This is one of the biggest rip offs on the web. They purposely advertise false prices so they can get you to order and then you are FORCED to call and "verify" the order. There is actually no verification needed, they make you call on EVERY single order so they can try and sell you a warranty or insurance. If you do not pay the additional money (anywhere from $200 - $400 more) they will not fulfill your order. This site is a total waste of time and designed to make you pay more than other bigger sites like Amazon, Costco, and Best Buy. Buyer beware there is a REASON they are lower than the completion.

First hand experience, ordered a sony A7, good price, few days later got a call about the order, supposedly it was a cheap import, he said he felt bad and would like to upgrade me, etc, etc, listened to the speal he gave me, cancelled the order. I did get my money back by credit card but was prepared for the worst. I purchased my camera a different company for the same original price, free shipping and no bait and switch. The original order gave me the creeps.

They had the lowest price on a camera, so we ordered it from Abes of Maine. Next day we get the infamous call that we should call them back regarding our order. I ignored it at first, thinking it was a customer survey or something. We waited for the product to ship, but it never did. Finally called them back, and they said the product we ordered was a "grey-market" item, intended for the Japanese market and may not have English menus, etc. Then we go online and see all the negative reviews against the company. Luckily we waited a bit longer, and by then our credit card company revoked the transaction because it took too long to be completed.
We counted our blessings to walk away with no cost, other than a week wasted.

DO NOT TRUST THESE FOOLS. Thank goodness for the online reviews! Sure enough, 48hrs after my purchase i received a call from NJ with a representative trying to up-sell me about some international version... I immediately asked him to cancel my order.

Abe's of Maine - at least have the____ to just put the CORRECT description of the product on the site.

Also, consumers should be aware that, at least this TV, was not being sold with all the items that come with the TV if you buy it from a reputable company, nor is it under Sony's warranty! BEWARE and AVOID THIS SHADEY BUSINESS.

I highly recommend Abe's of Maine. Quick and easy to order online. A representative of Abe's called me the very next day, asked me if I knew the difference between two different lens. He explained the good and not so good between them. He recommended the higher priced one as it has a warranty. I didn't want to spend more at this time. He then applied a coupon, it was still more than I wanted to spend, he then put me on hold came back and gave me the upgraded lens w/warranty for the same price as the cheaper model. Abe's certainly went above and beyond to make this customer very happy. I highly recommend Abe's of Maine. It's my new place to shop for sure!

Great customer service. Called to explain the difference between import and US order. Also checked to see which camera I own to ensure I was purchasing correct lens. Great on offering me the import price. I would have more than likely cancelled the order otherwise.

They gave me the best price online on a Nikon d5300 kit, happy with my purchase will recommend to other as promised.

I comparison shopped price and they were quite competitive with other larger online retailers, beating them in many cases. They were also helpful and friendly when explaining differences in models. I would rather my hard earned dollar go to a smaller retailer than a large one. As my first order with Abe's of Maine, I have been pleased so far. I ordered a camera on their website. The next day I received an email saying that I need to call to verify the order which no reputable company does(I ordered on THEIR site so they knew the product and I had authorized payment on Paypal so there was nothing else to verify.)I explained this to them and told them I was reluctant to call because I had been taken advantage of before with a "chinese version" scam. THEY STILL messaged me back using that very scam! It is where they tell you that you ordered a "japanese or chinese version"(which would in truth be exactly like a US VERSION) that doesn't come with a warranty or accessories with the camera and that you have to pay hundreds more to get what you ordered. CLASSIC SCAM! DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD INFO!

Two years ago, I wrote about the bait-and-switch practice of Abes of Maine. Unfortunately, my own experience did not deter me from swallowing a bait again. I wanted to buy LG OLED65C7P TV. Abes of Maine offered an excellent price of $1,996 with free shipping. Everything looked very transparent on the site, therefore I completed the purchase. I receive an email stating that Your order has been placed and will be processed as soon as possible. Next day, a company representative called me and said that to proceed with the order, I must buy shipping insurance for about $300. She added that without this insurance the company would lose money on the sale. Thus, she admitted that the price on the site was fake. Since I refused to pay for the insurance, she canceled the order.
I looked up complaints about Abes of Maine online. There are hundreds. Do not get into the trap!
