I have a decent amount of audio books there. Their selection was pretty good. They occasionally offer freebies which are actually great. Their books are somewhat expensive, but their membership seems quite affordable.
Audible has charged my credit card for a service I never signed up for nor did I ever use. They charged 5 months of different charges and the only way they could have gotten my credit card info is from Amazon. Like others my credit card had an expired date but somehow they are able to keep charging. My bank has filed fraud charges against audible to get my money back. Because of audible I have had to cancel my credit card and I have deleted my other card Amazon has on file. From reading other sites this has been going on for years and they are still in business. Seems Amazon doesn't care about its customers or they would have done something about this a long time ago.
If you don't cancel after your free trial they're gladly fraud you out of cash. Writing this to prevent others from being taken advantage of. They know exactly what they're doing. Conmen. Scamsters. Hope they're put down soon
I've been an audible platinum customer for 8 years.
I received notice today at 2:26pm, that it will be terminating support of the Audible application for iOS 6 the following day.
Ok, fine. It has every right to do so. But, REALLY... if Audible.com cared about customer service. It would give people more notice. At least a month in advance so they can make other arrangements.
I give Audible.com a very BAD rating for customer service..
I have never ever used this service and this company continued to charge me a membership fee for a service i never used... i caught onto it when i did my annual finance review and i found out they have been charging me for about 6 months now. I called them and threatened a law suit against them for stealing from me and they were real quick to cancel my subscription and refund all my money... its like they've had this issue before. Don't use this company at all they are a bunch of thieving liars.
So because I don't watch my charges on my card I never realized that I've been paying for this service for 7 months.: after I canceled! They will charge any card on your amazon account to keep the membership going and if you don't notice too bad so sad. Do NOT even sign up for a trial!
How the hell does Jeff Bezos allow Amazon to be associated with these thieves in plain sight? I only got as far as my email address and postcode before I smelled danger and exited the site, but then they somehow got my card details through Amazon and tried to steal from my account.- Fortunately, the security at the bank was on the ball- credit to Nationwide U. K. and smelt fraud and stopped my card and the transaction. I suggest all people conned by this company write to the Washington Post.
Took 30 day free trial but decided not to take offer. But Audible started taking a monthly membership out of my account. Unable to cancel. Big problem was that Audible kept telling me I was not a member. After trying for ages decided to call Amazon as this is part of their company. They answered right away and told me I was a member but only in the USA not Canada. So I had somehow got a free trial from the USA with an Audible app from Canada on my tablet. Amazon passed me on to Audible USA that cancelled my subscription and gave me a full refund.
Problem solved.
I don't even have an amazon account- I happen to sometimes use my brothers. And they took it upon themselves to charge me totally different sex/gender and name and billing address for his oops. Like what the heck? It's añl a pyramid scheme they'll deny but it's theft- only the account holders card should be used not other peoples. Do that anywhere else and it's theft but because it's amazon it's fine. Pyramid scheme- been using eBay more and more.
After purchasing audible, I realized I wasn't using it on a regular basis and put a hold (or so I thought) on my membership. Due to this now my credits will expire! Isn't it like purchasing a gift card? Even spoke with a manager there John K who advised me (as a not so young person and not entirely not used to hearing books) that I was out of luck. Apparently its all in there term and conditions. A complete rip off.
I'm pretty tech savvy but trying to actually hear my purchases was a fail! Yes I only have one account the webpage shows me my purchase but the app when directed to (which is also logged into the same email address etc WONT acknowledge my purchases! Stick to your local library folks and keep your $$$
I began with the Free Trial, same as most. Got me a free Audio Book (I think... my memory is not so good due to head injury from the war) and also did purchase a few here and there. When the Trial Period was up, the one thing that caught my eye and made me feel good about continuing my membership was that they said members get 1 Free Credit per month to use on anything you wanted. After 3 months I had still not received a single Free Credit and said Ill wait one more month. Came and went with no credit. So I discontinued my membership and thank god I was able to keep the books I had purchased. It may be trivial to some, but during a time when COVID has kept people stuck at home, gas is $6 a gallon, etc... a free book is nice to have.
I signed up for the "free trial" trusting that the company would be reputable since Amazon links up and it is enforced so heavily. Right away, I had issue with the fact that I had a $1.81 charge on my account when there shouldn't have been anything, then not even an hour later another $1.81 charge. That was enough to make me cancel. There was no reason to charge my account anything at all, let alone twice in an hour. Hopefully they really did cancel my account.
Awful customer service. I have not been able to log into my account for months. I am being redirected to Amazon where no one is helping or responding for that matter either. The point is, I purchased a service with Audible which I have not been able to access just because I changed my phone number and cannot log into the Amazon account? Sounds like a mess and a total disregard for the customer who is unable to use the service. I cannot even unsubscribe! Is this even legal I ask...
I was enticed by the 1 free credit when you sign up. I got my audio book and enjoyed it. After the month, I got charged for a membership. No biggie, I'll take the blame for not reading the fine print on that one. I cancelled the subscription and thought that was that.
2 Months later, I find more charges, that cost MORE even after I've cancelled. The problem? They autosubscribed me to both audible.com & audible.ca and double charged me (in USD and CAD). So when I originally cancelled, I had a whole other. Com account that I was completely unaware of. What a scam. Now I'll have to try and get my money back.
I never signed up for a free trial and I never gave anyone my credit card info (I would never do that for a trial period anyway). I only discovered that they were charging me 15 bucks a month for the last 13 months when I accidentally signed onto Amazon of Canada instead of the the American Amazon. A of C did not have my credit card info on the account that was created in my name so Amazon of America must have shared my CC info with them based on my email address. I never visited the A of C website and didn't even know it existed. Took me 2 days but everything was refunded. No answer as to how Audible got my credit card #. My guess is someone was signing email addresses up for the sales commissions. I am not done looking into this
James rollins changed narrators in his sigma series books. If you have a good narrator stay with them. I found the Eye Of God so bad in narration that I returned it to audible. I brought this to Mr. Rollins attention and he said that he had no control over who read his books. If that is true why does Scott Brick read ALL of Clive Cussler's books? Bring back Peter Jay Fernandez
They said my 12 year old daughter used her email account to get a trial order. Refused to cancel even after told them she was a minor without capacity to contract. Had to finally cancel my credit card after hours on the phone with them. Didn't realize they were part of Amazon. They just went in an placed unauthorized orders on other cards on Amazon. They really showed me. I canceled all the cards on Amazon just to keep them from more fraudulent charges.
I have been a member of Audible for a while. First joined them after heading a promo about a trial they provided - 2 Audio books for free with no obligations and or charges to your account. I got the book I wanted and had no problem canceling my subscription before the trial period was over. Few months later I found out about a promotion of theirs that allowed you to subscribe for a month and get a $15 coupon for free. I did that - and when I get the coupon I picked some good books ( the site has many excellent titles) - paid a bit extra, but found out that they had changed their policy and instead of clinking a link to cancel your subscription one was supposed to call them. However when I called them they were very polite and I had no problems canceling my subscription. Currently I am checking for another promotions they may have which I could take advantage of.
They monitor how many books you can return. I've been a member for over 7 years & I have to call them to return books & some they say are too old, so where is the guarantee? I'm thinking of canceling my membership. There are too many free audio books out there to keep giving them my monthly membership fee.
Answer: I've had the same problem, they charge me from the US AND Australia so I can't even cancel cos no access to these sites. If you manage to contact them, they should refund you
Answer: Not not a clue but they refunded me all the money back they took out my back so alls good
