This "program" is an awful way to learn anything. I've had multiple instances of putting in the right answer and it tells me I'm wrong. Even when I actually do get the wrong answer, it is unhelpful and doesn't tell me what I did wrong, much less how to fix it. The knowledge checks are the worst. For me, it's a 30 question quiz every few days that often takes an hour to complete. Because of the number of topics it goes over in that time, it's more of a memory game than a quiz. Plus, if you get one question wrong it will make you redo the whole thing (30 questions for about 30 topics). Also, the way that you progress is absolute garbage. If you get a question wrong, you LOSE one point (out of 3-5). This is made worse when you combine it with the fact that it doesn't even tell you what you're doing wrong. I chose 1/5 because unfortunately there's no 0/5.

Absolutely terrible
April 17, 2023

I would rather get kicked in the balls by Bruce lee than use this "program". It is an absolute abomination to the world and my friends nicknamed it the child molester and I agree completely. I would rather watch paint dry blind than use this. Helen Keller could do a better job at designing something. I truly think Ryan from Ryan's world and jake the pirate could make a better math program. It is from hell itself and might just go there just to get my hands around the throat of the person who made this.

You can end up spending an hour or even hours each day just completing topics. ALEKS uses a point system that for each topic you would have to reach that point threshold before moving on to the next topic. You have to answer questions correctly or you'll lose points. An incorrect answer would mean an additional problem to solve, which means even more time being spent just answering problems. This wastes a lot of time and can be frustrating especially if you work on a problem for minutes, get it wrong for even a small error, then have to work on another question that also takes minutes to complete. The system should at least give you an opportunity to correct your answers before you lose a point. That way, you can check yourself to see what errors you made on your final answer so you don't have to spend time working on a completely new question.

I'm in college with a chemistry class that uses this for homework, and it's the most frustrating thing I've ever experienced. If you don't know the subject for home work, it can take you hours—not just 1 or 2 but 3 to 6—and learning from this system is terrible. How can you learn when you hate the system with a passion? Wrong questions take points, and the point system is how to finish home work, so if you keep getting one right and one wrong, you'll be stuck forever. Once it tells you it's wrong, it tells you how to do it with a generic trash sample question that might not even work for the particular question. If I paid $100+ to rent an e-book (so dumb), you better use the question I got wrong as an example. It's the worst way to learn possible, and I don't understand why colleges use this garbage. Drop the class that uses this and find another professor.

This is the most annoying software ever invented. It takes HOURS for you to get anything done. Once you think you are all set, it reminds you that you have a random pop up quiz... that is worth NOTHING. So here is another hour wasted on this load of crap. I have never hated a piece of software so much in my life. Worthless!

This cancer $#*! program makes me want shoot up my school. Why? Because this program gives you X amount of categories or topics to solve. Ok thats basic enough, and in each category there is X amount of problems you need to solve. Lets say 5. Lets also say that these questions are tough ones and you spend a long $#*! time to figure them out. Good job, lets say you completed 4/5 of the questions in this category. OOPS you make one mistake and the program removes a point. Then you try to fix it and it removes another. So its this stupid $#*!ing domino effect that when you get one wrong, the rest goes down aswell. So your 2 hour long session is just thrown out to the cyber sea of bull$#*!.

Bad site not helpful and forces you to repeat problems if you get it wrong. It does not teach anything or show why you got the question wrong. It will make you sit there for hours just to finish a unit, whoever made this website should go to jail for torturing hundreds of students.

Aleks review.
June 29, 2022

This is the WORST site ever created. It makes everything harder than what it needs to be. One example would be if you get a question wrong it sends you back and you have to complete more until you get a certain amount right in a row but thats far from the worst! Knowledge checks are another annoying thing that makes get angry with this program because it you do not do to well on them it will sent you back on the previous topics you completed and do most of them over again. It's s almost like who ever created this program wants the user to have mental break downs. This program is not good for my mental health as time and time again it stresses me out more than the actual math class.

It sucks.
October 14, 2019

The website is terrible. They way it teaches the problems through examples sucks. It shows you the steps, but not how you're supposed to get them. It says "do this" but how and why? It teaches it totally different from the way my teachers have taught me, so I have to teach myself ALEKS' way to do the problem. I sit there for hours at a time struggling to do it their way because it totally throws what I've previously learned out the window. The tools you use in the problems also suck.

I have used ALEKS for a few years and I honestly wouldn't recommend it. The explanations/lessons make absolute zero sense and it will mark you wrong for the most random reasons. I'm sure there are many better online programs such as Khan Academy, but even paper homework would be better. ALEKS leaves grading assignments for crappy A. I. to do, which is very faulty. If you are trying to get online classes, you can rule out ALEKS.

I hate aleks. I would rather slit my throat, jump off a building, and break all my bones when I hit the ground rather than go on aleks ever again. Oh? You got one little part of the question wrong? Well then, you get to go through the torture of doing the entire question all over again. Believe me, if you value your sanity- STAY AWAY

I have to use this program in school. It is ridiculous! The explanations are more complicated than the assistance from the teacher. Then when I get an answer wrong, it takes away my progress. I've wasted more hours trying to get through the process, than if I just had a real teacher TEACH! This program should be scrapped, but I am stuck with it for now.

I hate aleks it sucks
April 21, 2020

The descriptions to help understand the work sucks and I spend countless hours doing homework that I would rather do wrong and take a bad grade on. This website needs to figure out how to explain problems to students or have a max missed question limit or something. I have been doing one chemistry topic for hours and I it just keeps letting me get one right then one wrong and it's and unending cycle of suck. I only cuss and hate life when I am doing homework on this website.

Awful
April 27, 2019

It's not good. I would leave it at that, but I have to put in a certain amount of letters. That makes sense, some people want depth in reviews, reason to them. But I can sum up my entire experience with Aleks in one sentence.

You could spend hours and get through 5% of the material. The only thing you learn is to memorize the questions and answer them in a way that the program understands, but not in a way that normal people interpret information. It pales in comparison with other sites that have "adaptive learning". If thrown into the trash, ALEKS would bump up the value of the filth around it.

Waste of time. The thing with aleks is that, unlike with normal, written assignments, if u get one thing wrong u can't submit ur hw so u get no credit for that assignment, even if u completed the other 4 problems. Explanations r useless. Wish my college didn't adopt this program.

One of the worst websites to learn math from. The knowledge checks take forever, the topics take forever, the website is slow, the explanations make no sense, it teaches math in a completely counterproductive and frustrating manner, and it severely punishes you for the slightest errors. I am outraged at the mere fact that my school forces us to use this mistake of a program in order to get a decent grade in math.

Atrocious
January 4, 2018

Extremely slow, bad way of "teaching" and way too picky with answers. It legitimately sometimes takes over 5 minutes to load a single problem and that is not just my internet as it can load other websites just fine. Assigning this to your students is a terrible idea.

Pushes to hard...
March 14, 2019

I know that its kind of stupid me saying this, but it pushes, to hard. I purposely have been trying to score high on the knowledge check but it just makes it harder. In my classroom you have to do a certain amount of topics a week, but because I score higher then average, I'm running into stuff above my grade level and are super confusing. Want to kill myself, my parents absolutely hate me if I don't do all the required topics for week, even though it barely counts on my grade. Its almost the end of the week, and what I have to do is virtually impossible for one my age. Thanks a lot, Aleks. I want to die actually because of this stupid website making my parents hate hate hate me.
