Worse Carrier Yet
August 11, 2025

I had ordered a SIM Card from them, and when it got to me, it did not work properly. So I tried to call four to five times; the first time, they said they would send a new SIM Card within three days. Then on the following Monday, I had to call a second time to see where it was. Just have to order a new one. Which they said would take 7-10 Business Days. When I tried to call the next three times, trying to speak with a Manager, they hung up twice, then transferred me to another agent, and they hung up again. This Company is BY FAR the worst with service agents and overall quality of people, never use them.

Probably one of the worst companies on the planet. When their phone techs can't even fix the simplest of problems, they disconnect you. If you ask to speak to a supervisor, they tell you the supervisor is coming then that disconnect you.
Now if you're thinking of buying a phone from their sister company, Shopq1, forget about it. They're even worse that Assurance Wireless.
How they remain in business is beyond comprehension!

I had to get a new phone because my old one wasn't holding a charge. Since receiving my Assurance Wireless phone I have had nothing, but headaches. The customer service people are idiots! I was told it was a power outage in New York that would be fixed by 5 pm today. BS! It's now 7; 43 pm and I can't do anything with my phone after having called Assurance Wireless and doing everything to try to resolve the issue. In fact, I am writing this review from a friend's phone.

I am a retiree, 86 years old with a limited income. I applied for California Lifeline through Assurance Wireless and was assured my existing number would be ported in to my new phone. I called their *******880 number as soon as the SIM card was activated in my new phone to provide them with the information about my old carrier and phone number. I was told the process would take 24-48 hours and that I would receive a text message. That never happened. I followed up with numerous phone calls and spoke with Danny, in the Philippines, Ren, Mike, Tony and Sam over the course of ten days. Each one assured me that my requested had been escalated and my new phone number would be active within 24-48 hours. I have asked to speak to a supervisor and been told there is no supervisor.
I have asked to speak to a supervisor and been told there is no supervisor. It's obvious this is a shell company set up for the sole purpose of collecting government funds for a subsidized program and they have no interest in providing even routine customer service.
I'm filing a complaint with the California Public Utilities Commission, for whatever good it might do.

HORRIBLE COMPANY
February 2, 2025

Trying to get a wireless phone for a friend. Have had to apply multiple times with an online application and a paper application. Each time they say the same canned message about how they have my back and they'll handle it. NOT! This has been going on since November 16th. STILL NO PHONE! How do people in need get through their mess? No phone means no paycheck. You need one to function and get a job! It's seriously a sad situation.

Data scam
February 1, 2025

I click on one Google search it's 200 mg. Then I shut it off and in morning there saying 500 to 700 mg. Used and have found my mobile data back on when I know my data was off. Scam. We're going elsewhere ripoff. And on life line you get 5gb within a few days it's gone and you have only done maybe a half hour total of searches. Bs

I used to be a Lifeline user when there was no other choice. Disgusting vultures that would steal data that I needed for my JOB, so I was ecstatic when I learned about Assurance Wireless. The service used to be better all around; including the ability to get a 21st century phone.
Now AssWireless has merged with Lifeline; data has gone from unlimited to 4.5 per month; which of course AssLine immediately began stealing. Every time data usage went under 2 GB; LifeLine would claim that all of the allotted data had been used. Now that they're a monopoly with no accountability or competition; they're back to their old tricks. It's so useless now that I'm going to have to change jobs.

Assurance wireless is the worst cellular service provider on a planet as far as they're offshore customer service. I've made hundreds of phone calls to insurance wireless customer service most of the time I've spent it on hold just to get disconnected after waiting from 30 to 60 minutes.

Horrible customer service
September 7, 2024

I contacted assurance the beginning on August for a replacement phone because mines was stolen. My phone was returned back to me the same day, so I gave them a call back to cancel my order. Now here it is September 7 and they block my IMEI number and I can not use my phone. I called them several time and they all singing the same song you have to wait 3-5 business day really $#*!s. I asked to speak to a supervisor he had no answer either. I asked them for corporate number I was told they have no corporate office 😂. Once my phone get back to working I will be dropping this useless sh**. Yes I am pissed off and I would not recommend this service to my dog.

This is supposed to be a free service for needy people who qualify for the Lifeline program.
They instead use their service to try to extract as much money from their customers as possible.
They disable the "Wi-Fi Calling" feature of your phone so that your 1000 minutes get spent before your month is over. Then they force you to buy minutes for a minimum of $10/mo for unlimited minutes.
THEY ARE BASICALLY SCAMMERS!
I switched to Access Wireless because you can use the "Wi-Fi Calling" feature, which saves countless minutes per month. I expect not to have to pay at all for this free service, which is how it's supposed to work!

I have a schok phone that will not charge. I've tried many different chargers including the one that came with it. Nothing works. Assurance wireless won't help. First they said my warranty expired. Then they said that I supposedly have a one year warranty through schok. Here's the interesting part schok say that they don't work with assurance wireless. After many discussions i have decided to go somewhere else because assurance wireless sucks.

Waste of Time
August 8, 2024

I get that you're getting a free phone.

I signed up thinking this would be a good hold over until I can pay my phone bill. Received my phone yesterday, followed the directions to set it up. Found out that I had no account, no phone number and the sim card wouldn't work. Called to get it fixed, was on the phone for 20 minutes with them not listening to how to spell my legal name, then get transferred being told that it would be 24 hrs before my phone will work. It still doesn't work. Just a waste of time.

My application was approved and I wanted to transfer benefits to Assurance Wireless. I tried to sign up for the service last week, 8-4-24. The website said that I was already with Lifeline (Assurance Wireless). I didn't understand it so I called, and the representative as usual didn't understand me. They ask me to register over the phone so I did. The representative said to me today that I was already a customer. I said I've never been a customer with Assurance wireless. The rep said I know because I don't have you in here as a customer. I said can I transfer from Safelink, a benefit transfer? She didn't understand me and then said she would have to ask her Supervisor about me being in there system as a customer but I'm not. The Supervisor told her to tell me to go to another service. I tried to ask the rep why can't I sign up for service with them and may I speak to a Supervisor? The rep said for me to hold on and then hung up on me. That was today 8-8-24. I called back about an hour later and the next representative wouldn't allow me to sign up with them either over the phone. My question to her was if it says I'm a customer and I'm not, can you de enroll me or cancel what is in there so I can start over? She didn't understand me either and basically told me to go to another service, she would give me the site to go to. I've never has such a hard way to go trying to get something that is being offered. I've never had it were I can't speak to someone in the USA that I can understand and they can understand me. I'm giving this warning to anyone that is going to have to deal with them so if you are on head medication, have it close by after you finish talking with them. I'm going to get mine now to stop my head throbbing!

The android phone I received had a charging port that broke. They sent me another phone with NO SIM CARD. I tried to call customer service, and the phone said NO NETWORK CONNECTION! They're impossible to connect to online. I was told that my data from the old phone could be transferred, but I CAN'T EVEN CONTACT THEM! None of their "survey" questions has anything to do with the problem being resolved, if you can even contact their customer "service"!

I have been with Assurance Wireless for several years. At first, I liked it, but then the service started making me pay more and more for a new phone (if the one I had was broken or lost), and I was really getting tired of trying to get help and talking to people I could barely understand. This last time, when I was told I needed to return a phone that I'd lost, and when I asked for a supervisor I got an answer akin to, "Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to find one." I hung up and started looking for another phone service carrier.

They send seniors BROKEN USED CELL PHONES. Their phones set in the warehouse and they send you 4-5 phone which were all broken and calls were dropping everyday. Unable to talk on them as well. They use to be Virgin Mobil and were good than all hell broke loose. Free is not good sometimes.

WORSE SERVICE EVER!
April 20, 2024

WORST SERVICE EVER! And what's worse, your supervisors LIE! Called because there was an issue my mother's phone and a supervisor assured me that he escalated the issue to the engineering department and that someone was supposed to contact me within 48 hours. This is after already calling for 2 weeks straight trying to get help. Well NO ONE ever called me after 4 days. So when I called back, another supervisor said that the previous supervisor never even put in a ticket order to have someone from engineering to contact me. So the first supervisor LIED! Then this current supervisor had the nerve to say my mother's account was suspended for non-activity for 30 days. Well, of course it's been inactive…because no one from Assurance Wireless has been able to help us for weeks. I have cancelled the account. I wouldn't send a dog to Assurance Wireless. A bunch of incompetent and LYING customer service reps and supervisors. Trash!

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience with Assurance Wireless. I never received the phone that I was supposed to receive. Every time I called to inquire about it, I was given a different excuse as to why it wasn't delivered. First, they claimed they couldn't mail it to my physical address because it couldn't be validated. So, I provided them with my PO Box instead. After waiting 10 days, still no phone. When I called again, they said they couldn't mail it to my PO Box either. Finally, they claimed that the phone had been delivered to the original sender, which is obviously them. This is unacceptable and incredibly frustrating. I am extremely disappointed in their lack of communication and inability to follow through on their promises. I do not recommend Assurance Wireless to anyone based on my experience.

Identity theifs

They have a man in Lorain ohio stealing people's information! I call customer service and ask to speak with someone who would be able to locate who their worker is and this foreigner told me "it's not my worker it's you"! I'm unable to use my credit because the man that signed me up keeps transferring it to other people! He's charging $10 to anyone who is not eligible to receive the free phone! ONLY WAY TO GET THE PHONE WITHOUT BEING ELIGIBLE IS TO USE SOMEONE WHO IS ELIGIBLE!
