As per website Amex card holders are eligible for oryx launch in Doha airport. When I shown my platinum card in the launch it was not accepted.
Amex Card is what I have and made lot of spending and this company is horrible, they lie a lot, it doesn't matter how loyal you are to them. Sucks
Did the upgrade for AMEX to their Platinum and they promised me 65k points. I upgraded from Green to this card. Been with these jokers since 2002.
25 photos and 3 Government Reports Later, AMEX is still failing.
It's nice to be able to see my credit report right away but the points are variable vs advertisement and the use of them not easy.
Beyond that, horrible.
We were locked out of the online account a year into the card and no one could explain it (from the offshore call center). We were later advised they it was because of an AMEX change 2 years ago.
We requested the call center process payment as AutoPay was also turning off repeatedly.
They did not process a payment requested of the offshore call center. We made this request 3 times, then with our billing 2 weeks late, started calling every department to try to get help. We did not used the automated pay system, which we found much later, as we wanted resolution with explanation. Call 13 did the trick. A seasoned AMEX employee in an unrelated department was able to find out why we were locked out (unauthorized activity by 1st offshore rep, who accessed our account and changed things). The seasoned rep did process a payment but not as requested (in two separate payments, "1 today, 1 tomorrow or later today"), so... overdraft fee while I was still on the call. That was two months ago. The system is now not immediately pulling funds from our bank during the billing cycle but delaying; my guess is to make it seem like it's the card user fault when the money is first used for something else or in our case, we put money in during the billing cycle and take it our 7 days later. When they do take the funds, the payment is not posted timely, so the card is unavailable for use, regardless of the balance, forcing it to appear late in the system.
We believe in this activity that they are attempting to blame the customer, as they have already claimed blame on the "merchant portal" a few times for different merchants, then "check with your bank" (no issues), then trying to claim we made no payment request and/or never had Autopay selected. I'm afraid to imagine how unethical behavior will impact people just getting by paycheck to paycheck or worse, living on credit. This is making our project difficult and makes us feel like we need to lobby for ethics that used to exist. This should be illegal.
The worst bank ever. My current interest rate charges on the money I owe are 200$ on every 300$ payment I make! They set you up for a failure.
I had an Amex card for my business and I was happy to use it for buying supplies and balancing the amount the following month. This worked well as my clients paid my invoice and in turn I cleared the Amex balance. Then 2 issues happened: 1, I raised a charge back request in October 2022, which was acknowledged in writing and then I had a letter a week later saying it was closed stating I had not responded. I had. 2, In November 2022 I had a client inform me that due to Christmas payment runs differing from the rest of the year, they were delaying my invoice by a week. No problem I thought, just call Amex and arrange a one off exception to pay 1 week later, considering I had never missed a payment or paid late, this should be fine? Wrong. Amex immediately classified my account as a risk, and blocked my card and it never worked again. I called them multiple times to ask why, and they said the card would be unblocked, it wasn't. I cleared the December payment exactly when I promised to, but the account remained blocked. Multiple calls later, they kept promising to unblock the card, but never did. Eventually, I called to make a complaint, which wasn't taken seriously, nobody gave me a reference number or acknowledged anything formally. I called again, about the 6th time, to say "Either acknowledge these issues, fix my card and apologise, or close my account". This was recorded on the Amex system as "customer wants to close the account". That wasn't what I said, but Amex only believe their own records. Do not bother calling and trying to reason with them, they just write whatever they feel like in their system and usually it tries to make you out as the bad guy.
I am now in dispute with them, and they want to close my account and demand full payment of all funds outstanding and are threatening me with a negative credit rating, for a debt less than 60 days old. They have never acknowledged any error on their part, its all my fault apparently. Be very sure that Amex will not do anything to assist if you run into issues
During the 2020 WORLD Pandemic, AMEX started getting people to enroll in a payment aid plan that was presented as a reduced interest rate for the net 5 years. They offered to reduce your interest rate from 24.99% to 7.99% with a higher month minimum payment. This was designed to help you pay of your balance over the course of the 5 year period. It was also explained that the for all new charges the rate would be 7.99%. This was all contingent on setting up auto payment.
Two months after this started, I was declined for my Netflix payment of $15.99 and when I called to discuss with AMEX asking them if there was an issue with my card, the associate said that my account was frozen because I stated that I needed relief with my payments. I reassured the representative that this is not the issue at all. Any intelligent person would jump on a plan to pay a lower interest rate and this is what I've taken advantage of.
After speaking to multiple people, they turned it around and made me feel like I was the one who was an IDIOT and I didn't understand what the details of the program were. I felt insulted and disappointed to know that I was the biggest advocate for AMEX in the past and it has been my card of choice since I was a freshman in college, here I am today considering closing out my account forever.
I am here to say my piece and hope that maybe someone from AMEX might read this and understand that customers like myself are the reason AMEX Is great and respected and with misinformation and arrogance you can potentially start loosing loyal clients.
I've convinced many people over the years to get an AMEX and now I will make sure that I never say anything to promote or offer free marketing for this brand ever again. I'm so disappointed.
American Express reward website is been down over two weeks. I can not access my rewards to use them. I will stop using my American Express card.
My experience with American Express has been an infuriating mess from start to finish. This company's complete lack of consistency, disregard for customers, and intrusive practices are beyond maddening.
From the moment I signed up, they couldn't be bothered to validate my credit limit properly. Yet, as soon as I started spending, they felt the need to audit my every move. They would decline transactions within my credit limit or, even worse, approve ones that exceeded it, only to use that as an excuse to audit me. It's a complete joke and a sign of their incompetence.
As if that wasn't enough, their statement updates are a complete joke as well. It takes a mind-boggling 7 days for them to reflect my actual spending power and credit limit. This outdated information led me to unknowingly exceed my limit and triggered yet another pointless audit. It's a lack of transparency that sets customers up for financial disaster.
The icing on the cake is their unhelpful customer service. Instead of providing assistance, they hide behind the excuse that everything is in the user agreement. They show no accountability or empathy for their customers' concerns. Moreover, their representatives have no qualms about prying into your personal life, asking intrusive questions about your purchases and whereabouts. It's an unnecessary breach of privacy and respect.
In conclusion, American Express is a nightmare of incompetence and intrusion. Their inconsistent credit limit practices, delayed statement updates, unhelpful customer service, and intrusive questioning are beyond frustrating. Save yourself the headache and protect your sanity and personal privacy by seeking credit card options from companies that prioritize their customers and respect their boundaries. American Express falls disgustingly short of what any reputable company should be.
Bar none the best service from any credit card company. Quick to answer quick to resolve issues. Top notch.
I have 710 credit score and they denied me today, do not apply they only want 800 or more credit score for unsecured
After nearly 15 years with having an Amex card, I discovered on my statement this month, that my interest rate had risen to 28.75% and that they had allowed my card to exceed its limit by nearly $2000! The purchases via PayPal were meant to have been charged to my bank account. For some reason they were charged to Amex. The customer service rep gave my some song and dance about how they could not adjust the interest rate (it started at 5.99% when I opened it) even though for years it had been low and I have an excellent history with them -they actually had the cheek to thank me for being such a wonderful customer and that I was very valued because I've been with them for a very long time! So valued that when I asked for some clarity on why my card was able to exceed the limit by so much and why my interest rate had skyrocketed (something which began in 2021) they suggested a payment plan which I would have to call back in 48 hours to access! I cancelled my card and told them to come and collect. They are the very scourge of the earth as far as I'm concerned. Any balance I have on this card has been paid a hundred times over with the interest rates they've started charging. They have never had a problem with me being late to pay but this is how I'm being treated. As far as I'm concerned, my credit rating is wrecked because of them so I've got nothing to lose. They can pay a collection agent more money than I owe to come and get the balance owing. Oh ya and on top of that they wanted me to update them with my current job and income hahahahaha! Nice try Amex. Never again! You have lost yet another customer for life- not that I mattered to them in the first place.
I've had an amex card for 7 years. Over the years all was fine and service was okay. While all seemed well on the initial card levels, the deceptive experience I've just had this summer has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I downgraded and might stop using it completely.
I got an offer letter in the mail in July for an upgrade for the new Amex Reserve card (made with metal from an old 747, ask me for a photo of the letter as well) and the offer stated: 20,000 bonus miles + $200 statement credit if you spend $3k in the first 6 months.
Sounded like a good fair trade for the higher price card.
I followed the steps from the QR code in the letter and got the new card in the mail. On to the spending.
However...
When I called to ask about the progress, they had no record of that offer on my account, and said unless I could produce a POID code from the letter I had 4 months ago, that there was only a small 5,000 mile offer.
What the what? Was I supposed to keep a paper trail of all of this? I did take a photo of the letter, but that photo did not have the fine print code they were looking for. They said "Marketing will open a case for you and get back to you." That was October. I've called 4x since then to check on it and add further clues - how could this be, since the letter promised this promotion with my name on it?
Well I called one more time, and the lady said now the case had already been closed. No offer. Something fishy going on. No one had contacted me about it!
They said without the code, there was absolutely nothing they could do.
So they were going to just take my money for the higher card but not give me the promised bonus... that's what you get with high stakes at AMEX apparently.
My American Express card help me a lot with my needs. They have good offers and I do not have to worry about this card. They work with fidelity.
Harvard has designed a test to identify a "moron". If a person has an American Express card they passed the test.
I started out with the green card. I thought it was pretty good but I also didn't think I was getting enough points back.
Then I had a dental emergancy. Everything worked out good until I was getting ready to pay. When I got the bill I was in shock, over 4K. I was in a slight panic as the receptionest was stairing at me waiting for me to pay. I opened up the Amex app on my phone and checked my spending power. Approved in 1 second. When I was leaving the parking lot all I could think of was WOW this is the best card I ever had! A few months ago I upgraded to the gold card and at first I thought the annual fees were a little high $250.00 but the points are amazing. 4X the points, some of their preferred places are 10X the points. In 2 months I earned over $300.00. The gold card is made out of metal and very heavy it's a Beast. When you hand it to someone for payment it commends a lot of respect. I highly recommend it.
I always keep in mind that its a check card and not a credit card so I use it like cash, I only buy what I can afford and generally make 2 payments a month.
One problem that it does create(by being so awesome). I have to force myself to use my other credit cards so they don't lower my credit limits.
If I could give Amex 10 stars I would :)
I made the horrible decision to trust American Express with my business. I applied for a business credit card, and was approved. Little did I know I would regret starting the relationship with American Express. Several months after obtaining the business credit card my credit limit decreased. I did not have a balance on the account, nor did I have any late payments. A few months after that I utilized the business card, and made an overpayment. American Express owed me for the overpayment that caused my available balance to be less than the amount paid on the account. I lost my card and had to order a new card. American Express claimed they sent the new card, however, I never received the new card to my address. I proceeded to order another card since the card never came, however, the next card never came. The entire time I was waiting for the card I received billing statements, and other correspondence from American Express, however, I never received the card they claimed they delivered. I also ordered a gift card from American Express by using my rewards points. They claimed they sent the gift card, however, I never received the gift card either. I no longer had the 5,000 membership rewards points, nor did I receive the gift card. I was never reimbursed the used rewards points, nor did I receive the purchased gift card. After several months I still never received the overpayment amount that was due to me. I never received a replacement business card. I never received the gift card, nor my rewards points. Every time I call, American Express makes an excuse. They have horrible customer service. Do not trust this company with your business banking.
I'm very disappointed in the decline in customer service and the loss of benefits on the AmEx gold card.
Waste off time. Don't Use there services its not worth it they just charges use. They fraud team. Waste of time,
Answer: Terrible organization since it outsourced out to Malaysia
