I've been using ALibris for 20 years (I know this because I can see old shipping addresses in my profile that go back that far). I simply feel really ripped off by the shipping charges. $4.95 to ship a paperback just feels too high. It puts the total price too close to just buying the books new from online-bookseller-who-shall-not-be-named. I really want to support used bookstores, so I went ahead and paid to use ALibris, but I felt ripped off. // I would add to this that it's really difficult to search among multiple copies of the book in the same condition. The edition I wanted covered 50 pages of items, and I wanted Very Good quality. I did a sort by "Condition" but that grouped so many pages of "New" at the top that I had to hunt and peck around until I found the Very Goods. // So if the shipping cost were cheaper, I wouldn't mind the hunting and pecking. Alternately, if finding the copy I wanted in the condition I wanted were a breeze, I might have more easily been able to find a high-quality "Good" copy that could have met my needs, and I wouldn't have minded the shipping so much. // So, just overall, a somewhat demoralizing experience.

Your system did not save my previous password. After my password was changed, the two items I wished to purchase disappeared from my cart. I had to repurchase them from other sellers. This needs to be fixed on by the IT department. Once in a cart, it should stay in the cart.
You could improve the site by having the ability to send a book to a third party, as I have done, and note that it is being sent by the person paying for it (in this case me). In other words ask "Is this a gift?" - then prompt for giver's name
