It's insane how much time it takes to do these problems, I spend hours and hours just doing several topics. And not to mention, this is just the HOMEWORK. So there's studying on top of this and that's five hours of my day for one class. Maybe I'm just stupid or I learn horribly slow, but I absolutely learn nothing from this computer program. Also, I almost shat my pants when I saw that I needed to do 23 (!) topics in a week. What the actual hell? One more thing, there's multiple times where I put in the correct answer and the program marked me wrong! Like it says 4.50 grams is wrong, and I check it and the answer key says 4.50 grams. I also had to pay money for this garbage. If your professor makes you do this, you better make sure it's for extra credit or 5% of the total course grade.
This $#*! $#*! program makes me $#*!ing hate myself it is never ending every time i log into this soul crushing website it makes me want to pound a white claw to relieve the pain it brings. Every god damn knowledge check gives me more and more $#*!ing topics i have no idea how tf I'm ever gonna finish this $#*!.
I can't tell you how damn pissed off ALEKS makes me and to the developers you can go f*** yourself. Can't even pass certain topics and then ALEKS gives a sorry $#*! explanation, of which not even Einstein could understand. They only provide videos on very few topics and 90% of the time those videos don't even discuss the topic. Sometimes explanations skip over critical steps and then the student is left 100% confused. I taught and learned more on YouTube. If I could give zero stars, I would in a heartbeat.
I was a healthy child before Aleks now I am dying. I have terminal brain cancer and won't make it more than 6 months. If you care about your children don't let them use this website they will die too. Jean-Claude Falmagne you are my murderer.
It's annoying, I prefer Khan Academy and what is up with this review I am writing it has to be 100 characters. Either way, I just don't like Aleks because you cannot learn properly and they teach differently than in schools and academies. I just hate it when I use a method that was taught in school and the Aleks Website is to simple-minded to know more than 2 methods even if there are like, I don't know 8 methods for 1 question. Either way it sucks and it wastes my time and the company behind it takes up a bunch of money from some stupid math and chemistry problems. I feel like this a "friendly" scam or just some turd I deal with (It's both a scam and turd, what do you think I gave it a one star). Now for those who read this I respect your opinion, even if you don't agree with me. Personally, I think Alek needs a life.
My Algebra 2H teacher decides she hardly needs to teach because this awful website is practically our primary teacher, and it sucks. Just an excuse for teachers to get lazy! Would give zero stars if I could.
So yeah just spent my whole summer learning countless topics feeling achieved only to take the final and $#*!ing fail utterly. Idek how I failed but it makes me wanna punch a tree during winter. Overall Aleks is a terrible program, Ive spent too much time learning $#*! that I never knew at all.
Every time I'm assigned homework on Aleks, it takes way longer than needed and is an absolutely awful experience. I'm always left extremely stressed out after it marks the majority of my answers wrong, but does not have a helpful explanation. Most of the explanations for these problems are oversimplified and offer absolutely no help. Having to fill up the pi chart/percentage is by far the worst assignment. Teachers make Aleks percentages an extremely crucial section of grades. Gaining just 5% takes hours! And as previously said, the explanations are awful. Knowledge checks are hellish abominations. Often, they include problems that I have absolutely no memory of working with! My percentage usually decreases after taking a check. I don't think I, personally, have ever learned anything from Aleks. It's just tedious busywork that makes the majority of students want to fling themselves off of a bridge! Absolutely awful, avoid anything relating to Aleks.
Aleks is efficient in its own sense, but does not acknowledge the removement of relational advantages with peers as well as your own professor/teacher. Why learn from a computer program when you have teachers? Periodic knowledge checks take up an unexpected amount of time I need to complete other class work.
This is such a waste of time, it easily drops me down a letter grade in each course that I have it in. You're so damn focused on getting the correct answer each time, that you don't even learn. Oh, you missed a problem? Well lets set you back about 4 more just to screw you over! I have 12+ hours of this each week on top of the regular homework and studying for the test. All this website ends up being is a giant chunk of time where you focus so much on getting the answer correct and fail to learn a single thing. The only other thing I think of while taking this course is that I still have homework and studying to do!
After using this site for an entire semester, I can say this is almost completely useless. I take a Trigonometry/Pre-Calc course, and since I am basically self-teaching myself the material despite having a professor, each topic assigned can even take hours to complete. The worst part is it is nearly impossible to fully learn the material by merely completing these topics. My instructor assigns us 30-70 topics a week, so imagine what it's like to use this on a daily basis when you have other classes to worry about as well. ALEKS has caused me multiple mental breakdowns, as well as instances where I've literally fainted from all the stress. If you're an instructor, please for the love of God do not use this. Coming from strict parents who value grades more than anything, you have no idea how many times I've contemplated suicide just because of how incompetent I feel.
This whole website just sucks, the system of how you can get the work done has glitches and many times i just end up failing assignments because i click, it crashes, and then it counts that as the entry. Plus this program is frustrating with the system of just taking away every little point if you get one thing wrong and it just says fix it instead of giving an explanation of how you can. There are so many flaws and they should listen to the one stars they get. Also the use of 5 question quizzes just sucks in general, whats the point of a quiz if you get one thing wrong it will just fail automatically, whats the point of the other questions!? Please fix this aleks like i gotta deal with this for 4 more years :/
Weird, boring questions, not helpful at all. I'm so tired of this. Just answered wrong once and I forever stuck in that question. Webassign is much better.
Student's life will be much more better without Aleks.
This is the worst $#*!in website for actually learning $#*!, god damn!, thank god its my last year in h. S, who ever thought ''hey this will help kids learn math" seriously needs their voting privilege taken away.
What an utter disappointment ALEKS is. If your class requires usage of this widely detested program, be prepared for an unnecessarily challenging semester regardless of the course material. ALEKS transforms even the most elementary mathematical concepts into a rigorously tedious man vs. uncooperative computer program $#*! show. Try to comprehend the discouragement of working your way through several minutes of a topic, only to forget a negative sign, input an accidental comma - or any other inadvertent misclick - and see your progress bar diminish before your eyes. Pain is all I know. If ALEKS has taught me one thing, it is pain; and unfortunately for you, this program does not discriminate... it hates us all equally.
I hate it so much as it is very time consuming! Repetition should help you learn, but not with this annoying website! I hate how my college switched to this! It gives you set backs if you accidentally click on a wrong answer and will make you repeat the whole unit activity! This is so horrible!
Sure being personalized SEEMS like a good idea, until teachers go to grade. It takes some students HOURS to complete something others do in half an hour. It is extremely unfair to those who spend around 12 hours to complete 200 topics when some complete it in 2-3. Not to mention Aleks's deadlines are insane when it is supposed to be a "personalized program". The knowledge checks shouldn't be there either except for ways to skip through a bunch of topics that are unnecessary or slowing people down. Time consuming topics should count as multiple things, and the work needs to count towards more progress instead of some problems taking 30 seconds and some taking 15-20 minutes and being worth the same.
Please remove or update this program, for if i could, i would give it zero stars.
I'm not sure how this program was implemented into our school system, but it wasn't a choice. These nonprofit organizations are wasting our tax dollars and sending it straight into their pockets instead of the schools. Why should the students spend time on this program that spits out "knowledge checks" that have nothing to do with the lesson that's actually being taught? Teachers are not in favor of it either, they are just puppets for the government. I am livid with the way our education system is run and hope that someone can help the millions of students suffering from severe depression and anxiety over the wasteful curriculum like ALEKS.
Aleks is an absolute sh*tshow in my opinion. It claims to use positive motivation to keep students going but I can safely say that no game or life experience has had me closer to violently destroying something than Aleks has. It is a pathetic excuse for teachers to not teach and tell students to just do more Aleks if they don't understand the concepts given in class. However, Aleks often does not represent what is actually needed in class and to make matters worse there are "knowledge checks" that throw many old topics at you and if you get one decimal point wrong on a question, then you are doing that topic again; doesn't matter if it was chapter 1 material that is in no way needed.
My teacher makes us use it for homework. We are graded on whether or not we can understand and complete 6 topics within an hour. It does not take into account how different students have different subjects that are easier for them. It just assumes that. "oh whole numbers is always easy for every single person on the entire planet. No, its f*cking not. Personally? Geometry and probability are so easy. Why can't you put that first for me? Why won't it conform to the understanding that each student is different? Ask for another explanation with more details? Same thing but even more confusing. It's complete crap. Not recommended for any teacher. You'll make your student hate you and bring down their confidence in their own abilities. It sucks.
Answer: Because the ALEKS program is literal hell and we people are just showing our hatred for it
Answer: Most likely.
Answer: Yes deal with it
Answer: Because people want to commit suicide in an original way, and ALEKS is the best way.
Answer: I don't think so but believe me a class action suit would be an improvement
Answer: I paid over $150 for this sumbi**h, I expect it to work
Answer: No i do not think the website owner has issued one but I think the feelings for aleks would be "down the toilet"
Answer: I realize this reply is very late but in case for anyone who needs it: -Let's say you're learning how to use long division. They have 3 questions in it. You master the first one, then go on to the next one. You get the second one wrong, guess what? They punish you and take back your first answer so now you have to answer it again. -How fun! And don't forget the useless knowledge checks!
