The way to really scam people and keep that scam going is to provide lip service to complaints and "appear" to want to resolve complaints.
You can go for a LONG time by simply saying "oh, have you tried this?"
The TRUTH is Bark.com is a scam of mammoth proportions.
The supply of quality leads is limited, the demand of businesses for new leads is infinite... the two don't match.
They make great promises of a "free" set of credits if you don't get any business from your initial purpose... they KNOW you won't, nor will you from the "free" replacement lot, then you're done. You'll get a curt message saying, "Buy some more"... and I'm betting naive people probably give it a second shot and fail again.
The leads that they send you are "full" (5 others have already submitted a response) immediately you receive the email... possibly they are not genuine at all, because the leads that are not "full" are weak or unsuitable and don't match the filter you apply anyway.
When you complain you get trite, patronizing "advice" with an overriding insinuation it's your fault for not presenting a good enough "pitch"... HOGWASH! I've won open national tenders, and have 40+years of sales and sales management epxericn3...
But it is cleverly done so that bark.com "appears" "above-the-board".
Whatever you do, DO NOT FALL for the BARK OFFER... it is a waste of money, definitely, but also a significant waste of time

Paying $25 for a lead which is not even in the stage of making a decision is not worth the money.
Most of the leads are exploring their options and waiting for the quotes from other 3 service providers which tells you that they are selling the same lead to others.

During my attempts to seek assistance and resolve issues, I encountered multiple instances of rudeness, unfriendliness, and an overall lack of professionalism. I have maintained a profile on Bark.com since at least a year before the pandemic, so I am not holding that as a factor. I'm not even holding the ratio of used credits to completed/paid projects (though it is almost laughably low). The statistic, for me, that really sinks the site is the ratio of paid leads to even getting a return response from the lead. In my experience that has been lower than 1 return response for every 5-8 paid leads. I don't know how to describe it other than poor lead quality.
I realize that I am in a highly competitive field (photography) and I am doing my best to not bemoan my results as sour grapes. I have taken pains to respond to leads where I have a lengthy track record and extensive professional experience. I offer competitively low rates. I respond with carefully worded email responses with samples of my work. Yet I have observed that fewer than 20% of paid leads even bother to respond.
I have complained about this before to Bark.com. Their leads do not result in enough responses, let alone paid completed projects, to justify the cost for this form of marketing. I was even one of their 'Elite Pros' for a year of this time and actually found no change in response rate. I do not have any specific suggestions for Bark to improve the vetting of their leads, but that is solely where my complaint lies.
To be fair, I have completed some satisfying projects from Bark.com leads, but I would honestly say that dollar-for-dollar the sum total of the cost of leads might actually exceed the total revenue of generated.

Answer: Bark may or may not be legit, but their barks are very often bogus tire kickers or scammers. They've got a lot of work to do to clean up their act. They need to go straight membership and those needing the work done need to PAY to speak to a professional instead of the professional paying to speak to the bogus tire kicker.
Answer: Your reviews are high on Trustpilot because they remove all the negative reviews from their profile. Bark.com removed my review twice. Trustpilot is the only review website that allows businesses to remove reviews for a price. Trustpilot got criticized in several news articles for being easily manipulated of their 'Reviews' for $600 any business profile can push up or down review they want. Look up 'Trustpilot news articles'; they say 'Trustpilot reviews are just paid advertising'
Answer: I don't think so. They signed me up and sent me a free "lead" I never got a reply to. And then I paid for one credits lead and that didn't get a reply. I then noticed both emails where from the UK. I am a plumber in Canada, but the lead specifically said it was for work in my hometown. Refund policy in place but didn't refund the credits. Not even credited to my account. They also automatically have all my reviews from Yelp, HomeStars etc. that they scraped and posted on their website.

Answer: Very true. Misleading leads. No lead vetting. Just Bark saying leads have been verified. But how do we know when no lead responds. They seem fake to me. Bad experience and worst leading platform.

Answer: The 1 star reviews are real. All the other 5 stars are not. This website preys on desperate businesses that require work and signs them up with a cost. First, they searched deep on the internet as my business has NEVER heard of them before their Spam-my email. They send an email stating that I have a lead on their website that I NEVER signed up on. Then ask for money to see who this lead is. To keep their site running, they say to people who are looking for particular businesses that they have them when they don't.
Answer: £1.20 per credit for a starter pack, then £1.50 after that and unqualified leads with next to no information cost between 10 and 18 credits. 10 leads will cost over £200 and doubtful will generate any work
Answer: It's because the positive customer reviews are almost certainly fake. Look at the dates. Look at the volume of reviews. Approximately 100 positive customer reviews of Bark have appeared on Sitejabber between early December 2019 and today (late January 2020). Compared to the number of reviews they received prior to December 2019, that is just an astounding number of reviews. This is not normal.
