I am private, paid $100 for top ad, my car is lowest price #60 of #62. You sort from cheapest first and mine appears last. I am going to CNN with this Autotrader site. I inquiry and all they want is more money. All I want is a refund. You'd think CEO's would see this type of note, but it's some lower employee who does not have the authority to make a small issue go away. DON'T USE THIS SITE! It is heavily towards dealers and their needs, propaganda, etc.
This is not a good company and that is why I will not support them. I dedicated years to Autotrader. When they closed our office, corporate treated us with unfairness and took away our severance and pension in my office. They don't deserve even 1 star.
Don't waste your time on Autotrader! They suck money out of your pocket and all you get in return is scammers and 3rd party companies trying to charge you more to sell your vehicle. Not one call in 2 weeks, put on a local free site and sold it in 1 day. I would skip...
I paid $75 to "sell" my car on autotrader.com. The car was listed for 2 months and did not receive one call or email. I was worried and was thinking of selling it to the dealer direct option that they have for thousands less. As a last resort i put the car up on craigslist. On one Monday i got 7 contacts and 2 people making offers. I am now worried that i may have put the price too low :) I called autotrader to tell them about this and they told me i was out of luck. Said the only way i could get my money back was to sell my car to one of their dealers. No results and no refund! I asked them if they could at least send the refund to craigslist as they are the ones helping me sell my car. She laughed. At least we got a good laugh. That about all i got!
I recently tried selling my car via Autotrader and did NOT read the fine print. I was okay with the $49 listing fee, but they also take a percentage of the sale price. That being said, I did not receive any inquiries from my listing. After listing my vehicle with them, I put my vehicle on Facebook Market Place and my phone blew up with inquiries. I sold it through FBM within 24 hours for listing price to an auto dealership. My advice is do not waste your time with Auto Trader. BTW, they will reach out for more money to boost your chance of selling it within a day or two. I was so unimpressed with this company.
Don't use Autotrader if your a buyer or a seller. There are so many scammers on this site that genuine sellers would find it hard to sell their vehicles. The scammers on this site are prolific. There are more on here than genuine sellers now. If the price is too good and the body shape in the picture doesn't match the year it's saying it is don't bother! If you enquire and you get an email from a female in the military who won the car in a divorce don't reply.
I listed my car for sale on auto trader more than two weeks ago and all I received were fraudulent buyer messages. People offering to send a cashiers check then their driver to pick up the car (LOL) or people insisting that you communicate with them through their email or (not even local) phone numbers. Oh! I also had one dealership message me and make me an offer of $13,000 dollars LESS than my listing! My car is practically brand new with only 5,000 miles on it. I did my research on pricing it in the market. But, how nice of that dealership to offer me the convenience of not dealing with scammers and being able to just drive in an and out of their dealership with a check. A check for more than a third of what my car is worth. Listing my car for sale with Auto Trader was more of a nuisance (dealing with bogus messages) and a complete waste of time and money.
I called them directly and politely requested a refund due to the nuisance of fraudulent messages and lack of real interested buyers. They were only able to offer me a $10 credit. I had them delete the ad and issue me the credit. I wouldn't deal with Auto Trader again.
Had two chat inquiries after paying $50 for the posting. In the same amount of time, Craigslist and eBay had tens of leads. Ended up selling via craigslist which is the cheapest of the lot. Autotrader should return money if they cannot provide leads.
I was advertising 20 cars for 2 months, and i just receive one real call from a customer looking for a car, and a lot of calls from scammer, i paid more than $1,000.00, and now they have me in collection for $150.00, try to be away of this worst place for advertising.
They allow dealers to post listing of cars that are already sold and not available with ridiculous low prices just to get you to call and tell you the vehicle has been sold already. They also allow dealers to list cars that are certified that are too old to be certified some even 14 years old. I emailed them about this and never got a response. They will do anything for these dealer scammers for a buck
What a waste of time. I got an online offer for my car and went to their local dealer to complete the deal and they offered me 1/4 of what the online offer was. I was insulted. I did not misrepresent the car.
I will make sure everyone I know hears about autotrader and Ben Davis chevy and what a scam this deal turned out to be.
Appalling Treatment and Deceptive Practices at Toyota of Richardson.
My recent encounter with them was an exercise in manipulation and deceit.
The negotiation process, lasted an excruciating seven hours. To be clear, I made an mistake by not prepping for this, also was not planning to buy a car that day. Also this was my first experience in walking in to the dealership. But the The pressure tactics deployed were not only but left me questioning the morality of those involved at Toyota of Richardson
The used vehicle I purchased was priced so outrageously that it's hard to believe anyone at Toyota of Richardson has heard of fairness. Transparency? Forget about it. Soon I realized the price of the 2021 used car was that of a new 2024 vehicle!
The financial strain caused by their greed is something I wouldn't wish on any consumer. It's impossible as a student to get approved for financing with my current income. But somehow David, Syed Ali found a way to stick me with an outrageous monthly payment.
I share this review not out of a desire for revenge but as a public service announcement. If you value your time, money, and sanity, steer clear of Toyota of Richardson. Their shady practices and blatant disregard customers are nothing short of appalling.
I've used Autotrader since it came out in the 70's or 80's but NEVER AGAIN. I searched my year and model and selected from the drop down "relevance" menu, "low to high" as my 4runner was the cheapest one listed on Autotrader. My ad should be the first one right? NOPE it didn't show up, so I searched it again and still nothing. I tried different computers on different days with the same results. For the full run of my ad it wouldn't show up in the way most people who are looking for an inexpensive car, would search. I contacted them for a refund and they gave me a copy paste answer that my ad was live. No sh#t it's live but very hard to find unless you pay extra for their premium ads. Oh and I only received 5 responses in the entire run and 4 were fake inquiries that when I responded they said I had the wrong number. (again, 4runner one of the hottest vehicles in the market) Good luck, I hope your results are better than mine!
Do not buy from autotrader. It's a scam. Seller told me a story about military deployment and must have the car sold in three days. I googled their reviews because I felt uncomfortable paying outright without seeing the car and saw reviews warning me that the exact same story of military deployment and car delivery to house had scammed people.
Following is message I just sent them:
I will dispute with my credit card company any payment to you.
Just went on to check my listing and found it wasn't there!
Never was.
Checked and received this email September 26 "Order Confirmation Thank you for advertising on AutoTrader.com.Ad runYour ad will run until: September 25,2012".
No wonder I haven't gotten any calls. Very crooked!
My truck buying experience was exceptional! My salesman Brian Law was very professional and made it easy! He was straight forward. No games! I would highly recommend Brian Law and Heritage Buick/GMC in Rome Ga.

Don't waste you time getting an online quote for your vehicle, from Auto Trader. It's a bait and switch scam the dealerships run with Auto Trader. I've seen several other reviewers with the same experiance.
I received a quote, called the dealership (Southwest Kia in Rockwall) and was assured it was a solid cash offer. My description of the vehicle was very accurate. The dealership came up with a list of minor cosmetic issues (I could have fixed them myself for less than $200) and told me their offer was $3500 less than the online quote. What a scam!
If you feel like spending a long long time looking for a vehicle and having the website change your filters seconds after you set them, this is the place! Its the slowest most frustrating site to search for a vehicle! Its SUCKS!
After I signed up and paid my $50 fee I was suppose to get 9 photos... I added only 7 and was going to add two more the next day. Then my ad dropped to only 3 photos and wanted to charge me for added photos... When I called and asked for a refund they would not refund my $50. The add only ran 1 day... Autotrader is unfair to say the least...
This site is great for shopping for a new car. Selling a car leaves a little to be desired. The extras and add-ons they offer are not worth the extra money with a listing. Found the basic listing to be more than sufficient. When shopping for a car however, this site is great.
