I just booked a room in the us. is the total amount charged on my card the final cost or do you have other fees not disclosed? when will hotel get our booking info?

Dear Christian k., Greetings from HotelTravel.com! HotelTravel.com's rates will include all federal and state/provincial taxes as well as service charges. Some hotels may charge a resort fee, city tax or other fee upon arrival which they will not allow us to include in the rates. All information on this will be noted in the 'Conditions, Tax & More' section on our website. However, after clicking 'Book Now', the price which is displayed is the price HotelTravel.com will charge your Credit Card/PayPal account. We are located in Phuket, Thailand thus we encourage you to check your Credit Card's terms and conditions relating to transactions with regards to international transaction fees should they apply. Once you have confirmed your booking and received the voucher, please kindly reply to that email requesting the hotel's internal confirmation number. We will then work with our local agent to forward your booking details to the hotel urgently, and we'll then reply with the hotel's internal confirmation number which you can use to crosscheck your booking directly with the hotel. When booking do you just leave a credit card on file to reserve the room or do you get charged full price when you book the room?

Dear Jessica S. Greetings from HotelTravel.com and thank you for your question. The vast majority of our rates are pre-paid rates, thus the full amount of the booking will be charged at the time the booking is placed. If you require to cancel your booking at any point after confirmation, any refund would be subject to the cancellation policy, which can be found in the 'Conditions, Tax & More' section during the booking process. We do have a select few rates which are Pay At Hotel rates. These rates will be clearly noted with a Pay At Hotel text beside the room type/rate. For these rates, the hotel will charge the payment directly from you. Hotels will usually charge a deposit or the full amount at the time the cancellation policy comes into effect, however this is dependent on each individual hotel and their procedures. I made a reservation yesterday for a washington dc hotel. when i called to see if the hotel has it, i was told they did not. i need to confirm the reservation or will cancel. how do i find out what the reservation will show up at the hotel?

Answer:

HotelTravel will tell you that they do not pass on your name until about 3 days before your stay. That's where some if not all of the problems lie. If they discontinued this practice they might get happier customers. I cancelled my reservation when the hotel had never heard of me, and HotelTravel refunded my money, but it took quite a few email exchanges, and that's not worth the trouble. They need to clean up their act, other websites confirm you reservation and pass it on to the hotel straightaway, and that's the way it should be.
