UPDATE: Apparently this was entirely the fault of the individual seller on Alibris. When the seller failed to respond and I let Alibris know, Alibris made a very fair offer to refund half of the price, which I accepted. This was akin to Amazon when they make good on things that go wrong with individual sellers on that platform. I applaud the company for this.
I bought an expensive collectible book that comes in a beautiful, special box with the book's artwork. Inexplicably, the box came unwrapped, OPEN and unsealed, the bottom corner crushed, much other minor box damage everywhere, a USPS label on one side, which permanently marred the box. Luckily for both of us, the book itself was shrink-wrapped and the plastic was intact, except for a small hole. The book could easily have fallen out or simply been taken without disturbing anything. I'd give them a big F on shipping. I won't be shopping with this company in the future.
