The air went out in my condo and AHS sends a contractor from over 75 miles away who couldn't get me scheduled for almost two weeks! I'm in Florida around the Space Center. They send someone from ORLANDO! Contractor comes on Memorial Day then tells me I need a new coil and has to get approval fromAHS. I don't hear anything for two days so I call contractor. NO answer. I call AHS and they say they haven't received anything from contractor and will call me back. Next day I get an email from AHS saying to call them. When I call the crazy rep tried to tell me the email said I was denied on the Freon and it will cost me $700. I ask when we can get this scheduled. AHS says to allow two weeks and the parts are going to the contractor! That means a total of a month! This is Florida, it is HOT! I have a chow chow puppy. These dogs are know for having a lot of hair! I tell AHS I want another contractor since they don't answer their phone and it's basically SORRY! I will never recommend AHS. You can't understand the reps and then they basically don't care! Run in the other direction if you hear their name!
Horrible customer service there is no management on site to complain. The contractors they have the worst disrespectful and rude and they don't finish the work.my washing machine still with water and they came 5 minutes to tell me it will take 7 to14 days to get the part. Contractor was ridiculous disrespectful no manners.
They will not cover appliances unless if is within the manufactures warranty. They have clauses in the contract in which if an appliance has any overused repairs the customer is liable so nothing is ever covered. Is so sad that I chose this company. I referred them to the NV insurance Bureau
At this point I am so disinterested in even having a resolution done on this, I would like to be reimbursed for my warranty that I paid for, cancel it from renewing and receive a reimbursement for my deductible paid for the ceiling fan call.
The sheer fact that when I asked Greg Long a simple question regarding one of my clients issues: "Is your companies stance that it is OK for a client with a pregnant wife to be without AC for 2 months due to your inability to have it contracted from a reputable company and get it installed in a timely fashion" and that answer was "Yes, that is our company's policy, it is not what we strive for however." I will NOT affiliate myself with a company who has so little regard for a client and who cannot even get a simple reimbursement correct. A very simple authorization to use a local company due to the circumstances should have been made, in order to keep good faith with a customer and a real estate partner. I will make it my business to tell every single agent I know that uses HSA about this, how their customers will be treated and I am sure that my client will do the same in even a more public forum. It says volumes that you have facebook groups dedicated to people hating your company and all the issues they have encountered; not to mention your service vendors who specifically put off clients of HSA because they get paid so poorly. While I appreciate Greg taking the time to speak with me on the phone regarding the issues, the answers were corporate and did not change or help the situation. Filing this claim on my own fan to see how the process worked myself solidified the fact that your company cares far more about the bottom line than they do about actually working with customers and real estate agency partners. I WILL NOT risk my reputation in this industry with agents or clients for a company who does not care about their customers or their clients. All of us agents are the face of your company, without us, you won't have a company. It may be time to revisit your corporate philosophy regarding treating customers and agents with decency and humanity, rather than hiding behind a corporate policy.
We had American Home Shield for 2 years we had them come out 13 times for HVAC system. Each time needed 2 pounds of freon just below what was required to fix the unit. They put 2 pounds of freon in at $110 pound and a $75 service fee. They paid $10 a pound so it cost me $275. The last time I had a personal HVAC repairman there and sure enough there guy come in said it was 2 lbs low then my guy checked it was 7 lbs low. There repairman abruptly left and we got a phone call about an hour later saying we violated the terms of our contract and they cancelled our contract and would send us a prorated refund
Sure at anytime they can find someone to finally fit you in to a schedule but if you need timely, forget it unless it's a very inexpensive job that your $100 co pay will take care of. The switch on my dish washer went out. It took 11 weeks to get it fixed and 7-8 phone calls. I looked up the part they used as an excuse with the ultimate fake excuse COVID delays and could order off Amazon and have it in two days. When I read reviews on the Company website with 5 stars, I recognize names used in scam videos on YouTube. Alex, Jose, etc. You are calling a call center in India. We received our annual renewal and my wife without mentioning it sent a check along with the statement. Little did I know they ran our debit card number again and automatically pulled the money without consent. Our bank is paying us that back for Electronic fraud. I have requested refund for three weeks and no action as of yet on double payment. I wanted to cancel! Do not use a debit card like my wife did. Find a provider in the states with offices and call centers in the state. Those same people you call today about home coverage will be the same people who call you tomorrow on a scam call. That's how they get all information needed. We think they are legit but they only take it to the edge on some things. I have to give them one star to get out of this program but they don't deserve it.
American home shield the worst company in the world! Total scam! They fooled me with airconditioner replacement. According my contract it was their responsibility. I ve paid them every month for 4 years and after all paid out of my pocket whole amount for new airconditioner. You will never get no service, no money, no adequat answer from representative on the phone. Dont ever have deal with American home shield! All they do is collecting your money!
Set up appointment with 10 to 12 time. At 1:15 I received a text that they had canceled.
I took day off. They owe me a lost day of salary!
Seriously I'm looking into a class action suit.
This type of service cannot go unpunished
Horrible service, rip off!. Have my oven/microwave combo not working for 5 weeks. American Home Shield have sent four different contractors and they have not figured out the problem. When I call American Home Shield, there is no accountability or sense of urgency. Nobody follows through or escalates to make sure the service is provided. Dont even try to talk to a supervisor!
DO NOT USE! I have had similar home warranty protection for more than 20 years, so I believe in the product. But, over a YEAR has passed trying to fix my free standing ice maker. Multiple subcontractors sent to my home. Some show up, analyze, and then never contact me again. Some take the unit away and return it, still not working. Another has replaced multiple parts at different times, and it still does not work. In fact, it appears the unit is more damaged than it was originally, But at least they have a customer service department. Polite, but a joke! Try calling 20+ times with no resolution. Jump through countless hoops only to be met with shallow apologies and empty promises to resolve the situation. I am actually on hold as I write this. Seriously, this shield has gaping holes in it and you should look elsewhere for your home warranty protection.
I have been with them for 10 years. They have become terrible to work with. I recommend you find a different company. I had a totally backed up kitchen sink for two weeks. They sent me two different plumbers who did not bring appropriate equipment and could not get my sink unclogged. I eventually had to hire someone to get the job done and pay him $500 and now they won't reimburse me.
I have spent endless hours on the phone and emailing with them during the two weeks we had no sink and afterward. Go elsewhere.
I would give them a 0 if I could.
Our real estate agent talked us into American Home Shield for our two properties and it's been nothing but a nightmare. They will send people to repair an item for $75, but when we had a microwave that the GE repair service said could not be repaired because the part was no longer available and told us they were recommending to AHS that the unit be replaced. AHS ran us around for almost a month, through at least TEN phone calls, acting as if they never got the report from GE, saying repeatedly we would receive an email and we never did, delaying, delaying, delaying. In more than 60 years of life, I have had some scams run on me, but nothing like this - under a veil of legitimacy. We finally threw up our hands and cancelled our policies - after they made us wait on hold for almost half an hour, of course. PLEASE do not use these people. You will regret it if you ever need any covered item replaced.
According to our rental lease, (the condo we rented) had a clause that the tendency's would be responsible for paying AHS for repairs on certain appliances and paying the service fee.
We had an issue with our AC and between a period of 8 weeks, we had 4 different service men come out to attempt to fix it, and it took us contacting our property manager multiple times to get it handled. AHS would either not return our calls, charge us for never sending someone out or half fixing it and I'd have to call AGAIN.
We had the same issue with a washer that needed fix. We'd often go without a working appliance for months, because they didn't get back with us or the appliances would break shortly after getting fixed.
American Home Shield was fine for small to mid size service requests, but when our air conditioner died, we were on the hook for more than half the cost (all legal, of course, in the carefully worded contract).
My favorite is the "Administrative Fee" they charge at the time of cancellation. This allows the company to collect about a month's premium, with no service obligation).
We are now setting aside an amount equal to the monthly premium in a "Home Repairs" fund. We would NOT recommend American Home Shield.
I have called ahs for 3 days now for a plumbing issue the contractor they sent out was not a plumber he could not fix the problem every time I call ahs I get a different person and they promise to call me back in sending a different contractor I have yet to recieve a call back I've been with this company 12 years you think they would treat people like they would want to be treated
AHS sent a repairman to fix a broken refrigerator. Unfortunately that repair didn't work and the fridge broke a second time and then a third time. After the third breakdown, AHS simply stopped sending any repairmen despite 5 calls over 4 weeks asking for help. During each call, I was told that the issue was being escalated and someone would call me back within 24-48 hours with a resolution. They've never called and the refrigerator is still broken.
This is a dreadful product from an unreliable company.
I've had a ticket open to fix my ice maker and dishwasher. Simple right? I opened the ticket in January. I've called and called and get the ring around. Their customer service is located in Mars because I have to start over each time... however, their monthly billing department is on point. I stopped my automatic payments this month and they called me EVERYDAY. Today I paid to see if it was going to matter and finally was able to talk to a supervisor... well the process is starting all over. If they don't fix my 2 simple things, I'm going elsewhere and spreading this news... This is HORRIBLE!
We have never had a company arrive in less than 72 hours, even with emergency expedited requests. We have to call back multiple times to get status updates or answers to pending questions.
For a blockage, they could not find a company to come out for more than 24 hrs. After this I had to find my own company, which took 15 minutes. After having to pay for all work out of my own pocket, I was left with a $600 bill for services they did not cover. This was a simple camera in the drain to determine the cause of the blockage. Then the reimbursement process was a nightmare to submit and took 2 months to receive.
Another emergency service request for a ruptured water heater, we requested a company change 3 times over 3 days and nothing. No return calls or follow ups. After the company did show up, the insurance agreed to a hefty bill of approximately $1000 out of pocket costs for items that are 100% necessary for installing a new water heater. They hide behind the "up to code" term to avoid paying for things such as a drain pan, water lines, gas pipe, and a permit. Even though every single one of these items are required 100% of the time when replacing a water heater.
After denying the services from that company, the so called cash out program was misleading and a complete rip off. Option 1 was find another company yourself, pay out of pocket all the stuff we wont cover and we will pay for water heater. Option 2 is receive $500 total to have someone come install a new water heater who has to be licensed and has to have permit, etc. That price wouldn't even cover the most basic of water heaters. If the insurance claims that they will pay for a water heater replacement, up to 2k per my policy, how do they get away without covering anything that is required? At a minimum they should reimburse the home owner for the cost of a comparable water heater to the one being replaced. Even requiring a receipt. No other questions asked or needed documentation, especially as they already approved the needed replacement.
On top of all of this, most of the customer service representatives speak poor English and do not provide any assistance beyond the general talking points and responses that they have ready. You should not have to verify every piece of information on your account every last time you call. This does nothing for security of the account.
When trying to cancel the account, that can also only be done via phone takes hours. It is a never ending cycle of excuses and gimmicks to keep you as a customer while still not providing any solutions or listening to your concerns.
If I could give them a minus 5, I would do just that. I've been a paying customer of AHS for 20 YEARS. During that time, I've had to call them approximately 5 times. Once for a clogged shower, once for a ruptured booster tank inside the house for the well pump which caused massive flooding on the ground floor, and three times for my AC unit over the span of the last three years. The clogged shower was brilliantly resolved. The booster pump in the house was NOT COVERED because they claimed the part that IS covered is the little thing that sticks out from the ground well away from the my home itself. The first call I made to AHS for the AC unit to be serviced due to the compressor not working was NOT COVERED because they claimed the parts to fix the unit were no longer available. I HAD TO PAY THOUSANDS for them TO UPGRADE the old unit so that it could be fixed by them including the cost of refrigerant they themselves depleted trying to fix the problem. Year two - last year, I had the same issue with the unit. That time, they claimed it was a fuse, but we had to keep the unit on emergency heat to function properly. In February of this year 2022, the SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. Again it was a fuse- no surprise there since that is the cheapest fix possible. Today, the unit is still NOT WORKING and they refuse to send someone out unless we pay another $100. THEY ARE NOT REPUTABLE! And the last time I left a review, they claimed I was not a paying customer but I have automatic payments to them withdrawn from my bank account every month for the span of 20 years! You might ask why I don't just drop them? Because after 20 yrs of paying them thousands, they need to fix or replace my AC and Heating unit like they advertised they would do! I HAVE PROOF THEY ARE WORTHLESS! Perhaps a class action law suit is in order. What say you?
I recently canceled my contract because of the very poor service I experienced from American Home Shield.
I called about a plumbing issue in my kitchen. While a contractor was selected, the contractor was scheduling over 10 days out. This was unacceptable as I need my kitchen to care for my disabled veteran husband. After contacting AHS again, another contractor was selected - from another city over an hour away, still scheduling several days before a visit could be made. After speaking with another AHS customer service representative, I explained, again, the importance of needed repairs. They escalated to dispatch BUT no one contacted me. I ended up contracting a licensed, bonded contractor and spent hundreds of dollars. I submitted receipts to AHS for reimbursement, because, I believe AHS was not doing their job in finding a repair contractor. A week later, a contractor contacted me, too little too late. And, an email denying my reimbursement!
I was so upset and subsequently upsetting my husband, I demanded reimbursement of my service call fee and canceled my contract demanding return of my yearly payment.
I truly believe the business practices are severely insufficient. I cannot believe how poorly the service is from such a "reputable" home warranty company.
They need to rethink their service philosophies.
