They directly bill your account through Amazon and fight like a pitbull to keep you from cancelling. The number to cancel is *******051. I had to tell the guy 3 times to cancel it and he wouldn't do it unless i just kept repeating my request to cancel.
They said I must have ordered it by accident. No, I didn't.
Hey Amazon this is bad for your brand.
Somehow you get signed up thru Amazon and Audible starts charging you $14.95 a month. Amazon is culpable in this scam, maybe I said I'd try a free book, but never did, and certainly never gave Audible my credit card number, but AMAZON gave it to them. Must have been some very fine print when I said I'd like to try a FREE ebook. I did call and get a supervisor on line and she promptly refunded my money, 5 months of charges totally like $89. I cancelled my account. Hope the refund comes thru. I am going to contact AMAZON because i am furious at them too.
Over and over audible charges my credit card for an audible book when all I have ordered is an ebook from Amazon. I call and email and eventually receive a refund. Am I wrong or isn't that credit card fraud? I have notified Amazon but, obviously, nothing has been done
I used to love Audible - a couple of clicks and I could start listening. But a few months ago nothing worked and after wasting literally days googling for answers and trying to sort it myself I ended up paying a computer shop $120 to fix iTunes so I could get my audiobooks. Next, a couple of weeks ago I spend hours of my time, then an hour on 'chat' with an Audible tech to get my books to actually play. Now more trouble. Today I bought a new audiobook and it won't transfer from Download Manager to iTunes. I've deleted and downloaded again in both formats, tried every settings adjustment suggested on the Audible help page and nothing works. Deciding that life is too short to spend time going round in the same frustrating useless circles, I gave up and tried to return the book but I'm told I can't and have to contact a customer person. I am so angry that Audible have turned a quick and easy process into a total nightmare.
I had a membership paying them 14.95 a month. I wasn't using my credits so I asked to stop automatic payments. I was told if I stopped I would lose all outstanding credits if I stopped the auto account although I could keep what u had already paid by paying ten dollars a year. Why don't they deduct that from all the money I have already paid them. Beware these people and their scam.
I called audible to counsel my account. They suggested I stay on with the company and agreed to give me a 3 month hold to spend the credits that were cumulating. Determined not to get slapped another $15 charge, I put the date in my calendar. A month to soon, I was charged again. Somebody has their dates mixed up and they would not budge. I now have another credit and a month to spend them or I will get charged again. I feel robbed.
Also very hard to use. You must put books in wish list then go to the web not the app to buy the book. Crazy.
Here is my story:
I subscribed for a one-month free trial. I downloaded the app into my cellphone. However, latter on I could not find much use out of it. So, decided to cancel the service. And, here comes the drama. There was no option to cancel it out of the app. Ha they very tricky to make other's ducky.
Anyway, I after a lot of research and spending hours (of course getting too much irritated and claustrophobic), finally, I was able to find a clue in my Amazon account to raise a complain. I wrote them 2 times, even it did not work. Complain goes round and round and my money goes and goes out of my pocket. Such a rip off.
I had to stop and review. Audible offers a lot, they don't deserve to be lied on. I've enjoyed Audible for years there's lots of cool romances and memoirs, their interface is wonderous, you get a free audiobook of your choice during the trial offer. Just end your subscription in a month if you don't like it or don't want to pay. I've done it plenty of times. They're like this huge company, they don't charge you if you don't want to stay with it. It's really cool to listen to Audible in the car, exercising, doing housework, long computer sessions. I recommend staying to buy at least 3 audiobooks. Everyone should have 3.
This is the worst program i have ever used for audio books. If you choose to cancel your membership with them they say you will lose the credits for audio books you have purchased already. So even though i paid Audible the money for my credits i will lose them if i cancel... I expected better out of amazon. Love prime HATE this.
So I got a new chip card and did not get around to updating my info (I run 2 businesses and always very short on personal time) with Audible. They sent me an email or two but being behind in listening to my Audio books I did not rush to update it, After all I had FIVE credits (like $90 worth) that I had paid for so I figured I was good for a long while. Well guess what! When they cancel your account they also cancel your paid credits! You have to have an active credit card on file to use the credits you have already paid for! I think that is flat out customer FRAUD!
Wow... $20+ for audiobooks? That seems like a lot for a non physical copy of some writing. And wow they even have a service to connect your audiobook with a digital text but wait you have to freaking buy another copy of the book? So dumb. Not worth it
You get a free trial membership with one audiobook which worked perfectly. Then, when I started being charged I picked another book and I could never get it to work. I tried contacting them and they never responded. Very disappointing!
I was lured in with the promise of one free audiobook if i made an account on their website. I never gave them ANY authority to use my credit card details from amazon. Turns out they have been charging me monthly, I received monthly credits which i ignored because i was NEVER advised audible had subscriptions, I thought you purchase and that's it. Absolute scam, only now cancelled as I saw it on my statement.
I worked with a producer to create an audiobook of a book I had written. We arranged for Audible to sell it. A couple of days later, we noted an error--it was entirely our fault, but easily fixed at our end. I told Audible we had a new version--but they have refused to replace the old version. It's not about money, or work, they say.
To be fair, they are very polite, but insist they have "procedures" and refuse to accept our new version until there is a high-level review that could take days or weeks. This is ridiculous. It didn't take this long for the initial listing--why does a replacement take weeks? Very disappointed.
Because i have not had a subscription for 4 years, Audible can't reset my phone number and i have now lost access to my account and all the content that i paid a lot of money for. They know i have paid them, and wont give my credits to buy the books again.
I joined Audible when I could not find the audiobook that my wife suggested to me. I took a 30 days trial offer and it turned out alright. Unfortunately, the book that I was looking for was boring so I exchange it for one I liked better (That was easy).
I was bothering the live chat customer service because I found out that I could not search for specific phrases in specific categories (ex. Podcasts only) they were polite and responded in a friendly manner.
By the end of the free trial, I received an email with notification for the end of my trial. I decided to continue my subscription. In my opinion, it is worth it even if not every single thing on Audible is perfect.
I received a gift card as a gift and was still charged my monthly fee. I let it slid cause "oh it was after my bill date my bad." Wrong. They charged me again. This time I called. They told me that the gift card was only for new members. If I wanted to redeem my gift card I would have to cancel my account and then resign up. I tried to explain how crazy this sounds and I was spoken to like an idiot for not understanding why I would have to cancel an account in order to redeem the gift. They will probably still charge me for next month.
I got suckered into a subscription on this through some free trial from amazon, after which the "delete my account" button vanished. At first I was using it, and enjoying the books, so I thought it wasn't such a big deal, only then I didn't buy any new ones for a while. It was maddening to find out when I logged back in that the "credits" you get each month for the monthly charge expire when you hit six--so even though I was billed each month for over a year, I have only six months worth of credits. At least now the delete your account button is back so I didn't have to spend hours on the phone with customer service, but I did have to use all the credits before I got rid of my account, because they steal your remaining credits if you cancel your account with credits left. Total bull****.
I just called Audible twice to return some books. It took 15 minutes to go through the first time and after I told Sean, the operator, that I wanted to return some books the conversation was suddenly terminated! The second call with Ken ended up in not returning any books because he told me that I can not return books with the account that I have! I have been buying and returning books for years with Audible! Am simply disgusted.
Firstly, I DIDN'T order Audible! (I like reading rint myself. They apologised. I accepted their apology)
Secondly, my refund hasn't arrived! (Even after 2 weeks)
I think the Attorney General needs to investigate this company (grr)!
