Begining to not trust them.
May 2, 2024

Decided to try Aspen as my previous dentist was reaching ridiculose prices. All went well, Recommended a deep scraping and a crown. At a reasonable price. I questioned that I was told I needed more work. They assured me that was not the case. Happily had the work done, and a second follow up for a cleaning. All paid for at that time. Then, Christmas 23 they gave me a bill for over $600. They said the insurance did not cover as much as they thought. They never contacted me to advise me of that. I said I would contact the ins. Before payment. When I called to pay, the price had changed in my favor by $300. I set up a regular cleaning and x-ray's. I went last waak for this appointment. They performed the work and with ins. Said we were all set. My ins. Covers cleanings every 6 months and x-ray's once a year. I get a bill for $125. Called my ins., and was told the bill says periodontal maintainence, and they only pay a percentage and that was the difference. I contacted Aspem customer service, very poor phone connection and person spoke poor english, they said the charge was $81. I went to the office to find out why my cleaning was not covered. I was told periodontal maint. Plan is always a deep cleaning and I would always be on that plan due to gum disease. Woah! Never told at anytime of any gum disease issue. I was scheduled for a routine cleaning that should have been covered 100%. Now I'm told I will always be charged at this premium price, sounds extreemly fishy to me. I am seeing this quite often in their reviews. Yup, fishy! Work has been done correctly. This cleaning was by no means deep, it's the improper billing at question here.

Duped by non full disclosure of cost
April 15, 2024

Where's the zero star?
Warning Aspen Dental has bad business practices and doesn't fully disclose their pricing. I called Aspen Dental to get the cost of teeth whitening. I was told that the procedure would be $330.00 total knowing that my dental insurance would not pay for anything cosmetic. The receptionist and I talked about this and assured me the total cost was $330.00. I went to my appointment and right off the bat I was informed that I had to have x-rays. I said I didn't need x-rays since my regular dentist would take care of that. I was told that the x-rays were free as part of the discount. If the x-rays hadn't been free I would have walked out right then and there. I went in for the procedure and was prepped. During the procedure my gums above my front teeth started to burn and became very painful. I told the dentist to stop the procedure it was too painful. When everything was taken away and out of my mouth my gums above my front teeth was pure white and hurting. The dentist said "oops oh that happens sometimes when the gum isn't covered up properly". Then they brought me my trays. They didn't fit, were too short and kept failing off my teeth. The dentist said they would remake them and I would have to come back another day to pick them up because they didn't have time to make them. I went to the receptionist and paid my bill of $330.00.
7 months later I get a bill for $497.00. I called the receptionist and complained and she said she would check. To hold on. She came back and said " oops we didn't take off the charge for the x-rays". I asked her about the remaining $330.00 bill and she said she couldn't do anything about that, to call corporate. I called corporate and they said I had to take it up with the office I was seen. I told the customer service representative that I had taken it up with the dentist office and they told me to take it up with corporate. I filed a complaint with corporate. Today I received another bill which is $20.00 more than the original bill minus the x-rays.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of NC for full non disclosure of pricing and have asked for my money back or at least mark this bill paid in full. If I had known they charged $827.00 for teeth whitening I wouldn't have made an appointment. BEWARE! The teeth whitening didn't even last a month. Just get trays and the gel from your regular dentist.

Very unprofessional
November 30, 2022

Our experience today was terrible and completely unprofessional! I took my children in for their regular cleaning and checkup and this was our first time at any Aspen Dental. The young receptionist was very polite and friendly.
When I took my child back they start with xrays- which is standard practice but I did tell them that my child has already had X-rays this year and I didn't think my insurance would pay for another X-ray. We then got placed in a waiting "lobby" area while they said they would check my insurance and would be able to tell if one had been billed this year.
Two employees came back with a list of my insurance coverage in hand and told me it shows one had already been billed this year, but xrays are mandatory and they won't accept xrays from ANY other place. At this point I had the previous dentist office on the phone, who told me they have not billed for this X-ray but did take a panoramic X-ray recently and offered to email it to them immediately. They gave me the printout of my insurance information and I don't see this information anywhere- so they came to me very snotty trying to prove that my insurance had already done an X-ray but weren't being truthful!
We HAD to take the X-ray to get the cleaning today and if our insurance didn't cover it the I would have to pay $129 for it.
Of course I'm not new to going to the dentist. When you make the appointment they ask you basic information and insurance information as well. Every dentist I've ever gone to will verify insurance before you even show up for the appointment. So, I stated that it would be been nice to have been told this prior to our appointment.

Then the second employee says that she did call my (ex) husband last night and he was very rude to her and said "why are you blowing up my phone". My child heard the entire conversation last night and spoke up and stood up for his dad and said he hadn't been rude to them. He is my ex but I honestly doubt that he was rude to them.
At this point we had already been here 40 minutes before we got called back. (Yes, I did arrive early to do my paperwork). The lady says "well just because you got here early doesn't mean you'll be seen early". I get it, but it was 40 minutes after our appointment time already.

Then they proceed to tell me that they don't see patients under age 14, but yet the children's ages were given when the appointment was made and that was not mentioned. Oh, but they will do his cleaning anyway but blamed this issue on the call center and made me feel like it was my fault! I had no idea this was an issue until they called about it last night.
The two employees were very rude, condescending, and incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL! The office manager Jessica Christopoulus tried to step in and save them but she came off and with an attitude as well.
Please choose another dentist. After doing a little digging, Aspen has a rating of 1.4 out of 5 and appears to have a history of overcharging people.
I'd rate customer service as a negative number for the OLIVE BRANCH, MS office.

Such a "dentist", such a "hyginst"!
November 17, 2022

Well, I just came back from visiting the Aspen Dental located at 2511 S. Orange Ave, Orlando, FL. I will just describe the facts and you decide whether you should visit this office or not.
It was supposed to be a "general maintenance cleaning: as the hyginest claimed, and I had Cigna dental insurance. I was asked to pay $107 upfront and I did before I was called to go into the hygenst's office. She was playing her music. She asked me to sit down and I found she was NOT concentrating on her job. So I politely said to her, "Your office allows you to play music?" She immediately said, "Yes, I am. Here we can do whatever we want." I told her that at my work place, nobody is allowed to play music at work time. She reluctantly said, "I can turn it off if you do not want music." I said, "please do. Only teenagers claimed that they can play better with music on." She responded unhappily, "Well, It depends". I walked into her office at 5 pm and finally she began to do her job. In less than 20 minutes, she is putting away everything. I felt the cleaning job is not done yet. I expected her to do a careful cleaning job for me as I paid $107 with my insurance covering the majority. She immediately fought back by saying "I am a professional and I have done a thorough cleaning job. If you feel not, tell me which part I need to clean." I said, "I can't see my teeth but I am requesting you to do a better job. At least a dentist should be here to check your work since you have done it in such a short time". She said to me, "I am a hygenist and I do not need a dentist to check my work." I told her, "In other dental office, they do have a dentist check after the cleaning is done". Finally she said very impatiently, "OK, I will get a dentist to check". She left the office for around 10 minutes. Then she came back. The dentist, just came in the door. She was at least 1.5 meters away from me and I was back facing her as I the seat was arranged to face the window. Before she walked to me, she was trying to put on her glove. She was still at my back. She did not even see me yet. But she claimed in a loud voice, "She has done an amazing cleaning job! She is the best hyginist in our office." She did not even ask me to open my mouth yet and she already made the false claim. I felt so cheated. The dentist, how could she become a dentist? I was upset. I requested to talk to their supervisor. They had no supervisor but just an office manager. I waited for her for about 20 or 30 minutes and then finally I saw her. She listened to what I said and felt apologetic at the beginning. But when I asked her to return my money to me because it was just a superfacial general cleaning and my insurance should completely cover the fee. She immediately said, the payment has already been in the system and she can not do anything about it. I told her, "Other dental offices asked you to pay when the cleaning job was done but your office ask patients to pay before anything is done". She said, "yes, we do it this way". I felt the entire office was behaving in an allegedly cheating way. All I got was being cheated and getting frustrated. When I asked them to return my dental records and my x-ray to me as I strongly determined that I would Never return to this office for nay dental cleaning later on, they do not give it to me. They said, after I finish completing a form, I will receive it in 20 business days. I remember when I lived in another city, one year I did not have dental insurance. The dental office charged me less money ($83 total) than $107 but they did beautiful cleaning job. This Aspen Office, however, is so good at putting so many fancy terminology in patients' charts or bills but what they did is just a very very general cleaning. They charged you 3 or 4 times more than any other dental offices I have visited. This terminology, "professional robber", fits nowhere but right here in this dental office! I just wonder why Aspen Dental hires such an unprofessional hygenist and such a fake dentist who made claim with her blind eyes not seeing anything yet as she did not even check anything before she made her very false claim. Which dental program did she graduate from? That university should feel shameful for producing such a fake dentist! She has no dentist moral value at all. I feel like that she has never gone through any professional training. I strongly request her supervisor to check whether she has really graduated from a dental service program! To me and several other patients, she is NOT professional at all! If people call her a fake dentist, I would not be surprised at all. The hygist really needs a lot of training for her manners, for her attitude and for her job! Yes, while she is working, as she claims, she can do whatever she wants!

Very Poor Service; unprofessional and untrained staff
August 29, 2022

I actually thought I'd finally found a dentist that would provide good & affordable svc. I received neither. At the beginning the 1st female staff ( don't remember her name, but was blond, slim and had a very bubbly personality). She whitened my teeth. No problem; i was very satisfied. However, the 1st issue i encountered was when i was provided a temporary crown & given a sch'd appt to return to have the permanent crown inserted; however, was instructed to come in if the temporary crown comes out, at which someone would be able to reinsert or insert the permanent crown if it has arrived. Well the temporary crown popped out while I was eating so I quickly telephoned & was told NP just stop by when you can and one of the staff can reset the temporary crown or put in your permanent if we have received it.
Well I decided to stop by during my lunch break, as I was working from home. To make a long story short, although my permanent crown had arrived, my temporary crown was reinserted, and when I asked why my permanent crown is not being inserted, this unprofessional female staff without any office or social skills; let alone office etiquettes told me "we're about to go to lunch". Really? Never was I ever told that the entire office takes lunch together at the same time as I have never experienced a medical facility with entire staff going on lunch. Usually if you're a first time patient you're given the office hours of operation & informed that no one would be available during such & such time, due to lunch. I get that & would not have had any problem with that; had that information was conveyed to me; but it was not. 2nd encounter happened surrounding
My appt that was sch'd at 8 AM on a Monday (when im off) thus, my appt was then later changed w/o my knowledge to 10 am. Never did anyone call me to ask if that would be OK that they changed my appointment. So no, I was not OK with my appointment being changed & w/o my knowledge. 3rd & 4th encounter broke the camels back. I arrived to my appt "2" minutes late and when I approach the desk there was a new employee sitting at the front desk on the phone; I stood there & waited patiently until she completed her phone call
(I had no problem standing & waiting); but, instead of her asking the caller can she place them on hold so that she can check in a patient that just walked in; she did neither, instead she looked at me with a very disgusted face w/ an attitude asking me "can I help you"? I said yes, I have a 8 o'clock appt & before I could even give her my name she asked (with an attitude) what is your name? I gave her my name; then she said "ok you can have a seat ill check you in". Meanwhile she's still on the phone. So i basically didn't get call back to be seen until a little after 8:30. I don't know who on the other end of the telephone call had upset her, but I really felt as if she was projecting that onto me at that time. Finally, the prices are "NOT" affordable. They make you believe it is because they offer carecredit & other options. Either way the bill still has to be paid.
Overall the hygienist that manages the grand prairie texas hwy 161 location was awesome; unfortunately the staff; especially the Africa American new employee
Staff at the front desk needs office etiquette and customer service training if they're wanting to work with the public or else they need to find another hobby.

BEWARE. BAD BUSINESS.
May 9, 2022

I was taken advantage of "big time". Went to the Mechanicsville office for a simple partial replacement. Newly retired and on a fixed income, I explained this to the office, that I needed only the partials. I got the partials roughly 4 months later after I'd undergone a detailed cleaning, root canal, filling, extraction, etc, etc, TO THE TUNE of roughly $2000, 00 out of pocket after I PAID FOR THE PARTIALS OUT OF POCKET.
I would contact the Regional Office to make known the shoddy treatment I was receiving when I would call inquiring about the hefty bill and how I could rectify it. The Regional Office only refers you back to the office that you are wronged by. No resolution whatsoever. Office manager dismissive of my concern, condescending, abrupt, rude, etc, etc, etc.
I don't do reviews normally but BEWARE. The atrocities they commit on their patients are a common practice. Staff is intimidated by the acting office manager I've been told. Heresay, however I've witnessed it.
IF I HAD MONEY, I WOULD NOT GO TO THEIR PRACTICE EVER AGAIN AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO A DEAD DOG. WORST CONSUMER EXPERIENCE EVER AND MY MOUTH LOOKS WORSE.
BEWARE!
I am and will continue to make known, at any avenue, the luring practices that they practice. I refuse to be silent on this. I am diligent in my unveiling of this practice.
Some staff in this office has apologized for the way I've been treated and says she's sorry and uncomfortable with the whole situation, but that's how the office is. She says they know when I call with the caller ID. I'm put on hold, left on hold and hung up on when I call. I've been told if the bill is not satisfied that I'll go to collections immediately. I plan on paying monthly when I get my Social Security. Not trying to get away with anything here. Need to make known to consumers. BEWARE.

I started going here a year ago and at 1st it seemed to be going well I need a new dentures there's they "d me several different" s one being the lowest cost cost and then 3rd being the highest and supposed to be the best quality. The 3rd option supposed to be the best carries a 7 year warranty soon so I of course chose that option that option and paid probably close out of pocket over $2000 after insurance After receiving my finished entries I went back 7 times because because of the bite not matching up or the the dentist hurting my mouth each time they did a little filing here and a little filing there and it didn't correct the problem eventually I just stopped going A year later II was babysitting and and the front tooth just fell out wasn't eating wasn't doing anything notice something in my mouth it was think in my mouth it was the tooth I called them I called them I told them that I had a warranty it's only been a year and that the 2 stout they told me that I they got me in right away way and told me that they would have to examine me and then go and then see if the repair was by fault or theirs To see if it will be covered under warranty I went in when I got to the desk they had me sign a paper telling me to charge me my co-pay for the Exam I went back in the room in the room handed dentist T heck a baggy containing the loose tooth and my top dentures and she took it back and I heard her speak to the lab Tech stating or asking could the lab to fix the problem the lab text said they could told me to come back in an hour and a 1/2 to pick up my teeth I left the office when I returned to the office I asked them was my insurance billed for an exam They said yes that because the repair wasn't my fault it was a bundle warranty and I wouldn't have to pay for the repair but I had to pay for the exam exam I said who examined me go examine me they said the doctor had to examine the teeth to see if they were fixable I said no the doctor didn't examine the teeth the dental Tech took the teeth back to the lab Tech and asked the lab Tech could they fix them nobody nobody examined me or anything else They got really offended said it was their policy that it was their policy and that basically they weren't trying to hear any other things I had the exam was built to my insurance and it took out of the yearly allowance maximum loans that the dentist costs I so I don't understand why I would be getting charged for an exam when the warranty covers the mistake in the teeth caused by pause by you I then called backup to the dental and ask them was the warranty on the teeth or is it only through there Facility Aspen dental they it's been dental they said the warranty is only through them so to get anywhere from my dentures I don't need to be able to get it done through them and through them and That the warranty. Is 7 years when I was told in the beginning it was 10 years They are insurance scammers. They then connected me to the finance lady or a manager whatever who stated that there was nothing that I could basically think could be done about it that's their policy and that was that so I ended up Being charged for an exam when I was never examinedAnd the teeth were the damage to the teeth were their mistake from the glue now if i want work dobe on my dentures i have to go there. I should have known when they gave me a root canel charged me then three weeks later when the tooth had to be pullind because it was to close to the nerve charged me for that to when i in the beginning tild them just to pull the tooth. They are horrible money hungry theifs.

I had my teeth removed July 2021. Still can't wear dentures. My initial visit went good. Was told I had a root tip that needed removed and it would be done during the surgery. They made teeth for me to wear after mine were removed. Well needless to say they were too big, trying to make teeth to fit when you still have teeth is totally stupid. I was not informed I could wait and have them fitted after surgery. So I went back several times to try and get them to fit they used soft liners but they were still to big. Then i started getting sick, went to the er and my dr twice, I was very constipated, well I hadn't had any teeth for 2 and a half months so my diet was lacking in everything just about. I went to their office manager and told her I wanted new temporariesthat fit. She left the office and came back I guess after talking to someone and said they couldn't do that. I told her then I want my money back. They changed their tune and scheduled an appointment to get new ones made. I'm not really sure how teeth are fitted but they put some type of goop on the old dentures and made impressions that way. This was in the latter part of September, about 4 weeks they called and said they were ready I went in so excited. Only to find they were only wax and they needed to fit them and adjust to make the real finally got them a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. Still couldn't wear them the pallet was so long I gagged every time I put them in. Glue did not work for some unknown reason I could only wear them for 4 hours a day at the most. But in between all this I have on my upper left toward the back I had my gum hanging down down the length of a molar. That's probably why my dentures wouldn't stay in my mouth. I told the girls every time I was there which was too many times about it, it just went in one ear and out the other. Now we are in January 2022. I went in to find out what the thing was. I finally saw the dentist! Third time only since he removed my teeth. He tried to tell me it was bone that had fallen because I hadn't worn my dentures. But I had teeth removed from that area at least 15 years before that! He told me I would have to have the bone shaved down or something so they would fit, I had only been trying to figure out what it was since September and no one told me. So, I had an appointment 2 weeks ago to have the surgery done. I couldn't go in because I was called into work. So I went in today because I had pain and swelling where the root tip was removed. Turned out he had never taken it out when he removed my teeth. Now it's abcesed up inside and he would not take it out. Said I didn't come in for my appointment. My appointment was for the bone removal. The root tip was supposed to have been taken out during surgery. He referred me to an oral surgeon to have it and the bone removed. So now I sit with an abscess waiting to see someone else, he screwed up and tried to blame it on me. He has left me hanging a poor excuse for a dentist. This is the Richmond Ky branch. My husband and I had to finance some money through care credit which will paid on for many months to come. They are all a bunch of liars

PULLED WRONG LOWER TEETH/HORRIBLE UPPER DENTURE FIT
January 20, 2022

I wish these review sites would allow ZERO or, better yet, NEGATIVE STARS!

I became a patient of Aspen Dental on Main Street in Suffolk, VA about 2 years ago. Dr. Turkewitz, the owner/operator, saw me to remove the last 4 upper teeth (I have moderate osteo dentia imperfecta that wasn't diagnosed until after I turned 40 so, my life-long attempts to SAVE my teeth were for naught) and to make my upper dentures. While Dr. Turkewitz was fantastic and my healing and final dentures were made in a great time frame, I do not feel that I got the denture I paid for, which is supposed to be the best. I have had it for almost a year now and it STILL feels foreign and fits POORLY. Moving on to NOW: I called the office on 01/05/2022 in MASSIVE pain from a loose and infected tooth... literally IN TEARS... I was told I was unable to be seen until 1 PM on 01/13/2022. I walked in, was made to PRE-PAY $118.00 (which I paid in cash) for the visit, and was taken back about 15 minutes after I got there. I explained to the tech what my issue was, showed her the tooth, showed her how loose it was and how aggrevated the gum around it was. She took some X-Rays and said "Oh, I see the problem. It's the 2 back molars here, they're infected". Um, EXCUSE ME? No. And here's why: Teeth 18 & 19 were root canaled OVER 2 DECADES AGO - the fillings for those teeth fell out 8 & 5 years ago, respectively. They have never caused any pain or issues, tooth 20 was the problem. Well, in walks the doctor... a Dr. Young, and she proceeds to tell me the same thing Leslie did. I argued with her. She then tells me that she's going to put me on anti-biotics and I'll have to come back in in a few days for the extractions. What? I have NEVER had to be treated with anti-biotics BEFORE AN EXTRACTION. But whatever... she's the professional, right? At check-out, I was informed that I would have to pre-pay for my next appointment...$654.00! Whatever... I was in pain. While not denying that those 2 teeth needed to come out EVENTUALLY since I'll be getting lower dentures in the not to distant future, they didn't necessarily need to come out NOW. As long as she was going to pull the tooth that was causing me pain, I was willing to do it all at once. So I went back, AGAIN, 01/18/2022 for the extractions. When it was all said and done, she ONLY pulled 18 & 19, didn't touch 20, and then REFUSED to give me an RX for pain meds. She assured me that the pain would be gone. 7 hours later, once the novacaine was completely worn off, guess what? Still had the pain! In the tooth that I said it was! I emailed their office and corporate that night. I got a phone call from them on 01/19/2022 apologizing that I was in pain and wanted to know what they could do. I told them that Dr. Young should have listened to her patient and pulled the correct tooth, that this was not my 1st rodeo with dental issues After a short hold, I was informed that "Dr. Young can fit you in to her schedule next week to look at it". Really? I just paid these people almost $800 IN CASH and was STILL in pain and was being told I had to wait! I told them I was going to call a REAL DENTIST and I wanted my money back. I ended up calling Dr. Demsko in Windsor, VA, was seen today, had the problem tooth removed and now my pain is gone. I have left MULTIPLE messages for both the Office and Corporate in regards to wanting my money back and have heard NOTHING. These people truthfully are scam artists and HORRIBLE at patient care. I wish I would have seen all of this info regarding their shady history before I ever went there the 1st time. All together, I have spent just over $5,000.00 with them, have a denture that is poor quality and fits horribly and was treated like S&>T during my last ordeal with them.

Aspen Dental needs to be shut down. Corporations have NO business being in charge of Medical Care.

Aspen Dental makes "free" bad.
August 2021 Covid had dentist offices scheduling "far few, in between." Not Aspen. Offering free exrays and full mouth exam was their offer to come in for a try.
Falling for this, I gave them a try. My complete "plan" would total $2303 dollars after insurance. Seems the only one believing this was me! Family and friends looked at me as if I had two heads. Saving for my portion before any work could be done. Finally nearing the end of December I was able to pay my share of the bill. However, not so fast. Calling them to set my appointment, seems their staff wasn't so honest. Upon asking him my total cost excluding insurance he tells me my responsibility before work can be preformed would be $3302. He was reluctant to understand my total was $1000 less than the total he gave me. Making a point to say this was because his screen was showing a portion of the billing that "obviously" wasn't attached. Thus, I asked for a call back from the person who sat me down in a hidden office with door shut, pen in hand asking for my credit card and signature the day of my original check - up and full - mouth exam. Never receiving a call back. Continuing to reach the office via phone all my calls were being directed to voice mail. Never a returned call. Finally on December 30,2021 I was able to contact a reseptionest. After explaining to her that I would like to use my dental insurance before the year was up, she told me there would be no way to get anything started until the following year! Not even a teeth cleaning. But, requested I pay my portion to schedule. I then could not agree. Requesting my dental exrays to take to another dentist she agreed explaining to come directly into the office that day at 2PM. To pick them up. Again, not so fast. When I arrived she said " Oh sir, I called to tell you before you made the trip here that your exrays can't be printed because our copier is broken and I am the only person here today. But, I can call you tomorrow to let you know if the copier has been fixed." The next day to no avail. I called her back. She then said" No the copier is still broken and we are closing early today." I then asked for corporates phone number. Without hesitation she said" oh, I can't find that number. ". Fortunately I was able to get into another dentist. After a complete exam my bill was nearly $2000 dollars less than Aspens. Questioning this I was asked to see my bill from Aspen. I was then shown on my bill Aspen was charging double for some things and others they were charging my insurance as well as myself.
In my opinion Aspen Dental should be avoided. If they are willing to steal from me, they will steel from you too.
Thank you for reading.
