I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to throw my computer on the floor because of this site. Every time you miss a question, you lose progress. Also, if you repeatedly get a question wrong, you get the same damn explanation until you lose your sh*t and then it tells you "Let's take a break." If I could, I would make sure this POS named Aleks gets taken out of school permanently, but I can't.
Worst online learning site I have ever used. It is extremely time consuming. You must get 3 multi-step questions right on the first try to move on. A wrong answer deducts points. You will want to tear out your hair when have two in a row and get one wrong and lose all your points. Also the program has counted answers wrong for being. 001 off and not writing 10 as 1x10^1. I ended up just memorizing the step-by-step process and completing it 3 times like a mindless sheep to move on quickly. I often fall behind because I do not have the time or patience to complete the assignment, An online computer program should make its users cry and want to throw things at the wall. Save yourself the frustration and use something else.
This piece of sh*t program caused my depression relapse and caused me to be a fifth year and quite frankly, caused my life to spiral into chaos. I have never hated anything more in my life. Literally threw my laptop against the wall and broke it because I was so angry at Aleks. Avoid this at all costs.
This is literally the worst program ever. It isn't clear with explanations and prevents students from actually learning. If you are forced to use this HORRIBLE site best of wishes. It has caused everyone's grades to go down. Worst. Site. Ever.
Alright, so my dumb T-series $#*! principal decided it would be good to use aleks to try and teach us and you know what? He gave us the big gay. Not even Shrek can save us at this point. If you see this send help, its too late for me.
This site should delete itself from existence. I threw my PC monitor across the room in frustration because of it. My progress always goes back because of the knowledge checks and it's horrible. These virgin mistake workers at ALEKS should consider themselves losers. Also, the explanations for the math problems are vague. I'd actually try to use them to solve the answer and it doesn't work. And that just butters my biscuit! I'd so love to pee on ALEKS grave when it dies. To sum it up, ALEKS is a hot steam garbage piece of doodoo. And by the way the monitor is okay.
I sure wish I had come to look at these reviews before signing up for this class. I am like a month behind. I have no idea what I'm doing. Halfway thru the term I've yet to take a single test because the thought makes me nauseated. The explanations are complete $#*!. It teaches a basic problem and then when you start the practice it completely rewords the problem or makes you work backwards. I hate hate hate hate my life every Tuesday night. This should be banned from colleges every where for being cruel and unusual punishment. More than half the class is gone. This is absolutely the pits and I can guarantee you that I will fail this class. By the way they made me register in person because students were signing up online and then complaining about the class. There was no amount of explanation of how this works that could have prepared me for this atrocity of a learning tool.
It punishes you for answering incorrectly. One step forward, two steps back. That about sums up most of the experience on ALEKS. Its an unfair implement that completely stresses out and frustrates the learner. There have been times where I hand wrote the answer and typed it in as written only to get it wrong and see that the correct answer in the explanation was in fact my original answer (although it is rare when it happens). When moving on to new topics, it will show you an example of how to solve the equation but present you with a problem that requires a completely different method of solving that just wouldn't be possible to figure out on your own without any prior knowledge. Its almost like a free wrong answer for the program, making the time spent on the topic longer and more infuriating rather than helpful. I say that ALEKS needs to be pulled out of every academic institution on earth. Overall, it's just pure garbage.
This is not a good site for math
It is actually hell and it really made me want to die. This program will count you wrong even if you accidentally typed something, also expecting insane amounts of progress per week...
Also, with this, it was boring as hell and didn't explain anything, it really just threw problems at me and made me struggle through until i finally made it.
ALEKS seems like its an easy program at first, but as time goes on it makes everything harder than it needs to be. I know it has good intentions and it's creators meant to benefit students and teachers alike. However, this program relies on how much you can do and how fast, rather than the quality of your work. Even if you are able to advance from topic to topic quickly you will be based with Knowledge checks. Knowledge checks are quizzes on topics you've previously learned. It should be easy; it isn't. For every question wrong it sets you back topics. Occasionally I would be back at square one. Wouldn't recommend for students or administrators
I was part of a push to get my highschools math department to stop using alex. It is very ineffective for learning and only really works as busy work. This does not help kids learn. In fact we found that most of the time it only confuses them more. If you are an administrator, stay away. Though the idea of having math homework online is appealing, this is not the program to use.
This site is terrible. It will not teach you math, instead you will learn from your mistakes in the most excruciating way possible. When I go to bed I hear voices saying, "Math is good." How can I live knowing this monstrosity is running loose, failing and stressing students around the world? If I hear the word "Aleks", my flashbacks take me back when I had to mourn hours of pain due to my small "mistakes".
Oh, and by the way, you will not learn NOTHING educational from this site.
I learned absolutely nothing with ALEKS. They give terrible explanations on each topic then repeat the same type of question 5-6 times. If you even miss one space or misplace a decimal the whole question is marked incorrect and you're forced to do another 2-3 more of the exact same question. It's tedious, time-consuming, and absolutely useless.
This website gave me an aneurysm.
It's so bad that i gave up a whole letter grade just because it was so frustrating to use. The worst is when it doesn't understand your input even though it is correct. Actually coded and designed by microbrains
As a student forced to do Aleks, I'll say it straight out. Aleks sucks. I don't know if I can speak for everyone, but most of the teachers in my school use this as the only learning tool. The starter examples they use are easy to do, then they give you a question WAY harder than the example. The explanations are NOT clear. I have to constantly go on Khan Academy for help. Also, my teacher isn't good with computers. My $#*! keeps saying that I can't take quizzes or Knowledge checks because I have "limited access". Wtf, Aleks? Are you that autistic? Can you not at least make it easy for the teachers to grant access to that? All the other students can access theirs.
Lastly, I can speak for everyone here, nobody likes Aleks. Your program sucks. Students don't like it. Literally, every student in my school hates it.
Yes the program can be a bit glitchy but this math program is FAR superior to any others we have tried. My 11 year old actually looks forward to math - well nearly, instead of complaining. It's great how it adapts to where your kid is at instead of just making them redo everything
Based on the reviews I have seen so far, I'd like to think that everyone agrees aleks sucks. When you're forced to do hours of tedious work on a bland and repetitive website, it makes me want to literally die. This piece of crap website is just an excuse to give students tons of extra stress. Like wtf don't ever assign this as work to people.
Aleks has frustrated me from the start the explanations provide limited material for the many problems at hand and I have had to spend long amounts of time on stupid questions that were then erased because my previous questions weren't answered the whole system is flawed when it comes to getting the right amount of topics done in a row it makes the system time consuming and tedious
1/10
I love writing an almost 70 character chemistry problem and getting a single parentheses wrong. Or single number. It's literally helping me leave my sanity just a little. The $#*!ing masochists that decided to make answer choices that long can go impale themselves and die. $#*! me. I've got an actual job not a profession $#*!ing inputting a million different keystrokes for that job for every answer with your goofy $#*! system. Great job! Love the work. Keep it up?!? By the way $#*! the designers. To be honest I learn a lot from it. But the times where I have to step back for the 9th parentheses in a single answer. It's $#*!ing pointless and an absolute waste of a chunk of time. Good rant. Go $#*! yourself. Why do people use you. Infuriating $#*! of a program.
This site made me question my religious beliefs, meaning it made me believe there is a God and he hates me. I'd rather wax my scrotum than have to use Aleks again. Aleks has left me in a dark place, even as I see the light at the end of the tunnel, words cannot describe the trauma I've been through. Aleks is run by the devil himself and requires a daily bloodletting to keep it from crashing. I'd rather play with dog turds. 7/10 Ocarina of Time was better
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
