My face is numb as I write this because I walked out before they started an unnecessary procedure that was dramatically different to what they had said.
They do not communicate. They upcharge every chance they get. They fabricate unnecessary procedures.
In January I went to Aspen and was told I needed a crown. When I went to get the temporary the girl who worked on me was sick. Coughing and congested. When she put in my temporary she put the cement all over the back of the two teeth next to the one she was working on. I had to ask her to clean them off. She did a half $#*! job. When my tooth was ready the next incompetent worker tried to pull the temp off. It had so much cement on it it wasn't moving. I told her it was hurting me and asked for pain med. She got syringe ready and then said wait I think I can get it. She used what seemed like plyers and smashed my tooth into many small pieces. Some going down my throat and choking me. This chipped the tooth next to the one they were working on. The new crown was put on. I have pain in the new crown for weeks. I went to a new dentist and was told that they had left a margin near my gum and had exposed nerves that was what the pain was from. I went to aspen and talked to Deon, the office manager. In-between her Potatoe chips she was eating she said she would check with the owner and the dentist to see what could be done. 3 days later I had to chase down an answer. She said I would get a full refund and It would be taken off my insurance. My insurance will not pay for it to get fixed because there is already a claim on this tooth. It took 3 months to get my refund and it still hasn't come off my insurance, The office manager was no help. I had to call and go there numerous times. At one-point Deone actually rolled her eyes at me. Very unprofessional.
Needless to say I will never step foot in that horrible business. I have called the billing department and get the run around every time. A call is usually a 20-minute wait to talk to a person. I'm assuming because the business is so bad they have so many complaints.
Bad business! Stay away!
Worst business I've ever dealt with. Went to them because they were in network with my insurance company. They verified they were. Submitted claim and they were paid what my explanation of benefit amount stated, I paid my amount according to the explanation of benefits, then they balance billed me for the entire amount, saying Aspen Dental is in network - BUT THEIR DENTISTS AREN'T! If I was told that up-front I would have walked out! Currently in collection! GOOD LUCK! NEVER GO TO ASPEN DENTAL! SAM
I went to Aspen dental 2 months ago to get my tooth pulled. I had already been to another dentist first but they don't pull teeth so I found Aspen. First appt was just xrays and consult. Scheduled to come back for extraction. When I arrived they took me back and took my blood pressure which was a little high, under the circumstances it shouldn't be a factor. They said I had to come back because of my BP. They can't do procedures with my BP high. So I rescheduled again. Second time the same thing happened and they said they need Dr. To provide what medications I take and it had to be sent directly from the dr. This time I contacted my primary to get Aspen the info they needed. Called back to reschedule, once I knew it was recieved, and the lady said she can't schedule me till the Dentist reviews my medications and gives the ok. That was 2 weeks ago and NO ONE has called to reschedule me. The most frustrating part is I have never had a dentist take my BP nor deny me service because it was a little high.
Outrageous pricing, automatically set you up with most expensive then want you to go in house financing. When you ask for a return call... GOOD LUCK. Waited 3 weeks. Made my own appt then once I got there the receptionist embarrassed me saying very loudly that I had to have $2400 for impressions.which are covered by my insurance. Needless to say I left without even seeing the dentist. Been a huge waste of time. However the dentist was nice. Staff is inadequate and rude. Not impressed at all. Wouldn't take my dog. Big name, short on customer service. Huge disappointment.
BE aware of the Fraud that they are perpetrating - June 2024
I was told that there was a trust issue with my Dentist because I wanted some say over my treatment plan.
DO as your told they said. It's just my mouth, my teeth, and my money. Of course I shouldn't have a say...
HORRIBLE - scheduled cleaning for my daughter & they didn't have time to do it, wanted a second appointment. They only do xrays on the first visit & want to bill your insurance twice. No communication that the cleaning I scheduled on the phone with them was not for a cleaning! If I could give a zero, I would... go to a real dentist office!
Price winds up costing you and insurance co. More than quoted and dentist is unprofessional by talking behind your back to office manager that you can overhear!
Took my son there for tooth pain and will never go back. All they wanted to do was a root canal for thousand of dollars that would have to be out of pocket and I might get reimbursed from my insurance. Would not even look at the tooth or help my son with the pain. All they wanted was money. Worst dental place I've ever been to
I went to Aspen Dental for a deep cleansing. I have dental insurance. I was quoted $752.00 for the cleansing. I paid $752.00. The insurance paid their portion 2 weeks later. Total charges $1135.00. My responsibility was $417.00. I overpaid them $335.00. I tried calling to speak to the office manager twice. The calls were routed to several people who put me on hold. I went in and was informed it man at take as long as a year to get my refund. Why should I allow them to hold my money in a bank to draw interest? I had the procedure done in March and it is now May and I still don't have my refund. I wish I had investigated before I chose this dental clinic.
They have unethical billing practices, they overcharge and talk you into financing the amount that the insurance company won't pay. They say that the price of the work that is being done isn't covered completely under the insurance and you will need to pay the balance. When I didn't have all the work done they were supposed to let American First Financial know to remove the cost, they never did. The excepted the insurance payment and the balance I was left with according to the explanation of benefits was much less then I was told I needed to finance. I can't get them to refund the money to the finance company and when I called to complain to the finance company I was told they couldn't help me until Aspen refunded them and they refused to do anything else. They are still charging me monthly for money I don't owe.
During my first visit I was told I needed to have 4 teeth removed and had an abscess that was very large. They were suppose to remove the teeth and they gave me a sedative to be used the day of the extraction that didn't work. They scheduled an appointment for a month later to remove the teeth under general anesthesia, I had to wait an entire month, in pain and with an infection. When they removed the teeth they broke a tooth next to it, they never told me or my husband. The following Monday I called to ask what they were going to do about the broken tooth and I am still waiting to hear back, that was 2 weeks ago.
They don't call you to check how you are after the procedure, they do not even do a follow up appointment, but over billing and over charging seems to be something they are able to do very well. I have submitted a formal complaint to my insurance company and will use every means available to me to get this situation take care of. They have been overpaid for services that were done extremely poorly.
Decided to try Aspen as my previous dentist was reaching ridiculose prices. All went well, Recommended a deep scraping and a crown. At a reasonable price. I questioned that I was told I needed more work. They assured me that was not the case. Happily had the work done, and a second follow up for a cleaning. All paid for at that time. Then, Christmas 23 they gave me a bill for over $600. They said the insurance did not cover as much as they thought. They never contacted me to advise me of that. I said I would contact the ins. Before payment. When I called to pay, the price had changed in my favor by $300. I set up a regular cleaning and x-ray's. I went last waak for this appointment. They performed the work and with ins. Said we were all set. My ins. Covers cleanings every 6 months and x-ray's once a year. I get a bill for $125. Called my ins., and was told the bill says periodontal maintainence, and they only pay a percentage and that was the difference. I contacted Aspem customer service, very poor phone connection and person spoke poor english, they said the charge was $81. I went to the office to find out why my cleaning was not covered. I was told periodontal maint. Plan is always a deep cleaning and I would always be on that plan due to gum disease. Woah! Never told at anytime of any gum disease issue. I was scheduled for a routine cleaning that should have been covered 100%. Now I'm told I will always be charged at this premium price, sounds extreemly fishy to me. I am seeing this quite often in their reviews. Yup, fishy! Work has been done correctly. This cleaning was by no means deep, it's the improper billing at question here.
Paid in advance for services that would not be completed for weeks. Over paid by almost 3 times. Months later still no refund just more run around and promises.
I requested an estimate for dentures when scheduling my appointment. I specifically inquired about ensuring that my insurance would approve the cost. Following up two days later, I was assured that the insurance would indeed cover the procedure. On the day of the appointment, I reiterated my concern about coverage and was once more reassured. Even as I settled into the dental chair, I sought confirmation that it was still covered and received the same response. However, a week or two later, I was surprised to receive a bill indicating that the procedure was not covered. Trusting their expertise, I believe that I should not be liable for payment, adding to the ongoing dilemma.
My bottom plate broke when I bit into a peanut butter and jelly sandwich so I called Aspen in Hutchinson Ks as that is where I had them made and ask if they could repair it. I was told yes and would need to come when they had a lab tech so we made and appointment for today. We made the hour drive and got there a few minutes early and checked in. No one looked at my broken plate and about twenty minutes I was called back to their sales room and the person had paper work out and said my dentures are three months out of warranty and it would be $1400 for a new plate. I said I knew they are out of warranty and I would pay to have them repaired and she said they would have to make a new denture. I was very upset that they would not look at the denture and see if it could be repaired but I did not make a scene I just said no and walked away. After the hour drive home I decided to see if that is what the office in Wichita Ks. Would say about a broken denture repair. The lady I spoke with said any one can walk in with a broken denture and they will have the lab look at the denture to see if they can repair it and some times they must send it to another lab any way the denture will be looked at. So the Hutchinson Ks, office does not want to repair and will get you there and try to sell you a new denture. I always felt these dentures would not last as the plates are very thin and I was right. My old set lasted 23 years a this new set did not make it 2 years. Nancy and I both got replacement dentures at the same time at the Aspen office in Hutchinson Ks and will not recommend them for anything. Rick Daniel 04/29/2024 Aspen Dental Hutchinson Ks. Bait and Switch update. I talked with my insurance company and they said denture repairs are covered and if not repairable a rebase would be covered. The Aspen Dental staff told me I had no coverage even after they called the insurance co.
I went to Aspen Dental for a new upper partial because I saw advertisement's that they keep prices low. So after my consultation the price for an upper partial that would snap in to my existing implants was $3250.00 cost out of pocket after insurance. I then went to my family dentist to see how much I was saving using Aspen dental with their low prices that they claim to be low. WOW was I surprised, the cost out of pocket after insurance for the same exact procedure, an upper partial that would snap in to my existing implants was only $1,230.00 which was $2,020.00 less than Aspen dental! BEWARE and definitely check with a regular dental office, because Aspen Dental is no bargain. They charge way more, I guess because they have the lab on site. You would think they would be less, but obviously not. They are a joke!
Lengthy wait to get someone to answer your call only to have them treat you rudely and hang up on you. From the local office to corporate, horrible customer service! They will do everything in their power to deny you owed refunds. This company's business practices are criminal! They refuse to resolve issues that should easily be satisfied. Went the BBB route. Next my attorney!Their doors should be CLOSED! PERMANENTLY!
Aspen Dental is the WORST company I have ever dealt with in my 68 years on this planet.
Aspen incorrectly charged my wife over $2,000 for work that was covered by her insurance and refuses to refund the money they incorrectly charged her for, even after 3 months of trying.
Aspen's customer service representatives and district supervisors ROUTINELY make promises that they do not keep. If I had a dollar for every time I was told that I'd get a call back that same day and didn't, well, I'd have a lot of dollars.
Aspen's customer service representatives are extremely unprofessional. For example, it is standard in business to put an "out-of-office" message on your email if you will be out of the office for days. Aspen customer service reps don't do this.
Aspen appears to have a large turnover among its employees. Getting told that an employee is no longer with Aspen and didn't take care of issues they promised they would is more than just annoying.
If you are looking for a PROFESSIONAL dentist with decent customer service, look elsewhere. Aspen is not that company. If ethics matter to you, look elsewhere.
I am now resigned from Aspen Dental! The personnel are fine, however, even though I requested repeatedly only one reminder please.this time, my final cleaning and follow up, they emailed 3 to 4 times, called Me 3 times…even today, 1 hour before My appointment! They ignore all feedback and complaints! Additionally, I find their follow up cleanings to be over priced for about 15 to 20 minutes of service, I'm done with them, since my requests went un addressed completely! Poor management!
So corrupt poor service thousands of complaints and yet they are allowed to practice. Just goes to show who's in charge of them do nothing!
