BikesDirect has garnered a mixed reputation among customers, with several positive reviews highlighting the affordability and quality of their bikes, often perceived as better value compared to branded options. However, significant concerns arise regarding product quality inconsistencies, such as rusting components and assembly issues. Customer service frequently receives criticism for being unresponsive or unhelpful, particularly in handling returns and warranty claims. Overall, while some customers appreciate the cost-effectiveness and product performance, many express frustration with the lack of support and quality assurance, suggesting a need for improved service and quality control measures.

Finally, my brand new and much expected bike has arrived. The process of delivery is so quick and convenient. Received in good condition and very well packaged. At a very reasonable cost, I got this bike. I'm so satisfied with this purchase. All Thanks to BikesDirect.
Was a bit skeptical at first took awhile to understand Only when you've sat with real anaIysts with years of trad! I've got a lot of crypto in my possession, but a dip has never been my problem, dips as this just merely provides avenue to acquire more trad! Ng equity, trad! Ng definitely ticks the dot. Trad! Harika işçilik harika hizmet ve olduk ca sağlam. Gezmeyi sevenlere yollarda rahat ettirecek derecede.
I purchased and Gravity FX2 bike. It came in the box and the assembly was pretty straight forward, as I have extensive experience assembling bikes. The generic videos BikesDirect send you are useless, so don't count on those. After proper assembly, when riding the bike, the front derailer could not be adjusted, and still rubbed and or would not shift properly even after several frustrating hours of adjustments. Again, I have proper tools and experience and this is clearly a defective part. I contacted customer service, only option is email and this should be a big red flag, and of course all I got was a generic email reminding me how much money I saved and that I should watch the useless videos that they recommend and or pay a shop $50-100 dollars for installation. This generic and impersonal email only aggravated me and clearly shows their poor customer service. Emailed them back and expressed my disappointment as well as ask for options and no response. It's understandable that a component can be damaged, the real issue is their clear lack of customer service.
Bikesdirect help me switch my order so as to get bikes for Christmas as my first choice were delayed in shipment. I then had question re assembly and met Larry on line. Larry and I became good friends through our back and forth. He was excellent help always. I highly recommend both bikesdirect.com and Larry!
I have bought 6 bikes from Bikes Direct in the past 3 months. They are as good as big box stores, only you pay a lot less! These bikes come mostly built, but you will need to install a few parts and you may need to adjust a derailleur, nothing major. Their customer support team is also great. They once took care of me when an ebike motor controller shell was cracked in shipment, and they quickly sent me a replacement. Another time, I had an issue with a tire. Which may had been my fault.
Larry from the Warranty department took care of me. He got me Maxxis Ikon tires at their dealer cost (a steal) and sent me a really nice bonus gift! I cannot say enough good things about this company. Do not hesitate to buy from them. Don't just take my word for it, feel free to also check other reviews here and on YouTube. You will find almost all reviews are positive!
I needed a bike in a hurry and they delivered - couldn't ask for more - thank you! Hopefull the bike lasts a very long time
Placed my order 6/22/2020 finally cancelled on November 1st, kept getting this generic email from the CEO about the delays and that's only because I emailed so many times requesting updates... got my specialized the same day from MikesBikes
We bought 3 bikes from BD in 2020, 2 EMTB and 1 hardtail. One bike was scraped due to FedEx shipping. A came bolt came loose and was missing from a ride and Larry sourced the part and sending a replacement. The bikes are great with very highend components for much lower than a used much older bikes on Craigslist. Recommended to all my friends and family and will purchase more from BD in the future.
Excellent customer service (thanks Larry!), and an incredible value considering the bike I purchased. It arrived on time, and *almost* perfect. A derailleur hanger was somehow bent (can't even begin to understand how), so I sent pics of the bent part to Bikesdirect.com customer service team. Larry had one in the mail early the next morning, and then contacted me to let me know it had been shipped (I had already been informed by the carrier).
I would give 5-stars, but had an issue with their shipper of choice, FedEx, who bungled the first delivery attempt after I waited around all day for it. FedEx is notorious for this, as well as poor customer service, but after a lot of effort, I spoke to a FedEx agent who was able to help ensure delivery the very next day.
Despite the "FedEx Hijinx", I would still recommend Bikesdirect.com to friends & family. Their customer service is SUPERB, and the communicate without being asked to do so. They seem to really care about the customer's experience, and I find tremendous value in that.
I ordered my in-stock bike and received it less than 4 business days.
Box was not damaged by FedEx. For less than $250.00, I am so happy with this purchase. The welds and paint were great. Components were as described. Pedals are too small for me but easily replaceable.
Simple to put togeter and adjust. If you've never put one together go to youtube watch some videos. So easy to do. The whole process was so much easier than you think.
Bike fits and rides great. Will definitely order one for my wife.
Are Motobecane good bikes? Yes and no…
I bought a Motobecane HAL5 2018 from BikesDirect… 2 years after, I damaged one of the suspension linkages trying to replace a bearing that got stuck… When I went to the BikesDirect website I realized that there are no phone numbers, no names, nothing… Only an automated phone number for sales. So, the only way to reach "customer service" is through an email… When you write it takes 24 to 48 hours to get an answer… I just wanted a part number to buy from them. But it turns out that they don't have spare parts for their own bikes! A bike that is just 2 years old. At the beginning I thought they were out of stock but in reality they don't have spare parts like any other bike brand… They do have wheels and other few generic components but they don't have specific frame replacement parts. So, I tried to reach Motobecane USA website where they don't have contact information such as phones or email. They'll try to make you believe BikesDirect is only a distributor but it turns to be the same business… After 3 emails with BikesDirect "customer service" (Larry) and questioning why they don't have replacement parts for bikes less than 2 years old, they stop answering my emails…In a nutshell, while their bikes are decent but outdated (geometry/components) they basically don't have replacement parts, no contact phones and a careless email customer service… That's why I don't recommend to buy from BikesDirect… Better get another brand where you can get parts and at least a phone for customer service… Don't take my word for granted… Just check their website.
Great purchase experience. When I ordered my new MTB it was delivered within 5 or 6 days. It was well packaged and arrived in new condition. Assembly was a breeze and after a little tuning I was up and riding.
After a pedal shattered on a Sunday morning ride, I sent an e-mail with photo's to Customer service. The next morning I had a reply from Larry, and a new set of pedals were already on the way. No questions, no third degree, it was just taken care of.
I will not hesitate to recommend Bikesdirect.com to family and friends.
Great buying experience.
Bikes Direct is legit! I ride hard and had some complications with my CF frame. In this Pandemic and with all the bike shortages. LARRY! My savior, shipped a new setup in no time! I was back riding in as long as it took to ship. I packed up my bike and sent it back no charge. And Larry sent me a new boxed up bike! No need to by a bike that cost you an arm and a leg when you can buy a bike for half the price that rips just as hard as my buddies Scott or Yeti. Bikes Direct and LARRY ARE FOR REAL!
Outstanding company! I found their website when searching for mountain bikes. I bought their Motobecane >>> http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/mountain_bikes/300ht-mountain-bikes.htm
The bike was delivered in 4 business days from Texas to San Francisco. Bike came with no blemishes, pretty much already built, no frustrations, no used parts, no disappointments and NO Unhappiness...
I had a couple of questions about the pedals. I contacted Larry. He replied within 24 hours and answered my queries. Excellent Normally Expected Experience plus the price was very reasonable considering the quality Shimano parts that came with the bike.
Thank Larry and Bikes Direct! Referrals will be forthcoming...

I received my brand new 2021 full suspension Motobecane E Bike. It arrived with a missing part. Front hydraulic brake caliper adapter. It is a no brainer you cannot install the front disc brake with out it. After contacting support I was reminded about the good low price i got the bike for and in other words the money i saved can pay for the missing part. Then to add insult to injury i was told that the bike did not need the adapter that the caliper wit bolt to the shock leg with out it. I mean this guy by the name of Larry says at the time he taking your money if there is any problems before you take it to a shop or buy parts let him try to make things right first. I tried got blown off then lied to not trying to make anything right. BEWARE Buy at your own risk because your on your own with all the money you saved and can afford to pay for the missing parts and will not get any customer service.
Its a nice bike, however it says, compare to $1200 trek bikes... So, they sent with resin pedals on a bike for a person 6 Foot tall, *aka* a heavy person, one broke on the 2nd ride, the boy fell off and got hurt a little bit yet not bad, but its just that the pedal snapped in 2 days from only standing on it and riding on the pavement. It says professional bike on the listing or something like that. I do not think any pro rider would be happy with this bike, as it says competition ready in the claim also. The bike itself is nice, but its not a $1200 valu. The $429 dollar bike price is more like compared to a 500 dollar bike in reality. The support is sending us more plastic based pedals and I would have told them to just keep them. I just cant trust more plastic based pedals now after this. I read many nice reviews about the company, I just do not think this set up was really all what they claim. It should say compare to a 750 dollar bike maybe and thats pushing it. He likes the bike, I just don't understand the weak azz pedals they send under a compare to a $1200 bike claim. The shifters are ok, but again, they are really not comparable to a trek or giant at $1200, I am just being honest. The brakes are ok, but the schwinn from walmart had much better brakes for much less money. *we had to return due to the plastic parts inside the tube/fork area. It was a fine bike besides that. I think the bike direct bike is very nice though its just not all the high end components you would think it would be per the claim.
Got my bike with in two weeks. Great price. It takes a few days for them to get back to you have you purchase the bike but I think that's just because of Covid. Once they get back you the bike comes in like 5 days. Real quick. Would definitely recommend them
I received my bike from Bikes Direct last week. The bike arrived Via FedEx Ground, with the box having incurred some damage during shipping. The bike was in great shape, with the exception of a minor chip on the downtube of the frame. I contacted customer service with photos via E-Mail regarding this problem.
Larry from Bikes Direct responded immediately to my inquiry in regard to the problem and explained that the chip was only cosmetic. Compared to other companies' customer service practices, Bikes Direct customer service was prompt and professional.
I now have an awesome, new bike purchased at a great price. I look forward to riding it for years to come. Thanks Bikes Direct for a great product and to Larry for the exceptional customer service!
Answer: I would recommend that you think about a hybrid bike first, as the tires are larger & the 26 inch wheels are a bit stronger. Also, you will be more comfortable riding on an upright position. If you like it, use it to loose weight while saving for a decent road bike.
Answer: Hi - the bike depends upon the type of riding you want to do and what you want out of riding. Do you want comfort? Durability? Speed? More upright riding position? Definitely want to look at bikes with larger tires as they would be more comfortable. The CycleCross type bikes are fast but have a bit larger tires for more durability and comfort than a skinny tire road bike. Check out the OmniStrada which have knobbier and larger tires than the regular cross bikes. They also have top tech tubeless compatible rims which you can easily convert with sealant and kit to being virtually flat free :) Check them out: http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/cross_bikes.htm
Answer: No. The bike should come ready to ride.
Answer: I ordered after hours on Wednesday night, recived confirmation of payment via PayPal instantly. Email receipt received Friday morning.
