage (the derailleur hanger bracket got bent in shipping. I write an email to them over the weekend and before 8 AM on a Monday morning Larry@ BikesDirect already has a part coming my way. I was so blown away they fixed this problem so fast! I want to give Larry a big shout out and thanks man for making my day.

I bought a titanium road bike nearly 10 years ago for an amazing price and I still love the bike. Bike descriptions are thorough and accurate. My bike arrived reasonably quickly with zero damage and requiring minimal final assembly and adjustment. I would buy from them again.

I have purchased 3 bikes from BikesDirect so far and am a big fan. You can order competition-grade setups at entry-level prices.
Ironically, the bikes are so great that my first two got stolen, they do look great to both the untrained eye and to those who know what each of the components is worth. The components are significantly above what you'd get at regular bike stores. I tend to have the bikes professionally assembled, but it's not really necessary - doing it yourself takes less than half an hour as all the complex parts are already pre-assembled out of the box.
My most recent purchase was a Gravity FSX Monster Eagle - what an amazing bike! Each time I ride it, I get approached by biking enthusiasts who want to know more about the bike.
Great bikes, fantastic experience. Definitely a go-to place for anyone looking for quality bikes at reasonable prices.

Cycled around nice trails across Southern Ontario. So satisfied with my bike. Lots of trails that I did not know of in the GTA and was able to see thanks to Bike Direct

My review is for those of you not especially skilled in bike mechanics. The problem I found is a lack of integrity in advertising, about the investment needed for getting your bike ready to ride after delivery. Secondly, sales communications were okay, but service recovery emails were poor, some very poor - and some showing cockiness, disrespect, and lack of listening.

About the integrity issues (Dec 2021): Prominent on the homepage of bikesdirect, you'll see "85% of customers assemble their own bikes. See how easy." Easy assembly was promoted on instructional videos and pamphlets as well. So I assembled my bike properly, without much difficulty. Assembly wasn't enough though! If you really want to ride your bike in good condition, you'll see that these boxed bikes need more-involved break adjustments, gear adjustments, tire straightening, and more. Unless you are skilled at these things, you will pay additionally at a shop.

I typically do not write reviews, but I have been biking for over 40 years, and wanted to give some kudos to Bikes Direct.

I had purchased a bike from them 15 years back. Was unsure of buying a bike over the internet, but figured I would give it a shot. (Lived in NYC and back in the day, if you got 2 years out of a bike before it was stolen, you did well.)

I found that the bike was as good as any I purchased at a name brand store (back then, trek was my "go to".) The important thing I learned is that the components were typically a year or so from "cutting edge" but that was perfect for me as a grinder/commuter bike to work. (and made the bike actually affordable). I don't road race, I would do the five-borough bike tour, commute to work every day, and some other things, so having the latest components is generally a joke and 99.5 percent of bikers don't need them.

To wrap this up, I had to buy another bike since i moved out to a suburban area and commutes will be much longer. I felt comfortable ordering from bikes direct, but then again, it had been 15 years, lol. Long story short, the bike was a great deal (lots for the money) the bike was delivered quickly and was a snap to put together.

Very happy I have the bike and very happy bike direct is still as good as it was 15 years ago.

Very similar experience to what others have reported: ordered a bike. The bike came in damaged (dents and peeled paint) but usable. Larry didn't apologize, just sent me $20 (severe cosmetic damage to a $2000 bike). Assembly instructions and the Shimano plastic tool to connect the e-bike controller were missing. Larry didn't apologize, just sent me a link to the main Shimano website. Crankshaft had defect (confirmed by professional bike techs at my shop) and needed replacement. Larry didn't apologize, just asserted that the pedals had been mounted incorrectly in the face of evidence presented by the bike techs. Parts were missing so it was not possible to assemble the kickstand. Larry didn't apologize, he just said to go out and buy some screws at a hardware shop (which wouldn't work anyway because the part was specific to the component and required custom ordering). Literally the worst web retail experience I've ever had and Larry didn't care. Nor did he agree to accept a return of the bike despite the website policy.

Just wanted to say thanks to the folks at BikesDirect company and for their excellent customer service and excellent product! Shipping is very fast. Eric in support was super responsive and tracked down the small parts I needed. So, I highly advice it.

I just wanted to say that I am extremely pleased with the level of outstanding customer service you have provided me!

As you may recall, I had inquired about the possibility of purchasing two new tires for my Gravity Fat Bike. You informed me that Bikesdirect does not routinely keep such large items in stock. However, you had taken the time to check and discovered that your facility did indeed have the two tires that I wanted.

I received the box a few weeks ago, but did not open it until this afternoon. At the bike shop I had gone to in regards to replacing and installing the new tires, they informed me that there were two items of interest inside the box.

I assure you, I sincerely appreciate your extra effort in locating the two replacement tires. I was also pleasantly surprised that you had placed a tool kit and flask inside the box!

My husband and I have bought six bikes with Bikes Direct now and have been pleased with everyone. We have gotten 2 commuter bikes, 2 road bikes, 1 mountain bike, and 1 gravel bike (yes we are obsessed with biking). Every bike has been in great condition and I have put about 10k+ miles on my carbon road bike (Motobecane Gigi Pro) and it has held up like a dream. We will continue to buy bikes from Bikes Direct because you can't beat the high quality bikes and affordable price.

Additionally, I've been very pleased with the service especially from Larry. I wanted to change my seat on my gravel bike to the one that came with my road bike because I liked the way it fit so I emailed their customer service email and Larry fixed me up!

Highly recommend getting a bike from Bikes Direct! You do have minimal assembly it when it comes in but that's a great opportunity to learn how your bike works but if you don't feel comfortable with it, any bike shop can help you put it together.

I recently ordered a bike from Bikes Direct. It was received on September 17. Within a few days during assembly it was determined that the fork was not the correct size. It was for a larger bike. I have called a number and goes to voicemail and made 4 email requesting assistance. Their site is great for ordering but awful for getting service. Everything leads back to emailing where you are assured a quick response. No response in 12 days and multiple attempts. I want to send the bike back and can't get clear instructions on the website. Again another email to use. I would not give them a 1 star.
My grandson does not have the bike he wanted for his birthday!

Could not believe how fast I received my bike after I ordered it. Had a factory defect that the local bike shop easily repaired. Bikesdirect made me whole and I am completely satisfied.

Bought bike from bikesdirect.com frame was defective we agree on a $200 credit on a new more expensive bike. Ordered and paid in full in March. They never shipped the bike. B. D. Made made up stores about why it did not shipped but stated it would ship in April(It was a web page error.) More stories, then May (It is covid-19 fault), then June (it is the shipping company fault.), then July (it is the ports fault), then August ( we have the bike but it is Paypals fault) They show the bike for sale on their website as ships now but they refuse to ship me the bike. Called and called and then called so more, they never answer their phone (any of the numbers!) Email after email, they claim they sent a partial refund. (I am still waiting for it.) I told them I wanted my bike and the CEO stated he was going to have it sent to me after right away. (send a text to my employee right now). Days later, employee, I need to make a new invoice. I never received an new invoice. They claim that it is Paypals fault. (Paypal was supposed to end it and if they didn't there is nothing they can do.) I stated I would be happy to just give them my credit card info again or just order the bike as listed on their website. They refused. So in the end. I paid for two bike. I now have zero bikes to ride. All the other bikes I could have bought month ago are now sold out. I wish I never ordered anything for bikesdirect.com
If you are even thinking of order a bike from them, try calling them first! See how that works out for you.
Also, ask your self this. If you order a bike from them you will see a charge from paypal not bikesdirect.com Why would a bike company like Bikesdirect.com use and pay paypal.
I know it is super hard to find any type of bike right now, but I would not recommend dealing with this company!

Ordered the new eagle boost 4months ago
Bike is paid for already and havent got any positive feedback on my bike. Nothing but negative feedback and more delivery delays than a closed for good business. I would not recommend ordering anything from this. Umm business unless you want to be taken for a ride and not on a bike
