Associa sold our building on the far they were a large company with the ability to do so much for us: contacts to arrange repairs, 24 hour service, dedicated website for reporting issues, etc. So far they have failed on all. Requests submitted on-line disappear into a hole, when you followup, you are told you are responsible to show it is a building issues. You call after hours and get the runaround. Building common area repairs take for ever because of delays is finding people to do the work. You get the idea.
I sold a Unit in the Newport Building on October 21,2024. I called management company to cancel my automatic withdrawals for the Maintenace fees on 10/23/2024. In November of 2024 they withdrew the Maintenace fee for November 2024. I called Associa as soon as I noticed this and requested a refund. They told me it would be 60 business days before I would receive
the money which will be 2/10/2025. According To Glenda at Associa that is how long it takes to process the refund. Basically, they are using my money interest free.
I was a part time employee of Associa, working for The Dartmouth Group for 1 year and 10 months. Oct 2022-August 2024. When I was hired, I was asked to commit to stay with them for 1 year. I did commit to work from them for 1 year. They allowed me to have 10 vacation days my first year as I had them planned before starting in the fall. These were 4 hour unpaid days. It was never communicated anywhere verbally, or in writing that they would not continue moving forward. I thought this is what I was receiving in return for making the commitment to them. By August 2024 (2 months away from my 2 year anniversary with the company) I had already taken 7 - 4 hr unpaid days of the 10. When I requested another day off I was told part timers don't get benefits and they had to talk to HR about it. It was decided they would be taken away. They did offer me 5 days, but that was not enough for my commitment to them and the fact they were taking the time away so far into my employment. So, because of this, I was forced to resign as I cannot work for a company with such an unethical business practice. Before my last day, I proposed an alternate schedule, one in which I could have worked with only having 5 days off. One I know would have worked for the property. I was told business need required 5 days. Come to find out they are not filling the position. If they wanted me gone, they should have just laid me off vs. waiting until I asked for another day off, forcing me to resign. It would have looked better for them if they had just laid me off. There should be an option for a 0 star rating.
This company needs to either go away or. Rebuilt from top to bottom. Lack of communications leads the list of inadequacies demonstrated by Associa. They out and out lie about their capabilities and services. Not all, but most, of their employees are unable to perform efficiently. If you have a problem, and attempt to contact your local office, your call is forwarded to an outsourced firm in Texas. If you're lucky, your call will be answered in a half hour or so. When it is answered, don't expect any real
Help, all you get is double talk and excuses! If your community is. Considering Associa as your property management company, please run, don't walk, away!
I have been involved with HOAs and HOA management for over 40 years. Associa New York is the absolute worst management company I have dealt with. They are not interested in providing services to the condominium owners or the maintenance of the facilities. They are only interested in signing up HOAs and providing ancillary services such unit rentals, unit sales, and accounting. The phones are never answered. There is no follow-through. Phone calls are routed to the corporate headquarters in Texas where employees, have never seen the property and who know nothing about the property that is 1,500 miles away. If an HOA cares about its members it will contract with a management company that is local and has staffing that is able to commit to providing service.
Terrible customer service. Agent I spoke with had had a lobotomy. I complained about he non-stop drone of their hold advertisements and she told me to talk to my HOA - about THEIR call center. Management change-out caused billing mess-up and she couldn't supply the information to send an immediate payment. Had to send it in the mail. THE MAIL in 2023. I've always heard bad things about Associa and it's founder, now that I'm subject to them, it's all true.
This company has no idea how to run a property effectively. They have a policy of no phone calls to the acting property manager. This is a complete joke. Our actual property manager lived over an hour away. In what world is that doable?
When the president of the local associa threatens you and is retaliative because you challenged their incompetency. That says it all about this company. I attempted to contact corporate three times and never got a call back or any response. That too is indicative of how they operate
This HOA has absolutely nothing better to do with their time than to have someone creeping around the neighborhood to take pictures of a tuft of grass. We have our lawn mowed weekly. We have receipts of our lawn being mowed weekly. We received a SECOND violation notice for...a tuft of grass. Broken down car in the driveway? Nope. Loud party? Nope. Property in disrepair? Nope. A. Tuft. Of. Grass. Stay away from this HOA. THEY ARE USELESS.
We are in VA and Associa was hired in the fall of 2022. They have given misinformation to owner questions, allowed confidential questions to be seen by the board, and the capping misstep was to use a formula they made up to count votes in a huge assessment issue. There was no admission until they were called out by a homeowner for ignoring the voting method in our bylaws. They claim that it was referred to their legal department and the second vote count was also wrong. Not until the third vote count, when they correctly used the method called for in our bylaws, was an accurate total counted up.
Amy, who is the Association manager for Riverwalk, is the worst customer service person I've ever seen in my life. She's rude, could care less about handling issues, tells people who pay hundreds of dollars a month for services to just move if they don't like it, belittles military and elderly, and is just plain a nasty person. She gives misinformation that causes issues and then acts like she doesn't care after the fact. She must be a miserable human being to act the way she does in her job. Why Associa would tarnish their reputation with someone who makes their company look so badly is beyond me. Wake up Associa. One wrong comment about the elderly to the wrong person and your company will have a suit for her agist remarks. You need people in place who actually are here for the residents. Not someone who sits around acting like she despises even existing.
Mr. Robert Hernandez is a Great Community Manager who professionally managers our property and board members.
Would recommend Associa and Mr. Hernandez highly!
Best Always

As I am singled out, Associa, DRM - Desert Resort Management has allowed (for months) cars to park in fire lanes. Even after emailing pics, address number, Associa can't or doesn't do anything. I have solar panels that passed city inspection (professional company) but DRM / Associa demands them be removed for using wrong footings. Nobody should buy in Sommerset, Palm Desert until the management company is replaced.
I have contacted Associa 4 times about updating their records to show me as the responsible party of my residence. Each time they were provided a death certificate and court order showing me as owner via life estate. After more than a month, the request hasn't been completed. No one has offered to take ownership of the issue and when I contacted the supervisor over the settlement group, she questioned why I was calling her direct line. I would not recommend this company to any community shopping for a management company.
This company has no business managing companies. They do nothing. No maintenance, do not respond to homeowners, don't give notice for meetings, just to mention a few. I could hon for hours. Our property is in such decline and Associa doesn't seem to care at all.
We trying to get rid of them.
Don't ever hire this company.
Added just some pictures of the mess in my complex. Water damage to my ceilings and still not fixed.
I have a lot more pictures.
The company does nothing to improve your community but collect money. They owe me $75 for HOA fee. The manager Natalie promise to return it. Still waiting for over two months.
Having taken over ROA payments for Sage Hill, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, C-Era has made payments more than difficult. You can pay online by credit card, for an additional "convenience fee". You can pay online with a banking account, if you can supply a 9 digit routing number, an American banking convention; Canadian banks use a 5 digit transit number. Evidently they only take American currency. You can set up Pre-Authorized Debit, but only if you sign away your rights to your legally required ten days pre-notification before withdrawal. C-Era will not process said payments if you do not initial their "pre-notification advice waiver". You can pay by cheque by mail, paying for cheque, envelope, and postage. You can pay by debit, if you can take the time off work to go to their office Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. My bank has better hours. When you attempt to get actual customer service, all you can conclude is that Deanna, Jason, and Violet need training. If we had any choice, we would never do business with these people.
This company's follow-up is the worst I've ever experienced. They treat the customer like second class citizens. Customer service is a foreign concept and it starts at the top. I tried to discuss my issue with the president of the Mid-Atlantic regional office and it took 3 attempts to even get her to return my call. Frankly when she finally did connect she didn't seem very interested in helping. Use caution if you're looking for a management company for a homeowners association. Quick to take your money but slow in delivering service.
The worst customer service. I've been trying to resolve a billing issue in regards to my HOA account and, after 3 months, it's still ongoing. It's like a snowball going down a hill. Very frustrating. Terrible communication. Their motto should be, "If it's easy, make it hard,"
I don't even know where to begin so to put it in a nut shell they are total crooks that have zero accountability and fake books to cover their kickbacks time IRS steps in to reveal the steal that is going on. They hire Mickey Mouse so called property managers that are small useless puppets to addresses tenants with we will look into it but are simply a body to fill a chair and that all folks. They lie cheat and steal and if you question them you get nothing, Do not hire only fire these criminals.
Answer: Just a bunch of unknowing answers. They don't know our bylaws, rules or, for that matter any of our docs
Answer: Don't expect an answer that is knowledgeable and informed. They are clueless. They bounce you from team member to team member.
