I want to send birchbox as a gift. When I sigh up for that, does the recipient get the box directly in the mail or do they have to go online to activate the gift?

I'm sure every girl goes through this... well, come to be that most products Birchbox samples can ONLY be bought through them and apparently "be made for birchbox".
