Aleks is so easy to cheat on students don't actually learn anything, and on top of that the the tutorial it has you do is very tedious and unnecessary, that tutorial, frankly, does not help any students whatsoever. Although the concept of having more than one attempt is helpful however when it comes to genuinely educating this website is not sufficient.
I had a great teacher, I am an A+ student, I am really good at math, I was 13 and going into a college math class, and The teacher decided to use Aleks. This started a very stressful time of my life- Every weekend working for 4-6 hours on 5 little sections that turned into 55 little sections... no one else did any better with it. I got the highest grade in the class and I maintained my A while the average was a C or D. Thank you Aleks for the struggle and the hardship cause it is great and I hope all of you never put yourself through this. I get that the website is built ok, I mean it only takes 5 minutes to pull up a 2 min problem to work out in 22 minutes cause you have to redo it 6 times... If you love math, and messing up, and doing your work a hundred times, this is for you. But beware, it will be a struggle. I know. You would do better with the worst professor in the world than this curriculum. Pls dont use this. It wont be beneficial.
Honestly, this website is hell our entire class would complain about how many topics we need to do, and the fact that the lessons check are the worst makes this website 10 times worst, 1 incorrect answer and this basically restarts you for that topic, wouldn't recommend this to people, I would rather learn how to tie a noose then use this website
If you have a full time job and your a student stay away from math course that uses aleks.com. Its a nightmare! They give you 219 topics, each topic has 3-4 problems, if you get one answer wrong it gives you 4 more problems and keeps doing this all over again and again until you get all 3 right in a row. Every ten hours you get an assessment and if you get one question wrong they take away 5-10 topics( thats about 40 problems lost that you worked so hard to complete) and you have to repeat these topics again and again. This program is designed for math wizards, or for people that do not have a job and have time to put in about 6 hours per day. This aleks.com program is designed for the schools to double and triple their profit by having students fail their math course because it has over 1000 math problems which have to be completed in 15 weeks plus the exam. The worst program ever
Aleks would get 0 stars if it were up to me this site is terrible and just a way for lazy teachers to give their students work without having to create it. It just creates frustration and is stressful on the students, lots of students just wont do it which will bring their overall grade down and hurt the teacher in the end.
Has no business being this bad, yet it is. Had a question that said to round to 2 decimal points and the number ended with a 5, so i rounded up. And got the question wrong. Just a single incident of why this program is awful
Do not use this. It makes me waste so much unneeded time, I don't get why they made me do this. First the "point system" is horrible, you lose points for the slightest mistakes, and it's very annoying! Please don't use this. At all. Trust me.
This site has to be the worst teaching site I have ever seen in my entire life. People do not learn from computers and they never will. This site is just plain awful, good luck to anyone who has to use this for school it should not be a requirement whatsoever. I have learned nothing from this and neither will you. Everything should be done on paper.
If your intentions as a teacher is to sadistically watch as your students fall into hell and struggle themselves over sleepless nights pondering why ALEKS decides to change how to do the lesson mid lesson, then this is the website for you. It will teach you a completely different way than the norm, and when you think you understand the lesson it pulls out so bs factor that you were not using before. Also the mid assessments "that cant hurt you only help you" hurt you a bunch. I would 100% the lessons after about 6 hours and then take the assessment, and it would revoke all my progress and say i never did any of those lessons. Terrible website that doesnt teach you and should only be used by the devil or used as a means of torture.
Aleks is the worst site imaginable. Wanna do a knowledge check that lasts for 2 hours! Every problem you get wrong in the knowledge check will add up and you have to redo them in order to get to your actual HW assignment. I had to go through 54 questions that I had already done the last month so I can actually do my HW that was assigned to me. This site is trash and I wouldn't recommend any teacher using it. Teachers that use this site are lazy and don't want to actually teach their students.
ALEKS is in no way a learning tool. It is just a time suck. I pity anyone that has to use this for any subject. I have no idea how ALEKS cons schools into using their product. If you are a teacher and considering it, I highly encourage you to try it out yourself. You will be instantly deterred as it will be a detriment to your students learning.
I am in school and no one likes it. At the beginning of every class the teacher tell you to DO ALEKS and just sits it the corner. The explanations on the website don't explain any thing. And you can loose every topic by getting only 1 problem wrong on a knowledge check. No one like it and half my school is failing math because of it
Their explanations are short and confusing. You have to try and figure out on your own how they go to a specific answer. The videos provided also doesn't help. The test reviews confuses you on what you need to study for your next test, they don't give you the option to consistently work on specific problems until you feel comfortable. Any teachers that uses this website for classes are setting you up for failure. I completely despise this website for learning math. If I could give this website a zero I would have.
Aleks is a very good concept. The only problem is the company really hasn't worked out all the bugs, especially the capability of the intelligence of the software trying to anticipate the specific needs of the students. For instance, if you make a small typo error, it assumes you don't understand the concept at all and makes you go over and over the same concept again, which uses up way too much of your time as a student, and also discourages you, which makes it that much harder to concentrate, especially if you have a learning disability! Also if you are having the slightest trouble with a concept, it will cause the program to constantly give you assessments and reviews, (which is normally a good concept) but depending on to what degree it does this, once again uses up way too much time to be practical for the average student. This is unacceptable in my opinion.
Aleks sucks. It doesn't teach you anything. It only makes everything harder. The Explanations don't even help. Aleks is f****** sh*t. I don't recommend it at all. Aleks has even caused people to self-harm which is terrible and heartbreaking. Aleks does not help, the only thing it does do is make you frustrated and angry.
I'm taking a Pre-Calculus college course and this program is absolute bs. Its completely unclear on what order you're supposed to work in and (in my instance) the calendar with due dates is full of dates for the WRONG CLASS. I took a required quiz and it said I mastered 28 of the 32 required topics and those four I got wrong i need to review. Sounds pretty good right? Wrong. Somehow that equates to a 52%, displayed without a breakdown of the topics and their weights. It seems like all the work was put into the aesthetics of the site without paying mind to the actual mechanics.
When it comes to the program, Aleks, and their style of teaching, they tend to over explain methods in a way that confuses the learner. Additionally, when signifying information, they don't do it very clearly. I'm left with directions I was TAUGHT and applied it to the problem, then get it incorrect because they simply signify information wrong. I forgot to mention that, they give you methods for one scenario and don't mention that other method when faced with a similar problem that requires a different strategy to answer.
Aleks is a website used by math teachers, but little do they know, we hate it! It's not specific and it's boring! I do not recommend using aleks to teach your students unless you want your students to hate you! On top of that, there are many ways for a student to cheat on Aleks, so is it really helping them? NO! Aleks is awful! I can comfirm that I have used this awful site and know from experience. When my math teacher found out people could cheat, he got a list of all the students that have cheated and it was 98% of the class! Don't use Aleks guys!
1/10. My college professors had me take this for algebra one this past semester and, oh my god, I'm not kidding when I say this program will cause you to want to drop the class all together. For every problem you get right, you get pushed back 1-3 for every one you get wrong. It sends you into a repetitive time vortex to the point that you'll never be able to finish a topic because the "explanations" it gives are really just mental gymnastics. If you use this program, use Mathway with it or else you'll never win. It's next to impossible to actually learn anything from ALEKS.
I have learned more this semester off of Google than i have from Aleks. There have been countless occasions where my professor will straight up tell us "yeah, the Aleks explanations are pretty useless here" while they themselves fumble around the subject due to Aleks' backwards, Medieval attempts at education. Whoever made this must have purposefully made it bad in an attempt to make students purposefully fail the class repeatedly for their profit- that is quite literally the only understandable reason as to why a learning program is so entirely useless. Even in the peak of Covid, when all of my classes were online and none of us knew how to navigate online learning in the slightest, I learned more via one terrible, lagging online Skype session than the entirety of this semester. If you have any say over it, please choose a different program for your students, no one should have to PAY for a service this terrible.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
