I bought a tv remote control from the AlzStore.com. The remote does not work for my mother-in-law's assisted living facility. I opened the remote control to install batteries and to try to get it to connect, but due to their "post 30-day" policy they would not accept my return attempt for an otherwise unused/unusable tv remote!
We bought one of their Playmate Pets. When we opened it and turned it on it scared my wife. The purring was more like a growl and very creepy. When we ask to return we were told anything with cloth cannot be returned even if unopened. They say it is to protect customers and warehouse workers from contamination. Even during the height of Covid this was not a medically sound practice. No other merchandiser has anything like this policy, especially concerning unopened items. Basically, they allow nothing to be returned.
Out of an abundance of caution we do not accept certain items back for return that have been used. We value our future customers as much as our current customers. We want to be sure new customers are getting new product that has not been used, with potentially drained batteries or missing components due to testing. Thank you.
I bought the meta cat robotic cat for my mother with dementia. Thinking it would be a companion to her as she gets lonely I went ahead and paid the 200.00 price. It was advertised as a companion for dementia patients. Once received I opened it to see how to use it before I gave it to my mom. It was so complicated and hard to charge there is no way my mom could figure it out. I reached out to the company for a return and they told me to be philanthropic with it and they do not issue refunds. How about them being philanthropic and giving someone taking care of an elderly person their money back for a product that was just looked at…especially after they advertised it for dementia patients.
Our products are intended to be reviewed by the caregiver to determine if it's is appropriate. Any product that contains batteries or that needs to be charged might not be a fit unless the caregiver can assist. Out of an abundance of caution we do not accept certain items back for return that have been used. We value our future customers as much as our current customers. We want to be sure new customers are getting new product that has not been used, with potentially drained batteries or missing components due to testing. Thank you.
I bought the picture phone for my husband so he could push the picture and connect to a loved one. It worked for a very short amount of time. I tried emailing and calling the company but it is impossible to get them to respond. This phone was $50. What a waste of money. I should have bought it from Amazon. At least they accept returns! Don't buy from this store!
We attempt to respond to every customer in a timely manner. If a product stops working for whatever reason after 30 days of purchase, the manufacturer will work with those issues directly.
The Alzheimer's store is a scam. Do not ever purchase anything from this site. They charged my debit card over $300 and never provided the product. They have an automated email response and refused to answer questions or refund my money.
We do not have a record of this order. The Alzheimer's Store is not a scam and we pride ourselves in fast and accurate shipping.
I bought a Playmate Pet, Tuxedo Kitty, for a loved one with severe memory loss. The cost was $125.00. I reached out Alzheimer Store staff several times by phone and email with no response prior to opening the product. I did not get a response. I opened the package to review the kitty prior to giving it to my loved one. The Playmate Pet was hard as a rock. The movements were jerky and after a few meows the "toy" stopped. The product would not have been a comfort to my loved one. The product is a piece of junk. I will not donate it: into the garbage it goes. I completed the return form online and I received a quick response saying SOL: no returns since the package was opened. The name, Alzheimer's Store conveys compassion and loving kindness. Buyer beware. $125.00 is a lot for me as I am on disability for a cancer diagnosis. The owners of this store should be ashamed of themselves for their products that are junk and praying on big hearted loved one of suffering people.
Very poor customer service and a waste of a lot of money.
No receipt to add for proof of purchase. Just buyer beware.
We stand by our products. Our robotic pets are robotic... so they have some harder internal parts that make them move. Out of an abundance of caution we do not accept certain items back for return that have been used. We value our future customers as much as our current customers. We want to be sure new customers are getting new product that has not been used, with potentially drained batteries or missing components due to testing. Thank you.
I purchased an automatic pill dispenser from the Alzheimer's Store. Buying it and receiving it was easy and flawless. However, my elderly mother passed away right after we received it. We have not even taken it out of the box. I asked to return it. The following statement was their ridiculous excuse for not accepting the return. "Medication dispensers are non-returnable, due to the health and safety concerns surrounding handling medication, or devices that have come in contact with medications". I followed up their response with the reminder that it has never been out of the box nor in contact with medication. They will no longer respond to me.
David, we are sorry to hear of your loss. Medication adherance and patient safety is our #1 concern. Most of our medication dispensers cannot be returned as we cannot take the risk that any medication residue is left in them from a prior return. We hope that you can understand we provide the sales of many end of life products, and we have to be very careful with how these returns are handled. Donating items helps the community and others!
Beware of this store! Now only does the return department never answer the phone or emails, they charge you a ridiculous 25% restocking fee even when the box is not opened! They are taking advantage of the elderly knowing full well that within this age group, products can be returned for multiple reasons. I never even opened the box that the phone I bought for my elderly mother came in yet I was charged this insane fee... Never again will I buy anything from them.
Due to the nature of our products, many being end of life, Incontinence and medical products that come in contact with medication and with the body, our return policy has to be strict to ensure the safety of our employees and customers. If items are opened they cannot be resold and require a restocking fee - and they are then donated.
Restocking fees also help to cover the original shipping costs to get the product to our customers and for the returns department to inspect the item and process the credit.
We have an excellent customer service staff that is available during regular business hours. We return calls and chats as soon as we can.
Our company was created to assist the elderly. We would never take advantage of this and our return policies are clear and like any online store, they should always be read before making a purchase.
Thank you!
DO NOT buy a thing from this store! For one the products are EXTREMELY overpriced and the return policy is nothing short of ridiculous! Don't be sucked into the "About Us" story about their "dear George...this is why we started the store" story. They're in it for the money, plain and simple. They won't work with you and will take more advantage of you along the way.
We never received the product this customer claims to have send back to us. He shipped it to another company in another state and did not follow the instructions on the return form.
Our company was created to assist the elderly and we stand by our products. The products are priced as low as possible and are selected by us, as industry experts. We would never take advantage of this and our return policies are clear and like any online store, they should always be read before making a purchase.
George was our family's patriarch and grandfather. To hear that a customer wants to shame us for helping others that are impacted by Alzheimer's is hurtful to our family and team members.
It is sad that this is a platform for those who want to be leery of those who help. Our family story is true and we have run our store for over 10 years and have thousands of real and gleaming reviews that can be found on our site - not on a platform that promotes negativity and hate.
Thank you!
I am trying to return an item, filled out their form and submitted it 6 times to get an RA number and still didn't get a response other than their standard which said it would be good if I donated it. I should have bought this item on Amazon rather than fiddle around with this. I do NOT recommend this store. They need to get their act together!
Katherine. Thank you for your input. We are sorry to hear that there was a hiccup in getting in touch with us. We are also sorry to hear that we lost a sale to Amazon, which has no customer service and don't care as they often dispose of any returns without question. We think this is not the way to best help those in need.
I purchased a comfort puppy for my Mom who has alzheimers. The cost was $140.00. When I showed the puppy to my Mom, she got scared and wanted nothing to do with it. I contacted the company and explained that the box had been opened so I could show the item to my Mom. She never touched it. It was only out of the box for 5 minutes. The company's policy is no returns on opened items. How do you know you can't use something unless you open it and look at it? This company is in the business of selling products with absolutely no intention of accepting returns. They have numerous reasons why they won't accept the return and will not work with you to find a solution under any circumstances. Their main excuse is for "sanitary reasons".The BBB doesn't honor them and they've had numerous complaints. I trusted the name and didn't do my research before purchasing. I've learned a tough lesson.
Out of an abundance of caution we do not accept certain items back for return that have been used. We value our future customers as much as our current customers. We want to be sure new customers are getting new product that has not been used, with potentially drained batteries or missing components due to testing. Thank you.
I have worked in geriatrics for more than 30 years and finding products that work for my clients has never been easy. The Alzheimers store has been a godsend for ten years. God bless the fine people at this store and all the work you do to help people.
I accidentally ordered the wrong door alarm sensor so I reached out as soon as I could about the error. They sent a replacement before I even shipped mine back. I like the trust and the understanding. The door alarm system was exactly what we needed and the price was not that bad considering what it does!
I ordered a home alert pager & pendant. Description said there were 50 tones to choose from. It only plays a siren sound. I emailed customer service twice before getting a reply. They said they would call me asked me When I was available. They called when I said I wasn't. Tried calling them but can't get them to answer. Realize I was scammed. Paid way too much for what I got. I should have checked reviews before ordering. Don't buy from this store.
Iris, the alarms do indeed have 50 tones! Please see the product instructions for how to set them. Hint: the clip slides off the back which exposes the volume and tone buttons. They are intentionally concealed so they are not accidentally changed. Hope this helps!
I ordered a memory phone for my dad, drove 4 hours to bring it to him, only to discover it would not store phone numbers! I called tech support who advised it was a bad phone and needed to return to Alzstore for replacement. My dad was quite upset, and I lost significant time delivering a nonfunctional unit. Website states it takes 2-3 weeks to receive a replacement and they wanted me to ship back the dud. I dropped it in the trash and ordered a cheaper and fully functional memory phone from Amazon, delivered the next day. My dad is happy now! I wrote a critical review on the alzstore.com website, but it was not published. All their reviews are 5-star, yet this website has many 1-star. They are dishonest. Spend your money elsewhere!
David. We are sorry to hear the the phone did not work as intended. It is very rare for any phone to be defective. Some memory phones will not work on VoIP services. We are happy to hear that you found a device that is helping your father. Regarding our prices: we try to offer our products for the same price as other retailers. Some prices are fixed by the manufacturer. Big business marketplaces like Amazon can sometimes get around these prices due to their size. We are a small business, run by a family. We are doing the best to provide products for those in need!
I don't recommend this site for anyone supporting someone with Alzheimers. Dealing with this disease is stressful enough so I wouldn't recommend a site that creates more work for the caretaker. I purchased a defective reminder clock on this site. I contacted the end merchant directly who didn't respond and I wasn't unable to get a response from the Alz store customer service directly. So stressful!
Genevieve, we understand that caring from those in need is a stressful situation. We do our best with helping our customers, but we see that you contacted the manufacturer first. We are available on chat and on the phone during regular business hours!
This business does not have any honor. They sell shoddy, broken product and then refuse to refund or replace. It is insulting, especially when they are doing it on the backs of the mentally infirmed.
Scott. We are sorry to hear that the item arrived broken. We do not ship broken items. This was deemed to have been damaged while in transit and the issue was resolved. Thank you!
Make sure you check the return policy before ordering since many things are not returnable. I bought a medication dispensing box which has an alarm that freaks my mom out, but when I tried to get authorization to return it, I was told that it is on the list of items that they won't take back. I understand the reasoning, but if they had posted a note saying "this product cannot be returned" while I was ordering it, I would've thought twice about it. I did communicate this suggestion to them which was not particularly well-received.
Actually your suggestion was a great one. We have our return policy link on the bottom of the page and now the customer can not check out until they agree to the return policy. Most items can be returned for a replacement but there are those like incontinence items that can not be returned once opened. We do not sell returned products. We donate them to charitable organizations. We replace all defective products as per our return policy. If you have any suggestions please call me at 646-872-2690
I made two purchases, one for an alarm for my doors and the other for a music player plus some puzzles for mom for Christmas. I used the online chat before and after I ordered as I had many questions. My order arrived in 2 days to Boston. Mom has declined, but I have told friends about the site and I believe they ordered the same music player. Sites should be commended that help a suffering community.
Yikes. Products were defective but we are still being given problems about returning them. Dishonest- price gouging families who are in a tight spot and need help with dementia care. Do not buy from them.
I just found this site and your review. First I am sorry for your frustration. We cater to the Alzheimer's community and if a product is broken we replace it. We scour the world looking for products to meet the needs of symptoms of this disease and we know we do not price gouge it there are on line stores that may undersell us because they can buy the product cheaper. If you ever shop with us again call me directly first at 646-872-2690 so we can discuss your needs and I can make a recommendation
Answer: I would say it is both. They sell a few products that are legitimately helpful and for some products returns should not be accepted. But for higher value technology products they were not able to resolve our issues and kept 33% for a defective product. This makes it appear to be a GOTCHA after they have your money.
Answer: Tracking was delivered the other day and delivery is expected Friday.
