I bought two pairs of jeans from American Eagle back in March and I returned one pair but I was still charged for two pairs even though AE returned it in store. I have filed two return issue disputes and provided proof of the return and I have also filed two compliments and heard NOTHING back it's now July and the issue is still not resolved and I have still not been refunded or even contacted about the issue. There's nothing AE can do in their part either.

BEWARE!

Thinking this was the same as Klarna, I signed up for this service.

They turned me down after asking a few questions that were supposed to verify my identity (past addresses, etc)…(they blamed the store as being unable to fill my order). But then withdrew the first payment and are still trying to withdraw from my bank account.

I was forced to cancel my bank card and get a new one. My bank is investigating and I am hoping to get my money back.

Do not be swindled by this scam…use Klarna.

I rarely write reviews or anything bad on the internet or social media…. But this last experience with Afterpay I wanted to! My bank account was hacked and my credit card in file was closed. I was waiting for a new card and asked for HELP from Afterpay, to please move the payment date or put it on hold or give me any information how to get a few days to put my new card in use…. They have only email costumer service (no live chat, no phone nothing)…. After 4days,(I was already late 2days with my 3. Payment on the item what I purchase)I get the answer "We understand your frustration, so sorry, hopefully in the future you can pay in time …. Ect. They can't do anything about this late payment because the system not allow to modify anything, also my $800 spending limit decreased (they will overview later may change back)I made over 20 payments the last 2years, never late and this 1 time I was asking for help before is became late and We sorry we can't do this and that and ANYTHING really…….
I'm so disappointed, will finish my last payment and NEVER want to buy anything with Afterpay in the future.

Horrible

I attempted to placed an order with Forever 21 but it never went through, yet Afterpay still charged me. I contacted both Forever 21 and Afterpay and they both told me there couldn't do anything about it. When i first contacted afterpay for a refund, they told me it would take 5 days. Then i contacted them after the 5 days and they told me it was actually 10 days, so again I waited. I once again contacted them and gave them all the information they had asked previously, the EXACT SAME INFO. They have the nerve to tell me that the order was actually placed on the 6th June and not the 24th of May (while i have literal screenshots and proof) and that it'll take longer to process. So now, I am stuck paying for dresses that i am never going to receive. Long story short, they just steal your money and do nothing to help you out, they just make excuses. I used to love afterpay but i think it's time to say goodbye.

Nordstrom.

I brought 2 dresses from Nordstrom. They kept collecting from my account on 1 returned dress. They kept asking for receipts and copies of my bank account. Nordstrom got involved telling them via email that both dresses were already returned. After multiple emails to Afterpay, after multiple communication via emails they disregarded both Nordstrom and my return receipts. I have no other choice but to contact the Bureau of Business to file a formal complaint. Beware if this company specially when they begin to ask for snap shots of your bank account. They have the available resources to confirm information with the retail stores but they refused cuz they are a bunch on bandits wanting to continue charging on returned items and asking for snap shots of your bank account!

Bad After taste

Been with Afterpay over 2years however the only thing I'm left with is a bad After taste YOU CANT COUNT ON(7days payments) GOLD PERKS. IT will cut your spending limit by 2/3. NO NUMBER TO REACH THEM. The reward points are not real it will cut your speeding limits.

I was a customer with Afterpay for four years but no more. They are the absolute worst. They are very unforgiving and rude. I was late twenty four hours with a payment and they lowered my limit to fifty dollars. They also begin your payment schedule from the time you press "submit order" from a vendor which is unfair. The payment schedule should begin from the time the vendor ships out the order. The vendors take advantage of this and ship out whenever they feel like it because they get paid for the transaction right away. Another problem with Afterpay is their so-called rewards program. It's not a rewards program but a punishment instead. You have to make on time payments to move up in the tiered program. This allows you to to change payments dates and the ability not to have to make down payments. This sounds good, but you are only allowed to change a date on one order one time and if you are even a few hours late making a payment you are downgraded to the lowest tier. They are really crooked and shady. I have moved on to Klarna. They are a breath of fresh air! They don't treat you like a criminal if you are a day late making payments, they're customer service is excellent, and they will finance you at any store including Afterpay stores. They also do not begin your payment schedule until your order ships from the retailer. This means one thing: the retailer will ship your order fairly quickly, and not take their time shipping your order unlike with Afterpay. Klarna is the best and Afterpay is the worst!

If I could give a score of less than 1 star I would. After having my account hacked from an afterpay text message and then the details of my account changed they were unable to rectify it even though they had my details still. Only having email contact for issues when situations are time poor is absurd. Taking days to respond to emails is ridiculous.

THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU A REFUND FOR ITEM AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN RETURNED. DO NOT USE THEY. I HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM THROUGH MY BANK TO TRY AND GET MY $400 BACK. AFTER THE MERCHANT REPEATEDLY SENT PROOF TO AFTERPAY THEY STILL REFUSE TO REFUND MY MONEY. NEVER USE THEM!

Please, DO NOT go through Afterpay. I did my Christmas Shopping online back in November. It's now March 25th, and still no merchandise. I have spoken with the merchant AND Afterpay, and they both continue to place blame on each other. When I reached out to Afterpay, they specifically said there was nothing I could do and still took the $898 out of my bank account, despite disputing charges. Apparently, there is no resolution with them due to being the "third party." NY&Co (the merchant) issued one refund and Afterpay reversed it. I will be reporting this to the BBB with their emails and will NEVER do business with them again. Save yourselves the trouble and go with ZIP. They are much more helpful and great customer service.

I didn't have any trouble with Afterpay when it was run by the original owners and I made several purchases using the site. But it is not the same reliable company after Afterpay was sold. I recently bought a handbag through A/P & paid for the first two instalments with my Visa debit card; bank statement shows both payments went through successfully. Afterpay disputes this & demanded a copy of my bank statements which I've done. This ballsup & the time taken for Afterpay to rectify their error has turned me off ever using them again!

SCAM... beware!

I've been using after pay for a few months with out any problems. Then out of nowhere they froze my account. When I reach out to see what the problem was they were requesting that I send though email a copy of my license or passport and several bank statements to prove that payments were made. I believe they were trying to collect my information because they would know that all payments have been received on time using they same card. This is how identity theft starts.

Not safe for buyers

Afterpay doesn't seem to truly review their merchants that they work with. If something goes wrong with a purchase... They don't do anything for you. If a merchant ghosts you... That's too bad, Afterpay will just try to send a message to them, but that's it. They won't get involved or help you. You might even get a (sorry) in brackets.

Me: Hi Afterpay, I need help cancelling an order. I can't get in touch with the merchant. Please help.
Afterpay: Give them more time to reply, we can't do anything. Wait 48 hours.
Me: Okay...
-48 hours later-
Me: The merchant hasn't replied yet, I tried contacting through all the other methods too.
Afterpay: We're so sorry you're having issues! We'll make a dispute and do something for you! Let's wait 7-10 days and we'll update you.
Me: Okay.
-2 days later-
Afterpay: -closes the ticket-
-7 days later-
Me: Afterpay, I tried to contact regularly for the past 7 days. Here are proof of all my logs, and here is everything, I still can't contact, is there any update?
Afterpay: Can you confirm your details so we can confirm who you are?
Me: ok
Afterpay: Okay please wait a bit more, we will update you asap as soon as we make a resolution
Me: ok
-10 days after-
Me: Afterpay, it's been the 7-10 days now.
Afterpay: Please keep waiting.
-21 total days later-
Me: Afterpay... What am I waiting for?
Afterpay: we are waiting for the merchant to reply
Me:... but what if the merchant never replies?

NOT WHAT THEY CLAIM

Afterpay at first worked well - or did it? I ordered originally with vendors I was comfortable with and knew. I seen Chicme US advertised some really cute clothes. Because of the US, I was lead to believe they were located in USA, when they were in another country.
Afterpay was in communication with me throughout the ordering/shipping process.

Turned out from an order in November for Christmas, that order was delivered 2 mos later. In January, Afterpay had reached out to me to ask for my response when the vendor sent an email asking "will customer wait, or cancel" Immediately I answered to CANCEL, as this was something that we tried to do as of December 5,2021

January 2022 - Goods received and returned a few days after.
Despite my returning to the address Afterpay/vendor both advised, I am sent to collections for goods I don't have in my possession. Afterpay, makes more money from their late fees and also explains why they didn't push to cancel.

What a bunch of scammers. They deal with anyone who wants to be a vendor, honest and dishonest.

DONT USE AFTERPAY. They DO do credit checks. It. DOES affect your credit score, EVEN if you make your payments on time, lenders will, and do avoid giving you loans! Lenders hate afterpay! Now i understand why. I used afterpay for years. Spent thousands. And now that i have not used it in over 6 months, i went from a 1500$ limit. To 100$ limit. They PUNISH customers for not using afterpay, despite loyalty! I closed my account. Dont even get me started on the "help and support". will.sum it up, RUDE. I will never go back to afterpay. And they keep updating their app with "feautures" that i literally had to buy a new phone, to even make purchases. Since they nuked the in store barcode simplicity, afterpay has gone trash. They joined up with mastercard for one reason. $$$$$ and privacy data mining / tracking. Money hungry. NOT recommended! Allot of the high reviews glorifying afterpay, i suspect, are PAID reviews. When you talk to REAL people, they do not like afterpay. Lots of complaints.

Terrible Customer service

Stay away from After Pay they are TERRIBLE I purchased a gift card never received the merchandise I contacted AFTER Pay for assistance I was told they have a third party merchant (whom they never mentioned when I purchased the card) they informed me that I had to contact the 3rd party for a refund in the meantime funds are still being deducted from my account after 2 weeks of trying to contact the 3rd party I was told I had to take the gift card despite the fact I didn't receive the merchandise nor did I want to do business with the store that the card was from so your not allowed any refunds on Gift cards I called after pay back asked for a manger an no one ever called back nor does any care that they stole my money they are still trying to take money out of my account for something I never received and Also don't have the gift card I will be filling a complaint with the BBB
