I had chosen this company because of them saying they cover everything I had a concerned about. Well I WAS WRONG! My pipe was leaking in the basement, well guess what not covered. My garbage disposal was leaking the contract states all components and parts, well I was only given $150 towards it. My shower was leaking, well guess what NOT COVERED AGAIN, we only pay out $150 towards. Now my stove and oven not working, again because of the age of the stove and oven the parts are not available, so we can only offer you $100. THIS COMPANY IS FULL OF CRAP AND A RIP OFF.
This company is fraudulent. BEWARE. They will lie and tell you whatever they need to say to get you to sign up. I spoke with Patrick in Sales in July 2024 and he lied to me about what was covered for ACs. I asked explicit questions about coverage about multiple items in my home and he lied repeatedly saying they reimburse fully on equipment. They have very shady wording in their contract (which I read twice and still couldn't figure out) on how to screw customers out of paying claims. Chelsea in management backed their false claims. Do not expect management to protect the consumer. This company should be shut down.
People are more prone to write reviews when they have had bad experiences. I was determined to give an honest review if something broke down. Well it happened. My washing machine needed a nearly $500 repair. They took care of everything and followed up to make sure it was done. Great experience!
For my first claim with AFC in over a year and a half, they gave me a hard time over a technicality (they stated a failure was caused by a rodent since the tech pulled out an old mouse carcass that had died some time ago even after the tech said that it was unlikely the main cause of failure since the heater had stopped working last week and that mouse looked like it was months decomposed). They only offered $250 out of a $1400 repair. AFC said they were a value-based warranty company which meant they would only compensate for the current value of the heater instead of what it would cost to replace it with a new one. I signed up with the impression that the full cost of a new unit would be covered in the case of a failure. Charging me for a service I didn't use, and then when I finally did was inadequate and failed to meet expectations is absurd. On top of that instead of trying to remedy the situation, they charged an additional $75 cancellation fee.
We filed a claim in March to replace electrical outlets, a ceiling, fan, and an exhaust fan. We had no idea what was wrong with the electrical outlets or the exhaust fan, but they refused to send out a technician to look at it I had to figure out everything myself, it took me a while before I got a new ceiling fan, which was the first thing I wanted to replace, and I was supposed to upload a receipt to the portal once I have finished. We didn't renew the policy that expired in April, so they didn't get the receipt while I was a member, therefore, they told me I will not get reimbursed since I didn't renew my policy. I spoke with a supervisor, and she did not want to work with me at all, only referred to the policy. Do you have spent $700 over 12 months, for nothing. Stay recommended to stay away from this company, the last one we had was really good, and they came out and fixed everything we asked them. You buy cheap, you obviously get cheap.
Horrible customer service. They'll sell you a policy with little info then cherry pick every specific thing to prevent paying you. Be cautious with all these companies but avoid this one at all costs. The comedy was they denied my claim because preventive maintenance wasn't done. Either way they weren't gone to pay. If I'm paying for preventive maintenance on an aged system why am I paying for this service in case emergencies? This company is a joke.
This is the email I wrote them. I want to cancel this plan. Your company has misled me into believing that you would assist with things covered in the contract, I have found this not to be true. I have provided information in regard to my A/C repairs and maintenance. Your company has looked and found loopholes to keep from paying anything towards the repairs. I have replaced two air handler units at the cost of over $4200.00, with no assistance from your company. Your company is misleading people.
I settle a claim for$100 and the company said they are not paying. They stated because I canceled my policy before they cut the check that they did not have to pay. My policy was still in effect for 3 more days when I canceled future payments. The policy is paid a month i advance so my policy was still in effect. Scam business!
See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. This company is a 3 card Monty scam.their 3 depts: service, sales, billing all don't know what each other dept does and does not cross communicate with each other. They all look for a reason its other debts issue and you have to call them back. This company is setup to take money, and not help customer. They have loopholes for everything, and if you happen to get through all the hoops, then depreciation of appliance or part, so the don't replace or fix an appliance with a new appliance They reimburse you at the depreciated rate. They will lie to you over phone and no one has any accountability. Never Ever Buy A plan from these Grifters.
AFC will tell you anything just so that they can receive a bonus on their check. I've had AFC for only 6 months…water heater was going bad needed a new one so I paid for the services. Due to my water heater being out of date it doesn't have any value to AFC so they will not reimburse the amount I paid which is 3800 but will send me a check for 100$ instead. If i would have known that my home warranty wasn't gonna cover me due to the age of my appliances that they knew before because they asked how old my home was before offering me to become a member. Now I probably won't even get my money back if I cancel my membership. AFC is a rep off so If you want to waste your money or have money to waste then this company is a great place to do so.
This was not a good experience at all. After paying several months of the warranty, I called for service. They sent a tech out, who charged be $125.00 just to diagnose the issue, to then find out that they do not cover the item due to age. I cancelled my coverage immediately. This was a waste of money and time. DO NOT BUY A WARRANTY WITH AFC.
Hello. Please. BUYER BEWARE! We purchased 3 year AFC Platinum for $1375 to cover appliance in a new house once the manufacturer warranty ended. AFC is a complete waste of money. We needed the coverage twice and both times were were let down. Their coverage is so limited that you would be better off donating the membership costs to a charity. Or saving the money to cover repairs yourself. There is a ton of fine print, so they protect themselves, but they don't cover the electronic chip based components, such as touch screens, upon which most modern appliance rely.
Our microwave went out, and the policy offered us the cheapest possible replacement and did not cover delivery, removal or installation costs.
Save your money…. This "coverage" is useless.
Please don't fall for this company. It's a scam. They are just eager to deny every claim. I have had 3 issues with my AC and they haven't covered any repairs.
AFC has to rank among the most difficult companies to work with I've ever encountered. They categorically denied service based on their narrative of a false warranty claim and after repeated requests with 2 supervisors to put their denial in writing they have yet to do so. You'll find yourself dealing with uninformed customer service reps with an apathetic mentality.
A prior technician in July completely botched an HVAC condensor repair. AFC told me to contact the technician to honor the repair's warranty. He refused to acknowledge the issue, told me to contact AFC, and hung up on me. After hanging up on me, he sent a text saying "how about I come to your house and f*ck your wife, b*tch."
AFC sent a different tech who diagnosed this issue, the technician had miswired the condensor motor to run backwards. AFC then called me to let me know they would not cover the repair since it already been paid for, and that I should sue the technician.
Absolutely cowardly, corrupt, and wrong on every possible level. I canceled my policy's renewal immediately and will never work AFC ever again.
I have 4 properties under warranty with AFC Home Club. Had a claim for a $7000 heating system replacement denied due to the unit being too old. Defeats the purpose of having a home warranty if the age of the unit plays a role in payout. After various discussion with the customer service team and AFC Home club legal department, a $500 payment was made. Buyer beware. Better to go with another agency that doesn't discriminate against the age of the unit but has a yearly claim limit instead.
Was lied to by Luke who sold me the warranty. Told him most important thing to be covered was my ac unit, he lied to me on the phone and said "yes". Four months later, ac repair company said I need to replace my unit. AFC now wants to tell me my ac unit has depreciated and isn't worth anything. Thinks I should be happy with $250 towards an entire new system... what a joke. I was lied to and they need to do what's right. I'm going to fight this, just started a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I'm not stopping there. You can't lie to someone just because you want to get a sale. They need to be held accountable for this. The only reason I switched my home warranty coverage was because I was assured I would be covered, definitely a false sense of security... so wrong. Save your money, and stay far away from AFC!
I am a verified actual AFC home club member. My membership started 5/22/17. Plan summary: 3 Year Gold. Total purchase price 1295. 00$. Membership # CLR-*******. Valdez Homeland CA. DONT PURCHACE THIS PLAN! My heater was not covered because according to them it had depreciated. ( I thought only cars depreciated?) They payed 180.00, I payed over 850.00 to fix my heater. In addition, they cashed it out rendering it no longer a covered item. Lastly, I found out they cashed out my refrigerator after it was repaired. Finally, it has me wondering if the toilet they repaired this year has also been cashed out?
AFC Home Club, after 2 years coverage, provided me the worst service and customer relations that one could imagine. Just to get in touch with someone requires multiple calls and waiting on the phone for their pitiful customer service. Upon getting someone to provide help, I found out that their "policy" did not cover an integral part of the "icemaker" and thus was not covered. Upon inquiring about cancellation and a refund found out that that requires a $75 fee as well. They've had my business for the last time. I'll find a company that actually provides a warranty that does not have all types of loopholes. Tyler, TX
I agree with Mark F.- company is misleading. I changed over from another plan, and bought their most expensive plan so that everything would be covered. The salesperson was very convincing in that it was a great plan where I could rest easy if I have any issues. So far they have nickel and dimed me on every service request. I thought everything would covered since it's on my page but, as an example, despite getting the yearly $200 maintenance for my AC, when a possible leak was the diagnosis, apparently actually finding the leak is "exploratory" and not covered under any plan. So I have to pay an additional $200 just to see if there is a link that I then have to pay another fee to call them to "possibly" fix it.
So be sure to read the 10 pages of fine print to see how many things are not actually covered by virtue of them not being specifically listed. Very disappointed- next time I'll save my money to fix the repairs instead of paying a home warranty company to tell me another thing is not covered.
Only putting two stars because the people on the phone are nice enough despite the company's policies.
Answer: DO NOT USE THEM, THEY DO NOT COVER NOTHING THEY CLAIM TO COVER.
The company has garnered a predominantly negative reputation, with customers frequently expressing dissatisfaction regarding misleading sales practices and inadequate claims support. Many reviews highlight issues such as denied claims based on technicalities, lack of transparency in policy coverage, and poor customer service experiences, including long wait times and unhelpful representatives. While some customers appreciated the initial sales engagement, overall sentiment indicates a widespread feeling of frustration and betrayal, leading to recommendations to avoid the service. The recurring theme suggests that the company prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction, leaving clients feeling undervalued and misled.
