After much research, my husband and I decided to try Alibris, and we made an excellent choice. The ordering process was easy, and the book arrived safely, quickly, and in perfect condition. I use this website for books that are rarely found used. The selection is great and prices are some of the best I can find. The shipping is expensive but if you get a couple of books or more it's free so that's worth it.
The selection on the site is great full of rare and unique titles. It's a little annoying having to spend so much money in order to get free shipping as most book stores do free shipping or cheap shipping. I'd like to be able to buy just one book at a time but I feel that you have to get several to get the free shipping. Nevertheless, I like the site and appreciate the followup email!
I've purchased from Alibris for probably a few decades, and have never had any problems. They have also been one place I look when I can't find what I'm looking for elsewhere, and generally am able to find it. This was that sort of case, and a particularly hard-to-find book at a rather high price, but completely worth it. The book arrived extremely well packaged and in perfect shape, allowing for a few "dings" and dimples from the prior owner. It also arrived quite a bit sooner than expected or estimated.
I ordered a special edition of a hard to find item. After searching countless other sites, I found it here on Alibris, and for MUCH LESS than I'd' seen it anywhere else. The book was shipped promptly, and packed so unbelievably well, between multiple layers of stiff cardboard. And while the book was advertised as "lightly used", you could've fooled me: it looked brand spanking new. So well done all around.

The soaps are wonderful. I am having a hard time deciding who to gift them to and which ones to keep for myself. It looks like I will never be able to cross the border, at least for a while, but I'm glad that these soaps made it safely through customs. One grateful American here enjoying a great product!
I deeply regret ordering from this company. I ordered three items, and immediately noticed that one of the book sets was switched to a cheaper version. When I reached out, they initially refused to admit their mistake and sent the wrong set. After returning the incorrect items, I've been waiting over three and a half weeks for a refund with no response to my emails. The customer service is nonexistent, and their website gives misleading information. Avoid this company at all costs. They are unprofessional, unresponsive, and dishonest.
I ordered a book and received the wrong one. After sending it back for a refund, I've been waiting for nearly a month with no response despite multiple reminders. I then ordered another book, and it still hasn't arrived. The customer service is practically non-existent, and they only give empty promises that lead to no resolution. I've never had such a frustrating experience with an online retailer. Avoid this site at all costs!
It is made far too difficult for customers to get vital questions answered and relevant information needed through this remote and impersonal ordering process, when actual assistance with a real person is actually more efficient, and preferred by more customers than you might think. And many would agree that this certainly is in keeping with good customer service -if in fact, this is of any concern to Alibris.
If one has forgotten one's password, and then reset it, one cannot return to the desired selected item.
One then must wait a day, before trying again to place the order...
The estimated sales tax for this order is incorrect and excessive.
I live in an unincorporated area of Jefferson County, CO where the Golden City sales tax portion does not apply.
Who would buy a VHS tape now! I don't so I was shocked to learn they are still selling them. And I bought in error for a bad price. Got DVD on eBay for half the price with free shipping. Very disappointed.
I've been ordering from Alibris now for many years. Some orders arrive promptly, others seem to take much longer. This was one of the longer waits, when the book seemed to have been marooned in Phoenix, AZ, awaiting pickup by USPS. However, it finally made it to its destination, and in perfect condition, but there for awhile I did wonder if it had been lost.
Placed an order 4 days ago and received acknowledgement. Just now got notice not available. "Sincerely sorry." If you were merely sorry, I'd be upset, but since you're sincerely sorry, I guess everything's OK.
I was more than a little disappointed with the shipping method used for my recent purchase. The tracking service showed the book sat in one location for an entire week. When I inquired about the problem the company blamed the seller and told me that I should contact the seller. The shipping company fails to realize they were PAID for a service. The books finally arrived but the memory remains of a shipping company with low/no standards for excellence. The shipping company has abominable reviews online so just be ready for a long wait, otherwise you'll be disappointed. Lesson learned.
My rating is partially based on delivery. Some books arrived after seven days. All books arrived as described and in good condition. The packaging was also handled with care. I will continue to be a customer and look forward to purchasing more books in the near future. I would like to know if a buy-back option is coming to the website. I prefer ordering hard copies of books so they can be added to our library after enjoying them. This was exceptionally priced for a new hardcover book and it was literally in the mail to me the next day and I've gotten a lot out of the book itself. My only negative critique and the reason for your not five stars is that the book was not glued to the cover correctly so the pages extend slightly on the bottom. It's not a huge deal but I may not have made the purchase if I had known it was defective..
The links you included in the email informing me that my item is no longer available, didn't help me get to choosing another copy. I had to start over. Even then, two copies of the book, same place and price, are till listed. Still not sure the sale will vgo through. Something's not working right.

Always a risk with used sellers describing the item improperly. Item arrived in fair condition at best. Lots of writing and highlighting. A bit beat up. Still readable. Not a huge issue but descriptions should be reasonably accurate.
I wish it were easier to see where an item would ship from, or better yet, that we could filter options by closest geographical option, in order to better weigh the "cost" of shipping something not only money-wise, but ecologically.
Alibris had a good price for the book I bought, but the way it was packaged led to it being damaged by the time it got to me. The return process isn't as easy as Amazon's, so that's less-than-ideal. The customer service agents I wrote to don't seem to have current information either - what they described about refunds, return authorizations, coupons to compensate for return shipping, etc. didn't match up with my experience. Nevertheless, I got a refund and ordered a replacement book, so hopefully the next one gets here in better shape.
I placed my order in error and return was quickly. I was planning to buy on Amazon to get a quick return at Whole Foods if find not suitable. Since shipment is done, I did receive a book, no return needed which saved a lot of time and energy.
