Hi, I haven't exactly ever cancelled a booking but have had a 'no show' (due to partner not following directions!). Booking.com wouldn't refund so I contacted hotel and they said they were obliged to charge (only for 1 night so not too much of a bother) as they were fully booked and had an empty room due to our no show. I can understand that. I would advise you to contact the premises directly with a genuine reason for cancellation and appeal to their kindness. Always be humble and explain that this is an exceptional circumstance, if they have enough notice you may not be charged especially if they have time to advertise the room again. However, if they cannot resell that room you may be charged (try to get that reduced). The reason for the non-refund is that the price is usually lower so sometimes if you pay just a tad more you can have peace of mind knowing that you can cancel right up to the night before. Good luck!

Hi,

I have previously cancelled a 'non refundable booking'.
You really have to do it with as much notice to the B and B. If you cancelled the day before, I think theybwould have the right to still charge you. Hope that helps.

I am sure you can cancel, but since the booking was non-refundable, I doubt you can get your money back.

If there was a reason to cancel such as the merchant did not fulfill their promise and deliver what was expected to you, you may make a formal complaint to your credit card company and ask to have the charges reversed. That is why I always recommend paying only with a credit card in case there is a problem with a merchant.

Credit Laws state your complaint to the credit card company must be made in writing. It must be made within 60 days of your bill being mailed to you. You can initially call in if you like, but in order to be valid under the credit card law you must mail a hard copy of the complaint to your credit card company. I suggest sending the complaint via certified mail so you have proof that you complied with the credit card law to work in your favor.

Don't be afraid to ask your credit card company to help you. They are there to work for you and are generally extremely helpful! Good luck.

Probably not since it was bought through a second party. You could call Hotel directly and ask. Maybe, they could give you some advice..
